We called for take out... my aunt raves on this place, but won't go back because this was the last place her and her 90 yr old boyfriend ate before he passed very sweet they loved this place, so we're here for a spell and ordered her sweet sour chicken and in Mongolian beef. Whomever was taking the order was friendly and attentive to our order. We ordered delicious spring rolls and crab Rangoon. Crab Rangoon was light on the filling and seasoning in our opinion, but still tasty! We will be back to dine in soon without my aunt even though she says she misses the owners, and raves how sweet they always were to her and my uncle till he passed and then to the new boyfriend! she's 86 and out again looking for another companion/boyfriend. Best Chinese restaurant in the area that I've found. I'm pretty picky about Chinese cuisine. Husband and I dined in, we had pork gyoza, chicken on a stick, pork lo mein, chicken fried rice, sesame and orange chicken. They absolutely nailed the sesame chicken and orange chicken. Crunchy breading, sauce was amazing. The pork lo mein was also amazing. I ate every bite. The fried rice was pretty bland and the chicken on a stick was okay.. I wouldn't order again but it wasn't bad. The gyoza were very good! The pricing was fair for the amount of food we ordered. The server was very direct and to the point, easy enough to understand. I wouldn't say service was above and beyond, but she was nice and took care of us. A younger man helped us when we paid our bill and he was very nice and engaged in some conversation with us. There was light music playing in the background, what you would expect for an Asian restaurant. Plenty of seating, and the tables and seats were clean. Overall, I give this place 5/5. Once again, I stupidly failed to check our order before leaving with our take-out last night. Once at home, we realized that our Szechuan chicken came with NO rice! This isn't the first time we've had items missing from our order. Also, as last time the "spicy" Szechuan was not spicy at all, this time we asked that it be "medium", thinking it would be a bit spicy. No. Not spicy at all. The item was good, but disappointing. We've had better results with one of those frozen Birdseye dinners! Now I wasn't going to make the 10+ mile round trip to get the missing rice, but fortunately, we always have "Minute Rice" in the pantry and kept the dinner warm while we made our own rice. This place is small, intimate, and a great place to come in you are in the mood for Chinese. The staff is always friendly and always come to check on you, to refill your drink etc. I see a lot of people saying that the staff is kind of standoffish, I have personally never experienced this. The food is always fresh and hot. The soups are some of the best soups that you can get from a small Chinese restaurant. My favorite is the Hot and Sour, it is really good, great flavor and always fresh. They have a pretty large menu, as most places like this do, however, what sets them apart is a "Diet" menu. If you are watching your health, they offer steamed Shrimp, Beef, Chicken or Veggies (For any Vegetarians or Vegans) They also offer steamed white or brown rice to go with these dishes. The Shrimp are big and have a good flavor, always fresh, and tender. The rice is always cooked to perfection and the veggies are very fresh and crisp. Nasty waitresses...two times I was there, the dishes were literally thrown on the table, water wasn't refilled. Seems the waitress is resentful you showed up. Food from two years ago has gone downhill. Waitress antics have gotten worse. At times, her kids are sitting in the booth near the cashier's desk, apparently all day unless she gets them to work in the kitchen. All around, not a restaurant I would go to EVER AGAIN. This is a local restaurant that is just a few blocks from my home and of course on an evening that it was pouring down rain we decided to give them a try. So far we have had several dishes from them and the one thing I appreciate is that it never takes more than 10 minutes to have an order made fresh when you do a call in and anytime we've gone into the restaurant after we've never waited more than 5 to 8 minutes for a meal to be served. The service was fast and while no one of very talkative I can't say anyone is unfriendly. I highly recommend the house special "Happy Dish", the Egg Fu Young is huge, Mu Sho Chicken and duck sauce is yummy and any one of the appetizers. Their prices are very fair and affordable, portion sizes are generous and the soups are huge especially when you order Togo. I only have one complaint or suggestion and that is any time I've gone in and it seems they mop near the front door it always smells like musty old mop water. That's really my only request is to freshen that up. A little clean water and Clorox would do the trick. read more

