The food was mediocre ~ not very flavorful. Not the Red Ginger I remember before they closed. Lost my business.

Always great! Smallish buffet, but very tasty and reasonably priced. And, the hostess is always nice.

My first and last time there. At lunch today, several dishes were empty. Other dishes were cold and tasteless. On top of this, the owners were engaged in loud angry arguments with each other and the staff in their native language. No one was attempting to quiet things down. Very unprofessional. Back to the food, the only things that I liked were the stuffed mushrooms and fried zucchini, The crab rangoon tasted like cream cheese in a cold wonton. They only have one tray of sushi. This restaurant was recently rated sixth in the nation, and frankly I am stumped as to how this happened! The restaurant is a small, non-descript storefront establishment. The buffet offers the same fare as every other Chinese buffet in the United States. The buffet is also very small with a limited number of options to choose from. There are three serving areas, approximately 12 feet in length, one of which is totally devoted to "desserts". These include a large number of various Jello flavors. The two hot bars had nothing unusual, lots of chicken dishes if that's your thing. Quite frankly, our China Buffet in Greeneville TN has much better and more varied offerings. The best Chinese buffet I've had in a long time. It's not huge but has a great selection. They even have some things I'd never seen before at other places. All the chicken dishes were tender unlike not buffets where the chicken is dry and over cooked. Staff was super friendly as well. This will now be our go to place. read more

There's got to be a better option - either a different Chinese restaurant or a different type of food. It is a buffet, this is true. Some dishes are unexplainable yet describe-able, such as "spinach topped with cheese," while others, like the garlic bread cut into tiny pieces are just not edible (in this case crouton-like but not in a good way). The hot and sour soup has nice chunks of tofu but doesn't taste like any hot and sour I've ever experienced. People who enjoy fried foods will appreciate the breaded zucchini, onion rings, and shrimp along with sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls and 2 styles of spring rolls. Desserts include 2 flavors of pudding and 2 flavors of jello. read more

If you go at peak hours, the food is limited, but it is fresh. If you go off-peak hours, the food is dried nasty not very good. So if you go to this restaurant? I would advise going during peak hours. Do ensure good food and fresh. And just so people know the owners of this restaurant had The Great Wall in Elizabethton Tennessee. They shut it down and opened it under a new name. A different location, Jim is the red Ginger. Because the bad quality and the bad ratings and the nastiness of the place, they shut it down and moved it, that's all they do. Now the service of the waiters and waitresses is pretty good. They make sure that you've got your drinks and that you don't go empty. And if you have an issue, you can pick it app with them, but ask for if you go on off-peak hours, trying to get fresh food, you might as well try to pull your own tooth, you'd have better luck. read more

Price is very affordable at $10.99 with no drink, $12.99 with a drink. There was a variety of foods, but it was very bland. The foods aren't labeled either, so you don't know what you're eating. The foods must have been sitting on the warmer for a while because it was either dry, rubbery, or hard. read more

Small and limited options however good quality compared to other buffets in east TN. The coconut shrimp and shrimp sauce is excellent. Everything else is average to slightly above average. I wanted some egg rolls and a Chinese food fix after finishing up Christmas shopping. Got the buffet to go on Sunday around 5 pm. First time here and went based on yelp reviews. It was just ok. Nothing stood out as delicious but nothing was bad either. Hot and sour soup was pretty good. Egg rolls were fairly bland. Everything was mostly freshly-made and didn't appear to have been sitting for a long time. The service left a lot to be desired and that's where the 3 stars come from. I'm generally pretty friendly and found the cashier to be downright rude/flat/ indifferent in her response to me and my questions before and after I got my food. She wasn't overly busy. Nobody was checking in or out while I was there. Didn't even offer a smile or a thank you. Didn't offer a bag, utensils, or sauces for my container, soup, or small cup of sweet and sour sauce, and I had to be sure they didn't spill in the car. Price was good. By the container and not the weight. Not sure I'd return. read more

A wonderful surprise! I generally avoid Chinese buffets, but I will be back to Red Ginger. The decor is lovely. The restaurant is clean. The food is fresh and mostly excellent - the Sweet and Sour chicken was, unfortunately, the standard Chinese takeout version of fried battered chicken with a bright red sauce. The desserts are a mixed lot, and include pudding clearly just dumped out of a can, jello, several cookies, and mediocre cream puffs, but I don't go to a Chinese restaurant for dessert anyway. I really am a fan of this place it is right in the middle of town and simple to get to. The food is good sometimes it seems to be only at room temp so maybe they may need to turn the heat up or something. The employees are very nice always making the visit even more enjoyable. read more

I wanted to like this place. I really did. The service as far as being a buffet place was very on top of things and friendly. The food was all at least decent aside from the wonton soup which was terrible in comparison to other Chinese places I've tried. The problem was that everything was barely room temperature. If they invested in better heating standards for their main meats and poultry, I'd give them 4 stars. Standard Chinese buffet. The location isn't huge and so neither is the selection of dishes unless you order from the menu. Pepper steak is it for beef, and there's mushroom pork and of course pork in the egg rolls, but the widest variety of meat dishes involve chicken. For seafood there's the ubiquitous salmon, fried shrimp, and happy family has shrimp in it. What makes it 4 stars instead of 3 is the way the shrimp is cooked when ordering from the menu. I really like shrimp, but most places overcook it, resulting in anything from chewy to dry. Not so at Red Ginger! Shrimp cooked fresh here is cooked properly. Hot and sour soup is generally pretty good. Also, I'm fond of the chocolate chip cookies that are baked dark to the point of almost but not quite burnt. Too, there are little star-shaped shortbread cookies with an apple filling that are quite nice with a cup of hot tea. And, as others have mentioned, service is friendly an attentive. read more
