Last time I was here I was vomiting ^ my friend started writing that review for me; I'm sad I thwarted his response. Luckily, I've never been sick at TApp before. I use to visit here one a week but talk about the worst managed bar/restaurant in this town and it's my opinion it's the Tapp room. New waitstaff are rude and the punk music during lunch hours, cartoons on and no World Cup when an important game is on just makes me not want to visit this place. My friends and I walked in there on our way back from a football where one of my friends had fallen and dislocated her knee. We carried her to Tapp house so she could sit down and get ice. Once in there we called an EMT friend to come help. After the EMT arrived one of the the workers there approached us to cuss us out about the way he parked. While me might not have done the best job he was fully in a parking spot. I explained our situation to the worker, and he proceeded to say that he was also an EMT, then cuss us out, and then walk away without offering any help after he watched us carry her in while she sobbed and I got her an ice pack from the bartender. The workers certainly could have been MUCH nicer and more helpful instead of being extremely rude and causing much more stress to my friend that was already in a very unfortunate situation. Also a phone was forgotten there and multiple of us called them at least 10 times, not a single call went through and their voicemail box was full. We couldn't even leave a message with information for them to get in touch with us if they found the phone. We had to have someone else walk back and ask for it. read more

Awful employees. Truly foul people. The bouncer Eli with curly hair was extremely rude to my friends. He cursed at them and was super aggressive. This is crazy. They close at 9. We arrive and order at 840, because we checked with our amazing and super competent and sweet server. Midrare burger. And out so HOT it BURNED MY TONGUE. Was so burnt the whole thing was crunchy as all get out. Not a speck of salt. Bun was room temp/cold, and fries were perfect. Ok, TApp Room, you have a new crush! On a recent trip to Boone for ASU Alumni Day, the Alumni Association held a get together here. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had scoped out the menu online & was really impressed with all the offerings. Our college-aged waitress was really friendly & efficient. She checked on us a few times and was never overbearing. I settled for the Crispin Cider to drink (AMAZING) & the Asian Fusion burger with fries. Within 10 minutes, my meal came out. The burger was HUGE. I wish there were words to describe how delicious this burger was. The burger was juicy & the red onion, sriricha sauce, cucumber, & avocado toppings really set it off! The fries were hot & crisp. The bar isn't huge, but I love that it's filled with ASU pictures & memorabilia. They have plenty of TVs that of course had basketball games & ESPN. read more

After a tiring day of hiking, we came here to unwind. Of course we had our 18month old precious cargo with us and I was so glad this was one the few bars in the area that had a high chair :) I am not a big beer drinker, but I was interested in getting acquainted to it. The waitress were friendly and brought in some beer to taste. I loved the grapefruit beer. My beer lover husband said it Tasted nothing like beer, but may be that's why I liked it We ordered three appetizers, tapproom nachos , beer pretzels and fried mac n cheese. We loved all three of them. The nachos were top notch and so were the dipping sauces for the pretzels. Though they had a high chair, they didn't really have a kids menu. However our daughter did enjoy their fried mac n cheese. The environment was great...reminded us of being back in school. Drinks: The whiskey sour my boyfriend's sister and aunt had were good... I tried the beer flight for around $5... I had the North Coast Prangster, French Broad 13 Rebels and the Anderson Valley Winter Solstice... I loved them all... Food: The beer pretzel appetizer comes with two huge, full sized pretzels and mustard... They were crispy on the outisde, soft on the inside and piping hot with just the right amount of salt... The queso that you can order on the side has a simply divine spiciness... It was packed one heck of a wallop... Loved it! I ordered the BBQ sandwich and I was incredibly happy with my decision... The sauce was a little zesty and there was just a perfect amount of sauce... It didn't make the bread soggy, but the pork wasn't dry at all... Instead of the fries, I ordered the potato chips and they were simultaneously crisp and chewy in all the best ways... Its your average college bar, in a college town. What nice about this place is that its in walking distance for me without having to worry about drinking and driving, (only if i went out more). First time I wen there it was good the waitress was friendly and even though it was kind of busy she kept up with the orders. This time around, the waitress acted like she didn't even want to there. And being lunch time it had your small crowd of people here and there, and since they opened other side call Annex they have been getting a lot of people. The food here is good, could work more on having their severs a little more peppy and not like I don't want to be here kind of thing. I ordered 5 tacos at 6 o clock, 30 minutes later I say that I've been waiting 30 mins for my tacos to where they say they're getting on it, cool. Another 30 mins later I ask the manager Kurt if my tacos were ready and he tells me he just put the order into the kitchen, "ok can I get a free beer or something while I'm waiting?" Kurt responds with "Oh I was going to but you were being a d*ck". After waiting an hour and this "Manager" Kurt I told him to just give me my money back to where he came back and threw a 10$ bill at me. Great location across the street from Appalachian State's campus. Nothing too quirky or outlandish about this bar, just a good location, friendly staff, great vibe, and good beer selection. A few nice TVs make it a great place to catch the game. I went in on a Sunday afternoon (non-NFL) and they had an Italian soccer match on Fox Soccer, which means there's more where that came from. I have been going to Tapp Room for years, ever since I moved to Boone. I go every Wednesday night for their $2 tacos. However, after last night, they have lost my business for the foreseeable future. Last night, I waited in line for 30 minutes just to be let in the door. When it was finally our turn, we got turned away because my little sister wasn't 21. It was 8:30 at this point, way too early for bars to be carding! There was nothing posted and nothing was said to me when I called earlier in the week to make sure there wasn't going to be any kind of 21+ night during the week. I understand that last night was LDOC, but that's a poor excuse for a restaurant to deny business to paying customers. Considering the fact i KNEW what to expect i was not disappointed. The general decor shouts that is location is a typical college type sports bar. Typically this is not a place i would go to but since i had tried the Lilys Snack bar which yielded better than expected results i figure it might not hurt to try this place as well. The food while nothing exceptional is exactly what one would expect from such a location. The tastes were within reason of other such places i have been too and the service was far better than most places i have been to here so far. I have seen some reviews of bad service but mine was quite good. The prices were in range of what was expected so no complaints there either. It is nothing special at all but hard to find any faults with either. I would consider coming here simply to mingle with the local crowds while drinking and a simple snack. read more

I am a student at Appalachian State University and a regular at Tapp room. Today marks the first time I have received bad service here. As I was mid meal, I walked away from the bar for not even two minutes and the staff was such in a rush trying to close that they threw away my half eaten meal and didn't even say sorry or offer a refund and/or to make me new food. After I confronted Marco ( a bouncer, who was very rude and was intimidating), and the bar tender about it they didn't even say the words "sorry" or try to compensate me for my half eaten meal they threw away. It is a shame that these members of the crew had such poor attitudes and poor character that it reflected negatively on Tapp Room's customer service and overall restaurant appearance. The TApp room always has numerous drink specials as well as a food special, usually for $6 or under (which is ideal for a college student).
