The cheeseburger and fries (with goat cheese) was excellent. Although the patty was frozen and I was hesitant to try it, it was very good. Caitlin and Saylor sold me on it. Went this morning because I saw a video ranking this restaurant as a top breakfast place in the entire state but I was gravely disappointed. While the restaurant had a cute atmosphere it was very hot inside which added to the uncomfortable experience. The food was bland and unseasoned, I ordered the brisket Benedict on a biscuit with gravy and I was not impressed. The brisket was bland and fatty and the gravy was mediocre at best. The biscuit was probably the best part. When it arrived at my table I was excited but after a bite I realized there was nothing special or good about it. Worth the 45 minute wait on game day. This spot is well equipped to handle their hungry App fans' wait times with their efficient electronic wait list. We knew there would be a wait considering it was Family Weekend at App. Noelle was our server and she was super kind and very attentive. I knew we were in the right place when I saw mini packs of apple butter as a regular staple like grape jelly. I always get an omelette and didn't deter from my routine here. I had to have a biscuit to try the apple butter. And why not blow the diet completely away with the hash browns. Everything on my plate was great. The omelette was super fluffy with perfectly seasoned sausage. The hash browns were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. But that biscuit!!! OMG! It was super fluffy and the apple butter put it over the top and reminded me of my childhood home cooked breakfasts at my grandmother's house. I'm so glad our son is just a freshman at App so I have at least another 3.75 years to get breakfast here every time we visit. read more

In retrospect, I should've known better than to order the "Ultimate Benedict" special at Sunrise Grill based on its description: "Two poached eggs over brisket hash and English muffins, topped with a house-made mushroom gravy." Over twenty minutes and a coffee refill later, I'm thinking, "Why is toasting a muffin and assembling a breakfast decidedly not made-to-order taking so long?" My waiter explained that other tables were ahead of me, as if I didn't know how time works, and the chef came out to tell me she's "right on it," instead of just finishing a five-minute-max meal. When it was finally delivered, edge of the plate dripping with packet-brown-gravy and canned mushrooms, I wished I hadn't missed a meal instead. Cubed(!) yet undercooked potatoes with machine-diced onions accompanied what technically counts as brisket, with zero thought towards presentation, together with my $3 brew came to just over $25 with tip. My family and I have been coming up to Boone from Florida since I was a kid. We always would go to Sunrise Grill at least once whenever we visited. This week, we came back to Boone for the first time in about 7 years and visited Sunrise Grill again and it was just as good as I remember. Our waitress was extremely nice and helped us pick a few trails in the area to visit! The food definitely always hits, depending on what you're looking for. Stopped here on our way back home. 45 minute wait. This place was packed and having eaten there, I would have waited over an hour!! 6 of us sat and waited while a older gentleman played music and sang. He was good and the music was the perfect volume so you could hear him but still maintain a conversation. The food came and we were amazed at the presentation alone. Their cook needs a raise! The food was beyond good! We all had more than we should have eaten but we didn't leave ANY on our plates. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. You have a good thing going! I love the menu options! Best pancake I have ever eaten and I'm normally not a pancake person. But wow......that pumpkin one was so moist and delicious. Prices are reasonable, especially when offering half sizes on some dishes. Our waitress was so friendly and sweet. I did notice that the front of the house (hosts) and the chef/cooks maybe a little overwhelmed. But everyone was pleasant. My suggestion: We were seated in the main room as you walk in to the left and I'll say that room is not fully utilized with enough tables and the atmosphere feels a little too open, noisy and empty. You may want to put some booths in and divide the room somehow. Make it feel more cozy feeling. And You need more help on busy days in the kitchen. But we'll definitely be back! We had a new waitress Nicole and she did a good job. The food was very slow, and my hamburger was burnt to a crisp. It looked like the cook put cheese on top and forgot about it for a while. It was 55 minutes after we ordered a burger and French toast before we received our food. First time visiting and might be the last, too slow and poor food quality. read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp while in the area for the Highland Games. We ate breakfast there two days in a row. First day; I had the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was homemade and the eggs nice and fluffy. My husband had the Oatmeal which was Red Mill well known for their quality products. The server was helpful, efficient and very friendly. Second day; we had a different server still with great service and the server from the day before stopped by to chat. Again we had and excellent meal. I would recommend this quaint cafe for breakfast and if we are ever in the Boone area we will return. read more

