Where did your mega deep dish go? I was so sad ordering takeout for a large and being told you don't do that size anymore. Guys, when I order from you, I need my 20-pound pizza! This is still a 5/5 because your deep dish is phenomenal, that's exactly why I need the large back. The staff is super friendly, the place is clean, and they have an awesome salad bar. The garlic knots are also a must-have. I love you, Capones, but please bring our big deep dish back! read more

Normally this place is awesome- We eat here every time we visit Boone This time around not as good as usual. Although the people at the desk were really nice the pizza was Not done with care- it was All dough- everything was pushed to the middle very little sauce- didn't taste like a deep dish pizza. The side salad was well not worth it. The place was clean and plenty of parking. We will maybe try again next visit. read more

It has been a looooooong time since I have eaten at Capone's but went 11/8/25. Still great after the long await. The seating, etc is very confusing. Grab Menu, sit at a numbered table, walk back to counter to order food, food brought out, you eat, then you pay. Great Pizza and Garlic knots read more

Tiny salad but tasty. Same with food portions. Service is not good and it's confusing environment. They asked "what you want " when we entered and then we said trying to sit in and eat and they said that do you know the food you want or you need menus. And then we had to read menus at table and walk to front of bar to order the food then back to our seat. No waiter is fine just gotta have decent service and explain instead of being awkward read more

Great, local pizza in Boone that everyone loves! Theme is Al Capone, of course. They also have a salad bar, too. Definitely come here. COVID Update: The manager is so friendly and helpful, now and for many years prior to this. I am so happy to see him wearing gloves and a mask as he is inside taking delivery and to-go orders only. The wearing of a mask does wonders for me during this terrifying time in our country. It never hurts for anyone to take extra safety precautions. Thank you, Capone's, for continuing to serve your Boone community. read more

The pizza place is awesome, we felt bad they are so short handed. We got a Margherita pizza, the cheese (no need to ask for extra) this pizza is loaded with cheese. The sauce was sweet and tasty, it also has tomato's and basil which added a nice bite to it. The salad we got could have feed 4 people. It was fresh not made yesterday or earlier in the day. Definitely a go to place. read more

Food was ok. I guess no waitstaff or something because it was weirdly set up. They sit you at a table and when when youre ready to order you go back to where you come in at the front desk. Get your own drinks and sit and wait for it to come. Now its a 3rd person "helping " us and still feels weird. Maybe it was unhappy employee at the front desk we had to deal with a couple of times. 8/14/24 read more

I really like the order system and freedom to refill personal drinks. Nothing much to say about service other than food coming out quick and how the staff was very welcoming. The Garlic Knots were so good. There were so many for such a great price, such a steal and again, very very good. Got a small half cheese, half pepperoni pizza and it was kind of bland. Had it before and that time it was so good, but this time it seemed it had sat out in the cold before being served. The restaurant itself is really fun and welcoming. It was very chillaxed. read more

Was not made aware that we had to order ourselves. My boyfriend and I were handed menus and then sat for 20 minutes with no idea where our waiter was, turns out you had to serve yourself. Ended up leaving. read more

First time here , wanted to try the place, walked in stood for a bit no one approached so assumed it was seat yourself , sat at a table for bit no one approached back to the front desk was told to order there. The person at the desk took my order said the beer I ordered was on the second shelf and gestured at the bar. So I grabbed my beer from the second shelf and sat down. The owner came to our table asked if I took the beers , I told him yes I was told they were on the second shelf . He called me a liar continued to curse at us. I tried to explain but he would not listen. He followed me out the door continued to curse and call us liars. I had left my hat and phone at the table he threw at my chest and said here is your stuff. Could have been handled as the misunderstanding it was. Wish I could rate the pizza but the owner is more interested in showing what a BIG man he is. Avoid this place at all cost. If managed like this i can not imagine that the food is good. read more

We came up to Boone to visit. Decided to give Capone's a try. What a great choice!! We way over ordered because they had so many choices. My review below Salad bar - 7 of 10 Garlic Knots 10 of 10 Baked Chicken wings 10 of 10 (best wings I've had in NC) Pizza 10 of 10 (got the speciality Sicilian) Service 9 of 10 A must try in Boone! read more

The pizzas are so terribly greasy. The garlic knots are dry. The knots were basically sitting in fake butter, but they were not baked properly and had zero moisture. For a family of four we paid over $70 and left most of our food there. My kids had stomach aches after and to be honest I don't feel that great either. I'm not sure what the rave reviews were about, but we won't be back. read more

Good pizza. My son had the Stromboli with basil. My husband and I shared the California with olive oil instead of marinara. We usually think marinara is too salty but theirs was good. First off there is no waitress service. Pizza is ordered as you come in the door. The place lacks any semblance of ambiance. Half the place Is cluttered with boxes and unused furniture and salad bar equipment. Had to pay for the pizza before we got it so we put a full tip on the bill. There was a jar on the counter asking for additional tip for the cook the only thing the waitress did was bring the pizza and get us hot pepper. We also had to go across the room to get our sodas, paper plates and utensils. The pizza was Ok. Over priced but tasty. The crust looked as if it was premade similar to what you would get in frozen pizza. My husband liked The pizza but I wasn't crazy about it BMW we a a read more

