We waited about 50 minutes to get pizza and soup and the pizza was not fully cooked and soggy, but I will say we did get a refund for the pizza the food was OK not the best. I've had better for sure. And there was a bunch of people just sitting around, including the chef on his iPad at the bar very unprofessional also the waitress went over to the bar to a random lady to ask if the pizza was cooked enough and the lady flipped over the pizza and looked at it. On our last night of vacay, we decided to order in. The reviews seemed decent with the price point being the main concern but we were willing to give it a try. The pepperoni pizza was extremely basic, so much so that we regretted not ordering from a pizza chain. Not awful but not something we'd want to get again. The lasagna was a huge serving that could feed 2-3 people. Not bad, not great, but nothing to write home about and again, nothing I would ever order again. Last up garlic knots. Fairly plain. After a bite or two, everyone was done. The price was high but would have been ok if the food had been good. Will definitely not be ordering from here again and will stick to a chain for pizza/pasta. If you're looking to be insulted by the chef then come here. The chef had a professionalism of a 4 year old. Instead of handling food being sent back graciously he chose to attack and tell a female that she "had no taste and just because she didn't like it to get over it and that it was made right". First off, we never said it wasn't made right. Just that it wasn't made tasty. The dish we got was very plain. The Chef did not go "above and beyond" to make up for it. Salad, soup and garlic knot lunch special was outstanding, the salad was a very generous size and carefully prepared, there is no iceberg lettuce in this, it is high-quality Romain, onions cucumbers, also no shredded cheese, the way I like it. Highly recommend the Pasta Fagioli soup. The garlic knots are to die for. My husband had the mussels appetizer and the lunch size lasagna, which was more than enough to fill us up. We were so happlily surprised at Bocca Bistro. The food was very good and the menu had some interesting items, besides the standard Italian basics. The servings were incredibly generous. I had a dish with chicken and eggplant with pasta. I was expecting the usual big portion of pasta with some chicken, etc on top. But no, I had a huge portion of the chicken -eggplant concoction with pasta on the side. And the sauces were all delicious. Every meal also comes with a generous salad. As locals, we will be going back and looking forward to trying their pizza. And oh, I didn't mention that the prices were very reasonable. Just reading through some of the other reviews and a few mentioned something about difficulty parking. I was also a patron at this establishment last night in the party of the most recent reviewer who mentioned the hour-plus long wait that we experienced. I was not planning on leaving a review as I felt that one review from our experience was enough, however I feel compelled to leave another to greater clarify our experience following the owner's unprofessional dispute of the situation and his resorting to character assassination. Paul, you mentioned that you checked the ticket data at our request for an update and that it was at 28 minutes, however I think you are failing to account for the fact that our ticket was likely not entered immediately following our order, resulting in the wait time. To give you specifics, we were seated at approximately 5:45 pm, we ordered at approximately 6:03 pm, and we left the establishment at approximately 7:30 pm. Between 3 guests, we ordered 1 cocktail, 2 beers, cauliflower fritti, wings, the soup of the day, a sandwich and a chicken entree. We received the fritti, the wings, and the soup within a reasonable amount of time, but we still ended up waiting probably 50 more minutes AFTER these items were brought out for the remaining chicken entree and sandwich -- a total of 90 minutes POST ORDER without seeing either of the two main items that we ordered. We decided our time and money would be better spent elsewhere, so we decided to leave and only wanted to pay for the food that we received -- we never once asked for or expected any food for free. To your staff's credit, the server was incredibly apologetic about our wait time and went to the back to see if we could take the food to go, only to be told no. It is a shame, Paul, that you resort to lying and to personal attacks when met with poor reviews of your establishment. A quick look at your comment history reveals that you reply to every 1-star review with character assassination. Perhaps if you took more pride in the quality of your establishment, incidents like the ones that happened last night would not happen as frequently. I encourage you to closely watch the surveillance footage from our arrival and departure last night and see for yourself. We got there at 5:45 and left at 7:30. Nobody should ever have to wait 90 minutes for an entree. And, finally, in regards to your comment about other patrons, we did hear your guests at the table next to us and your server mocking our order. There's a great sauce ratio and this hand tossed pizza is one of the best i've had but the only problem is this medium sized pizza cost $42.69 because of a $4 topping fee for every topping you add, on top of the pizza that cost $17 alone. Me and my husband was on a nearby cabin retreat. We decided to go wine tasting and have a sit down dinner. Italian was in the top of the menu. We read the reviews to Bocca, in Boone, NC and decided that we had to try it. We were going in being critical because we lived in Italy for a few years. We started out with the Artichoke/Spinach dip and the Bruchetta. Looking around at the other customer plates, I knew we were going to be very satisfied. Our appetizers came out and not only were they beautiful, they were mouth watering delicious! We also order Chicken Madeira and a Stromboli. Everything was tastefully delicious. It was beyond our expectations. As if we didn't have enough food, a huge Caesar salad was accompanied by huuuuge garlic knots. We felt that this was as close to authentic Italian that we've had since leaving Italy. We had a lot of food to go. I forgot to mention, our bill only was only $60 (this included drinks). So we gave our wonderful waitress a $20 tip. We will be back next year. Bocca is highly recommended. read more

