Just has the worst experience at Boone Saloon. The blonde manager working tonight had the worst attitude. I've been going here for three years and have always had great service. Boone Saloon is not what it's supposed to be. Our waitress who happened to be the manager checked on us maybe 3 times. Our food was cold. It took about ten minutes before we could flag down a different waiter/bartender who was actually helpful. Once we got the check I asked to speak to the manager. She walked away and came back saying she was the manager. Still had a rude ass attitude. Explained all our concerns And was met with no apology but the price is what is it. I wasn't even talking about the price but the service because of the 20% gratuity that was not deserved. Never again. Three years of great service down the drain. Terrible management. read more

The 1/8 lb burgers are perfect for me. I hate getting a burger that is so large I can't get a full bite in my mouth at once - I can only fit the bottom half or the top half at a time, which doesn't get the full spectrum of flavors all together - not so with these perfectly sized burgers. And they're cooked deliciously, especially with bacon, cheese, and all the toppings. Although the interior of the bar is dark, like a nighttime bar should be, it's nice to sit on the outdoor deck in the back for fresh air, anytime, and sunlight for lunch. Short bouncer at the front might be the funniest thing I have seen in a while, he's super disrespectful with his only reason for working there is to start shit and tell people what to do, feel sorry for him. Bouncers won't even get the manager or owner for you after they are disrespectful. Though I'm not much of a bar person, Boone Saloon is my kind of place. This is a chill bar with plenty of space to spread out, relax, hang out, and have a conversation with friends. There are two levels with plenty of seating, making it great for groups. Best of all, there's an arcade downstairs with pool tables, pinball, Skee-Ball, and old school arcade games. A server at Lost Province Brewing Co down the street, where we stopped for happy hour drinks and appetizers, actually recommended this place to us, so this was our next stop. We ended up staying for a while (no other stops required). Two levels = two bars, both outfitted with TVs. The main level (street level) has a jukebox and stage where live music is played. If you decide to queue up some songs on the jukebox, just know that the staff can skip over any song they don't like. One of my friends requested Escape by Rupert Holmes (The Piña Colada Song) and about 20-30 seconds in, it was skipped over for the next song. Along with the bar and games, the lower level has loveseats and other living room and lounge-like furniture. When we visited, there were four pinball machines, Golden Tee Golf, a racing game, retro 80s arcade cabinets, fighting games like Street Fighter II: Champion Edition and Mortal Kombat 4, shooting games, and a four-player co-op game (Captain America and The Avengers). All in all, it was a nice mix of games and all of the machines were in working order. All games, except for Captain America, cost 25 cents per play. Captain America cost 50 cents. There's a change machine if you need quarters. The Saloon has a decent-looking food menu offering Mexican food, traditional pub grub (e.g. fish and chips, wings, fries), soups, salads, different varieties of mac and cheese, burgers, and several kinds of sandwiches. The prices are reasonable as most dishes are under $10 each. The drinks are reasonably priced as well with most single servings of draft and canned/bottled beer only $2-5 each. They had over a dozen beers on tap and over 20 packaged. They also had over a half-dozen wines by the glass ($7) and bottle ($24). My friends ordered a lot of drinks including pitchers. I didn't drink, but instead ordered a Barritts Bermuda Ginger Beer for $4 + tax. It was yummy. The staff and other patrons were nice. read more

I like Boone Saloon. This place is meaningful to me for several reasons: 1) It was the very first bar I ever went to when visiting Boone before I ultimately moved there, and 2) I went here with my mentor for a celebratory drink and lunch after graduating with my Master's degree. I've been to Boone Saloon late nights a countless number of times. Mostly because I was encouraged to go there by others, but still. I have almost always had a great time. The upstairs is usually an older crowd of 25+, typically requires a $5 or so entry fee, and has live music. The downstairs area is usually younger college folks, is free, and has pool tables and arcade-type games. Both upstairs and downstairs are fun. This place is definitely more divey and is a cigarette smoker's dream. You can easily go outside on the porch, upstairs or down, and smoke. Recently, this place has come under a lot of criticism after some events transpired with upper management, and since then, a lot of folks have personally decided to boycott the place. I don't think it's as busy as it once was, but I'm sure it won't last for long. As much as I disagree and abhor what occurred, this is one of the only dive places left in Boone - especially after Murphy's was transformed into Ransom. read more

