    Cappuccinos
    Jeannette A.

Cute place which seems to have a local following as well as tourists. Great selections. The service was slow even though it didn't seem that busy but all staff were nice. I had a breakfast burrito with fruit that was recommended and hubby had stuffed French toast with strawberry cheesecake and bacon. Also Cappuccinos.

I placed an order for pick up & Website said it would be ready @ 10:09 I arrived 5 minutes after this. I was immediately told it would be a longer wait and seemed to upset the staff member when I requested they check and give me an eta since I had left work to pick it up. Employee returned with my order and said they missed it the first time. Despite arriving 5 minutes after my order was meant to be ready, the food was ice cold when I sat down to eat it. It had to have been sitting in the kitchen for at least 10-15minutes prior to !0:09 when it was meant to be ready for pickup. Also I was so shocked at being told my order wasn't ready and I'd just have to wait that I didn't realize until I returned to work that I had not been given the $4 unsweetened tea that I had already paid for and despite multiple calls I couldn't reach anyone to request that it just be refunded to my card. I ended up having to leave work for a second time to go back and retrieve the tea that I had already been charged for. The size of the tea I was charged $4 for was Laughable. It looked like a kids cup, definitely not a $4 drink. I was really excited to try this establishment out but due to this experience I can't say I'll be back and I definitely couldn't recommend

Everything was delicious! I ordered eggs Benedict, my husband ordered the famous hash and we split a side of biscuits and gravy. Friendly staff.

Social on Main is an easy walking distance if you are staying downtown. You may need to hunt for a downtown parking spot if driving, however. There are plenty of parking spots on the nearby side streets, and a large public lot (slightly hidden) off Maple Street. Don't let the lack of onsite parking deter you from a visit! We've tried the Charlie Sellers, Beth Ann Clark (new and amazing!), The Hammy, Butch Triplett, and Carl Freeman. One thing for sure is that SoM knows how to do cheesy scrambled eggs. I constantly lament that other breakfast places don't know how to properly cook scrambled eggs, and allow sufficient time for the cheese to melt. SoM's eggs are always perfect. They also do a proper crispy bacon. Their biscuits are "cat head" style--i.e., as big as a cat's head--and fluffy, and really good with butter. The Beth Ann Clark is their newest addition, with cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon or country ham, french toast, and a cup of fruit. I actually got this twice on our last trip to Blowing Rock--it was that good! But fried egg fans should also be glad that SoM also does perfect eggs over-medium. And their corned beef is perfectly crispy. I don't normally like corned beef, but it goes perfectly with their cheesy scrambled egg when my husband orders the Butch Triplett. Their hash browns are crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. We prefer them a bit crispier throughout, but they were still fine. Their coffee is noteworthy--strong and delicious. Many breakfast places serve weak coffee, but Social's version is perfect. Their servers are all efficient and friendly. One of our servers shared the story of how their plates were all named after Blowing Rock individuals, and that was really cool. One more thing - SoM accepts Apple Pay! This is definitely our go-to for breakfast in Blowing Rock.

Social on Main was the perfect way to start our weekend in the area…read more We drove into the area for breakfast and exploring and upon arrival the spot was packed. After looking at the menu and dining there I can see why. The portions are huge, and the pricing is so great. They also have a full bar including breakfast martinis - which I did not opt for but went with a bloody mary instead. It was huge and delicious. They have a lot of breakfast options, but when I saw corn beef hash I knew I had to try that. They have a bunch of different breakfast options and the one I ordered came with eggs, ham, hash browns and I can't remember what else but it was huge. If breakfast isn't your thing and you want lunch - you can choose from their lunch specials which are a main and three sides for under $14 - wowza that is literally crazy! It is a cozy, charming spot with friendly service and I would definitely recommend if you are in Blowing Rock.

