Awesome restaurant. Consistent and great atmosphere and vibe. Staff are friendly and considerate.

This was a wonderful place for a dinner. For starters we had the tuna over crispy rice and the rice was crispy as advertised (unlike ones we have had at Nobu), and the pork bao which was tasty and succulent. For entrees, we had the pull pork sandwich, the pork chops, the butter chicken and the mac and cheese. All of them were really good, especially the butter chicken. It is nice that the kitchen is able to pull off with much success a variety of what some might consider ethnic dishes. Service was great and we will be back. read more

Friendly ambience. Pretty crowded for a Sunday eve. Cons: Too much salt. Have eaten there several times and both times meal was very salty. Both times neither the chard nor pg were enjoyed. PROS: Great waiter who was available, but not too much! Outstanding juicy burger! Could KILL for the Mac and cheese. Husband enjoyed the pulled pork Sandwich. The food was excellent! We tried the MH burger and had pan roasted halibut with crispy Vietnamese Chicken Wings. Service was top-notch. They really checked in to see what we needed. My daughter and I walked in and stood by the hostess desk being ignored for several minutes, until finally an older male ended his conversation with another employee and turned to look at us. When we asked for a table for two, he looked shocked that we would have the nerve to expect to be seated for dinner on a Saturday night without a reservation. (It was about 8:05 pm and they close at 9.) He reluctantly walked around the restaurant and came back saying that he had found a table for us and he then walked us to the front of the restaurant where there were THREE empty tables. So I suppose that making us feel so special that he had "found a table" for us, was just part of his act? My daughter ordered the Curry, which she enjoyed, and I ordered the burger, which was tasteless, and hardly worth the $26 price tag. Our waitress was not terribly attentive and had absolutely NO personality, and even though our soda glasses had been sitting empty for a while, I had to signal to her that we would like refills. Perhaps she should have mentioned that soda refills were not free, (like every other restaurant I have been in) so we were charged $16 for our diet cokes, which were mostly glasses of ice. Our bill was brought to the table with a mumbled thanks. This restaurant may be the trendy place to go, but we won't be back. read more

Food was decent but table sucked even though we made our reservations weeks ago- sat someone else without one at a table we wanted - wouldn't go back but the waitress was kind - tipped her very well as a result - their bussers are a bit aggressive and seem to want to clear your plate 2 seconds after the plate is sat. read more

Finally an amazing restaurant in the Hamptons! We just ate there last night and had a great experience all around. The menu was very eclectic and creative but had good ol favorites too. The staff was very polite and attentive. And the ambiance was relaxed yet sophisticated. They also do take out! For a super mellow and lovely ladies weekend in the off season, our host for our friend's bachelorette weekend chose the Meeting House for the big dinner on a Saturday eve. It was fantastic from start to finish. Our server Betty was gracious, efficient, sweet and very accommodating to us nine ladies - she didn't freak out like our server had that afternoon of dealing with "us" - and I thought we were relatively easy, mellow Californian girls. A nice touch is instead of bread, they bring you pita, veggies and hummus (Meditteranean/Mid-East chef? If so, niiiice.) Everything that was shared was delicious; Greek Salad and the Gruyere macaroni and cheese. I absolutely LOVED their chopped salad with Gruyere Vinigrette dressing; one of the best chopped I've ever had. Apparently the Fluke and Salmon were divine. Our flourless chocolate cake was awesome and their orange creme brulee was quite unique. I highly recommend this spot for a celebration. You will be treated top-notch and the environment is absolutely lovely. I hope to come back to this part of the country one day - and if so - to the Meeting House it is. read more

This Contemporary American restaurant is casual, but definitely has a light, beachy chicness about it. To start off, I ordered their Spicy Margarita (chili infused tequila, agave, lime, ancho salt rim). I really liked this drink, it was refreshing, not too sweet, and had a slight hint of heat in the drink itself. Add on that kick by adding a little of the ancho salt from the rim of the glass into each sip. For my entree, I ordered one of their specials, Local Tile Fish (asparagus, smoked carrot, pea green-farro salad, garlic sauce). This was great. The fish was perfectly cooked, light, tender, with great flavor. The farro was excellent too, it had a nice savory quality with that great chew that the grain has. read more

