Made lemonade out of lemons or omelets out of cracked eggs. They had to come up with a way to reopen a buffet restaurant. They opted for a cafeteria-style. The employees stand on the other side of the food and dish up what you ask for. Each of those guys was pleasant and open for joking. The servers and bussers were equally pleasant. Very disappointing. Buffet consisted of green beans, boiled potatoes, fried okra, macaroni noodles and tomatoes in what looked like tomato juice, fried chicken, fried fish and roast beef. Also hard rolls and dry cornbread. Selection alone was ridiculously small for a buffet. Flavor was even worse. The fried fish were the same thing you find in a box in the freezer section of a grocery store. That is not an exaggeration at all. Green beans did have flavor which was surprising. The roast beef was decent. Service was lousy, very unfriendly. I am still shocked at the crowd. It had to be tourists like us who didn't know any better. Drinks were extra... $2.75 I think. For 3 of us it was right at $60 for lousy food, lousy service. After we left we went and bought pizza to actually get full. read more

Southern food buffet with solid choices. We came in at prime lunch time on a Saturday but were still seated right away. Waitress was quick and friendly and kept our drinks full. Large selection on the salad bar and multiple southern sides to choose from. Cabbage and black eyed peas were excellent. Cornbread was dry, probably from sitting too long. Beef stew was yummy and perfect over the biscuits. Hubby said the chicken was good, especially when he got a fresh piece. We'll go again when I'm the area. read more

I pulled into the parking lot and saw there were people waiting outside. Must be a popular place. I'll try it and I was hungry approaching hangry. Took a few minutes to get seated and i was surprised to see a fairly limited amount of food items on the one buffet station. OK let's go see what's on offer. Fried chicken and Salisbury steak. Some weird little fried things - maybe fish - I didn't take any. Cornbread, biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. Fried chicken was dry and could have been used as a deadly weapon the outer crust was so hard. Salisbury steak had been made from the finest output of the local gristle factory. Mashed potato was OK. Green beans were nearly gray beans and soft enough they could be sucked between my teeth. Cornbread was so dry I could feel very grain on my tongue. I didn't try a biscuit. My second visit to the buffet and some chicken and dumplings were on offer. This was in a faintly luminous yellow liquid. I thought the chicken would be good but it too was DRY. How is that possible? Maybe they use the fried chicken left over when they replenish it? The dumplings were under cooked and mushy on the inside. All in all a pretty miserable dining experience. I suppose if you just want to go stuff your face it's a good value but I can state very clearly i will not be returning to Granny's and I think if "Granny's" still alive she would be shocked to taste the food. read more

My man ate a little too much and felt like he couldn't get up to go to the car. LOL! Again, this is buffet style so if you're not a fan, keep driving. The breakfast is great but the lunch/dinner is ridiculously awesome. So breakfast consists of all you can eat: bacon, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, french toast sticks with piping hot syrup, kielbasa sausage links, oatmeal, grits...just to name a few. On to dinner: fried chicken, craving station, mashed potatoes, glazed ham, green beans, beans, soup of the day, creamed corn, bread. The price is something that you would never get in New York City, Chicago or even a smaller city like Columbus. Dinner on Sunday $12.95, every other day of the week $11.25. Breakfast is $8.25 & $8.95 weekdays and weekends. Yummy....and easy on the wallet....that makes it a 4 Star already but they throw in that it is awesome takes it to 5 stars. read more

This was the first restaurant that I had actually sat down for a meal at since covid started. I think they did a great job trying to keep everyone safe while meeting all the state requirements. The food was so good... Each night, they have different selections of food. Definitely will eat here again the next time we are in Cherokee. This all you can eat buffet was hopping when we arrived! The food was all fresh cooked and hot for what was supposed to be. The salads were cool and crisp and fresh. The down home cooking was wonderful! This place was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint! Our table and all the plates, silverware etc. were clean, as were the bathrooms. If you want a good buffet with choices & some cooked food, DO NOT VISIT Granny's Kitchen. The buffet was very small, every single choice was a pre-frozen deep fried (or canned) lukewarm & tasteless. They had a single carving station with a big hunk of meat. I couldn't really tell what kind of meat so I asked the man who was carving it (I didn't see anyone getting any!), what it was. He said it was roast beef. I was kind of shocked due to the lack of roast beef color variations, lack of fat, etc, so I asked if there was any rare pieces (maybe in the center??) & he just smiled & said no. Folks, it was devoid of any color (kind of gray), no blood on the cutting board & tasteless according to my husband who only ate one bite. Golden Coral has better!! The photo they use online showed mashed potatoes & there weren't any & I don't remember corn either. At this point I had already taken a plate & had put a spoonful of green beans on my plate, before realizing there was literally nothing I could or would eat (can't do fried). The counter girl said to talk to my server & was not very helpful. Luckily our server understood & only charged for my husband lousy plate of food. She was very sweet & the only good thing about our visit! It is cheap, but the food isn't really food, it's garbage they take out of some huge freezers in the back of the building & throw into fryers using God knows what kind of oil & how old it is. at first i was skeptical. no lie. it didn't look inviting but it was the only restaurant that came up on the gps. but when we got there, the parking lot was PACKED!! literally. so i was like ok.. then we get on the waiting list.. yes a waiting list for a little mom and pop restaurant on the side of the road! but boy was it worth the wait. they have a southern menu from chicken to roast with hearty sides. the food was soooo good. and the service was excellent. would definitely return. read more

We checked in at the register and were given a beeper for our wait. The line was a bit confusing since the check in and check out line could get a little confused since their was no separation. We were told it would be about 20 minutes but our beeper went off in a about 10 minutes. The meal was buffet style and we ate the dinner buffet served after 3 pm. The buffet was hot and fresh and the place was very busy and the service was quick. We were immediately served our drinks and sent to the buffet line. The buffet included salad bar, vegetables, and meats. The meats included fried chicken, carved roast beef, and ham. The desert was included but only from buffet line which was pudding. After dining at several restaurants in the Cherokee area during our stay including a few in the Harrahs complex and being very disappointed, we reluctantly gave Granny's a try. Glad we did. The employees are all very friendly, the restaurant was very clean and the food was fresh. We visited twice. Breakfast and lunch. Compared to Golden Corral (which is the gold standard for buffets in both consistent quality and quantity) Granny's comes up a bit short. However, if you are staying in the Cherokee area, it is a must visit if you want at least one good meal. As others have written, the offerings are a bit sparse but tasty. The bathrooms could use some remodeling but the seating area is clean and well maintained. If we visit Cherokee in the future we will definitely go back to Granny's. read more

Country buffet in NC. Delicious mashed potatoes! Super buttery and creamy. The ham was sweet and cooked perfectly! Fried chicken was seasoned well and tender, but was a little dry. Could be because it was on a buffet. I didn't care for the green beans but others in my party did, so that could just have been a preference. All in all a good experience.
