Love this place but needs a good update and sharing. The pasta was too watery but usually is good. They seem busy but theure not. Love the wine and lighten

Great atmosphere and service. However, I was disappointed in the sautéed Mountain Rainbow Trout, it was very mushy. It did not have a nice sautéed texture with the abundant flavor of the capers. I seem to remember it being delicious the last time I had it. The appetizer of fried Brussel Sprouts were delicious though.

Twigs was so exceptional in all aspects. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and really enjoyed our experience. The food was amazing! We both ordered filets and they were cooked perfect. The fried green tomatoes and shrimp cocktail were delish. The vibe was really nice with dim lighting and well set table scapes. The food came out promptly and my water cup was never empty, the team did an exceptional job!

I came here with my aunt and her friends. The service was great, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was soft lighting, relaxing and vibrant.

What a magical place...the food and service are awesome. You can tell that this is a hot spot for locals. My friend and I sat at the bar as we waited for our table to be ready. We enjoyed the vibe at the bar so much that we canceled the table and stayed at the bar. They had two specials, one was grouper and the other was steak. We got both and shared...everything was seasoned well and very fresh and tasty. They have a full bar and wonderful friendly bartenders, Chelsea and Brian. I would recommend if you are in Lenoir area to give this place a try.

We arrived to Banner Elk/Blowing Rock area on Wednesday (three days ago). We had not been to North Carolina nor this mountain area, so were a little nervous about where to dine. I saw a ton of great reviews, plus got recommendations in a Facebook group to check out Twigs. We tend to be picky eaters in terms of finding fresh and good quality food. I reserved about a month prior at Twigs and hope for the best. I will say that Twigs did not disappoint in the ambiance, food taste and quality. They had a kids menu (that even included filet mignon), so my daughters were able to eat food portioned for them. I ordered a curry mango soup which was my favorite- very fresh and flavorful. I am from Miami, so I enjoy international flavors and sometimes don't expect to find them in other parts of the US. This was delicious! I also ordered the Peached BBQ Duck Tenders, which was divine. The sauce was fruity but also warm and the meat extremely tender without the usual greasy fast you find in duck dishes. My husband ordered a special which was a steak (forgot the cut) with a balsamic reduction sauce and Brussels sprouts. It was an enormous steak and I didn't think my husband-the world's most discerning eater lol- wouldn't finish it, but he did and he was really impressed. I don't know about how Twigs sources ingredients and foods, but I am almost sure there is a very talented chef behind their amazing menu. The ambiance was also cozy, and very cute in the way they tie their Twigs name with the wood/twigs decor. The only drawback was the wait time. We were attended at the exact time of our reservation, which I appreciated. The food did take about 1 hour to come out. It was the day before Thanksgiving and I'm sure the small town restaurant was swamped with out of town red, so I don't really count it against them given that they delivered. The cost was also reasonable given that we had appetizers and 4 dishes. All in all, a great stop if you're looking for a not-lazy menu with delicious flavors while still having the small town feel.

Twigs was delightful. I was advised to get there right when they open to snag a place at the bar if I didn't have reservations. Much to my surprise, it isn't just the bar seats, there are actual tables up for grabs in the bar area as well. Drastically different feel from the dining room. Borders on divey as compared to white table cloth. Good wine selection. The bar filet was tasty and reasonably priced.

We found parking on a side street near Blowing Rock Brewing, so decided to enjoy a drink and get some lunch. We were seated quickly, near a heater, which was nice to help us warm up after being on the mountain. A waiter came by with menus to take our order. We asked for some suggestions, but he was a little less than enthused to offer advise. They had a good variety of beers, so my wife and I each got one, and shared them. We got the Pina Colada Kolsch and the Cloud Rise Hazy Ipa. Both were tasty, the Pina Colada Kolsch had a much stronger pineapple flavor than I expected, but in a good way. For food we started with the white cheddar poblano, which I expected to be more of a liquid queso for some reason. It was instead for of a soft, spread, which was really good, and paired well with the chips. And then we split the Turkey Reuben, which I figured would be made with deli meat, instead, it was warm, cooked chunks of turkey, really great flavor, and hit the spot for us. The sides with the sandwiches were a bit lacking, only offering hot chips, and green beans....I've never gotten the whole hot chip craze, but green beans just seamed like too odd of a side option for a sandwich It was a good visit, and a good meal, to get us back on our feet. Overall, a nice space, with bar seating, a back room, a back and front patio, plenty of space to hang out, relax and enjoy their beer. Food and drink were both good and worth a visit if you're in the area.

Traveling solo, I sat at the bar and found the service friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout my visit. My drink stayed filled, and the staff did a great job making a solo diner feel comfortable. I started with the soup, which was excellent and a great way to begin the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the large mac and cheese. The portion was generous, rich, and very satisfying after a long day of riding in the mountains. Everything was served hot and prepared with care. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making it a great place to unwind after spending the day exploring the area. The restaurant felt welcoming without being overly formal, and I never felt rushed during my meal. Overall, I had a very good experience. Good food, attentive service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I would gladly return the next time I'm in Blowing Rock.

Hidden Gem in Blowing Rock…read more After spending the morning at Grandfather Mountain, I took the scenic route into Blowing Rock and stumbled onto an absolute gem. Hellbender Bed & Beverage and Bistro Roca share the same space now, and the result is one of the most charming spots I've found in the High Country. The outdoor patio was beautiful, with flowers everywhere, cozy seating areas, fire pits, and plenty of dogs lounging alongside their owners. The gravel patio was a little uneven, so my table had a slight tilt, but honestly, the atmosphere more than made up for it. I started with a glass of Crémant de Loire. Crisp, cold, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted after a morning of mountain exploring. For lunch, I ordered the Moules Frites. The mussels arrived swimming in a rich, flavorful broth with basil and sun-dried tomatoes, alongside a generous pile of perfectly cooked fries. The combination with the sparkling wine was fantastic. I cleaned the plate. The service was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. My only suggestion is a little more attention to the details. If you're serving mussels, a spoon is almost essential for enjoying that incredible broth. A smaller seafood fork would also make fishing out the mussels easier. Minor things, but details that can elevate a great meal into an exceptional one. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. My entrée and glass of bubbles came in around $23, which felt like a great value considering the quality, portion size, and setting. I skipped dessert only because I was determined to finish every last fry, then headed into town to walk off lunch and hunt for something sweet. If I return--and I absolutely would--I might even stay at the inn. The cottages looked adorable, and the whole property felt warm and inviting. Just a short walk from downtown Blowing Rock, this place delivers on atmosphere, food, and mountain-town charm. Five stars for the food. Four stars for service. Five stars overall because I'd happily come back tomorrow. Life is too short to eat mediocre food. Get out there and stuff your face.

For my dinner I ordered the Wood Fried Brussels. The Brussel sprouts were not caramelized like I had at other places but it was very good and probably healthier. There were a lot of good flavors with the beets, candied pepitas, pickled peppers and the saffron aioli. I would recommend this dish. Others at the table ordered the Cobb Salad, classic wedge with salmon, & the Artisan pizza. Unfortunately, the salmon was not completely cooked so it went uneaten. Two people in our party ordered diet cokes which were fountain drinks. The diet cokes were not good because there was no carbonation. The pizza and Cobb salad were good. If you eat here during the colder months, I recommend asking for a seat inside. That seemed like it would have been a cozier experience.