Wow.... Wow.... Wow..... Listen up kids and grab a chair it's about to be story time. My girlfriend and I came up from south Florida (Miami/ft Lauderdale area) and canceled our Gatlinburg trip and decided to stay in boone and enjoy a day on Beech Mountain. We tried Proper and The local, both great establishments and after a long day and turning into a late night given some new found injuries acquired on the mountain we found out it would be either the saloon or chain restaurants (which we morbidly avoid while traveling) adding in a side cliff note that I grew up less than 20 minutes from inner city Philly, geno, pats and dirty water subs are, ) being the only places serving food we swung in, grabbed the loaded fries and the chili garlic fries.... Damn on point, with a very respectful door man requesting our IDs, and a great sense of cleanliness and order with some phenomenal artwork and effort to hit many marks... Now into my favorites, I ordered the Philly while my girl ordered and ate a quesadilla to being painfully full... Circle back to my expectation of a Philly, this was absolutely top 3 Phillys I've ever had, including those in Philly; potentially being number 1 and near perfect to add to this. I was mid sentence telling my girl how amazing it was and inadvertently knocked it off the table, she mentioned it to the barkeep (not like the entire bar didn't see me knock it off) and within a matter of maybe 6-8 minutes another sub was out just as amazing. Their fries hit the point so well with a great clean tasting fry and seasoning that carried a heaping loads of flavor without being over bearing. I am so ecstatic and joyed we decided to eat here and as we lock in with local family to come back before the season is over we will most definitely make this an absolute staple of our trip and I highly recommend you do as well... Ok so I'm not one to post poor reviews as I rarely thing they are warranted. However, I did have my first and last horrible experience at this bar. I had a good payday and figured I'd celebrate. I bought food and drink for people who were friendly but maybe had 3 beers that night myself. I ended up meeting a fun group of people who had planned to come back to my place to enjoy the view and fire pit. Well, the group was from out of town and I'm pretty sure the beautiful girl hugging and digging me was maybe one of the bouncers desire for himself. He was watching her most the time and waited until we went out for a smoke. I'm talking to this girl for 15 minutes while he's standing within earshot arms crossed. She was eager to go dance show she kissed me and ran inside. Of those 15 minutes of mad dogging me. Literally right next to us, THIS is when he turns to me and says I've had enough, I'm not allowed back in. 30 seconds after she ran back in and having watched us for 15 minutes. Ok, 3 drinks and now I've had enough? I asked to go get the groups numbers as I had just met them and we had planned an after party. "Nope your too drunk. If they are your friends call them, oh you met today? Can't be friends I suppose..." like bro, I just moved out here and was trying to make friends. 3 drinks and I'm too drunk? Gtfo of here, I am literally shocked because this great night, which I probably spent a few hundred dollars patronizing, that was awesome literally turned into solo firepit and a very angry, yet coherent, email. Well, all of a sudden it comes back as oh, you weren't too drunk, but someone complained about you so we just instantly remove the person for liability reasons. Shocked at who I could have upset, I asked them what I did so I could never do it again. No one seemed to have this answer and if I was required to leave immediately, knowing this girl and waiting 15 minutes to remove me from the property, within 30 seconds of my new friend kissing me and running back inside with her arms back and am immediately complaint has been lodged. Off the property now, don't have their info? I noticed that and now you can't get it. When I could have gotten it the 15 minutes he mad dogged us. I am not a person to see the negativity in places as I know people spite post. But this doesn't add up. Initially I felt awful and confused. My recollection of the night was great and I try my hardest to bring joy to the world. I am conscious of my behavior and act with intention, if I had done something beyond perhaps brushing against someone in a crowd (for which I apologized immediately, how could I have been done so dirty as to ask my removal, which apparently you can do and they guarantee you they "instantly" take action. Instantly was the 15 mins you mad dogged me bro. I literally was right there talking to her and planning the night. I could have got her number easy and the night would have ended as it had started. But 30 seconds after she runs in I'm a threat? I can't get a number? Of the group you saw me hanging out with all night? Honestly I'm upset because you lied and said I was too drunk. I bought many drinks, but don't give me that line because you're lying. Making me look like a fool arguing my position when 21 yo girls are tripping over themselves. The girl I was talking to was way more fucked up and 28. Then saying complaints are handled immediately by staff? But I can talk to her for 15 mins at the mirth of your employee who lied, didn't do his job right for "immediacy" and you can't help explain why someone who felt obligated to ask for my removal for unknown behavior who wanted to correct said behavior. You took