There's a Chinese buffet in town and we found it. Second time eating here and loved it both times. Walk in and they seat you right away and take your drink order. Next you visit any of the four rows of main dinner entrees; one row of salad bar; one small row of desserts; and there is a hibachi station in the rear. You choose what you eat and how much you eat. It's all up to you. Please leave your dirty dishes on the table and get a clean plate each time you go back to the buffet. Two sides to the dining area with the food in the middle of the restaurant. A comfortable atmosphere tastefully decorated with lite Chinese ornamentations. I didn't notice anything dirty and there was an employee vacuuming the dining area to keep things clean during service. A medium large buffet with plenty of choices. Everything you would expect plus some nice extras. A decent amount of seafood options. Sadly most of it was pretty bland and samey. Meaning even though there was plenty of options they all tasted the same. I think it's one of those places that just makes two sauces and uses them on everything. I could be wrong, maybe it's just because everything is bland it all ends up tasting the same. Some how they got the fried rice to be less flavorful than steamed white rice. It's extra sad because most things were well cooked. Veggies were crisp without being raw. Meat items were tender without being mushy. Some of the fried meat items had been on the table too long though and were inedibley dry. The fried items were well done also, and made with fresh oil so they were not greasy. Service was pretty standard for a Chinese buffet. Adequate and respectful but not really warm or friendly. There is a Mongolian style grill station that I think is an up charge. I didn't try it but the ingredients there all looked fresh and there was a great variety. I'll def try it next time. An ok eating experience overall. Just don't expect flavour explosions. There is an assortment of sauce packs on the table though so you can doctor things up. I recommend it for weekday nights you don't feel like or can't cook at home but not for special occasions. read more

Out of the many times I've gone it's been a 1/10, being decent the rest of the time you either dislike your taste buds or love bland food. When I went to the grill portion, there was items needing to be refilled like noodles and when I tried to get his attention, he was glued to his phone. This is a reminder to myself NEVER to eat here again. Twice I've tried here when friends insisted it was good. It was NOT. Everything is dried out and crusty from being under hot lights for days at a time. Smells absolutely nauseating, like very old fish. Tried the salad, thinking nothing could be worse than the hot bar, and had a bite of the most RANCID cottage cheese I have ever tasted. Had to literally spit it out on my plate which I have not done since I was 3 years old. All the veggies were soggy. Poked around in my lettuce and found bits with what looked like caked mud. Have not been to Ming's in a couple months I don't know if they have new cooks or what but the food was lousy. I used to love the place. When the person in front of me paid they even commented on how bad it was. The young lady behind the counter said new cook and when she gave me my change she just about threw it at me. So I kept my mouth shut and came on here to file my complaint. I won't be going back for a real long time. I don't recommend it at this point. read more

This was our first time at Ming Garden. TLDR - we thought it was decent but ended up with food poisoning. Read on for all the details of our experience. Parking was difficult but we had high hopes when we went inside and saw the variety offered. For the most part, we both thought the food tasted good. There were some exceptions . The Mongolian chicken was almost completely onions. The pepper steak and the beef with broccoli had very weird tasting, bland beef. There were tons of very young children up at the buffet unattended (I realize this is a parenting issue and not a restaurant issue but it is worth noting). The restaurant also has an overall cleanliness issue (buffet trays stacked everywhere, part of the buffet table being used for staging to go order accoutrements with signs saying "employees only"). Our waitress was inattentive, we had to flag her down for drink refills and she did not give us more ice - just lukewarm water. She brought our check when we sat down with our second plate - as if trying to rush us out. We noticed her doing this other tables as well. I get they were busy, but at least allow us to finish a couple of plates before showing us the door! The Mongolian barbecue was good, but they were not good about keeping items and sauces refilled, I was literally tilting and scraping the sauce containers and the attendant was just staring. He didn't make a move to refill any of them even after my food was done. We eventually paid and left. Both of us woke up the next morning with food poisoning. We will not be back at Ming Garden! read more

Gave it a 2 star because the metal Mongolian ingredient dishes were all dirty and had this build up on the edges. There were certain attention to detail areas that concerned us, namely the buffet had food areas that were cool and not food safe. The buffet over all was about average. But cleanliness really brought our assessment down. read more

First time experience here. The restaurant was clean and the food was served fresh hot and quickly. I didn't really care for my kung pao but it was fresh and hot. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of Hot sauces on the Mongolian bar but the Mongolian chef was really good. Everything was perfectly cooked. Above normal. I absolutely love this place! It's hands down one of the best chinese restaurants in Kingsport. My personal favorites are their egg rolls which are incredible both hot or cold the next day, the crab rangoon, and omg the chicken on a stick is amazing here!
