We went for lunch, and did the lunch buffet. It's a super super small buffet with limited options however as small as it is everything was AMAZING. They had most of your favorites for selections and the flavors were on point. No mystery meats either like most major buffets. The chicken was chicken lol. It was relatively busy and they kept the hot food flowing, place clean and the service was great too! Cleared your table immediately so you didn't have dishes piled up, drinks filled so you were never waiting on someone. Give them a visit so we never lose this gem!! read more

You need plenty of Luck if you think you going to get a good meal. Everything was dry except the soup. The vegetables were under cook, Just about raw just warm. The meats were all over cooked and hard to chew. There were no liquids with anything, very dry no sauce. All deserts were from a can or store-bought stale cookies, The fortune cookie was very old and stale. The price was higher than Hibachi Grill in Johnson City but only had 1/3rd of the choices. This review is for takeout only. I did take a look at the buffet today and it didn't look bad. The restaurant has a very mom and pop vibe. My husband and I ordered cheese wontons, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, kung pao beef, and beef mein fun. The cheese wontons weren't bad. They were standard fare. My 7 year-old loved them. The hot and sour soup was very good and very spicy. My husband liked the egg drop soup. It was very eggy, but he said it tasted fresh. The kung pao beef was very spicy, but good. The beef mein fun had steamed beef, but it was pretty good. They have a convenient website for online ordering. I placed my order over the phone and the lady was very nice. They also have some vegetarian options and a "healthy" steamed section on their menu. Overall, I'd say this place is a safe bet for takeout. I've been too scared to eat at the buffet. Although I live only 10 minutes away, this is the first time I've eaten here and it was because our regular Chinese place was closed today. I would order takeout again there for sure. read more

I absolutely love this place! I have known the family who owns it for at least 13 years. They cook good authentic Chinese food. I love everything on their buffet, Coconut Chicken and General's Chicken is the best I have ever had. I have tried different Chinese Restaurants in the area and have not been able to find one that comes close to China Luck. Service is great, you get seated and drinks brought to your table right away. It's a buffet with Hibachi Grill so you just go and help yourself. They have a TV that usually stays on a News Station like CNN. Bathrooms are always clean. The Owner and his Wife are from China so they know how to cook! Prices are reasonable and they have carry out. They also own a business next door that is great for young children to play It gets more expensive every time I go to eat there, unfortunately it's not worth what they charge so I won't be going back read more

Ordered the lunch specials on Saturday. First off, prices on web are wrong and then you look at menu inside and she says, add $1 to everything! Lunch specials are $9.99. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Chicken chow mein. The Sesame chicken was just ok. A little dry with no sauce. The Chicken chow mein went directly in the trash. I seriously don't like one-starring places. And I typically am fortunate enough not to have to since I research places before going there. I kept seeing this place whenever I would stop into Kalm Bistro, which is a solid 5+ star BTW. Finally I looked it up and saw reviews that ranged to best Chinese food ever to disgusting. I didn't go for awhile but when I saw they had hibachi decided to give it a try. My logic is that when a buffet place has a hibachi section you can at least get something cooked fresh. Now to the buffet. The food had been sitting out for awhile, a long while. It was dry and crusty. The wasabi on the sushi bar was even crusty. I also noticed that pretty much everything on the buffet was unhealthy and fried. I looked over the sushi to determine what the fish was in it, and it was so old and dry that I couldn't figure it out. I tried some of the safer looking items and they were as bad as they looked. Made it to the hibachi. Got my plate of food and selected the spicy garlic sauce. After I received my plate I took a bit and could barely swallow. The sauce was sickening sweet. I tried to save it with the other pitiful looking sauces that had been sitting out on the buffet for a long time, but it was beyond saving. I forced down a couple bites, paid, and left. I was somewhat worried about the future effects of the old food, but I seem to have turned out safe. Last time I am taking that risk. read more

