Sautéed Rainbow Mountain Trout
Kelley R.

Great atmosphere and service. However, I was disappointed in the sautéed Mountain Rainbow Trout, it was very mushy. It did not have a nice sautéed texture with the abundant flavor of the capers. I seem to remember it being delicious the last time I had it. The appetizer of fried Brussel Sprouts were delicious though.

Twigs was so exceptional in all aspects. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and really enjoyed our experience. The food was amazing! We both ordered filets and they were cooked perfect. The fried green tomatoes and shrimp cocktail were delish. The vibe was really nice with dim lighting and well set table scapes. The food came out promptly and my water cup was never empty, the team did an exceptional job!

I came here with my aunt and her friends. The service was great, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was soft lighting, relaxing and vibrant.

What a magical place...the food and service are awesome. You can tell that this is a hot spot for locals. My friend and I sat at the bar as we waited for our table to be ready. We enjoyed the vibe at the bar so much that we canceled the table and stayed at the bar. They had two specials, one was grouper and the other was steak. We got both and shared...everything was seasoned well and very fresh and tasty. They have a full bar and wonderful friendly bartenders, Chelsea and Brian. I would recommend if you are in Lenoir area to give this place a try.

We arrived to Banner Elk/Blowing Rock area on Wednesday (three days ago). We had not been to North Carolina nor this mountain area, so were a little nervous about where to dine. I saw a ton of great reviews, plus got recommendations in a Facebook group to check out Twigs. We tend to be picky eaters in terms of finding fresh and good quality food. I reserved about a month prior at Twigs and hope for the best. I will say that Twigs did not disappoint in the ambiance, food taste and quality. They had a kids menu (that even included filet mignon), so my daughters were able to eat food portioned for them. I ordered a curry mango soup which was my favorite- very fresh and flavorful. I am from Miami, so I enjoy international flavors and sometimes don't expect to find them in other parts of the US. This was delicious! I also ordered the Peached BBQ Duck Tenders, which was divine. The sauce was fruity but also warm and the meat extremely tender without the usual greasy fast you find in duck dishes. My husband ordered a special which was a steak (forgot the cut) with a balsamic reduction sauce and Brussels sprouts. It was an enormous steak and I didn't think my husband-the world's most discerning eater lol- wouldn't finish it, but he did and he was really impressed. I don't know about how Twigs sources ingredients and foods, but I am almost sure there is a very talented chef behind their amazing menu. The ambiance was also cozy, and very cute in the way they tie their Twigs name with the wood/twigs decor. The only drawback was the wait time. We were attended at the exact time of our reservation, which I appreciated. The food did take about 1 hour to come out. It was the day before Thanksgiving and I'm sure the small town restaurant was swamped with out of town red, so I don't really count it against them given that they delivered. The cost was also reasonable given that we had appetizers and 4 dishes. All in all, a great stop if you're looking for a not-lazy menu with delicious flavors while still having the small town feel.

Bar Filet with Gorgonzola butter

Twigs was delightful. I was advised to get there right when they open to snag a place at the bar if I didn't have reservations. Much to my surprise, it isn't just the bar seats, there are actual tables up for grabs in the bar area as well. Drastically different feel from the dining room. Borders on divey as compared to white table cloth. Good wine selection. The bar filet was tasty and reasonably priced.

Blowing Rock Brewing - Grilled chicken caesar wrap

Great experience! We went on a Thursday night and they were quickly able to seat our large party!…read more They have lots of beer options and had a variety of food options. The southern fried chicken sandwich was really good! As far as sides- they only have 2 options- chips or green beans but the chips were homemade and delicious! The server was very quick and attentive and the vibes in the restaurant were fun! They also have plenty of outdoor seating.

We found parking on a side street near Blowing Rock Brewing, so decided to enjoy a drink and get some lunch. We were seated quickly, near a heater, which was nice to help us warm up after being on the mountain. A waiter came by with menus to take our order. We asked for some suggestions, but he was a little less than enthused to offer advise. They had a good variety of beers, so my wife and I each got one, and shared them. We got the Pina Colada Kolsch and the Cloud Rise Hazy Ipa. Both were tasty, the Pina Colada Kolsch had a much stronger pineapple flavor than I expected, but in a good way. For food we started with the white cheddar poblano, which I expected to be more of a liquid queso for some reason. It was instead for of a soft, spread, which was really good, and paired well with the chips. And then we split the Turkey Reuben, which I figured would be made with deli meat, instead, it was warm, cooked chunks of turkey, really great flavor, and hit the spot for us. The sides with the sandwiches were a bit lacking, only offering hot chips, and green beans....I've never gotten the whole hot chip craze, but green beans just seamed like too odd of a side option for a sandwich It was a good visit, and a good meal, to get us back on our feet. Overall, a nice space, with bar seating, a back room, a back and front patio, plenty of space to hang out, relax and enjoy their beer. Food and drink were both good and worth a visit if you're in the area.

Went for Christmas lunch and it was AWFUL. Just AWFUL. Minimal offerings with a carving "station"…read morethat only offered bloody roast beef. Weird salad, of sorts. Cold popovers. Hard bread smeared with some cream cheese and topped with 2 whole red grapes. Scalloped potatoes cooked to mush, canned yams with some marshmallows melted on top, green bean something from cans, "creamed" spinach that was thawed frozen chopped spinach with breadcrumbs on top-- nothing "creamed" about it. Half the buffet was hours-old leftover breakfast items like rubbery scrambled eggs, dry grits, and -- the worst-- alarmingly undercooked quiche served refrigetator-cold. Thought of the quiche still makes me a little queasy. Dessert station was weirdly dominated by no fewer than five whole buttermilk pies -- the only pie offered. SHAME ON CHETOLA for even offering this, and at upwards of $100 per person. My fault for not checking recent reviews but it is hard to see how anything could go downhill as far as Timblerlake's has. Ugh. Just terrible.

Even though I was told the baked goat cheese would take 15-20 mins (& was totally find with that wait), it took 40 mins for the wedge salad and baked goat cheese. The food was really great once it finally came. The delay really killed the experience which was unfortunate because our server was really sweet and friendly and the vibe was pretty laid back and nice. Would recommend keeping kids out of bar seats & sports on the TVs at the bar.
