Just a walk in but wow $4.00 for a Diet Coke, sitting on the patio getting second hand smoke, not even appetizing. I paid with a $5 and waitress said, "I'll go get yer dollar" Looks like an otherwise nice restaurant for sandwiches if you can get over the $4.00 small plastic cup of soda. No issues here with quality of food, just the beverage!

Stopped in for a meal as a pre-celebration for my daughter's upcoming 10th birthday! Most of the places we usually go to were completely packed with wait times over 45min. We did a quick Yelp search and stumbled upon Basil's. We called ahead because online it was suggested to make reservations - I called and they said they were accepting walk ins and they weren't too busy. Upon arrival a few minutes later, we were seated promptly and our drink orders placed. It was a peaceful and quiet venue. I'm not sure what it's like when busier but there were quite a few tables seated but it wasn't too loud and the music was pleasant and relaxing. We took some time to review the menu and settled on frittes, calamari and Brussels sprouts for appetizers. Unfortunately, they were out of calamari. I mistakenly read the frittes as being a mix of potato, sweet potato and eggplant. The server clarified that it's one choice but they could make it with a mix of them all upon request. Because I had the kids with me, we just went with potato. The garlic aioli dip and the parmesan garnish on the fries was absolutely delicious! Have to say I wasn't a huge fan of the Brussels - I didn't find them to be crispy enough and that could've been due to the excess amount of the maple Dijon glaze (pictured). The glaze was delicious but overpowering for the dish. My kids ordered the kids burger and chips and the buttered noodles. They all enjoyed it and the price was reasonable at around $8 per kids meal. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the strawberry and arugula salad. Loved the salad and enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs as well. I would say that the fennel was a little strong in the meatballs but aside from that I loved the dish and couldn't finish it due to the large portion. It was $21 but a sizable amount given it was lunch. We also ordered the pesto chicken melt (forgot to take a pic) but it was probably our favorite item out of everything we tried. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly! The food was very tasty and came out relatively quick. Overall, we're happy to have had the opportunity to try out a new place that we can add to our rotation when we visiting Boone.

We ordered the roast beef on a hoagie roll that was supposed to have a horseradish sauce. There was no indication of it, which was disappointing. But even more so was the "au jus", it was more like canned beef consommé! I asked for ketchup instead. This was a really roast beef sub, but to advertise it as a roast beef with horseradish and au jus isn't accurate. Our server was efficient and friendly. Our eggplant fries were limp and greasy. Either the fryer wasn't hot enough, or the eggplant fires were frozen and too wet to crisp. Either way, I wouldn't serve those in good conscience. I love the vibe here, but today's food was seriously lacking.

I want to love Basil's. I've been here 5-6 times and it is never consistent. I enjoy the full walls of windows, Blue Ridge Mountains photos, and open concept, but service is not as attentive as could be. My experience today was perhaps the worst. Our food came out quickly, but the Brussels sprouts could've cooked more, noodles were extremely overcooked, pasta rossa sauce flavor is never the same, and the meatballs were dense. Last time I had this exact same meal, it was fantastic. The waitress was very friendly and checked on us immediately after entrees were brought out, but not again until we were ready for the check. My friend's water was empty and we were ready to go. There were only 3 tables seated at the time. First time I didn't take leftovers home. If the food was more consistent, I would happily spend money here. But currently, not worth the high prices. They also took my favorite sandwich, the French Dip, off of the menu, which doesn't relate to this review but does disappoint me.

We go to Basil's regularly usually on wine special nights when they have free wine sampling and 30% off wine bottles. They have a variety of beers, wines and craft cocktails. I love their salads; my favorites are the kale salad and goat cheese & pancetta salad. I usually add a salmon filet! Their pastas are hand made and delicious as well. They do often run out of certain ingredients so there have been several times that some dishes were unavailable.

We had a lovely dinner at Basil's. My husband had a Steak sandwich & a salad & I had the Salmon & Broccolini with Risotto with a Limoncello Martini! Both of our dinners were very good with great service! I definitely would return for another dinner! Restaurant was very clean & tidy!

This is definitely the spot for a nice wine & pasta lunch! I've always gotten the chicken pesto pasta, but you can also never go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs. Everything is fresh and the service is quick! They have great salads as well that are a good portion so you won't be left hungry. They also have a different menu for dinner with additional entrees that aren't offered for lunch.

Located just off king St with parking around I walked here when I discovered it online while trying to find something new to me. It looks beautiful from the outside, lots of greenery , it's a old house renovated into a restaurant. I came at the tail end of lunch so it wasn't busy, but they do take reservations. I sat on the covered outdoor patio and loved my table. They have a nice cocktail, wine and beer menu. A lunch menu with apps, salads, pasta and focaccia paninis. I got a empress G&T, which was a good classic. Drew my server was so sweet and very handsome! I ordered a focaccia panini , with prosciutto, mozzarella and tomatoes and mushrooms and basil. When he bought it out he said they had just made the bread. They also make their own pasta. Sandwich was delicious and full of yummy ingredients and the bread was very fresh. Also served with a nice green salad. Then I left room for a little dessert. They have a to die for salted Carmel gelato Affogato. You pick your gelato, which Drew said they import from Italy. This was one of the best I've ever had, they give you espresso separate in its own little vessel. Great end to a fabulous lunch. I would come back here anytime I'm in Boone. There was about a 30 minute wait. We briefly stepped out and returned, only to learn our table had been ready but the text notification did not go through due to a phone number error. Not a big issue, we waited patiently with our two children ages 8 and 10. While we were waiting, the hostess went up to a man working the bar wearing a hat to speak to him about our table. She appeared apologetic and uncomfortable. His response and body language came across as irritated and dismissive. While still nearby, we overheard the same man speaking loudly to a bar customer and referring to a woman as "one of those crazy b***** online." It appeared connected to the table involved in the interaction that followed. After we were seated, the same man, who had been working the bar, came into the dining area and approached another table, a group that appeared to be in their 60s to 70s, regarding a receipt or refund issue. Based on his role and how he handled the situation, I initially assumed he was a manager. The discussion became tense. The woman at the table shook her receipt and said something to the effect of listening to him was making her more upset. At that point, he raised his voice and shouted profanity, telling her to "get the f*** out of my restaurant." As he walked away, he turned back and began shouting again, saying additional things about his integrity and honesty, then again told her to "get the f*** out" before storming into the kitchen. This occurred in the middle of the dining room with children present, including our own and another nearby table with young girls. From the back of the restaurant, loud banging could be heard, and it appeared he struck a wall or object while shouting additional profanity. The table he addressed appeared shaken and quietly left without further argument. The entire restaurant went silent. The servers themselves were professional and kind throughout the evening, but the outburst clearly affected the atmosphere for everyone. Overall, the food was about a 7 out of 10. The lasagna was good. Other dishes were mixed. The spaghetti marinara was very bitter and unbalanced, the shrimp scampi was heavy, and the amount of butter served with the rolls was excessive. Later, I was told by staff that the man involved is the owner's son. Later that night, my son told me that as he and the same man reached the single occupancy restroom door at the same time, the man told him to go first, but did so in a sharp and impatient manner that came across as aggressive. After witnessing repeated profanity and outbursts earlier in the evening, having my child spoken to in that manner by the same individual was completely unacceptable. Regardless of internal issues, repeated profanity, raised voices, and aggressive behavior toward guests, especially with children present, is not appropriate in a restaurant setting. We will not return and would caution families before dining here.
