Was close to this restaurant and tried the pad see ew though it tasted pretty good the dish lacked seasoning. The spice level was good! Service was fast and the location was pretty small I saw a lot of door dash I would return to try other dishes

Coming back here after a one year hiatus was like a breath of Thai air that I needed desperately and didn't even realize it until I walked through those doors! The wait staff were as quick as you could dream for in taking our orders, and returned with our food just as quickly! The lunch portions were quite large and we were very happy with the fact we could bring home a little bit of Thai happiness for a second meal later! We enjoyed Pad See Ew, Garlic Chicken, and Chicken Fried Rice. Each meal was exceptionally good and very flavorful! One of my sons ordered a huge glass of strawberry boba, and said it was "the best", so I guess I will trust his judgment on that! The eatery itself is very relaxing, inviting, serene, and just felt an overall feeling of being very welcomed here! The fish tank was a nice touch for sheer eye candy alone. Although this place appears to be a whole in the wall, it stays quite busy and is much larger inside than you might expect! Don't be deceived by outward appearances this is a gem on a main road and you would be a fool not to stop and enjoy all it has to offer!

Let this be a push for you to try Aroy Thai! I've always, always loved the food here. I believe there was a change of owner/management but the food has stayed at the same fantastic level. This was my first time dining in. The mix match tables and chairs adds a no-frills touch but the space is cute. The host at the front also took our order and had nice small talk and was very kind. We got goyza (not like any goyza I've had. This was very crispy fried but the flavor was really nice and I didn't mind the crunch), edamame, summer rolls with shrimp (very large size rolls with great fresh taste with crisp vegetables inside) and I could eat the plum sauce that they are served with on EVERYTHING! Entrees were 2 pad kee mau with chicken and extra vegetables and the other with chicken and shrimp, both level 3 - not a big lingering spice but the heat is there. This is the type of place where I always have intentions of trying something new but because this order is so good, it has me in a tight hold.

This is my first time trying thai tea and chicken panang curry and it was so good! Great spices and good comfort food

This was the saltiest pad see ew (both plates in the picture) of my life. I've never been so dehydrated from a dish. Very disappointing. You can also see that it's inconsistent between the two dishes, one is darker than the other. We've had 5 people tried the dish and they all complained it was salty. The only good and well balanced, edible dish was the pad Thai. Love that they put aluminum foil under the food so it wouldn't leak through the boxes. Another point I wanted to bring up is that they were fast with the take out order. On time and we didn't have to wait long.

Since COVID-19 started I have continued to support local and order delivery or pickup. When I need my Thai fix Aroy has been my go to spot. They currently offer delivery, as for dine in not sure, but everything arrives piping hot and just as fresh as I remember when I dined in. Stand outs for my are always the Crab Rangoon, and I love their Thai Fried Rice. Unlike Chinese fried rice it includes stewed tomatoes, cucumbers and lime. If you're into Fried Rice, or looking for a good Thai delivery during these times, Aroy is worth a try!

After a fellow yelper posted photos, I knew I had to come. So after a trip to the Asian supermarket I stopped here for lunch. I walked in and unfamiliar with the set up I placed my order at the counter but I could have placed my order after sitting at a table. It's cute inside with a minimal amount of tables, definitely looks like most of their business is to go and carry out orders. I couldn't decide what I wanted so went with my standard faves and how I determine if a Thai restaurant is worth coming back to. I ordered sum tom, larb and pad see ewe. I ordered everything Thai spicy except the noodles and it definitely did not disappoint on heat. The flavor on the sum tom (green papaya salad) was delicious and on point. The larb salad was warm and full of flavor. I only wished the larb salad came with lots of lettuce or cabbage to enjoy it with. The service was exceptional and anything I asked for or needed, I had.

I go there to eat green curry because it used to be authentic and it reminded me of my grandmas green curry. However im disappointed because its not used to be like a year ago. There is no thai basil and no toasted dehydrated thai chili anymore

It doesn't look like much on the outside and it is fairly easily to miss when driving down Independence but do not sleep on Aroy Thai. My friends and I shared several of their appetizers and entrees together, family style. Everything was excellent. And if you like things to be spicy when you order spicy, they'll do you right here.

