Dog friendly even the cold. Huge cider collection. Knowledgeable staff. Darn to table food truck. Chill or crazy... depends on the day.

    Flight of beers

Decided to come here for beers late on Friday. The place is open until 11pm but does last call at 10:30pm. The people working the bar weren't that talkative but hey, maybe they had a long day. We tried the flight and then got two pints. They do start putting the seating up on top of the tables after last call so it's definitely a "get out of here" vibe. But the beer was decent.

Love trying new places and my wife picked this one out. Very casual place, plenty of beers on tap as well as some hard ciders. I picked a light summer lager. Wife got one of the ciders. Both were good and refreshing. They have bagged snacks but any food comes from a food truck parked outside. We got the Mexican corn off the cob and a pepperoni pizza. Don't bother with the corn. It came with tortilla chips but was so bland I wanted to take it back. Corn on corn chips didn't hit the spot. It got a little better towards the bottom of the cup but the space was too thin and it really lacked flavor. Save your money and pass on it. The pizza was wood fired and was good but certainly not worth $14. My advice is to eat before you come here. There is plenty of seating and beers to sample but don't count on the food from the food truck. We finished our drinks, food and left without ordering a second round. My wife described it as a soccer mom hangout. I have to agree. It wasn't bad, just not our cup of tea.

Celebrating Boone's craft beer culture, AMB is nestled in its very own park with a large outdoor garden area, vast open-air seating, and an inviting covered pavilion. The communal Oktoberfest-style picnic tables that collectively can accommodate up to 250 guests, foster an environment of community and conviviality. AMB offers a thoughtful draft and bottled beer selection and additionally ciders and wines. If you get hungry there's a food truck on site that also serves up your favorite casual fare with wood fired pizzas and a fun variety of snacks and sides. We absolutely loved the vibe and atmosphere and the beers were great too!

Look, I am not a big beer drinker, but my boyfriend loves a good brew - we both had the best beer-drinking experience ever here! I had the Honeydew Honeysuckle - let me tell you, it tastes like a southern summer, and that's coming from a Mississippi girl who grew up licking honeysuckle juice as a special treat. The owner took the time to visit with us and was very authentic and humble. The vibes are impeccable, and we of course had to grab some merch bc it was chef's kiss. Looking forward to stopping by again next trip!

Definitely a great little pub with a lot of unique characteristics that make it a great spot to stop at in the mountains. Definitely a known brewery around these areas that has some pretty decent options in their own right that you will find outside of coming here, but the variety here definitely tops that with a nice atmosphere. I can see why it's a very popular spot here in the middle of the college town. Honestly between the service being good and the variety of a simple combination of indoor outdoor spaces, it's about all you can ask for. Don't get me wrong there's some breweries that have unique things to offer besides this in the mountains at times, but what they have done here is perfect to make everything flow well.

The pizza is amazing the beer is sooo good!

It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We started with the nachos; they were delicious, though I do wish they came with a bit more meat. For mains, the burger was outstanding--probably one of the best we've had in the entire area. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. Definitely worth the wait!

Their bartenders are, to a person, superlative. Haley, Lexi, and Emily (still in-training, though…read moreshe has more-than-ample experience) were all professional and delightful this Boonerang weekend. If only the establishment would spring for cable during the World Cup, my experience of The Social as a "sports bar" would've been unparalleled compared to the other pretenders who decided the U.S. Open was the only "sport" worth airing. If I'd only come for wings and such, I'd've had no notes. But guys, your salads are culinarily (and decidedly) confused. My burrata was delivered atop a spiral of beefsteak wedges, nestled among wild greens, with zero seasoning, which is a hate crime when it comes to tomatoes; golden beets would've elevated it considerably, normally without much consideration... however. I'd thankfully chosen to add salmon, which was cooked to perfection, saving the dish. Haley suggested salt and pepper, which was a clutch move. Given the pleasant part of my previous experience, the salmon salad I ordered two nights later was even more discombobulated. Emily asked what kind of dressing I'd prefer, and I managed to avoid recoiling from the options provided: bleu cheese, ranch, thousand island... and then, finally, a cilantro-lime vinaigrette - the only suitable option. Instead of a deep plate, this was served essentially as a "bowl" that one might receive from delivery, only in a ceramic vessel. "Crispy" garbanzo beans (?!) were in one section of the plate, worse green olives than came with my martinis in another, four sad cucumber slices and pickled red onions in yet another, and in the saddest section, under-cooked yellow beets - half-run through a mandoline to make matchsticks, only still-connected at one end into slices to make Hell-deemed beet sporks. Again, all atop mixed greens, which are commonly available, even at Wal-Mart. I didn't deign to more than glance at my neighbors' plates, for fear I'd take even more offense, but the people making food at The Social are either under-staffed or inexperienced, as being unserious would likely wash out if anyone were to pay attention. Regardless, management is to blame for such disappointing experiences, and not their cooks, and certainly not their bartenders. Do better by Boone, and stop reinforcing the notion that standards are somehow lower in the High Country. Don't make me go to Macado's when I visit again next year.

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

The room walls are thin so we heard a lot of noise from the outside waking us up early in the morning. You also have to pay for parking at 25 a night but there was a lot of construction making it difficult to get our car out. I know not the hotels fault but definitely keep that in mind. They had really nice robes. They also had a sound machine in the room. We had a thing on the wall that would randomly flash at night and beep. We had issues with the bathroom. The door would not close all the way and We could not get hot water when we tried to shower late at night. We had to go to the front desk and they had to call maintenence which took a bit to work through the issue. Eventually they got the hot water back but an annoying time waster. Our favorite part was the location. It was so conveniently located. They have a front door with access to king street and a back door to Howard street which was convenient. We were able to come and go easily. The rooms aren't huge but had everything we needed including a mini fridge and the shower was really nice. Of note- it didn't have a huge window in the room, just a small one towards the ceiling. There was a tv with lots of channels and a channel guide. We received some coupons and recommendations to nearby businesses which was a nice touch. Our experience was a bit different because it was very snowy so we couldn't enjoy the rooftop bar. The parking was also tricky- they have a loading zone right in front for checking in, but we circled the block several times and it was taken every time so it was kind of a pain to unload our car. We also had trouble finding the parking lot (even with the address, directions and map) which is behind the hotel, across the street and diagonal from the hotel. We had to circle a few times to find it. But that may have just been because it was dark and snowing. Our favorite part was definitely the breakfast. It is at the downstairs bar. It is complementary when you purchase the parking pass, and you order what you want from a menu. They have lots of options, including fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and lots of pastries and baked goods from stick boy bakery in town. We love stick boy so this was amazing! So high quality and tasty! They also have other things available for purchase like avocado toast. They also have coffee from a local coffee shop available all day. We would go back!!!