Worst restaurant ever. They have one of rudest waitresses ever and the food was not even worth the money we paid to eat there!!! My husband, son and I got to the restaurant and the waitress didn't even geet us, she just told us to sit at the table she picked and walked away. We sat down and politely waited. When she came back, she threw the utensils on the table and left again. She was rude about our drinks too. Instead of asking us if we were ready to order drinks, she said "What drinks do you want?" We were polite and all. We ordered our drinks and she rolled her eyes and walked away before we even got to say a word to her. Anyone who knows me knows I always say hi so this kinda irritated me. I swear I wanted to walk out with how rudely she was talking to us but the hubby said it was fine. She didn't even give us the right drinks. We ordered our appetizer and she went back to the kitchen to give our appetizer to the cook. When she came back, she took our orders, but didn't say anything after. She just left. Which was fine This waitress took 25 minutes to return to our table. She kept going to the back and kept talking to the ppl in the kitchen in a different language and looking at us. All the while we were having a conversation as a family. When she finally came back to take our order, she was cranky and a little irritated that we were not ordering fast enough for her taste. We felt like we ordered in a rush so we wouldn't irritate her any further. Our food came 10 mins later. The onions in my food were cut too thick and were still raw so I had to pick them out. We weren't even halfway through our meal when she brought the bill and to-go boxes. As she gathered our plates, she was pissed off about me picking out my onions, saying that next time I come, I should order my food without onions so they won't waste their inventory. Um...I'm paying for the food I am eating so I can eat it anyway I please. After saying that to us, she just left for the back. Another waiter had to cash us out. We stopped her after a Sunday Funday for dinner. It looked dead and based on reviews we almost didn't go. They have dine-in and take out, my suggestion, do take out. It was nice inside, but empty. As we sat the waitress seemed very impatient and wasn't friendly at all. The outside of the menu was nice, but then you open it and it's just a fast food Chinese menu. The prices are reasonable and they offer a few different things including Hibachi. We decided what to get and waited for our meals. Mine came with a salad and my boyfriend got an egg roll with his. The waitress brought then out a few mins after ordering kind of throwing them on the table and rushed away again. The salad was small, but the dressing was good, tasted like a mayo based dressing with ginger in it. The egg roll they brought with a big bottle of duck sauce (which based on pics here I have seen, should have been in a small bowl). A few mins later our dinners were brought. The servings were not huge, however they are filling and the ingredients used are fresh, which is hard to find nowadays. I had ordered the Hibachi combo with chicken and beef with the fried rice. My son had the Orange Chicken, my boyfriend had the General Taos chicken, and my mom had the Triple Delight ( 3 Jumbo shrimp, chicken, and beef). The flavors of everything were really good and everything was cooked perfectly. Only wish they gave more, lol. Overall service could have been better, but the food made up for it. 1 star because I had to. I took my 3 Grandkids there after the park yesterday. The time was 2:50 they stop serving lunch at 3, so I was looking at the menu the waitress came over and yelled at me said "it is no lunch time", I said ok no problem. We ordered at 3 didnt get any food or drink refills until 3:45 . I could understand if they were busy however there was only one other table of people!! Raman Noodles have more flavor. I've never had a miso soup that tasted like dish water until I got takeout from Chef Ben. I've been super considerate about reviewing restaurants during Covid, but between the rude service and the mediocre food, I can't help but wonder why so many people rate this positively. I ordered take out about a half hour before closing, there was no one in the restaurant so my wait time was very short. The restaurant was much smaller then it looks from the outside. Okay, I'm not a connoisseur of fine Chinese dining. I don't know squat about authentic tastes. That said, I have eaten a great amount of "American Chinese food". Not buffets, but small restaurants run by a cool tight knit group of asians (not always Chinese, but usually). There's always staples on all the menu (lo mein, chow fun, walnuts+anything), plus your "white people safe foods" like general tso's, orange chicken, etc. I just moved here, and back where I lived before, there was a place that served a clandestine dish I have known simply as "shrimp toast". In essence, it is a piece of toast, with ground shrimp and veggie mixture on top, coated, and fried. Maybe that doesn't sound good to you, and that's okay. You're a wienie, but the world still needs wienies. This place, to my knowledge, is the only Chinese establishment that serves this dish in the greater Knoxville area. Desperate and home sick, I found them and prayed it would be like home. But boy, was I wrong.. Somehow they have managed to improve this fine delicacy to a true art. Greasy, bready, and seafoody all at once, they serve it with a sauce I had yet to use with shrimp toast. The combination was divine. I knew I could live on in this city as long as Chef Ben was around. *Please try the shrimp toast.