I am completely shocked this place has such good reviews. I'm a bit worried not a single one of these folks have tastebuds. This is some of the worst Asian fusion we have ever had. The waitstaff was very kind- that's the only highlight. The shrimp were rubber- and they put everything on skewars which is weird. It's like the shrimp fully evaded any salt and pepper. Got the pad see ew which was super mushy. Their mango salmon and shrimp was insanely overcooked. But the sauce it was in was flavorless and oily. My husband eats everything and would not finish it because it was so bad. Their purple rice was the mushiest thing ever. I have never seen an Asian restaurant that can't make rice. Like that's the bare minimum -Asian folks are rolling in their graves over how bad that is. They have zero kid options- so one kid got the crispy chicken fried rice which was also so bland and mushy but had pockets of strong ginger and soy taste but not well distributed- the chef has zero knife skills- half of the scallions were huge and half were cut right. The chicken was also cut weird. Like half in super thin strips and half in giant chunks. Son's chicken pho was 100% star anise. It was the only flavor in there. The chicken was all fatty and flubby. The decor was even more strange. They were simultaneously decorated for valentines, Christmas, Thanksgiving and had weird Asian "pillows" Wrapped in plastic. I literally would eat anywhere else before ever coming back here The waitress was nice enough to take the pad see ew and rubber shrimp off our bill- but I'd pay to never ever eat that food again as long as I live. Please do not be fooled by the reviews which feel like they are written by bots. This was SO bad. Abort mission- eat anywhere else. read more

The service here was awesome--I really appreciated how all the servers work together as a team. It makes the whole experience so efficient and smooth. The ambiance is nice and relaxed, just a simple, classic Asian restaurant style without being over the top. As for the food, everything hit the mark. The Beef Pad Thai was delicious and actually had the perfect amount of beef (which is rare to find). The Pho was perfectly spicy right out of the bowl, and the House Fried Rice was hands down the best I've had. The absolute star of the show, though, was the Fried Ice Cream. It's such a simple dessert, but they make it too good. Highly recommend saving room for it! read more

This is the new 'sister' restaurant of Sabeing, which has been downtown Boone for several years. It is a different menu and even though I like it, I prefer Sabeing. But Eem is a Three Wood drive from my house so it is a good option when I want some fresh rolls a noodle dish with tofu. read more

I want to give 2 stars, but don't want to hurt the business, which has awesome servers and what looked like a lovely atmosphere. I was just sorely disappointed with the food. I came to Boone on business and was starving for a good dinner, and Eem just didn't hit the spot. Fresh rolls--2/5, large but mostly packed with dry cabbage. No flavor. The sauce was not good, tasted like oyster sauce with peanuts in it. Drunken noodle--2/5, maybe even lower. No flavor, no spice, overcooked noodles and broccoli. The tofu tasted sour. Also want to note that I don't mind too much, but as a vegetarian, it always sucks a little to find a piece of meat in your meal. read more

FIVE QUESTIONABLE STARS!?!? The service at this place will make you ask yourself if you just stepped into the twilight zone BUT it was the best duck of my life!! Don't get me wrong, the service was not bad just frankly absolutely bizarre. I also highly recommend the vegetable dumplings & house fried rice. Our server was just giving all the energy of a newborn mongoose that was body swapped (freaky Friday style) into a "server" that has never heard of Coca-Cola. Best Asian food in Boone from what I can find. I stay in Boone for a week every summer and have tried and tried. Eem Boone was new this summer and they helped me get through the week. Wow oh wow!!! I had been craving fresh rolls for a while and had a feeling Eem could satisfy such a craving. Boy was I right!! They were so fresh and the peanut hoisin sauce was on par!! I also had the vegetable house friend rice and the rice was perfectly caramelized with the soy sauce. Incredibly surprised and impressed with this restaurant! We were vacationing for the weekend and looking for takeout that wasn't too long of a drive. This was one of few places where we could order online - much appreciated - and had good reviews, so we gave it a shot. It is in an unassuming strip mall but convenient because we needed some things from the grocery and pet store while we were out. We ordered what we thought were safe bets - fresh roll, shumai, chive pancake, and pad thai. Looked pretty standard as we were opening the containers, but as soon as we took a bite we both noticed the quality. The fresh roll really was loaded with fresh vegetables with a yummy peanut sauce, the shrimp shumai was good as expected, can't really describe the chive pancake (not what I expected from other scallions pancakes) but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The winner was the pad Thai - we got regular with tofu and spicy with chicken. We were initially disappointed that we didn't have sriracha to go with it but quickly discovered that we didn't need it. It was SO flavorful, using sriracha would have masked it, and I'm so glad we got to experience the quality. It had the right balance of noodles/veggies/protein - lots of egg, thank you! Most impressive was how it actually seemed freshly prepared - not overly sticky or clumping together and not at all greasy which was a huge differentiator. We've had plenty of pad Thai from plenty of restaurants over the years (they are all generally the same and some are just gross) but we couldn't stop commenting on how this is easily the best flavor and quality we have ever had from a comparable restaurant. We ate every bite (never happens since you can only eat so much of the same one-note dish!) and didn't feel at all heavy or bloated from it. Thank you for a great meal! Some of the food was tasty, but the dumplings and shrimp appetizers were cold, the beef stew was cold and not good. Additionally we found the service bizarre and lacking. Three different people asked if they could take our order, we had to ask/remind them to bring the tea we requested, and one of the dishes came out a full five minutes after the other meals. We planned to drive an hour to Boone and decided after looking at restaurants there to try this place. We have eaten at MANY asian restaurants over the years (we are 60-somethings). This place is a dream come true. We will make the drive many times in the future. The Tomyum and Tomkha soups were amazing to start. The curry and fish was fabulous. IDK what to say, but I have not been so happy with a restaurant since we ate at a REAL Korean place in Fayetteville in 1988! That's a long wait!!! read more
