I was completely blown away by the outstanding service and quality of food today. We sat outside and had a clear view, they have a fantastic patio. First, mountain towns can be pricey but not at Bob's! 2 meals and sodas with a GF Bun for under $50 with tip. They have so many choices that I was able to easily find something gluten free. I went with a burger and a gf bun. The server, Emmanuel was so impressive. Not only did he touch every table, clean up as he was going, but got our orders right with no issue. Having food allergies, I tend to have something happen when a server is busy but no, not today. He was also very knowledgeable about the fryer so I opted for coleslaw. The portions are healthy and I had leftovers with the size of my entree. The entire staff is friendly and they definitely don't miss a beat. I am looking forward to coming back soon. I had a very disappointing night the other day at Bobs Place. We went on a busy night and sat on the restaurant side. The host was super sweet but forgot to tell the waitress that we were seated in the back. I was still confused as to how she never noticed us sitting there as she was helping the table next to us. I eventually had to go back to the host stand and ask if he could get the waitress to serve us as we had been waiting 30+ minutes without even being served water. Oh and side note, while waiting to be served we found a mostly drank Bloody Mary (I think) hidden behind the condiments on the table. Like ew. After the waitress finally came over and apologized she took our order. The kind host actually brought us free chips and guacamole which was super yummy and we really appreciated it. Then we got our mozzarella sticks which were good. My boyfriend ordered a French dip which he liked and I ordered the green chile mac and cheese with blackened chicken. I actually really like my entree, but all in all we were there for around 2 hours by the time we got everything and ate. We stopped here the first night of our vacation in Avon. We checked in and they gave Mom her beer free. I had the shrimp fajitas which were awesome. It came with rice and beans that they let me swap out for a cup of the tortilla soup. Way too much for me. It could easily be split. Plus we ordered the dip trio for an appetizer. Guacamole and Queso were great, the salsa was spicy but good too. Hubby had the burger which he ordered medium but came well done so was drier than he wanted but had a great flavor. He absolutely loved the tater tots. Christopher had the schezuan boneless wings and tots. He ate every bite. He still talks about how good they were. Mom had the a chicken sandwich with fries. We love the city of Avon where everything is just a short walk away. Over the years we've shared a lot of great times with our family at Bob's Place. Away for six years now, we returned May 2025 to Avon and found that Bob's Place, a sports bar, is the same wonderful place- reliable and such a good value. Normally I only bother to write up restaurant reviews if they are either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. Bob's Place is a solid 3 but worth writing about anyway. It seems like a restaurant that can't decide whether it is a night club, a sports bar, or a burger joint. The burgers are good but not great. There are several pool tables and fuseball tables which are in constant use, there are televisions all around and loud music playing all the time and a lot of the patrons seem like they are there for a night club kind of environment. The best aspect o can recommend about this place is that it stays open really late. They still serve burgers and bar food until midnight. I ordered the Asher's Scramble (3 eggs scrambled with swiss cheese and topped with fresh sliced avocado and served with potatoes and toast). It was good and provided a perfectly sufficient breakfast for the price and in this area. For a place that seems very much a sports bar, it still delivered on a fairly enjoyable breakfast. I also enjoyed that their entryway was filled with photos of guys named Bob who happen to have eaten there. I really liked that Bob Vila once ate at Bob's Place. You know it's a good day when you get to me THE Bob of Bob's Place. This really is a family operation for the people of Avon. My husband had planned on dining elsewhere nearby, but the spot he had picked seems perpetually closed. Bob's was right nearby and once I saw the outdoor patio, plus smelled the food cooking, it was over. This is where we were having lunch. First off, enjoy the spacious outdoor seating. Plenty of room in-between tables and sanitizer to keep things clean/safe. Second, take advantage of their Yelp check-in offer for a free glass of house wine or beer with purchase of an entree. Third, get a burger. Bonus if you have the opportunity to talk to Bob and his son, Chris. They're so very friendly. Bob's family used to live primarily in Denver and go back and forth into the mountains, but now they're 100% Avon area folks. If you're staying at the Westin and are tired of Maya every night, or the lobby bar bartenders who ignore you, take a five minute walk over here and solve those problems while also saving a bunch of money. In addition to the great drinks and drink prices, the food is good, and staff 100% friendly and attentive. I enjoy the burgers, they may not be exactly what you'd get from your favorite burger joint back home, but not bad, and a wide variety of options. I'm a bit biased on burgers because my local places are hole in the walls that just do burgers incredible (Engine No. 9 St Pete and Willy's Burgers & Booze St Pete Beach for reference). Fries and taters are crispy. Chicken stir fry was surprisingly good considering I was in Colorado in no way expecting a great stir fry; lots of chicken, lots of flavor, so kudos to Bob's Place. read more
