They do only have a limited lunch menu that changes daily, but honestly that works out better for me because I am the person who finds it hard to make a decision when there are 14 different entrees to pick from. Each lunch comes with an iced tea, soup, spring roll, and the entree. I chose to purchase a Thai tea separate instead since I love them and it was one of the best Thai teas that I've had in a while! I don't really know what was in the soup but it was very good. My entree had just the right amount of spice in it. Met a good friend for lunch recently and had I not been familiar with their Pineville location, I would not have thought they were related. Then I researched some more and discovered they are not related at all! From a lifeless reception and limited lunch choices, to the taste of the food that was not authentic Thai food (which I prepare weekly at home), I give this business a hard pass. Nice. Ambiance! I would say anyone who has no idea what to choose in afternoon while ordering as they ask lunch set or dinner set then go for Dinner set if you're in a group. It was 7:30 pm so we were happy they had not closed yet as they are open until 9 pm on weekends. It's clean and a good size place. Very cozy although our table top itself was chipped. They were great at seating us but very pushy on us ordering quickly. Since it was our first time we didn't know the menu so we needed more time. I ordered the Peanut, Coconut & Chicken Entree. It was very good and nice size portion. My wife ordered Vegetables & Beef Entree and the Vegetable Rice Rollup. She loved it as both dishes came out hot which is the best. Her's was a little skimpy compared to mine but equally priced. This restaurant has a 4.4 Star Rating and I would give the place a 4.5 except when they took our order they were just too pushy and I don't like that feeling when I'm away from home. This was my second visit to this restaurant. I chose it because of its convenient location near the library, and I originally thought it would become a regular spot for me. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my mind. After finishing my meal and paying, I stayed for about 30 minutes to work on my laptop since it was raining outside. During that time, a waitress approached me and asked me to give up my seat. Unsure of what she meant, I asked another staff member for clarification. That person told me I "might need to give up my seat," but then immediately backtracked and said, "You can sit here for a little while." This left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. What made the situation more frustrating was that there were still multiple empty tables nearby, and an entire section of the restaurant was closed off. I have never experienced a restaurant asking a paying customer to leave so soon after finishing a meal. It gave me the impression that, because I was dining alone, my presence was considered less valuable. I went in for the lunch special and I don't know if the price seemed like a lunch special. I ordered the pad thai and it really had a strong vinegar taste to it. I love pad thai and have loved it for years. I felt I couldn't finish my meal and when I pointed out the strong taste the waitress said it has a vinegar base. We stopped into Thai Taste in Matthews for lunch as we were exploring the Matthews area. We were greeted and seated quickly. The staff were super friendly and quick to get us drinks and take our orders. We were very surpised at how fast the food was served! It was all super fresh, hot and tasty. My wife isn't into spicy food so went for the pad thai which she says is some of the best she's ever had. I wanted something more spicy and went with the Pad Gra Tiam which was excellent! Ordered beef drunken noodles 2/5 spice and it was spicier than my wife's 4/5. Ruined my meal. It was insanely intolerable. On top of the fact that they put carrot slices in it lol. That is not Thai nor was in the description. Also puts egg in drunken noodles, also wrong. I don't mind carrots but just blatantly wrong. Ordered the shrimp appetizer which is supposed to come with a sweet and spicy sauce and it was this just sweet like mango. Also said topped with peanuts and had none. Didn't give plasticware in the to go bag. Had to walk across the street to the hotel for plasticware. And on top of it all described the drunken noodles as wide rice noodles and they weren't even close to wide. Noodles for drunken noodles are supposed to be wider and thicker than normal, as least an inch wide and have that chewy texture. One of the worst Thai orders ever. We finally got take out from Thai Taste in Matthews! My husband and I always visited the Dilworth location so it's awesome to have the chain nearby! I called in our order of summer rolls, pad tai, and tom kha soup. Twenty minutes later I picked it up. Everything was ready and the restaurant was following covid protocols. Having your heart set on some delicious Thai noodle dishes and getting what we received is so detrimental to my tastebuds. I don't know how to explain the mound of overcooked noodles with absolutely no sauce or seasonings . Just a huge lump of pad Thai noodles for you to waste calories on. I think we found our go to Thai restaurant! We are fairly new to Matthews and wanted to check out downtown Matthews for lunch. So glad we did. They are doing a great job of social distancing for starters. The server is very friendly and on point. My folks missed enjoying Thai food from our favorite place in San Diego and I suggested we research top-rated local places by them to try. The other Thai Taste location was mentioned in a Charlotte magazine as a favorite of a Carolina Panthers' linebacker and we decided to try the one closer to my folks. It is located next to Royal Cafe and Creperie. We called in for takeout and it was ready in 15-20 minutes. Parking could be a challenge due to the number of businesses in the area, but we got lucky to find a spot before the dinner crush. When we placed the order over the phone, the gal was very helpful and friendly. She let us know that the egg rolls came 4 per order and double checked that we wanted 2 orders, which would mean 8 rolls. (We did want both orders, as all 3 of us were going to share them.) The Panang curry can be seasoned with regular spice or you may request extra spice from 1-5, 5 being the hottest. At the restaurant, a different woman handed us our food and thanked us for supporting them in these times. The food was still pretty hot when we got home and did not get soggy, which was great. I ordered a spice level of 3 on my panang curry and it was perfect. Egg rolls were crunchy and were packed with the veggies - no shortage there. I'd order from them again. The pad Thai and the beef salad tasted and looked like they were made yesterday, packed away, and then thrown into our take out bag. The flavor on the pad Thai is all wrong. Beef salad is cold. I wouldn't normally write a review because I believe restaurants can have bad nights, however after learning this meal cost us $40 - I felt I had no choice. They gave us a high chair covered in old food and dirt we asked for it to be cleaned and they used a dirty rag and it was still nasty ! The first thing I noticed upon entering was how lit the dining areas are from natural light. A great place to eat if you are suffering from s.a.d. I love lettuce wrap apps. so I decided to give theirs a try. The chicken was a bit on the dry side and too small a portion to share. The dipping sauce was unique and sweet. For my entree, I went for the Pad See Ewe. A wide, sweet and spicy beef dish with spinach and carrots. I asked for a 4 out of 5 spiciness and I ended up having to add crushed red pepper flakes to feel any heat at all. It started with a craving for summer rolls; I needed something fresh and light and dare I say it, not fried. With limited options in Matthews I went with a local standby. Now I have been here on many occasions, but provably not within the last year. I was kind of shocked to see its looking pretty run down inside. Its sort of a complicated menu and sometimes its hard to know what to expect in the dish. I felt a little rushed and ended up ordering red curry which I've had other places. I would have liked to get a to go menu but they didn't have any. That pretty much ensures I won't order take out again. So, on to the food.... my summer rolls were completely vegetarian. And I suppose thats my fault bc I didn't fully read the description, I just assumed I knew what I was getting. I've never had summer rolls that didn't at least have pork in them. So they were rolled up shredded lettuce and basil leaves. Blah. My red curry was just OK. It left me wishing I had just gone to New Zealand for my regular tuna poke. I don't know, I might not bother going back. I like CO and Ray Lai way better. And while they're out of the way it might be worth it next time to make the drive. read more

We periodically visit this restaurant to dine in sometimes ordering take out. The food while dining in is consistent. When ordering takeout we seem to have challenges getting through via telephone most likely because they are a popular take out option in Matthews. The last take out order I placed for Pad Tai was disappointing with a few ingredients seeming to be missing I.e. egg, sprouts, carrots.
