I could also hear her conversations with other patrons and it became clear she is a staple for the business which gets a lot of regulars who I can tell really value her as well. The food was outstanding. I looked at their menu before I went and the pictures live up to the actual meal. I have 5 appointments this month that put me within a 10 minute walk to this restaurant. We came here before going to a concert in the area. We arrived just before 5. There is a parking lot so that was helpful. It started getting busier the longer we were there. The service was very friendly, and we didn't lack for refills or being checked on. I got the cherry blossom roll, and my husband had the Alaska Roll. He was very pleased, because it wasn't loaded with a ton of rice. My roll was really good as well. He also ordered the sashimi salad and loved it. First time here and I got here at 8 and it was not busy at all. They do have their own parking lot so parking is not an issue. The service is nice. They are nice and attend to you. The food was decent. Usually when I get salmon carpaccio, the pieces are smaller but these pieces were big. Which big isn't bad but does that mean it's quality fish. Still delicious as far as I can remember. The beef black bean sauce dish was okay. It was good but not good good. Good portion. The ambiance is a small vibe. Like it's not fancy, more of a take out spot. It's pretty small inside. It is on a road that is very busy so turning into their spot might be a while. The Aesthetic: Family-friendly sushi restaurant with lots of booths, no-frills, plain atmosphere. The Price: Slightly cheaper than some of my regular sushi spots in CLT, which was nice. I did not enjoy the Salmon Dream Roll, the description didn't specify it would be doused in spicy mayo and it was way too mayo-tasting, I could barely taste the roll. The cost of the sushi was fair, being less expensive than other restaurants. Ginbu 401 has both a full sushi and Chinese menu to suit anyone's taste buds. This came in handy as we rarely can agree on a restaurant... We decided to get sushi this time and were definitely not disappointed! In terms of price, most of their rolls come in under $8 but can go up to $11/roll which isn't bad at all compared to some other sushi places. I say Ginbu 401 is a quality sushi restaurant! We ordered sushi, beer, sashimi, dandan noodles, and tuna tataki. Service was excellent and the spicy tuna roll was quite good. Sashimi was serviceable and the eel in particular was quite nice as a change of pace from the usual options I see for sashimi platters. Unfortunately both the tataki and Dan Dan noodles were quite bad. The tataki was extremely thin, which resulted in the uncooked centers being very dry. I don't know if this is an effort to skimp on the amount of tuna used but it ruined the dish. The noodles as a whole were likely the worst part - it was closer to a chow mein or lo mein and frankly still managed to be incredibly tasteless with zero heat. Considering dan dan noodles are typically a numbing Szechuan dish this did not seem to resemble it in any way, and the only flavor that came through were the bell peppers (which don't belong in the dish in the first place). Stay away from this iteration until they rework it. Overall I would come back for the sushi rolls and nothing else. read more

First of all, be warned that if you are a larger group arriving in multiple cars, their parking lot is very small. You may wish to ride together. The restaurant is darkly lit and all the staff were very pleasant and seemed to appreciate the patronage. We found that we had made an excellent choice when the beautiful, tastey dishes came out. 2 of us got sushi rolls and they were presented on a weaved basket like tray with a glow ball covered in carrot strips ! How fun is that ?!?! The darkness of the restaurant created such a cool atmosphere seeing these plates on the table. I got the seafood hot and sour soup to be different, but it was just ok. I also got the shrimp curry Singapore noodles and they were EXCELLENT. There were layers of flavor... the yummy shrimp, the red pepper, the curry noodles.... were all combined perfectly.
