We came to this restaurant as an opportunity to eat a warm delicious meal at our inn with a beautiful view of the blue ridge mountains. The ambiance did not disappoint and we were able to sit in front of the windows overlooking the outside. Our service was warm and friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our meals. Our favorite items we enjoyed were the Brussel Sprouts and the Turtle Cheesecake (from Stick Boy Bakery). Some feedback; the short rib wontons had good flavor however we wondered how the meat, while full of flavor, was dry texturally. During a one-week stay in the area with my family, we chose to dine at The Table at Crestwood based on its reputation and pricing, expecting a more elevated overall experience. The ambiance is pleasant, with a nice setting and attractive views, but ultimately nothing memorable or distinctive enough to justify the positioning or cost. The food was acceptable, yet uninspiring. For the price point, we expected more refinement, creativity, and depth of flavor. The menu itself is very limited, offering few choices, which further amplifies expectations, unfortunately, those expectations were not met. The service was friendly, and the staff was courteous; however, the experience lacked polish and professionalism. The service felt casual and inconsistent with what one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. The wine list is minimal, with very few compelling selections, and the bar program is underwhelming. Cocktails and offerings feel basic, again falling short of what the pricing and setting suggest. Overall, this is an okay dining experience, but not one that aligns with its cost or reputation. Had a party of 5 to celebrate my son's App State graduation. Ceremony ran long so gave them a quick call and they couldn't have been more accommodating. When we arrived our table was ready and a needed cocktail was quickly delivered. The menu is not overbearing and has enough to cover most tastes. Some of the highlights were the mushroom soup which was fantastic. Lamb chop brined and cooked perfectly. Trout, filet, shrimp and grits. Everything was spot on. Service was attentive and professional. Overall a wonderful night with a great atmosphere and vibe. The two stars are because our server was solid. If not for that, I would give zero stars. The bar tender was insulting, and the food was the worst food I have been served in the region. I ordered a craft cocktail (Tequila). The presentation was horid and the pour was maybe an ounce (including the cherry). See photo. I brought it up to the bartender and, with a smile, asked him if he could improve the situation. He offered no remedy. He stated "I followed the recipe." I ordered the meatloaf. This meatloaf was so overcooked it could have been used as weapon. Additional, it was void of any flavor. The service was very good. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. The location, view and ambience was excellent; pretty incredible in fact. The food was marginal. My test for a restaurant is "can I make it this good at home" . The blackened salmon was far too salty. The blackening enhances any additional salt. It was almost too salty to eat and I had to scrape the crust a bit to tolerate it. I can and have done better at home. The brined pork chop was also too salty. Much more tolerable and very tasty. We went here for our "would've been" wedding night dinner and Colton, Becky and Danielle went above and beyond to make sure we had a special evening and provided exceptional service. What a great experience! We were greeted by a very polite and friendly hostess that took us to a window table with a great view. We were quickly greeted by our waitress, Chloe who was fantastic. Had a great personality and had some very good recommendations. One we decided on what we were going to have for dinner we went for a bottle of wine that was delish. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer and they were by far the best I ever had. Amazing and a must have. My wife had the salmon and I swear I saw here eyes roll in the back of her head. Perfectly cooked and as a result it was devoured. I had the paella that was also perfectly cooked but I was not able to devour it due to the amount that was served but I was happy to take some home. Standouts, (it was hard to choose because all so good) were the buttermilk fried chicken and the donut bread pudding. The service was equally remarkable, very attentive and fun. We each got something different, and I'd definitely order my trout again (first time trying local trout and it was yum!). But to be honest we'd also order the scallops and grits again too. My family and I got the opportunity to eat Thanksgiving dinner at The Table. We absolutely loved it!! We got there thirty minutes early and hung out in the bar while we waited. The bartender was extremely friendly and the drinks she made were amazing. Our waiter came into the bar to get us when it was time to be seated and promptly took our drink order. He was very attentive the whole time we were there. In fact all of the staff were very friendly and you could tell that they had a very good rapport within the group. The food was very good. Although the Turkey was a little dry the taste was on point. The ham was very good. I loved the stuffing and the mashed potatoes. The carrots were a little sweet but they balanced out the savory ness of everything else. The desserts were all completely amazing! If I had one complaint it would be that they used paper plates but to me that was definitely not a deal breaker. Our room was spacious and had a nice fireplace in it. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, silverware, glasses, pots and pans. The refrigerator was very nice. We will definitely be coming back to this resort in the future. This was our first visit to Table at The Inn at Crestwood. We have passed by it for more than a decade as it is not far from our place in Blowing Rock (mostly on the way to a restaurant we love just a bit further down the road!) and it honestly never had good reviews. I was having a hard time getting into our usual spots and noted much improved reviews for Table and we took a chance, and mostly glad we did! The positives: excellent food! Everything we had was quite good, from a special appetizer (surf and turf skewer), to a well cooked filet mignon, to a very nice mountain trout, to my wife's grilled Caesar salad and tempura cauliflower (she is pescatarian and was trout saturated hence the small plate option). We sat outside on a lovely terrace overlooking their courtyard perched on the hillside. It's a nice spot...outside as. So now for the negatives - what an odd place the Inn is! My son pegged it as "looks like an old summer camp" and that's a good description. The cottages and main house of the Inn are tired at best - it needs a remodel or maybe a tear down. The path to Table includes an entry via either a tired lounge area or a cavernous events room that looks disused, with huge windows that needed cleaning - it is just strange and we almost left upon seeing it! Lastly, the prices are quite high. I would not complain as the quality ranks up there with other local spots we like at similar prices, but the experience of Table overall is a cut below because of the "summer camp" vibe of the Inn. Yes, sounds snobby, you got me there, but that stuff impacts the overall value and rating for me at least. If you go, try to sit outside (we did not see the main dining room for more than a passing glance, but it looked OK) and go to enjoy the food. To be honest, good food but not a spot we are likely to frequent due to the overall experience., hence a four (5 for the food, 3 or less for atmosphere). Too bad, maybe the chef needs to open up in a new spot or convince the owners to invest in the property. read more

