When passing through Boone on our anniversary, we made a last-minute decision to try out Mint. Let me preface this review by saying that my wife and I seek out all types of Indian food wherever we range in our travels. Street style is as welcome as white tablecloth, just really love examples of both Southern and Northern Indian cuisine. We kind of blew it out since this was a special occasion, with a couple of appetizers a couple of entrees, a bottle of wine and dessert (which was gifted to us by the proprietor) Service was exemplary, ambiance was chic and modern, food was so good I made the rare mistake of eating a bit too much, and a good time was had by all! Whatever aspect of the food business you happen to be in, please visit Mint as you pass through Boone, and take lots of notes. This family is doing so many things right that it's a little hard to separate out each redeeming quality. The net effect, however, is a dining experience that is not only worth every penny, but joyously memorable.

I went on a weekday and it was not busy, there were no lines as well. I was craving indian food but didnt have time to dine in. The restaurant is very clean and service was very quick. I ordered the samsosa chat and a noodle dish to go. The food was okay. There were not a distint taste to it that makes the place different then others. I would go back and try there other foods. Also they have a lunch buffet for $9.99.

We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. Service is impeccable, food it always hot and delicious and the atmosphere is pleasant. You can really tell that the staff is invested in making your experience a positive one. Try it, you'll love it!

Excellent food. We had the chicken and shrimp tandoori, indian tea, paneer tikka and chicken krahki, garlic naan bread, all very well presented, tasted wonderful. Had enough to take home! Fast and friendly service, great atmosphere.

Really good Indian food in not the most likely of places. Service was friendly and attentive. Outdoor seating available so that you can enjoy the fresh mountain air if you are so inclined. Spice level was on point. Definitely will revisit again.

This place was was incredible! I had it delivered one night for dinner. The flavors were so unique. I have never had Gobi Manchuri this good. The fried exterior and slightly sweet sauce reminded me of sesame chicken. The yellow lentil soup was hearty and unique. I never think to get soup when I do Indian food, but I trusted the Yelp reviews and the Mulligatwany soup did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was the weakest of the items I got, but it was nice to have something light and crunchy to balance the other textures and flavors of the meal. And at $5 for a sizable portion, I would get it again. The garlic naan bread was also very good. Nice and fluffy, slightly chewy, and just enough garlic. I personally thought the $4 price tag was high for the small portion. If the takeout amount is the same as they give at the restaurant, I would not recommend one serving per person.

As for food, I cannot recommend the matchstick okra fries enough. Even if you don't like okra, please give them a try. As someone who doesn't like okra normally, we were convinced by our waiter to give them a try and I am so glad that we did. So crispy and salty, just a wonderful way to start the evening. Highly recommend the chaat as well, full of flavor and a refreshing start before the main dishes arrived. They all sounded good, so really a personal preference on which to go with. For the main dish we opted for both Thali's, butter chicken and the saag paneer. Both were delicious and full of flavor, again I don't think you could wrong since you get a little of everything on your platter. Our service was phenomenal as well! Our waiter walked us through the menu, gave us recommendations, and was very attentive. Food came out super quick as well so all around 10/10. I will now be waiting ever so impatiently for our next visit to Asheville so that we can give more of the menu a try!!

The inside had enough seating for people and service was good. Although I think our server could have paid a bit more attention to us in terms of refilling our water. But it is a fairly chill atmosphere inside. We got the Gobi 65, Chicken 65 Boneless Biryani, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Mango Lassi. The Gobi 65 at mild spice still had a slight kick to it, but it was very flavorful! I really enjoyed it. The Chicken Tikka Masala tasted very buttery and not as spicy as I wanted it to be (asked for medium spice), so it makes me wonder if they accidentally gave me the wrong dish... like Butter Chicken? Otherwise, it was alright. Lots of bell peppers inside the dish and the chicken was cut into small pieces. The Garlic Naan was super garlicky which I loved and tasted great being dipped in the Chicken Tikka Masala. For the Mango Lassi, it came pre-packaged in this small bottle. It tasted fine, but not as sweet as I wanted it to be. My friend liked the Chicken 65 Boneless Biryani, which came in a massive bowl. Overall, I enjoyed the food here. Although I kind of want to get the Chicken Tikka Masala again and see if it tastes less buttery and more spicy next time. I would come back to try the other items on the menu!

(Shahi Daawat means Royal Feast or Royal Banquet historically signifying grand meals from princely kitchens with rich dishes, luxurious presentation and cultural elements and often themed around specific Indian states of festivals and tracing back to royal recipes. Kerala is a coastal state on the south of India having a coastline of about 400 miles along the Arabian Sea. The food there being popular for their fresh ingredients, rich spices, coconut and seafood.) First of all we were both greeted with a beautiful and fragrant Jasmine garland by the owner and staff outfitted in typical dress and we were seated on a table with banana leaves as our plates for the first portion of the feast (yes; it was a feast!!!). The appetizers started arriving promptly with a variety of proteins starting with chicken deliciously seasoned and delightfully crunchy. The chicken was followed by Medu Vada with Coconut Chutney and Pan Roasted Prawns, Vada with Chutney and a delicious Mushroom Pepper Fry. Then the entrees began: Idli and Sambhar, Lamb Chettinad, Kadala (chickpea) Curry, Egg Roast, Pepper Chicken, Cabagge Thoran and Kerala Fish Curry. This was accompanied by Malabar Paratha and Lemon Rice. Although the portions of the individual items seemed small, cumulatively became overwhelming, but I would not change it at all. It seemed as if we were welcomed into someone's home and they were gladly sharing all of the dishes of their region. It was a magnificent and comprehensive compilation of dishes from Kerala and I am glad it was so!!! The desserts were three; Kozhikode Halwa (different than Halwa from Northern India; Kozhidode Halwa this delicacy melts in your mouth and it is popular not only in Kerala but in Arabia, Persia, and London. Food historian have traced its origins back to centuries ago), Coconut Burfi (a traditional treat made with coconuts milk and cardamom) and Coconut Kulfi (a delicious frozen coconut milk delight). During the meal the chef, (himself native of Goa, southern India), servers and the owner visited the tables to answer any questions. As if we were transported to a Restaurant in Kerala; It was a delightful, authentic and memorable experience, one that will not be forgotten! We will return to their next experience. Thank you Mehfil, as your full restaurant name suggests/meaning (Mehfil; Yaaron Ki... apno ki=A gathering of friends and loved ones) We definitely felt the love.

My husband's chicken biryani was more like a curry rice, and the flavors were all wrong. My son's chicken tikka was fine, but that could be because it was ordered as "mild". Overall, I wouldn't recommend. For the high rating and the high price point I expected something more authentic.