This was the first time eating here. There was a 30 minute wait but I expected it. The seating area was comfortable and spacious. The service staff were very pleasant and attentive The food was very tasty, the breakfast blend coffee had a heavy bitter taste but not awful. The wait was worth it, arrived early on a Saturday for some great breakfast. We arrived around 0830 and promptly greeted and onto the waitlist, the hostess took my number and was sent a text and a call after 20 minutes. Our waitress Kate was awesome super friendly and had recommendations. There were plenty of options and I chose the Irish Eggs Benedict. Corned Beef Hash with perfectly poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. I would have liked a bit more corned beef as the "key" ingredient it should have been more focal point.. I went in earlier this morning and the place was about half full around 10am (Thursday). A guy named 'Karen' :) started asking for a manager because his family's food was taking too long. They finally got their food as I ordered biscuits and (vegan) gravy and a dark roast coffee. About ten minutes later, the waitress came back and apologized, saying they did not have the gravy. Another table had some type of Benedict, so I ordered that and asked for whatever veggie option they had and hash browns, extra crispy. Another 15 minutes went by and she brought Benedict Florentine and regular hash browns, neither of which were very hot. When she brought the bill it was $28+ I tipped $5 and was getting ready to leave and double check the receipt and they had charged me for both the biscuits and gravy and the eggs bennie. It took another 10 minutes for her to get a manager to remove the biscuit & gravy charge. Quite a long morning just trying to stop in for a quick breakfast. Locals (which I am one) love this place but today was less than stellar so it will be a while before I go back. read more

The 105 special includes two eggs, a breakfast meat option of which I chose the soysage patties and French toast or pancakes. Note that the "full" order came with one piece of French toast. I saw this restaurant on Instagram before my trip and our group passed it on the way to our house. They're on top of it with regards to COVID. You go up to the front and put your name in before heading back to your car to wait. You get a text when a table is ready (note: it's not large inside). You can order coffee while you wait. Their menu offers different sandwiches, pancakes or French toast, no omelettes surprisingly, and several specials of the day. We walked in & there was a 45 minute wait, thats cool. Once we were sat, the front-end staff were more than willing to grab me their gluten-free menu. Our waitress was nice but SUPER slow. You could tell she wasn't too excited to be there, not only from how infrequently she checked in on us but also from the faces she'd be making behind the counter. Just seemed like she was over it. They had a couple of booths open but still a wait out in the main area. Which, honestly I found it odd, they had plenty of waitresses to maintain an extra 3 tables that would clear up the wait. Food here is spectacular, but expect a wait. They do have a really nice coffee bar while you're waiting, though. We had 5 people and waited just shy of an hour to be seated--at a 4-top table! I hate when that happens! Coffee is good. The steak is really tasty. I can't identify the seasoning, but it was super good! Go for the toast made with homemade bread. It was great! At 12:45 I came in to see if they had my phone number right and was told 5 minutes. At 1:15 I asked a couple next to me how long they'd been waiting-- since 11 a.m. they had a text tracking the time that I did not get. At 1:22 p.m. I was seated after inquiring a second time. Holy mole, this is our second time eating brunch here and I'm kicking myself for not coming more often! When they named "the best damn breakfast sandwich" they were not lying. My partner and I are pescatarian and Sunrise Grill offers so many options and the "soysauge" is one of the best plant based sausage options I have ever had. The kitchen really knows what they are doing here. Coffee was good and plentiful; and it was available in dark roast which is an unusual option. Service came with a smile and food came out quickly. Prices seemed very reasonable for what was delivered, a large contrast to that "vicious" location down the street. All in all a darn good first visit.
