Walk up counter

Starved, broke, and don't really care what sort of chinese food you're shoving into your gullet? Wok it out. Now Wok it out. Wok, Wok, Wok, it out. Seriously. Full of large cut vegetables and some sort of questionable sauce. Hassled by some guy while paying for my food, to buy HIM a soda. WHaT?!?! Get out. No. Noooo... If my review seems questionable, it's because this place is. Just. It's food. You can eat it. IT resembles Chinese American. The folks who run it are most definitely reminding me of every terrible little chinese food place in big cities. But it's our ONLY questionable Chinese food place on this side. It elevates it. Can we have two so we can at least say who we like better on this side of town? Maybe?

Szechuan shrimp dinner special

Take out Chinese in Knoxville, TN. Pretty much an oxymoron in my book but this place is LEGIT. It is a family run business, affordable and the food is plentiful. I order the Szechuan Shrimp dinner special. This dish is a mixture of fried shrimp w lots of veggies (mushroom, broccoli, baby corn, onion and bell pepper) in a Szechuan sauce. It is accompanied by pork fried rice and an egg roll for under $8.

Good traditional American Chinese food. Of course as most good unhealthy food it is in the 'ghetto' on Magnolia. This simply means you might want to lock your doors when you get your carryout or have a good denial rap ready for the homeless beggars that might solicit you when you stop by. Prices on the board have nothing to do with what they charnged me..

This is the Dragon & Phoenix meal. It has a spicy and sweet taste to it. It may take 2 or 3 tries to demolish this dish!

Expect a 20-30 minute wait even if you call in your order ahead of time. But the wait is worth it, great orange chicken and lo neon.

I went out to dinner with my mom and some family friends this past Wed. There used to be a really…read moregood Chinese restaurant in Knoxville...honestly i don't remember its name or location but it doesn't exist anymore. My mom said Asia Kitchen is the best Chinese in the city now. Unfortunately if that is correct, then it makes me very sad. I have eaten at "Real" Chinese restaurants before and this is not close imo. I got Szechuan Beef...this is supposed to be a very spicy dish. My order was not spicy at all...not saying it was bland, but it didn't have the "kick" I was expecting. My mom shared a whole steamed fish with her friends. They did enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I have decided to bump my rating up to four stars because of the wonton/egg drop soup. I didn't even realize this was a thing. We got one large serving and it was plenty for the table. Finally the reason i didn't give 5 stars was because of the table service. The others brought wine , but i ordered a Diet Coke when we were seated. Unfortunately it never arrived...our server acknowledged my order, but I guess she forgot during the dinner rush. I did have water so I didn't complain. Overall dinner was ok...it was very nice that we were allowed to take our time.

A robust menu with a lot to choose from. All of the standards plus more traditional dishes…read more Food was great and service was personable. We will return next time in the area.

We ordered a LOT so we could sample things- it was about $74 and around $84 after tax's and fees. Ordered was (also note combos include egg roll and either a type of rice Pelli mein): -Beef and broccoli combo white rice -Chicken lomein combo chicken fried rice -Egg drop soup -Extra egg rolls -Pork egg foo young -And moo goo with no mushrooms The eggs rolls are AMAZING! Would totally eat 10. Egg foo young was good and the sauce was interesting. It didn't taste like traditional brown sauce and had more of an almost sweet flavor but very slight, and the color was like chicken gravy and not even brown. Lo mein was good and had decent flavor, but border line bland. The white rice was nice and fluffy and not hard. As for the chicken fried rice it was very bland and very dry-super disappointed in that. Beef and broccoli combo with white rice was good and had good flavor. Food portions are small. The combination platters are not shareable so just a heads up. I would say overall the food flavor was decent but my normal Chinese place, there is a lot more flavor so I don't think we will be back as it wasn't quite worth the almost 40 minute drive to and then 50+ back home with traffic. But if you're close and want some decent inexpensive Chinese food-this is your spot to try! Oh and note if you're doing take out- you have to order and pay $1 for sauces. We got no sauces with our egg rolls and I noticed after you have to purchase them in packs. UPDATE: I have never in my life experienced such bad bloating! My brother and I both got sick after eating! We both look 8 months pregnant and have never experienced anything like it! Changed my rating to 2 stars!

We also had the drunken noodles and the spicy chicken steamed buns. I will say that the portions feel small for the apps and buns. Entrées are filling. There are several nearby lots also pay-to-park but some may be free on weekends. Kaizen appears to me to be more akin to an Izakaya than a noodle hosue, where you basically go for drinks and they supply some food to keep things going - it has a more expansive menu than an Izakaya (which tends to be yakitori and sushi) - Kaizen's menu features several noodle dishes which all looked very interesting. We started with the appetizers and ordered some mixed steamed buns and soup. All of the buns that I tried I liked quite a bit - some strong, distinctive flavors. For an entree I ordered the Koji-Cured Ribeye medium-rare - 12 oz sliced ribeye, gai lan, broad bean paste, steamed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptional - the next night we tried Fin-Two Japanese Ale House across the street - this restaurant was my preference - the flavors seemed more authentic and the quality of the dishes better in my opinion.
