I wish I could give more stars. We were in town for our son's track meet which happened to fall on my husband's birthday. We wanted a nice place to eat that was casual because we were in track clothes. Everyone was super friendly, from the call about my reservation to the hostesses who greeted us and especially, Ethan, our server. I'm the kind of person who looks at the menu online before I go anywhere and already have in mind what I want. Shrimp burger. Need I say more? I had mine without the tomato and onion. Think crab cake but with shrimp. I assumed (and we know what that gets you) the shrimp would be minced and unrecognizable. Nope! There were like whole shrimp in this "burger"! The flavor was amazing. It was a "dirty" Margarita infused with cucumber, tomato, cilantro, olive, lime, celery bitters, triple sec and simple syrup with a salt and pepper rim. Amazing. My husband got the salmon salad which he loved and I ordered the Udon Chicken and Dumplings which was amazingly good. I make home made C&D and I'm a food snob. This was incredible. If you're staying at the Inn and assuming this is "just hotel food," let me stop you right there. The Social is in its own league -- inventive, bright, playful cooking that honestly surprised us in the best way. This is the kind of meal you talk about afterward. We started with a little parade of small plates, and every single one hit. The okra crisps -- dressed with chaat masala and lime , were the undeniable star. I'm not kidding when I say they are one of the best bites I've had in a long time. Light, crisp, tangy, warm spice, bright citrus. Whoever dreamed these up deserves a raise. They're addictive in a way okra rarely gets to be!! The Korean corn dog was such a fun dish, super crispy with that sesame-panko crust and the oozy Gruyere. Both sauces were perfect with it, one creamy, one spicy, and together it was just ridiculous. Comfort food with a wink. And it's a Nathan's Hot dog. The best. The crab bisque was rich, silky, and full of flavor without being heavy. Warm, cozy, absolutely delicious. The roasted carrots were another surprise -- smoky, sweet, beautifully charred, sitting on this creamy feta base that tied everything together. And then came the salads, which honestly could go head-to-head with any "fancy" restaurant -- and win. I had the salmon salad, and it was perfection. Fresh herbs, creamy dill cheese, olives, the golden beets, the chimichurri on the salmon -- everything worked. It felt vibrant and generous and satisfying. My husband had the Asian salad, and he kept saying it might be the best salad he has ever had. The smoky skewered shrimp, the cashews, the bright herbs, the soy-mirin egg (he didn't eat it. I did) it was layered and balanced and just so good. The whole experience was thoughtful, delicious, and honestly impressive. This is not "typical hotel food" -- not even close. We decided to stop by for dinner after seeing all the positive reviews. And we are sure glad we did. Our server, Shelby, was so friendly and she provided excellent recommendations, which we took! The way she described the dishes we asked her about truly showed she enjoyed the food as well. She was the best! We tried the okra crisps along with an Italian vinaigrette per Shelby's advice and they were delicious. A very unique way to serve okra as they were like crispy shoe strings. We the tried the roasted fennel bulbs with burrata cheese and that was amazing as well. It had a roasted red pepper sauce on it that was so tasty. What a fantastic new addition to Boone! We went there for lunch a few weeks ago and had a great time. The restaurant has a really inviting feel - lots of tables, a bar, plus a few areas with couches. The service was excellent. Our waiter Matthew was helpful, attentive and an absolute sweetheart. The food was very tasty, I loved the corn ribs and the chicken sandwich!! They should add Toum as dip to order, it was SOOOOO GOOD. A lot of the menu had fun creative twists on familiar staples. I didn't get a cocktail, but I saw some brought to other tables and they looked really lovely. They bring your receipt in a book, which is a really cute detail. I really liked the Social on Main. Upon arrival to Boone, we did a bit of shopping and bar hopping and this was one of the first on our list. Our group of 4 sat at the bar. We did a round of M&M Shots, and I ordered a white wine. The food menu looked good, and it seems like a nice spot to grab a meal or a drink. This is the sister restaurant of the Local down the street, and you can tell they have the vibes figured out. Our bartender Gabby was so nice and attentive. Their bartenders are, to a person, superlative. Haley, Lexi, and Emily (still in-training, though she has more-than-ample experience) were all professional and delightful this Boonerang weekend. If only the establishment would spring for cable during the World Cup, my experience of The Social as a "sports bar" would've been unparalleled compared to the other pretenders who decided the U.S. Open was the only "sport" worth airing. If I'd only come for wings and such, I'd've had no notes. But guys, your salads are culinarily (and decidedly) confused. My burrata was delivered atop a spiral of beefsteak wedges, nestled among wild greens, with zero seasoning, which is a hate crime when it comes to tomatoes; golden beets would've elevated it considerably, normally without much consideration... however. I'd thankfully chosen to add salmon, which was cooked to perfection, saving the dish. Haley suggested salt and pepper, which was a clutch move. Given the pleasant part of my previous experience, the salmon salad I ordered two nights later was even more discombobulated. Emily asked what kind of dressing I'd prefer, and I managed to avoid recoiling from the options provided: bleu cheese, ranch, thousand island... and then, finally, a cilantro-lime vinaigrette - the only suitable option. Instead of a deep plate, this was served essentially as a "bowl" that one might receive from delivery, only in a ceramic vessel. "Crispy" garbanzo beans (?!) were in one section of the plate, worse green olives than came with my martinis in another, four sad cucumber slices and pickled red onions in yet another, and in the saddest section, under-cooked yellow beets - half-run through a mandoline to make matchsticks, only still-connected at one end into slices to make Hell-deemed beet sporks. Again, all atop mixed greens, which are commonly available, even at Wal-Mart. I didn't deign to more than glance at my neighbors' plates, for fear I'd take even more offense, but the people making food at The Social are either under-staffed or inexperienced, as being unserious would likely wash out if anyone were to pay attention. Regardless, management is to blame for such disappointing experiences, and not their cooks, and certainly not their bartenders. Do better by Boone, and stop reinforcing the notion that standards are somehow lower in the High Country. Don't make me go to Macado's when I visit again next year. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time on a Tuesday for lunch, and everything was absolutely amazing -- from the service and drinks to the ambiance and food. Our server even had a really unique server book where guests could leave little notes or sign their names, which I thought was such a fun and personal touch. What a great new addition to the downtown Boone area. Holland was amazing. Friendly, attentive, attended the tableand was overly attentive. She answered all questions quickly and like she knew the menu thoroughly. We started with the chicken to share appetizer. This is a do not miss!!! I could have made this a full meal!!! Don't skip the pickled veggies on the plate as they pair very nice with the fried chicken. For the meal, I had the A BLT and the fries with lime salt. A BLT with avocado on a foccocia. Get in my belly!!! Soooo good. My fellow foodies had the Bahn MI and the Chicken club. We asked Holland if the main dish sandwich of fried chicken breast would be same chicken as the appetizer, yes it is!!!! If u skip the app do enjoy that Sammy!