Well, driving around Hampton last Summer we got hungry. We were told to go to this other comedy club near by - I need to kill myself because I forgot the name of the place where we heard about some celebrity sightings. Anyways, if you are to go to the Meeting House, it is just across the street and so... check it out. Anyhow, there was also a line for this place and we could not wait any longer and walked to Meeting House. Actually I was not into the comedy club and run down pub atmosphere at the time. It was quite delightful to dine at the Meeting House. there was some wait but we waited at the bar with a glass of wine recommended by the bartender ( it was one of the best sauvignon blanc that I had - it was from Nappa Valley ) which was so good and presented quite elegantly by the bartender. He looked like knows what he is doing. Also, I can see some dressed up - cute happy hour bar scence going on at the bar. Ladies were pretty dressed up. The place is clean, all white painted and also homey at the same time. The crowd seemed local but a bit preppy side. but casual. The foods were excellent and we were very impressed with the fish dish and also the saucery.. I did not expect to experience some fancy fine dining in some random walked in restaurant. Beware of the hostess in need of an attitude adjustment. A party of 6 on a Friday night, we had a 6:30 reservation made in advance. We arrived at 6, a half hour early. It's understandable if we couldn't be seated right away. But the hostess, offended that we dare arrive early, informed us we can come back at 6:30 sharp, despite a couple large empty tables outdoors. So we took a walk. Amagansett is a beautiful town, so we didn't mind walking. We took a nice stroll and went back at 6:30, sharp. We walked in the door, and the hostess, clearly upset that we had returned, led us to a 4-top round table positioned against the wall in front of the Kitchen entrance. It was a horrible table, and in no way could seat 6 people. My mother, the person taking our family out, voiced her displeasure with the table. It was a pretty shitty table. It's natural that you'd want a realistic table for six when you're about to drop a significant amount of money on a dinner for six. The hostess was dismayed! How dare you - customer who wants me to serve you - be unhappy with this shitty table that you called a reservation for! She responded to my mother, "I've fit 8 at this table before..." and let out a sigh of frustration. My mother then asked to see the manager, which prompted the hostess to stomp off back to the entrance of the restaurant without responding to her. Sheer disrespect. After an exchange with the manager, which left an unsettled feeling in everyone's stomach, we were seated at a 6-top in the bar. The manager was unfriendly and begrudgingly acommodated us. You could tell she didn't care if were upset or not. After this experience, there is nothing to complain about. The server was polite and attentive. Drinks and orders went quick and the water glasses never emptied. The kitchen has its act together, creating great starters and entrees. w shared an order of Polenta Croutons, an Arugala salad with a viniagrette, and a steamed artichoke. The polenta was incredible, perfectly crispy on each end, but still creamy in the middle. The artichoke was steamed nicely and was still toothsome. Our entrees were equally impressive. I had the Chicken Milanese, which came out crispy and delicious, and the salad on top was refreshing for the hot evening. My wife had a pork chop that she claims was the food highlight of her vacation on Long Island. The bill came to over $300. My wife and I tried to take my mother and stepfather out for dinner, as a thank you for having us out to their place in the Hamptons, but it was no use so I was not privy to the final cost of the bill. However, I know it was at least $300, and for that kind of a price tag, the 20 minutes of disrespect and inconvenience was unnecessary. My 61-year old mother didn't feel like going somewhere else at 7pm on a friday on a holiday weekend, so we stuck it out, and we were rewarded with great food. I'll never go back though, simply because of my experience with the host and manager. If this is a family business, they conduct business badly. The need to pay that chef more though. Oh, the Men's room was grimey and slippery, and the sinks were filthy. You could tell no manager has ever stepped foot in there. read more

Can't vouch for lunch or dinner, but I came here twice for breakfast while in Amagansett (or "Ammy" as the sceney kids seem to call it) and it was great both times. The wait staff was a little bit inexperienced, but that's typical of the East End resort towns because the work force tends to consist of rich 16-year-olds who want pocket money to shop at Ralph Lauren. The food was great, though, and the restaurant is big and airy so you don't feel as claustrophobic as you might otherwise. The views of the well-groomed Amagansett Square park make for a nice background, with kids and dogs running around, and the crowd is "adult" enough so that you don't get too many screaming kids. But be warned: you'll still get a few. read more

Such yumminess! I love the food, the ambiance... for lunch or dinner. The service is fantastic too. Great cocktails and a fine selection of wind and beers. My favorite dish is the scallop, if you must know... Keep in mind that this place can get VERY loud. For that, I take away a star. read more

