Winter in the Hamptons can feel quiet, but Bobby Van's delivers the kind of dinner that reminds you why this place is special year-round. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was attentive without being rushed, and the food was absolutely on point. From the moment we sat down, everything felt smooth, relaxed, and well-executed. Dinner was great -- perfectly prepared, generous portions, and exactly what you want on a cold night out here. It's the kind of dependable, elevated experience that makes Bobby Van's a standout when so many other places close for the season. Highly recommend if you're in the Hamptons this winter and want a great meal with consistent, top-tier service.

After shopping with mom in town, we wanted to grab a quick lunch before heading back home about a 1.5 hour drive. It was a beautiful warm afternoon and we had lunch outside the restaurant. Such a cute spot. Mom had a glass of red wine and I had unsweetened ice tea. Both excellent. Our lunches were excellent and lots of food! We even had leftovers. The server was great and very attentive and friendly. We will be back soon.

Another great meal ... lunch ... in the Hamptons. Seated promptly (reservation was helpful). Crowded inside, but comfortable. Server was excellent; all staff were friendly and efficient. The food? Delicious. Clams on the half-shell a nice start. But, the linguine with mussels and clams ... wow! Fantastic dish. Loaded with fresh tasying mussels, whole clams, and chopped clams, and the pasta was tasty too. My wife and our friends enjoyed their fishes too. Really good lunch!

Good food with mediocre service. We had our drink orders screwed up multiple times. They brought our main course without bringing forks after taking away our forks with the appetizers. I asked for a beer and they brought me an iced tea. After repeating my beer order, he said he remembered me ordering a beer. Then I repeated my beer order and the waiter said they didn't have that beer. How is it you can remember a customer ordering a beer and then not bring a beer... I am so perplexed. The Chili Calamari was fantastic. 5/5 The Sirloin steak was pretty good.

We had a nice dinner here on Sunday night. I had the French Dip sandwich and it was delicious. It tasted like French Onion Soup on a sandwich. The bread was crunchy. So it's definitely need the "jus". The Jus was quite tasty and not too salty. I would recommend. My friend had the Surf & Turf, which he enjoyed. The steak was cooked perfectly, as it should be since Bobby Vans is known for their steaks. My girlfriend had the Chicken Milanese. She said it was just OK. The breast needed to be pounded a little thinner. It looked like a big thick chicken breast. Not at all appetizing looking but I would probably not have ordered chicken at a steakhouse. Service was great. Overall, it was a very nice experience. I would come back. I hope the chef revisits the chicken preparation. I've had this type of chicken at any number of restaurants and La Parma probably does it best. If the manager happens to read this review, check out La Parma's version of it and bring it to BVs.

I've been to Bobby Vans in the past and was not wowed by my dining experience. This recent Friday evening dinner was much more satisfying. We started with the clams casino which was good. Not great. The shaved Brussel sprouts salad was soo tasty. I was very happy with this dish. We also ordered the fried calamari. Nothing spectacular but I did enjoy the crispyness of the calamari. The Porterhouse for 2 was cooked perfectly. Seared on the outside and slightly pink on inside & added a side order of whipped potatoes. Our waiter was very attentive and the food came out quickly although the restaurant was busy. I'd definitely visit again.

Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton: Culinary Highs and Service Lows…read moreRating: (Food: 9.5 | Service: 6) Topping Rose House remains a bit of a Bridgehampton enigma. As a spot we find ourselves returning to a couple of times a year, the kitchen continues to operate at a gold standard, even when the front-of-house seems to be stuck in a bit of a fog. The Food: A Seasonal Symphony If you are coming strictly for the palate, you will not be disappointed. The freshness of the ingredients is palpable: * Oysters: These were pristine--served icy cold and exceptionally fresh. The mignonette was the standout here; perfectly balanced and bright, it elevated the oysters rather than masking them. * Pea Soup: This was a revelation. It tasted as if the peas had been picked just yesterday; it was vibrant, "green," and utterly delightful. * Lobster Roll: While it was admittedly small in stature (especially for the price point), the execution was flawless. It was bright, crunchy, and avoided the heavy mayo-trap that many local spots fall into. The Service: A Comedy of Errors Unfortunately, the gap between the kitchen and the dining room was wide during this visit. While our waitress was personally lovely, the actual mechanics of the service were incredibly frustrated: * Timing Issues: We were offered bread at the start of the meal, yet it didn't grace the table until we were finished eating. * The Water Gap: Our sparkling water sat empty for far too long. Refills were offered, but like the bread, they arrived only after the meal had concluded. * Lack of Proactivity: There was no offer for drink refills throughout the courses. * Accountability: Most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment. Mistakes happen, but a simple "I'm so sorry for the delay" goes a long way. Instead, the lapses were never addressed or accounted for. The Verdict: Topping Rose House serves some of the most phenomenal, fresh food in the Hamptons. However, when you're paying Bridgehampton prices, you expect the service to match the caliber of the kitchen. We'll likely be back because the pea soup and oysters are hard to quit, but we'll be crossing our fingers for a more attentive experience next time. mi

