Granny's Kitchen wasn't in my plans for dinner but I pulled in the parking lot to turn around and decided just to eat there as I was exhausted. The buffet is not normally something I'd chose but was where I ended up. I took it as a sign I was meant to be there. They have an entrance and exit door then the host or hostess will seat you. The buffet was $16.95 with drinks and dessert extra. This is a very busy place and they have two tables of 4 next to each other so different groups were seated at each 4 top. The buffet has one section for a salad, lettuce and toppings. Then the next section is hot foods with a variety of vegetables and meats. I remember potatoes, corn, fried chicken and meatloaf and on the end is a carving station for roast beef. But I know there were more options. The salad portion was ok but the potatoes and the corn were great. Then I had roast beef and really enjoyed that. They don't give big portions of it so you need to make a multiple trip. I did have some apples too and liked those. Service was friendly and kept my iced tea filled. I had heard about the pie so decided to get a slice of the peanut butter pie to go. The pie was ok and I wouldn't order that again. I'd return to Granny's Kitchen as the food was very good. I'd prefer ordering from a menu though rather than the buffet. If you like comfort food, this is the place to go, especially if you stay in Cherokee. I came here 2 days in a row for dinner. Both days I came the soup of the day was vegetable soup. It was pretty good, but I'd probably would lessen the salt if I were making it. It's a buffet, but the selection is pretty limited, but feel free to go for seconds. I'm not sure how often they change it up, but one day they had ham on the line, and the other day was fried pork chop? The ham was good. The roast beef was also good, which I think is an everyday item. There's someone at the end of the buffet line who will carve out the meat for you. They had pretty standard sides you would expect: mash potatoes, green beans, corn, etc and a full salad bar. For dessert was chocolate pudding. I think it might be a good value for what it is, my bill came out to $25 with the tip and credit card fee. Ambiance was a mix vibe. The bathroom was well kept and clean the servers were friendly and the food was great. This is a home cooked meal buffet with all the items you would expect at your Granny's table. Let's start with ordering is super easy . I included a picture of the menu taken 7/24. Pricing is not bad at all in today's economy. The place itself has a lot of seating so we didn't wait long at all and the parking lot look pretty full. The place was a bit noisy but not so noisy that it was a distraction. The surprising thing was there was one and only one buffet carousel. Both sides were available to get your food. This was for lunch on a Saturday. The food was good old southern comfort food. We found the food lacking a bit of salt. Like most buffets, surely there is something you will find that you really like. . Mine was the baked apples. There was one soup - chicken noodle. The soup was next to the plates. The salads included pasta salad, coleslaw, potato salad and mixed greens. Then a good amount of toppings for your mixed greens. The made up almost 1/2 of the buffet bar. A quarter of the bar was devoted to side dishes. Green beans, Mac and cheese, cabbage, black eyed beans. Then the last quarter was the main entrees and spiced apples. 2 Main meals - fried chicken and pot roast which could be put over rice. One and only one dessert- chocolate pudding with whipped cream and cookie crumbles. You paid as you left with the cashier not at the table and there was a 3% credit/debit transaction fee. Such a cute little place! And all the proceeds the day we went were going to families from Hurricane Helene so that was such a worthy cause! Service was super friendly and the restaurant had a big layout even though it looked smaller from outside! It was a small buffet but enough for even your picky eaters! Easy to find with a lot of parking. Handicapped spaces are by the entrance door with many other spaces adjacent to the building. There is another parking row across a traffic lane and more along the side of the building. It looks like they could handle a lot of people. We had a short wait for a table during the dinner rush. Once seated the waitress took our drink order quickly and we went to the buffet line. Our drinks were waiting on the table when we returned. The salad section was good with crisp lettuce and a lot of topping choices. Maybe nothing unusual but certainly all the typical ones. Protein choices were meatloaf, fried chicken, and roast beef. The meatloaf and fried chicken were both good. The roast beef was overdone. There should be at least pink in the middle but there was none here. Sides were roasted potatoes, green beans, fried okra, and mac and cheese. We only tried the potatoes and okra and both were prepared as expected. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full. This is a decent place but nothing exciting. read more

