Great place to eat in Boone! Our food was delicious! I had the Steak and Frites. I was definitely not disappointed. We had really good service and the waiters and waitresses were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We tried to get a table here almost every day of our 5-day trip, but it was packed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We finally smartened up and called a day ahead for a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the nachos; they were delicious, though I do wish they came with a bit more meat. For mains, the burger was outstanding--probably one of the best we've had in the entire area. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance and an all-around good experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth the wait!

We were in town driving through after cutting a Christmas tree down in the mountains. This was a perfect spot to stop for lunch. The service was great and the menu had a ton of options. The BLT was so good- the fried green tomato and goat cheese was so delicious. Would recommend this spot!

We ate here for lunch on spring break while shopping in Boone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great casual vibe and lots of variety on the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the chicken bahn mi. A little different than a traditional bahn mi, but good and flavorful. One kid had the fig sandwich and loved it. One kid had chicken fingers. Husband had the Philly and liked it. They have fried plantains as a side which we lived!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute spot and amazing vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got take out because it had snowed and everything was closing early but we will definitely be back for dine in. The service was fast and friendly and the food was amazing. So many gluten free options!

After a long day of skiing, I was looking for a beverage & a good meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the rustic atmosphere of this place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Enjoyed a seat at the bar and the service was great. I got the Philly sandwich with chips. Delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely a popular place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is street parking or a garage nearby. I recommend this place.

Always a perfect spot to meet friends from 1988 and reminisce at my buddy Andy McDaniel's concrete bar. If they get Two-Hearted I'm moving in.

Really really delicious meal! Had great service the entire visit which I appreciated since it was busy! These nachos were absolutely divine, especially if you love a good sweet and savory combo like me. I also got the Fried Green Tomato BLT with sweet potato fries and totally forgot a photo. But that meal was absolutely delicious as well. I would return

Came here for brunch but ordered off the lunch menu. Large restaurant with plenty of seating and some covered outdoor seating too! Our waitress was polite but seemed busy with tables for a Sunday morning or just didn't check in too often. I have to say the sweet potato fries were amazing. Would return just for those. Overall seems like a pretty decent place to grab a drink and some food.

Came here for Sunday brunch after the place next door took forever. This place was on my list to try so honestly worked out well. There was no wait and the food came out so fast! My blackened goat cheese burger was delicious. The chipotle sauce was really good too. The fresh chips were great with ranch. Overall, the environment was great with both outdoor and indoor seating!

On my recent trip to Boone, my friends and I wanted a night out from the cabin we were staying in and several people recommend The Local to us. This definitely seems like a beloved local bar - and has all the things you'd come to expect from a local bar. Strong drinks at a good price, friendly service, and solid food. We were a group of about 10 on a Saturday night, so I was pleasantly surprised with how short of a wait time we had to be seated. We had started by ordering drinks at the bar and by the time we were almost done with our first round our table was sat. I opted to split the steak frites and fish and chips with my friend. I loved the steak frites. I'm always a sucker for a medium rare steak and some form of potato. While service was friendly, it was a little slow - but I am assuming that's because of our large group on a busy weekend night. Would definitely go back next time I'm in Boone.

    Cheese Kurds app - 10/10!

Appetizers - I go for the cheese curds, but the loaded nachos and brussel sprouts are also popular choices.

We stopped at South End Brewing for lunch and loved the cozy, laid-back vibe. I tried a pumpkin beer while Steve went for an espresso martini--both were fantastic choices for a fall afternoon. Since portions are usually huge when traveling and we don't like carrying leftovers, we decided to share the Tuna Poke Power Bowl ($20). It came with quinoa and spring mix as the base, topped with edamame, cucumbers, guacamole, cabbage, crispy wontons, and fresh ahi tuna. It was flavorful and beautifully presented, though I honestly couldn't find much quinoa--it felt more like a salad than a grain bowl. Still, everything tasted fresh, the service was wonderful, and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely a great spot to stop if you're exploring Boone!

Their food menu also offered a good selection. My wife and I decided to share an order of loaded fries to start, and then the "white buffalo" pizza. I enjoy white pizza, and enjoy buffalo chicken pizza...but this was the first time I've ever seen them together. The food was great, everything, tasted really good, and had good flavors. The Game Day IPA and Lost Province IPA's were both also very tasty Being a Friday night, they had a live musician, playing great music, which we really enjoyed while we ate and took in the atmosphere. I'd pass this recommendation on as well, and would return to try some of their other varried menu next time I visit Boone

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.