I couldn't believe he was only 19 years old, very professional. I ordered the Cucumber Fizz, which I honestly hated. I don't think I've sent a cocktail back in years, but it wasn't a proper gin fizz at all. It just tasted really muddy and was missing some citrus. My girlfriend got a glass of Whispering Angel which came out very cold and she enjoyed. We ordered the 30 grams of caviar for $148. The caviar itself was very tasty and came on ice. I didn't love the crème fraîche, it was missing some onion or chive on the side (granted, that wasn't stated on the menu, so that's okay because it came how it was intended). However, I was NOT happy with the blinis. They weren't tasty, they were all different shapes and sizes, some had crusty edges, some had curled-up edges. They just didn't look like there was much care put into them, especially for the price. We also shared the lamb- ordered it medium. Two of the pieces came out well done, and one medium. Yes, the sauce was tasty, but the meat, again, for the price, was just not cooked correctly. I was starving at that point, so I told him not to worry about it and that they didn't have to make it again. Our waiter was great though, offered to send out a new one but we declined because we needed to get going. Also shared the squash blossom quesadilla which I was psyched for. I love squash blossoms, but there was just wayyyy too much cheese in it, not enough seasoning. I get that it's a quesadilla, but the cheese was overwhelming. The jalapeño sauce also didn't really go with it for my preference. Overall, this experience just did not even come close to being what we thought it would be. They did take 2 drinks off the bill to offset the well-done lamb, very nice and for sure appreciated it. But overall, I would never come back. Made sure I tipped our waiter 30% because none of the issues were with service. But blah! The ambiance is pretty both inside & outside but absolutely skip this place. Every dish was missing something. Expected more from a JG spot....

We called the restaurant to either move our reservation to another day or cancel it, and were told that only the manager could assist us. However, we were told the manager was unavailable because he was busy speaking with regulars at a table. I asked if we could simply be placed on hold until he was available so we could find a solution. We were told no. Instead, the employee said they would "leave a note" and that someone would call us back if they were able to help. Meanwhile, we were told that if the reservation was canceled, we would be charged a $135 cancellation fee -- despite the fact that we were actively trying to work with the restaurant to either reschedule or resolve the situation. The experience became even more unacceptable when the employee eventually hung up on us and then stopped answering our calls. The restaurant only answered after American Express contacted them on our behalf. To be clear, I have no issue with a restaurant having a cancellation policy. What I have an issue with is the way this situation was handled: being told the manager was "too busy" to speak with us, being refused the simple courtesy of being placed on hold, having our calls screened, and ultimately being hung up on. That is an embarrassing level of customer service for an establishment of this caliber. I genuinely hope someone in management -- above the person working the restaurant that evening -- takes this seriously and addresses this behavior. A cancellation policy is one thing; treating a customer with this level of disrespect is another.

I wish they had more of the specials listed because it was hard for us to keep them all straight. I started with the fondue for one which was tasty and fun but I would have preferred if it also came with cornichons and that the potatoes weren't fried (it was really heavy and oily with cheese and fried potatoes). Drinks were pretty weak for $26, and the bartender actually forgot to add champagne to one of our French 75s, lol. He did remedy it, though. We split the ice cream sandwich for dessert which was a little strange but tasty. All in all the food was very flavorful but at the price point I probably wouldn't come back. I guess you can get away with that in the Hamptons, even in the off season!

There is also outdoor seating available when the weather is nice. I came with a friend for an early, light dinner before seeing a movie. We only waited a few minutes before being seated near the entrance. Our server greeted us promptly and brought over menus. I ordered the Sombra Margarita ($18), made with mezcal, ginger, lime, and guava, while my friend chose the Classic Margarita ($16). The Sombra was very good, the smoky mezcal paired really well with the ginger and fruit flavors, making for a refreshing and balanced cocktail. Most of the tacos were $9 each. I ordered the Veggie Taco, which was generously filled, along with the Crispy Fish Taco. The fish had a satisfying crunch, although it was just slightly overcooked. Overall, it was a good spot for a quick, casual meal. I also noticed they were preparing quite a few takeout orders. They had a sign advertising happy hour every day from 3-6pm, $8 house margaritas, $7 select tacos, and discounted small plates.
