My husband really wanted a buffet and we had heard good things about this one (and received a coupon in the mail). This building was clearly a former Golden Corral with the identical layout. When you walk in, there is a double-sided counter to pay and order your drinks. For two adults at lunch, our cost after our 10% off coupon (but before tip) was $27. There is self-service for finding a seat, getting silverware, and of course, your food. There is waitstaff assigned to each table section to take plates and get drink refills. Many sections of food available, one with fruits and salads, one with American fare like pizza and mac and cheese, a few with Chinese staples like sweet and sour chicken, chicken and broccoli, general tso's, coconut shrimp, egg rolls, crab rangoon, rice (white and fried), udon noodles, and sautéed green beans. There is also a large section with fresh sushi. The food was cooked well. The sushi was fresh and veggies cooked perfectly. My favorite item in the whole buffet was the green bean dish (yes, seriously ;-) ). I just wish the food had been warmer. Not the buffet's fault (nor impacting my rating), but there were so many people all around us coughing as they got their food and then handling the spoons. I liked that there were disposable gloves available near the sushi section.

The food is hot, fresh and good. The Service is friendly and good. The ambience is casual with average background noise. They have made a lot of improvements to the hot bars, including more things than just Chinese food.

    Ice cream

The food was good, fresh, and hot. However, it was expensive, in my opinion. I liked that the ice cream wasn't self serve, that always tends to be gross from kids lol.

KUDOS, and thanks so much to Mr. Hong for providing supreme quality customer at Grand Buffet in Knoxville! There are many varieties of food on their buffet! The restaurant is very clean and busy with many customers! They even give discounts to seniors and military! I recommend all to come support this local business!

ROACHES!!! Stay away from here unless you want food poisoning. I saw a roach by the hot food that was prepared and one in the ice cream.

My mom said Asia Kitchen is the best Chinese in the city now. Unfortunately if that is correct, then it makes me very sad. I have eaten at "Real" Chinese restaurants before and this is not close imo. I got Szechuan Beef...this is supposed to be a very spicy dish. My order was not spicy at all...not saying it was bland, but it didn't have the "kick" I was expecting. My mom shared a whole steamed fish with her friends. They did enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I have decided to bump my rating up to four stars because of the wonton/egg drop soup. I didn't even realize this was a thing. We got one large serving and it was plenty for the table. Finally the reason i didn't give 5 stars was because of the table service. The others brought wine , but i ordered a Diet Coke when we were seated. Unfortunately it never arrived...our server acknowledged my order, but I guess she forgot during the dinner rush. I did have water so I didn't complain. Overall dinner was ok...it was very nice that we were allowed to take our time.

We ordered a LOT so we could sample things- it was about $74 and around $84 after tax's and fees. Ordered was (also note combos include egg roll and either a type of rice Pelli mein): -Beef and broccoli combo white rice -Chicken lomein combo chicken fried rice -Egg drop soup -Extra egg rolls -Pork egg foo young -And moo goo with no mushrooms The eggs rolls are AMAZING! Would totally eat 10. Egg foo young was good and the sauce was interesting. It didn't taste like traditional brown sauce and had more of an almost sweet flavor but very slight, and the color was like chicken gravy and not even brown. Lo mein was good and had decent flavor, but border line bland. The white rice was nice and fluffy and not hard. As for the chicken fried rice it was very bland and very dry-super disappointed in that. Beef and broccoli combo with white rice was good and had good flavor. Food portions are small. The combination platters are not shareable so just a heads up. I would say overall the food flavor was decent but my normal Chinese place, there is a lot more flavor so I don't think we will be back as it wasn't quite worth the almost 40 minute drive to and then 50+ back home with traffic. But if you're close and want some decent inexpensive Chinese food-this is your spot to try! Oh and note if you're doing take out- you have to order and pay $1 for sauces. We got no sauces with our egg rolls and I noticed after you have to purchase them in packs. UPDATE: I have never in my life experienced such bad bloating! My brother and I both got sick after eating! We both look 8 months pregnant and have never experienced anything like it! Changed my rating to 2 stars!

We also had the drunken noodles and the spicy chicken steamed buns. I will say that the portions feel small for the apps and buns. Entrées are filling. There are several nearby lots also pay-to-park but some may be free on weekends. Kaizen appears to me to be more akin to an Izakaya than a noodle hosue, where you basically go for drinks and they supply some food to keep things going - it has a more expansive menu than an Izakaya (which tends to be yakitori and sushi) - Kaizen's menu features several noodle dishes which all looked very interesting. We started with the appetizers and ordered some mixed steamed buns and soup. All of the buns that I tried I liked quite a bit - some strong, distinctive flavors. For an entree I ordered the Koji-Cured Ribeye medium-rare - 12 oz sliced ribeye, gai lan, broad bean paste, steamed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptional - the next night we tried Fin-Two Japanese Ale House across the street - this restaurant was my preference - the flavors seemed more authentic and the quality of the dishes better in my opinion.