My son and I were excited to try this restaurant as we had some recommendations on the food. We got here on a Saturday night and the waiting area was packed. We checked in and were told a 30-40 min wait. After an hour and 20 min wait, many parties ahead of us left in frustration as no one was leaving. We were 2nd on the list and I asked to see the manager as one of the staff indicated that the kitchen wasn't taking orders since they were so backed up, but I heard them taking to-go orders. The manager/owner was very confrontational saying that they contractually had to take those orders and "don't be rude to my staff" (which I was not). We left. Never to return. read more

We put our name on the list at 6:35 (party of 3) and was told 30-35 minute wait. After a little over an hour they finally called our name. Everyone around us had also been waiting way longer than they were told and the hostess was still telling everyone that came in that there was still only a 30-45 minute wait. Once seated, our waitress seemed busy but was friendly and very apologetic. I ordered a glass of wine that I could not drink and sent back because I started to have some sort of reaction to it - just a fluke I guess? While we waited on our food we saw another table get sat, order drinks and then wait so long to place their order that they told the waitress they were leaving. We asked the waitress to please check on our food and go ahead and bring to-go boxes when it came out - we had already been waiting an hour on food. Again she apologized and said they were shorthanded and thanked us for our patience. Our food finally came out at around 8:40/8:45. One of our dishes was lukewarm and the garlic knots felt almost like they came out of the refrigerator! As it was already so late we only took a few bites before we started boxing up our food to take home. The guy that brought the food out came back over and asked how everything was and we told him one dish was cold and knots were cold. He said "got it", he didn't offer an apology, just left and came back promptly with our check - including the wine I sent back and no apology for cold food and extremely long wait. The waitress came over and asked if we needed change and I said yes and told her about the cold food and everything. I thought she was going to talk to her manager about it and saw her take the check over to a lady I thought was the manager. She then got change from the bartender and brought it back to me. The manager never came over so I thought maybe I misunderstood. As we were walking out, we passed the waitress and I said "maybe I misunderstood, I thought your manager was going to come over or you were going to talk to her". She said "you weren't clear on if you wanted to speak to her or not. You seemed like you were just ready to leave". I said "well I thought if you told her the situation SHE would want to come and talk to us!". I left feeling so confused as to what had just happened! I've never eaten in a restaurant and received cold food I waited an extremely long time to get, and the manager NOT at least come over to apologize when they were made aware of the situation! I feel really bad for the waitress as I believe she was doing the best she could throughout dinner but then in the end it all fell apart. Hopefully management made it right with the servers because I feel like they all missed out on a lot of tips tonight due to poor management. The few bites of the warm food we tasted was good but we were very disappointed overall. Hopefully they get their mess together! *update after owner response* 1. More than one person in a party is allowed to leave their review of a restaurant. 2. A busy night is no excuse for poorly managed expectations on wait time. 3. We heard great things about this new restaurant here in Boone. After looking at the Menu online, and reading the 3 other reviews, we couldn't wait to try it. We arrived at 5:10pm. Not a great look outside, but we were there for the food. After a short wait we were seated. It was not too busy, but obvious they were a little short on staff. After waiting a while longer our server(Autumn) came and asked if we had been helped. We ordered drinks, and dinner at the same time, hoping to get things rolling a bit faster. After another longer wait, they brought my wife's wine to the table. To say it was a short pour is an understatement. I usually don't complain about things like this, but $8 for 3 ounces of house wine was a little much. I only said something after noticing other tables with much better pours. Enough said about the wine. After another long wait we asked if we could get our salads before the entries came out. The salads were served which were good. The portions were generous, and fresh. After another longer than usual wait, the entries were served. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my wife had a pizza. The chicken parm was good, not great, but good and made to order. The side pasta was ok. I had the meat sauce which lacked seasoning, but ok. The pizza was very good. The crust was delicious. We are now one hour and 30 plus minutes into dinner. We decided to try the gelato for desert. I hoped it wouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get it served and we could finish. After waiting much longer than anyone should have, I asked our server where our desert was and that 20 minutes was a little to long to expect anyone to wait for ice cream to be served. She made an excuse about being the only server, which wasn't exactly right. ( JB was waiting tables around us and doing it MUCH better) Twenty-two (22) minutes after ordering desert, we got the chocolate chip gelato. It was good, not quite as good as I thought it should be, but good. We never saw our server again. The hostess/manager, finally came over and brought our check. I told her the wait staff was lacking and undertrained. She explained there were two no shows for wait staff. I also watched a "beertender" and the hostess/manager do little to help the wait staff "get out of the weeds". While the food was good (4 stars ****) it is not a great value. Our bill was just short of $90 before a tip. 7:04pm we finally left. I will wait a while to return, to see if the service improves.( 1 star*) I really hope it does. One other thing I look for in service is a good attitude from all the staff. Our server gets 1 star*, the Hostess/manager (2 stars**) for at least trying to explain the poor service and thanking us for coming in. I will sit for 2-2.5 hours for fine dinning, but not for slow service with a poor attitude. read more