This was the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant, and for $35/ person for a Thanksgiving buffet Was depressing to boot! We had hoped to join our daughter for a wonderful warm dinner to celebrate the holiday. We hadn't heard great reviews. Well it was just plain terrible. Let's start with the first disappointment. The room they sat us in. Cold, a view of the parking lot, and not even piped in music. Just a boring room, no atmosphere and mostly empty for their 5:30 sitting. The service was ok, they took our drink order and the wine was good. But heading into the buffet which was situated around the back of the bar was weird and then the buffet itself! Awful. Dry stuffing, dry turkey, only turkey breat, in a chaffing dish, Luke warm. And the sides! Let's see, carrots in a syrupy mess, gloppy mashed potatoes, and a green bean casserole that looked like it sat there all day. The salad was good, n But looked t Like the mixed greens came right out of a bag from Sisco. The pumpkin cheesecake was good. But let's just say when I made the reservations the menu said roasted vegetables. And my vegan daughter had no choices to eat. For $35 a person I expected a turkey carving station and more choices . The worst part? PAPER PLATES!!!! That's right paper plates. They were chinet, but paper plates. In a restaurant. Charging $35 a person. Now we get to the check. It comes, we and we were charged $179 for the 3 of us. Upon inspection: surprise! They added a 30% tip. We were flabbergasted. We really enjoyed my birthday dinner at Table. The view, the excellent service, the delicious menu, near perfect. I would be happier to give 4.5 stars. We started with the Pan-Seared Scallops and they were beyond perfection - not overdone or underdone, with a creamy and flavorful (but not overpowering) sweet pea risotto that was the perfect compliment. For entrees, I had the Duck Confit Cannelloni and it was so good that I will have a hard time not ordering it again in an effort to try something new. The duck was succulent and tender and the pasta (rolled to look like enchiladas), was topped with a deliciously fresh nasturtium pesto. This all sat on a roasted red pepper purée and it was a wonderful marriage of flavors. My bf had the special of the night, an 8 oz. ribeye with crabmeat and gorgonzola atop Yukon mash with a Cabernet demi-glacé. His steak was cooked perfectly and just the right temp. The dish was very good, only slightly too much topping as the gorgonzola overpowered everything else and about halfway through his meal he moved the topping aside to enjoy the rest of his steak. All in all a very good meal in a lovely setting. We enjoyed sitting on the patio to relax afterwards and will definitely be back to Table and to the Inn at Crestwood. read more

we decided to come here to eat and watch the sunset.. but wasn't very satisfied with our service. it took a while for our drinks to come (about 10-15 minutes) and appetizers came another 20-30 minutes later. people who came in after us got their drinks and bread before us. we had to ask for our silverware and bread as well. the appetizers tasted decent. once our entrées came, the 8 oz. filet i ordered was way over cook. i had asked for a medium rare, but instead got a dry steak with no color. we returned it and got a new steak, which tasted much better. the sunset view was nice. we got there at about 7:10 and left at 9:15-ish. read more