I graduated from App State in 2016 and had only heard amazing things about Capone's, but never got around to going. This past weekend while visiting Boone, my partner and I decided to go there for dinner, and I was super excited. The had a great selection of local beers on draft so I tried to order one. The waitress told me she's not familiar with out of state licenses (South Carolina) and wanted to show it to her manager, which I get because she just doing her job. The manager comes over and tells me that my license is fake, even though I'm 24 years old, and he then told me to "get a better fake." While my SC license normal gets a double take in Boone, I've never been accused of my license being fake, especially in such a condescending manner. Now, as a former restaurant manager, I understand you have to do your job, but there was no need to be make patrons feel uncomfortable. We stayed and ordered our food, which was good for the price. Our waitress was kind and helpful throughout the rest of our time there. While the food was okay, I don't think I would ever come back here based on the behavior of the manager on duty. So, if you have a baby face and an out of state license, I wouldn't try to order beer here, or you might be met with a condescending lecture about your "fake id." read more

I have been getting pizza from Capones for many years. I was always a fan of their hand tossed crust; it has a nice mix of crunch and chewiness. I have recently tried both the deep dish and thin crust options. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the deep dish. I was anticipating a more traditional Chicago deep dish, but what I experienced was essentially a hand tossed pizza with an extra tall, chewy crust. By no means was it bad, just not what I was expecting. The thin crust goes head to head for me with the hand tossed. It is not a thin, crispy cracker crust, but it provides a nice balance between crust and toppings. I have always loved a ricotta based, white pizza, and the 12 years on King Street doesn't disappoint. Ricotta, garlic, and just the right amount of basil! A plain Jane pepperoni hand tossed is also never a bad choice! read more

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us to one of our favorite pizza spots, Capone's Pizza in Boone. Formerly located in a small hole-in-the-wall store front in historic downtown Boone, recently they moved into a larger space in New Market Centre. Dora here. Capone's moved from a prime location on King Street, but that prime spot costs them in terms of customers due to lack of parking. Also, maybe, they squeezed twenty booths in that cramped space. In their new New (lol) Market Centre location, diners have room to spread out in here. Much nicer than their cramped King Street location. And parking galore! When we visit Capone's, we have two favorites, the Chicago Style Deep Dish and the Don Vito stuffed pizza. This time we went with the Chicago deep dish, meat supreme on my half and just pepperoni on Dora's. This pizza is outstanding, with a thick chewy crust (which I usually do not eat because I'd rather eat an extra slice), topped with pepperoni, hamburger, crumbled bacon, diced ham and sausage. The meat items are fresh and the pie has just the right amount of sauce. Dora here. Just a heads up. This isn't authentic Chicago style, but it works for us. Light on the marinara, not overly cheesy, and a ginormous thick and doughy crust. YUM! Every time we come, we say we're going to order something different because Capone's has a robust menu loaded with non-pizza options, but it never happens. We alternate between the Don Vito Stuffed Pizza and this Chicago style deep dish. One day we'll try their Stromboli or the Meatball Sub or...um, probably not. Our server was friendly and the pizza came out quick. If you're a resident or just camping out in the area for a few days, Capone's is a MUST TRY! What about you? How do you like your pizza? We'd love to know! ~Ernie & Dora Hiers, Fiction Faith & Foodies Blog read more

Went a while without eating at Capone's because I had just been disappointed. We decided to give it another go during the pandemic when things were closed and the pizzas were on point! So much better than I remembered. To top it off they are doing the right thing during the pandemic. Take out only and must be masked to enter. Best pizza in boone for sure and a great pie overall!!! There cheese is great and they are not stingy with it. Fresh house made dough and sauce and toppings that you don't see everywhere like Kabasa and sliced meatballs. Highly recommended. Many specialty pizzas and very creative. Many other things on the menu like sandwiches and wings to try also. Just give Capone's a try. read more

We ate here pre-Covid and thought it was really good. This time the food was average. The customer service was terrible. The cashier that greeted us was rude and honestly we felt like she did not want us to eat there. Most of the dining area is closed and no wait staff so you order up front and sit down if you choose. We asked for a side of ranch dressing and it was a $1.00 extra. Not sure we would go back read more

Capone's Pizza in Boone is a great place to get pizza. I really liked this place and the food was delicious and tasty. I like the vibe and atmosphere of this place with all the cool gangster decor and feel of the restaurant. The service was excellent as we were taken care of from the moment we walked in and were given everything we needed while eating. The deep dish pizza was worth the wait and really hit the spot and was some the best deep dish pizza that I have had. This restaurant was very clean and well run.