So, so overrated. I'd heard about this place forever, and they opened another venue, Monument Lane, on our block in the city, so we decided to have a nice dinner here on a Saturday night. As imagined, it was super busy, so the wait was about an hour. It was beyond packed, so no where really to wait other than awkwardly near the host stand (with many others), as the bar was crammed full. Naturally we got stuck in some tiny table in between the other 2 tables in the section, behind the bar. This meant drunkards (especially middle aged men), bumping into you in your chair throughout the meal (luckily I was in the booth, so my boyfriend, and our neighbors, some young girls, got to experience that pleasure). One was dancing and throwing his beer around, so I think they were especially pleased. We ordered some unmemorable appetizers (crab and avocado, and the tuna - I adore tuna but this was very bland), asked for more bread (which never came, nor did drink refills), and I asked the waitress which of the two fish was better. Sadly, she recommended the halibut, which I hadn't seen (as the one that came by, the arctic char, looked great). Halibut was very mushy and just gross texture, also came with essentially no sides, unlike the char. My boyfriend got the pork chop, which he liked, but his beans weren't fully cooked, so he had to ask for another side of beans. Our waitress wasn't especially thrilled, nor in any way apologetic. We were also next to a middle aged couple who kept raving about the food and asking to kiss the chef's ass - which was annoying only as she was fairly large, kept getting up to go to the bathroom, and put her giant hands on our table next to my food to help herself stand, without apologizing or seeing any problem with doing so. Cute venue, but mediocre food and poor service - and if they seat you at the tables behind the bar, high tail it out of there ASAP. Sadly I'd been looking forward to trying Monument Lane, and now have reconsidered. read more

As a couple other reviewers have said, this restaurant loves to seat you in the worst possible place. We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant and were sat next to the one table with obnoxious noisy children. If you don't have kids and want to avoid them, definitely sit at the bar. Food was good, though. I had the spaghetti bolognese and enjoyed it. A bit spicy (the table next to us complained about that, but it's really not that bad) and flavorful. My wife had the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Didn't try cocktails but it looked like they had a few nice choices. read more

The Meeting House is good to visit but probably not a great place to stay in long. A newbie to the area this past summer, I was wondering just how preppy this spot would be. As I walked through the door on my first visit here, I heard one button-down collared shirt guy say to another, "So I was at this sex party and..." Uh huh. It has a great buzz about it, nice lighting, and a couple of big but not too intrusive tvs over the bar for sports fans. In the summer it fills to the point where you'd like for it to either embrace the bar focus and blow down the interior walls, or move those drinkers elsewhere (to a remote island?). I can't imagine eating a sit-down dinner inside amidst the din and everyone's rear end hovering by your table (or is that supposed to be appealing?). Apparently, many diners give up on conversing with each other entirely, playing on their smart phones instead (perhaps texting their dining partners). On one visit, a friend and I split two small plates--grilled shrimp over quinoa and a caprese salad. The salad included fresh-picked tomato and basil (thoughtful), but the use of green tomato slices seemed to privilege looks over flavor (I guess that fits with Hamptons style...). I once tasted the much-talked about mac and cheese, but I didn't find it all that remarkable. The best dining experience I had there was the crab and avocado small plate, paired with the bread and dips and a glass of wine. Another time, I ordered the beet salad. The plate of chopped beets with salata cheese on top was dull and had no greenery at all (not even an accent). It would have been completely bland had it not been for a scattering of pickled onions (never did I think I'd so sincerely thank a few onion slices). That night, they ran out of bread...bummer. I have heard some good comments and some not so great comments about the entrees. Whenever people talk about this place, they tend to talk about the prices for the portion sizes (often questioning the value...). The drinks are not cheap either, but much better quality for the price than some other places nearby--I'm looking at you, Talkhouse. Among the beer taps, the local Greenport Brewery is featured (and consistently great). The wine list had few local wines, despite the fact that Long Island is home to many! For a restaurant that seems to project a local foods image, this was incongruous. The North Fork riesling on the menu was very good. I hope they would feature more such wines in the future. The waitstaff, though often overwhelmed in the summer peak, was pretty friendly (and are quite good at karaoke at a nearby spot!). I don't envy the servers who have to wade through the throng to bring plates to the indoor tables (think Frogger...where the frog has to carry hot food on breakable vessels). The bathroom line can get long, and prying open the heavy ladies room door often requires a team effort. So if you go, grab a slice down the road before/after a drink here and be prepared to have to fight for space as you rub elbows (and every other body part) with Hamptonites. The two stars may feel harsh, but I'm sure it will have a huge crowd no matter what I score it. read more

