Great food! I haven't tried the buffet but my son loves it. So many great authentic dishes to choose from

I think I got the Vegetarian Thandi it's almost like a sampler. I got sick and was on the toilet immediately after. I truly believe something was sour because it tasted sour. The white sauce just didn't taste good and the cheese cake balls that came with my dish was just...idk I can't explain it. Then it was the green stuff with Tofu steam was coming from it but it wasn't that hot like the steam was putting out. I will not be returning. My Boyfriend said there chicken Curry was " Just Ok " he likes Red Pepper chicken Curry more The best place in my opinion is red pepper in Bristol..I had a great experience and I wasn't on the toilet immediately after with diarrhea. I finally had the opportunity to visit Sahib. I'd been looking forward to it based on the reviews. I was craving Indian food and had the time, so went for lunch. Honestly the food was just OK. I got the buffet so I could try a few different things. First of all, there was plenty of steam coming from the buffet itself but nothing I got was hot. It was noon and moderately busy so I was quite surprised that nothing was hot. The tandoori chicken had a good taste. The chicken curry was mostly bones and cartilage. The chicken tikka masala was pretty mild but had a decent flavor. The naan was good but it was better by itself as the dips weren't great. The raita especially had a very weird taste and was pretty runny. I'm not saying that I wouldn't go back, but it definitely will not be a regular dining option for me. read more

Wow! My dining partner and myself were overly pleased. We ordered from the menu. I had a coconut curry with cheese as my protein, this also had rice on the side. My partner had a lamb and rice dish. We both had "mild" for the heat amount. We both took food away with us for another meal. The food was just hot enough to enjoy and still taste the flavor. I usually cannot get past the heat in most spicy dishes. The curry was so creamy. The lamb was very tender and seasoned well. The rice that came with the lamb was also well seasoned. They have a lunch buffet as well. We were also invited to try the appetizers and desserts on the buffet without extra charge. They also did not disappoint. The servers were always available and very well versed in English. The atmosphere was casual. The restaurant was clean with plenty of lighting. We are definitely going to return and try other dishes. I love the vegetarian thali! It is enough for two meals (for me). Three dishes, yogurt, a desert, three sauces, naan, and a crispy cracker (not sure the name of it). The options are mild, medium, or hot and you have to specify or you will end up with my mild. Ive tried all three and my favorite is hot. They seemed to be just opening up after a break when I visited, as noted by some regulars who came in while I was waiting for my takeout. Seeing papadums and such granted to the visitors, I was beginning to wonder whether I should have eaten in despite the nice weather. However, I found my takeout bag contained all sorts of things, including a papadum and sauces, as well as rice with whole spices in it, and a lentil soup spiced with something along the lines of a ghost pepper. The option to order chole bhatura as an appetizer resulted in two small but fluffy fried breads and some fantastic chickpeas. For anyone who hasn't tried dipping a fried bread in a chickpea curry which has cinnamon and fruity notes, if that sounds a little strange your tastebuds will likely get on board with this flavor quickly. I added a stir fry of okra and onions; it was a bit heavy on okra stems, good to waste less I guess but I'm still not really a fan of those. Sahib has always been one of my favorite places to dine in the Tri-Cities. I visited yesterday to celebrate my birthday. The experience was wonderful! The service was quick and the staff were very attentive, even asking my name and the proper spelling to add to my birthday dessert. The food was delicious as always. I had lunch there today, I wasnt really sure what Indian food consisted of, it was good, not much of a selection compared to other buffets I have been to and I thought the price was excessive. The lunch buffet was $16.99 each, the total for 2 with iced teas was $42.68. I know prices on most everything has gone up recently that was excessive in my opinion for what you got. read more

I drove up to Sahib on 11/05 (election day) from Gastonia, NC. I have been wanting to try this place out for a couple years. They have around 18 items on the buffet so lots of choices. The food is beautiful and tastes good. Incredible? No. Good. Yes. All said it was surprisingly mild. My understanding is that they rotate items daily. I called a day or 2 before going and asked what was on the buffet. The place was packed at 12:30pm. That should tell you something. I enjoyed the meal but was a little bummed that there was no butter chicken or samosas on the lunch buffet the day I went. No biggie. All of the employees were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is fine inside and a bit odd bc of add ons to the original building. Prices are very reasonable-$13.99 lunch buffet on weekdays. I think it's $2 more on weekends. Found this place looking at reviews and craving something different from usual Southern fare. Very good Indian food eatery owned by local Indian family in Johnson City. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Service was great and helpful. Prunes are reasonable. Naan Bread Basket is good with choice of 3 different flavored naan breads. This restaurant is a shining star in our city. From the minute you walk in the door, you are greeted with a smile, offered something to drink and the food choices are plenty. The buffet has something for everyone. I had the chicken tandoori and my husband had the goat. Be prepared for large portions which left us with yummy leftovers to take home.