Hard bread smeared with some cream cheese and topped with 2 whole red grapes. Scalloped potatoes cooked to mush, canned yams with some marshmallows melted on top, green bean something from cans, "creamed" spinach that was thawed frozen chopped spinach with breadcrumbs on top-- nothing "creamed" about it. Half the buffet was hours-old leftover breakfast items like rubbery scrambled eggs, dry grits, and -- the worst-- alarmingly undercooked quiche served refrigetator-cold. Thought of the quiche still makes me a little queasy. Dessert station was weirdly dominated by no fewer than five whole buttermilk pies -- the only pie offered. SHAME ON CHETOLA for even offering this, and at upwards of $100 per person. My fault for not checking recent reviews but it is hard to see how anything could go downhill as far as Timblerlake's has. Ugh. Just terrible.

Honestly, the only reason I'm not giving it a single star is because our server was generally somewhat attentive... but other than that? The visit felt disorganized, the food wasn't even remotely special, and the ambiance just missed the mark. When we arrived, I noted with the hostess (1 of 3 - even though the restaurant was probably 3/4 empty) that we had a reservation... and even then, even with soooooooooo many empty tables, it took probably 15 minutes for us to get seated. Is there a staffing issue? Hard to know. There did appear to be multiple servers tending tables though. I honestly have no idea what the issue was. Either way, of all the tables in the place, we got seated next to a larger room that had one of the only groups in the entire restaurant... and they managed to be so unexpectedly loud that it really ruined whatever sense of a charming experience we may have been able to have. We each ordered various items from the menu... but the "beast burger" that I ordered as part of my meal was really underwhelming. Also, proportions of the ingredients just seemed WAY off. It was called a "beast" burger because of the mixture of elk, beef, bison, and wild boar included... instead, it seemed like a beast because the slice of tomato on it was cut so thick that I felt like I was going to have to unhinge my jaw like a snake or something just so that I could take a bite. Why do restaurants make such TALL burgers? They feel impossible to eat... I don't get it. For my side on that dish, I had ordered the truffle mushroom risotto... and honestly? I didn't even get a slight hint of truffle... and it's hard to miss truffle when it's there! The risotto itself was also extremely gummy... almost like the consistency of paste. Just... no. TL;DR Just really disappointed in the overall experience here. Everything from being seated to quality of the food to ambiance? It all missed the mark. I wouldn't be able to recommend this place to anyone... there have got to be better options in and around Blowing Rock.

We weren't expecting such a high level experience when we first booked a stay at this newly finished hotel. Classy cocktails, beers, plenty of wine variety, you name it. Went with the Old Smokey as a starter. An old fashioned kicked up a notch. The house smoked maple syrup and charred orange peal knocked his cocktail out of the park. I could smell that smoky flavor from the other end of the bar as it was being made. Bartender was super friendly and had some great mixology skills. We opted for apps all evening, but can't wait to come back and try some more of the menu. The homemade bread is a must. These puppies come out hot and steaming, with this amazing bacon butter to lather them in...outstanding! Our server also recommended the mushroom pate. Mushroom pate you say?! Yes, yes I do. One of the best pate's we've had in a long time. Super flavorful, creamy and smooth. And the homemade chips sticking out of it were the bomb! Then the goat cheese fritters...I had to battle my wife for these flavor bombs. This place is outstanding and not many people know about it...yet. The downtown area sits about a mile from the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway (connects the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia). Camp Coffee Roasters has a cozy vibe and an obvious appreciation for the outdoors. It might have something to do with their neighbors; Footloggers, an outdoor store. Be sure to climb the stairs near the front door of the coffee shop. They lead to a loft, overlooking Footloggers, where you can relax in a wing back chair or get some work done at a table near a window. The barista was friendly and made a respectable cortado. This time, however, my mom and I were extremely disappointed. We were served by a young man who seemed to be the owner's son, while the owner and another young man stood behind the counter. He forgot to ask what sizes we wanted, and when I got my Campfire Cold Brew, it came without cream. The menu clearly said: Cold brew, marshmallow, Hershey chocolate, and cream. I thought maybe it wasn't my drink, but the young man confirmed it was. When I asked if it was supposed to have cream, he said no, but that he could add some. I double-checked the menu: "It says it comes with cream." That's when an older woman suddenly appeared, glaring. "There's cream right there," she snapped. I'm guessing she was his mom, given her signature mama bear energy. Sorry, lady! I was just trying to make sure I got what I paid for, especially since two small coffees cost $16.