* I've also had a few other things here: -General Tso's (Got on a whim wanting some more protein) And it was also... beyond any version I had ever had before. Perfect sauce and the chicken fry was so crunchy and fresh. If I had a hang over and reheated this, I would start the day on the best foot. -Hot & Sour soup (My standby when I have allergies and can't get uncongested) When you order through their website, you can select how hot you want it. I will tell you unequivocally, do not get it less than the hottest you can get. The medium did nothing for me. The hot was some of the best. My only disappointment is lack of meat, but I will accept it. -Egg rolls (why not, right?) I would give these a pass. It's like 5% roll and 90% cabbage. The last 5%? Heartbreak. -Rangoon (delicious fried cheese) These are good, but do not order it if you plan to eat alone. The set comes with 8, and I can never even make a dent in it. They're really rich and good, hard to mess up. My next dish aim is the Singapore mei fun. It is also a favorite of mine, and I'm feeling pretty safe here. I always order online through their site (I don't like strangers!!) and it has been painless. I usually leave immediately after placing my order and when I arrive it is ready. (I live about 20 minutes away.) Everything is ready, I pay my ticket, and I am on my way. I can't speak for the service of the wait ladies, I've never dined in, although the first time I went the girl seemed a bit gruff. The second time I went, the lady at the counter was happy to go through all the pleasantries of "hello, thank you, have a nice day" etc. What more do you need with pick up? Strangely, she crossed out the tip line and did not apply one. The first lady did. Mysterious... Give their to-go a shot if nothing else, it's CHEAP, it's GOOD, and it's comforting for anyone who knows this kind of Chinese food that I do. I have been hearing a lot of good things about this place So I finally tried it. I had Szechuan shrimp and hot and sour soup. It was probably the best Chinese food I have ever had. But hot and sour soup was really good but not as good as Plum tree or Szechuan Garden, but it was up there. The delicious food made it worthwhile. A lot of Chinese food is high in sodium, but this was not. It was perfectly flavored without the sodium and probably the MSG because it did not bother me. I definitely will be eating here again. Husband and I got the hibachi lunch and it came with soup OR salad and if you chose soup it was a choice between a couple different ones but she never asked after we told her what meal we wanted . I got an order for carry-out--a large Miso Soup on a cold night, and some stirred fried vegetables with brown sauce. The food was well prepared, well-packaged and quick-maybe 10-12 minutes. It came with an egg roll and steamed rice. The space is small, 8-10 tables. They were not busy but I was there for the last hour of opening. The person taking the order is Asian but, like others have mentioned, she is not very finessed in customer service. She wanted to rush me as I looked at the menu. I told her 3 times over about 45 seconds that I wasn't yet ready to order. She isn't rude, just impatient, maybe. The Miso was a great and was an unexpected find! The vegetables were a healthy blend of about 10-12 items in brown sauce as I had requested. The steamed rice was excellent and easily eaten with chop sticks. The egg roll had tiny shrimp and anything, in my thinking, that is deep fried is great! I returned to this place the next night and grabbed a large Wonton Soup for that cold night! Also delicious! The value is there...it was quite reasonable, especially for lunch, even for some of the entrees you would expect to be more expensive (I had hibachi scallops). The food was pretty good, but nothing spectacular...the fried rice didn't look/taste very fried, & the shrimp sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. The scallops were better than I was expecting for the price...there were only 3, but they were large sea scallops, not the tiny bay scallops I was expecting. I went back to chef Ben a few days ago and again was very impressed with the food and the service. I don't understand how there could be negative reviews on this restaurant, they have to be one of the best if not the best Chinese restaurants in Knoxville. I have only ever been there with a party of 4 or less, so I can't comment on the service for a large table, they may just have a small kitchen. However, I will always go back here when I want amazing Chinese food promptly and in large quantities. read more