Disappointed is what best describes this visit. My wife and I decided to try The Table for our anniversary and left highly dissatisfied. Upon arrival we waited to be greeted as there was no host at the host table. Thankfully a server to the wedding taking place there saw us and was able to find the person to seat us for our reservation. The host was quite personable and showed us to our table. What stood out as we sat, there 3-4 tables just sitting there that hadn't been cleaned up from previous dinners. They stayed like that with old plates and glasses for quite a time. This gave us pause and questioning was this really what we thought it was going to be. We ordered drinks and were disappointed with a blue margarita and a overly sweetened old fashioned. When we see the option for a charcuterie board we like to give it a try so we did here. Wow, what a way to start the meal off wrong. It literally was lunch meat and basic cheese. No intros to what was what on the plate and a really sad attempt to call that charcuterie. That was a basic left over cheese plate at best. The waitress did understand our disappoinment and swapped it out for the pretzel appetizer. This was slightly better albeit just frozen pretzels warmed for serving. Dinner was filets for both of us. Both over cooked at medium to medium well when ordered medium rare. Overall a sad experience. Maybe a good place if you're staying at the Inn, but don't make a drive for this place. read more

I'm currently eating here for Thanksgiving and it would be comic if this was not my only option for food today. This is the most disappointing and sub-par restaurant I've ever been to. First of all, there is only one hostess that has to run back and make sure every table is cleaned, then come back and take people to their tables. It took 15 minutes of standing in a line to be seated, even though we had a reservation. Then, we get seated in the bar, in a tiny corner table without a view. Arguably the only thing worth one second of consideration is the view from the main dining room, which we can't even enjoy even though we made a reservation. The buffet was DISGUSTING. I don't think it's been cleaned all day, and when we showed up everything was completely empty, all that was left was food stains on the tablecloths and freezing cold sweet potato halves. It looked as if the food had been sitting out all day. A woman and her family were seated IN THE BUFFET ROOM, it was the only table in there and it was bizarre. The water and food are all self-serve, I'm not even sure how this is being run so poorly with so many waiters that have nothing to do but run drinks from the bar. Speaking of the bar, that's where the manager sits and talks to her employees indignantly about how people are angry with their situation. Why wouldn't they be? This is a huge disappointment, and it's not like we can go anywhere else -- it's thanksgiving! I hope this place either shuts down or gets new management because it's simply unfair to be such a horribly managed place in a tourist town. read more

We visited for our anniversary and the only saving grace about our experience was the food. The service staff did NOTHING for us for our anniversary, not a complimentary dessert or anything. Every other year that we've gone out, every other restaurant has provided us with something for the special occasion. We asked for more bread while waiting for our food, we were told no problem and then were never brought any bread. Ordered bacon on our burger and extra sauce, it took my husband finishing his entree before I ever got the bacon or the extra sauce. What a disappointment! What a lovely dinner we had at Table. The atmosphere was lovely, we sat in the room next to the fireplace, so romantic. We ordered drinks from the specialty cocktail menu and it was delicious, I got the Lavender Thyme Lemonade and I wished I had 3. Our waitress, Aj, was lovely as well. So polite and sweet! All of our food came quickly. The Malaysian curry mussels were amazing, the spices in it came from a local spice farm/store close by. The lobster bisque and French onion soup were also amazing. To eat, I had the shrimp and grits and they were amazing! We even took some home and it was still great the next day simply being microwaved. The sweet pea risotto was great as well. We went with an 11 year old and the restaurant was still friendly for him. We ordered him a cheeseburger. Overall, the staff was great and helpful, the food was delicious and was brought out fast, the interior of the restaurant was beautiful and the atmosphere relaxing. I can't wait to come again!