I had a car full of hungry kids and we didn't want fast food so we stopped by here. The place is very large, and the hostess was very nice. We got in and once we were seated, I realized there was only one buffet, half hot food, half salad. I couldn't believe it. $16 for adults and $10 for kids with a note on the buffet saying they'll charge you for wasted food. The food was subpar, with only one dessert which tasted like snack pack chocolate pudding. Mashed potatoes (which tasted like powdered potatoes) green beans, corn, and Lima beans with what I think was fish, ham, and fried chicken. $67 for a family of 4 to have one plate of food. The quarters here are tight which is why I have 4 stars for atmosphere-you will literally rub elbows with other people because the space is small and the crowds are big! We came at 1:20pm on a Friday-had a ten minute wait which was quicker than expected since the line was out the door! It's $13.95/Per person but a drink is not included-it's $3.95 a drink which I found totally excessive and gouging! Water is free. The salad bar was good-not great-canned mushroom instead of fresh was disappointing-the lettuce mix was weird too but lots of options! The buffet has limited options-it's not huge. This is not Golden Corral! But what they do serve is delicious. I've grown up in the south so at 56, I do have a taste for true southern food. The green beans are perfect, as is the fried chicken and the simple chicken gravy over rice-mmmmm-made me wanna slap my momma! It's a great value except for the drinks-those should be $2.50 max! It's off the beaten path but totally worth the deviation! I don't recommend if you're a true vegetarian because veggies had meat for seasoning. I was a little nervous about this place as reviews are pretty mixed but after a full day of hiking I was hungry and READY for dinner. Granny's ended up being a great choice. Salad bar was not huge but everything on it was very fresh and delicious. Tonight they had a really delicious fish and carved beef. They also had fried chicken (not bad but very breaded and I avoid breading) and ham. The ham was honey glazed. I do not care for ham but my husband said it was delicious. They also had green beans, potatoes, and lima beans. I am not sure what else they had for sides as I only ate salad and the meats. There was a single dessert which was an oreo pudding (I think). My husband enjoyed it (I avoid sugar so I didn't try it). Bonus: they have Pepsi products and I am always thrilled to have a cold Diet Pepsi. Our waitress was just fantastic. We tried everything - scrambled eggs, sausages, patty, fruits, biscuits, breadsticks; and had two servings each (we were hungry from an all nighter at the casino). After a spirited H.I.I.T. jaunt to atop the Smoky Mountains, I was in need of thousands of calories to replace such a workout, so I picked the closest place I saw, and to my good fortune it was a buffet. It had a solid rating, except for a recent review that was so funny I couldn't stop laughing all the way down the Newfound Gap road..the microdosed mushrooms consumed hours before may have contributed, and also the giddiness from having completed such a cool hike, but I had to check the place out after that. The guys review wasn't far off-half of the food did have the taste of cardboard, and the green beans were so overly salted they were hard to eat, but I hate to waste food so I did. I ate two huge plates, and the chicken was really good, and salad was good, but most everything else lacked taste. Still four stars, because for $13.50 it's hard to complain, and the older waitress was a peach deserving of a generous tip. The highlight was sitting down next to an old timer and bantering back and forth and becoming buddies. He joshed me for my sizeable plates of food after I remarked he was starting off small with the tiny bowl of vegetable soup. "Eat it while you can," he smiled saying he didn't have the appetite he once did. "Everyday is a gift." He remarked. So true. Such a kind soul. This place has a lot of nerve calling themself a buffet. More like a restaurant with a very limited menu. Any sit down restaurant in the country will give you more side options than this place offered on the buffet. The sides consisted of Lima beans, green beans, mashed potatoes (no gravy in sight) and some concoction that they told us was cheese and bread and pudding. We were lucky enough to sit near the buffet and watch the confusion from every customer as they walked up and tried to figure out the cheesy mess was. The meat choices were dry fried chicken, roast beef and basic ham. Overall I was pretty disappointed to spend $80 for 4 people and walk in and see that the buffet was so tiny.