my money and ruined my night. I don't believe your story. Then I started telling others and everyone thinks your bouncers are assholes and disgusting. I heard that from over 4 of the few friends I have here. I will not ever spend money at this bar again. I'm a fucking adult and I don't want to be lied to, tricked, lied to again by owners and feel bad about making someone complain. I don't use socials so they would never find me. I waited for them to come back out before the beep arrived and they didn't. New info makes me feel better because I worried about what I'd done for weeks begging for a reply. None. You lied and asked me to come back and be "better?" Idk what I did other than make your bouncer upset. She was pretty gorgeous I get it, but dude you could have let me get her number while we were flirting for 15 minutes! Then immediate threat 30 seconds after she goes in. I used to love this place until a friend of mine came in here and absolutely got disrespected. He has a service animal and whether the dogs harness states it or not, it doesn't matter. You cannot question a service dog but that's not even the point. My friend loves animals more than most humans and will spoil them until the end. He got treated so unfairly because he left his dog outside of the bar while he was inside (remind you that this dog goes paddle boarding with his owner) have a meal. Our party of 10 was very observant of covid protocols and wore a mask 100% of the time walking around. With that said. The "owner" of the bar specifically called out our party (the bar was empty) for one patron kneeling on the ground next to a chair. This patron was a paying customer. The bartender was very helpful and everyone else was extremely nice to our party. TLDR: Awful food, even worse service. As I walked into Boone Saloon, the host told me to take a seat anywhere and that a bartender would be with me as soon as possible. I sat down at a table near the bar and looked longingly towards the bar for more than 10 minutes before someone finally made eye contact with me. He looked confused and I had to ask him if I could see a menu. I ordered a glass of vinho verde. When the server came back with my wine, he asked to check my ID, which had already been checked at the door (I'm 31, for the record). He then started to scurry away before I stopped him and asked if I could order food. I ordered a burger, rare, and the waiter said, "Sure. Well actually, how about medium-rare? I don't know if they can do it rare." I said sure because I didn't want to argue (and in hindsight, it would have been unsafe to order rare meat in a place as clumsy as this one). The server left and I took my first sip of wine. It was dead flat and tasted like the bottle had been open for weeks. Not once did he check on me or ask how my wine was. Instead, I sat sipping ice water waiting for my burger and watching the other employees joking around with each other, looking at their phones, and ignoring customers. About 30 minutes later, a different server arrived with my food. She noticed there was no dressing on my side salad, so she said, "I need to get you some dressing, don't I?" I nodded and said yes please. I told her I thought the wine was flat and stale, and she went back to the bar. She came back and said, "It was definitely flat. I opened a new bottle for you." and replaced the wine with no apology. Never did she or anyone else come back with any dressing, so I ate naked greens, which turned out to be the most tolerable part of the meal. The burger was not rare, not medium-rare, but well done, and I'm not exaggerating. The bun was stiff, stale, and not even toasted, and I couldn't take more than half a bite of it. I'm suspicious of the meat not being from Hickory Nut Gap Farms as the menu had promised, as it was indistinguishable from a fast-food patty. When the original server came to pick up my plate after I was finished eating, he literally said nothing, so as he was walking away, I asked for the check. He came back with the check and said, "Sorry about that first glass of wine; we took if off." I said thank you, but when I looked at the check, I was still charged for a glass of wine! He must have meant they didn't charge me for the un-drank, rotten wine, but they did charge me for its replacement. How generous of them. Overall it seems like this place is run by sloppy college kids, and was deeply disappointing. read more

At Boone Saloon you can find plenty of cheap beers and friendly staff. They have a full food menu too. We only stayed for a couple drinks, but it was a nice quick pit stop during our daily errands. Boone Saloon does not care for the safety of its customers. I am ashamed of the management and ownership. This evening my friend experienced a life-threatening medical event. She went unconscious and seized inside the bar (she was not drunk). While talking about her next steps, the owner and several employees circled us, telling us they couldn't have her lying on the floor and that we had to leave. The owner told us to wait outside (in the rain) for an ambulance or they would call the police. Thankfully we were able to get her immediate medical attention, but the owner and employees at this bar did not care about the health and safety of our friend. They made it clear they cared more about their business than the safety of their customers. read more