The buffet is sized right for the size of the restaurant. There were about 15 entrees available. All were hot and appeared fresh. They put out small portions so nothing sat around too long. The coconut chicken was pretty sweet without an overpowering coconut flavor. The pepper chicken was nicely spiced. The potstickers were a bit dry, especially the top of the wrapper, but the dipping sauce was very good. Everything else I tried was at least average. They had egg drop and sweet and sour soup, but I didn't try any this trip. The sides included an egg wrap/ cup which was really good. It had a creamy texture almost like cheese, but was definitely egg. The wrapper points should be broken off​ before eating . The spring rolls were a bit bland, but nicely crispy. The Kim Chee was really good. Crunchy and very spicy just like it should be. Other sides included fruit, cookies, and ice cream. The melon was nice but the flavor of the watermelon was not good. This was probably isolated to that particular watermelon. The restaurant is located at the end of a small strip mall. There is plenty of parking. I would guess 50 or so people could be seated. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately and our drink orders taken. We went to the buffet and our drinks were waiting when we got back. Timely refills made sure our glasses never were empty. I would definitely go back to try some of the other items I was to fill to try this time. The price is right and the food is good. read more

This place is pretty bad. Table they sat us down at didn't look like it was wiped down. Buffet was messy, food dry and stale tasting and we came in during lunch time. The pho which is a Vietnamese dish, was horrible lol Their crab Rangoon was probably the only thing that I would say is acceptable. read more

Passing through, craving Chinese, found it here on Yelp, looked good. I was not disappointed! Good variety, tastes fresh, friendly service, especially loved the hot noodle soup! But word to the wise, the noodle soup is a huge portion, could be a meal in itself. So if you believe in not wasting food, I wouldn't get both it AND the buffet. In fairness I really tried to give this place a chance. The first time I went it was super late & right before they closed, so I chalked the dried out food to them not cooking fresh that late at night. The second time was a little earlier but still a little after typical dinner hours. Food was still horrible. The third time I waited about 6 months before I returned and went around 6:30PM. Very questionable chicken, very dry, very old. To the point that sauces were congealed. Rice had started hardening. Honestly I couldn't be convinced that food had been prepared the same day. It's embarrassingly bad and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, let alone someone spending their money. Save yourself the frustration or you'll leave and be at a nearby restaurant waiting on fresh food too and writing a new yelp review. read more

Just overall bad food and run down restaurant. Buffet food obviously had been sitting out for a very long time without being replenished. It was dry and over cooked. Everything on the buffet was unhealthy and fried with hardly any vegetables. What vegetables were there were very overcooked and soggy, not lightly stir fried like you expect from Chinese cuisine. This is a really quaint place, family oriented and very friendly. While they dont have a huge buffet section it was a great assortment for the size of the place. There are really few complaints about it to be honest and one is really trivial but the fried rice was either over done or left to sit too long, trivial points A and B - A. the sushi selection isnt great ( 2kinds ). B. the pieces are cut way too big. Other than that the egg rolls aren't that great and the temperature of the bars could be turned up a little to keep the food a little hotter. Aside from those little things the staff and owners are really great and there wasnt a time they weren't checking on customers and food insuring a great visit and fresh food. read more

When I first started living in Gray, TN, I was looking for a local Chinese establishment. I went to this place a few times and overall the food is okay. Not a huge variety, but for sure a selection of Americanized Chinese foods. I would say to go to this place if you are needing something extremely quick, but not a place to go often. read more

Thank you for your review. We're a buffet restaurant, some items on the bar are not as fresh, I agree. But you allege that everything is dry and not good, it is untruthful to me. We do the best to improve our menu and service everyday. We cannot please everybody, especially a person like you. No buffet restaurant can guarantee every item is as fresh as everyone wants. But you pay one price and get more than thirty items to choose from. I believe it's best deal for the money, but it's not for everybody. For some people, it's better to stay with the V. bistro soup and roll the rest of their lives. Anyway, good or bad we appreciate your review. read more

The food is always fresh and the hibachi grill has a really good selection. The owners are very friendly and are offering new selections. They offered us the opportunity to try a new beef soup last night and it was delicious. We are always very happy eating here. read more

China Luck is not a huge mega-buffet, but all of their food is good quality. They put out small serving and frequently replinsh the buffet to keep the food fresh. Their Mongolian grill is also very good. read more