This is a hidden gem I found on the Yelp Charlotte top 100 list. It's hidden in a strip mall off of Independence Blvd. Don't judge it from the outside. They seem to mostly do take out now. There was only one other table there when we were. The service was very friendly. We started with a Thai Tea which was amazing. I recommend saving it to drink with the spicy food. We were with a group and decided to do a big family style meal. For appetizers, we started with the spring rolls, the Papaya Salad, and the Larb Kai. We ordered both the Papaya Salad and the Larb Kai hot and they were both incredibly spicy and delicious. For entrees, we got the Pad See Ew (beef), Drunken Noodles (chicken), Green Curry (chicken), and Pineapple Fried Rice (combo). Everything was amazing. The Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodles were my favorite and the Green Curry was very good as well. We ordered everything hot, but the entrees weren't nearly as spicy as the appetizers. It's all reasonably priced. We paid $20/person and it was way too much food. We all left stuffed. I think this was the best Thai food I've had in Charlotte. It's definitely a must try!

This place absolutely hits the mark. The food is beautifully presented, the portions are generous, and the flavors are bold and balanced. I also regularly order the red curry and green curry, both of which are rich, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. The pork dishes are especially succulent, and the tom kha coconut soup is another standout. I've eaten both inside the restaurant and ordered takeout many times, and the experience has been consistently great. There are some amazing Thai restaurants in NYC so that sets the bar pretty high. I ordered the Pad See Ew with shrimp which is definitely one of my "go-to" Thai entree selections. A couple of things I noticed. First of all they used regular broccoli in their version. I have never once seen regular broccoli and not Chinese Broccoli in this dish. That was disappointing. Then the shrimp had the talk on it. I've never had a Thai restaurant leave the tail on in a noodle dish. I found it to be annoying to have to wrestle with it. Unnecessary fir a noodle dish. Finally the sauce wasn't as sweet as o was used to. The recipe is usually made with a SWEET soy sauce. This was clearly regular soy sauce and quite honestly it tasted good first bit but there was a weird aftertaste that I can't describe which made me want to stop eating it even though the first bite was ok. Not sure what that aftertaste was but I'm not a fan and will probably never go back to try something else there. I'm gonna go gargle with Listerine now. The restaurant is cute, clean and in a great location but not authentic Thai in my eyes.

Naturally, I headed straight to Thai Thai Takeout, which has always been one of my comfort-food staples in Charlotte. Well, surprise -- the restaurant recently changed ownership and rolled out an entirely new menu. I was trying to order from my old takeout menu over the phone and quickly realized I was completely out of sync. Thankfully, the woman helping me was incredibly patient and kind while I figured it out. I ended up ordering the Pra Rahm Long Song with tofu, and honestly, it was delicious. It came loaded with steamed spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, napa cabbage, and cabbage covered in a rich peanut sauce that was comforting without feeling too heavy. The tofu soaked up all that flavor beautifully. I also ordered a pineapple red curry with pork at spice level 3. The curry itself was fantastic -- creamy, rich, loaded with pineapple, and really flavorful. I will say the spice level was pretty mild for a "3," so I added my own chilies at home to kick it up a notch. My only critique was the pork, which was a little dry and tough for my liking. I'm pretty particular about proteins and don't really do white meat chicken either, so next time I may try tofu or another option instead. The good news? The portions are generous, everything was packed nicely, and my order was hot and ready exactly when promised -- about 10 to 12 minutes after I called. Parking is easy right in front, and since it's takeout-only, it makes for a super quick and convenient dinner stop. Even though some longtime favorites like the satay seem to be gone, the new menu looks extensive and exciting enough that I'll absolutely be back to eat my way through it. Charlotte, there's a big wide world out there, and this is definitely a place worth adding to your regular rotation.