Stopped in for a dinner on a Saturday during a Holiday weekend. This place was packed to the gills with teeming young Hamptonites back for the beginning of Summer. I liked the vibe regardless of the noise level and obvious overcrowding. The challenge was that the wait for a table of two was unreasonably long; about two hours. We left our name and decided to go across the street and chance dinner elsewhere. The other restuarant were empty and didn't have any of the energy that the Meeting House did. We got a drink at another bar and then went back to Meeting House to check if a table was open yet (this was, at most, 25 minutes later). Luckily, we were able to be seated right away -- IN THE KITCHEN. Our table was literaly 10 feet away from the expediter and where the waiters pick up the orders. I had said to Nicole that this was either the best seat in the house or the worst seat in the house. For the meal, we decided to get a bunch of small plates instead of an entree because everything looked appetizing. We ordered: An arugala summer salad with Goat Cheese, toasted Hazelnuts and fresh Strawberries in a balsamic vinegarette type dressing which was the perfect starter Polenta "Croutons" with shaved parmesian cheese and sauteed mushroom (pan fried polenta squares) Whole, head-on shrimp, served atop a moroccan style couscous Buttered Lobster tail with a Risotto pancake Each dish was better than the next. We ordered a bottle of reasonably priced (for the Hamptons) Chardonnay that paired decently. The experience of eating at whast was essentially a chef's table at a place like this and actually being able to have a conversation with my wife rather than yelling at her across the table was one that I hope to have again. This place is my "go-to" spot from now on when I'm out in Amagansett or bringing friends out east. read more

Great meal. I had a crab and avocado appetizer that had a beautiful quality crab meat. The sauce on it was fantastic. My husband had a baked goat cheese in a spicy red sauce that was one of the best things we had in a long time. The main course was sirloin steak au pouivre that with a great sauce that melted in your mouth. The jerk pork over spicy rice and black beans was excellent. Solid restaurant in Amagansett! My friends and I came here for dinner before heading to Stephen Talkhouse across the street. We were seated outdoors in the nice back area. The wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered fresh watermelon juice which was delicious and refreshing on a hot summer night. The warm bread and butter they started us with was perfect to start the meal (I was also starving at this point!). I ordered the whole fish (branzino) which was amazing! The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The picked vegetables that came with the fish paired nicely flavor-wise with it. Will definitely return here! read more

Went here late on a friday night for dinner. No reservations for parties of 2. so we basically waited 2 hrs. Hung out at the extremely crowded bar. Service slow, bartender was slow, didn't look up from whatever he was doing for like 15 min. annoying. The hostess couldnt find us and we missed our table. Not sure how that was possible we were right at the corner of the bar near her. Got a great table though we were lucky. all the way in the back away from the huge crowd at the bar..which was nuts now at 1030pm. Crowd was wack, alot of ralph lauren looking dudes, one guy with a black card. With a douchy personality to match. Prob his dads. The food: Bread and dips were awesome. Hummus.. yummy Mussels good I had Chicken Milanase, good came with a huge mixed salad over it good! Overall nice place. get there early!!!! Cute location as well. Quiet town. read more

Every dish was really solid and the service was nice. 1. Seared scallops - really moist and crunchy on the outside 1. Green beans with pancetta - pancetta really made the dish! 2. Whole fish (branzino) - good but not amazing My friends had the baby back ribs, the half chicken, the pork chop and the salmon too. No one had any complaints and it all looked really good! Yes, it's a great atmosphere. Yes, you'll likely run into someone you know - it is quite the social stop for the East Hampton and Amagansett social sets. However, I believe it's best to stop in for a drink or two and then move on if you are actually looking for good food. Their burgers and macaroni and cheese dishes are OK, but I have a difficult time finding anything else on the menu I even find interesting. And, when my entree arrives, I've never been bowled over. We've visited over the last few years, and at various times throughout the year, and feel confident in this review. A great place for a drink and perhaps an appetizer, but not for 'food'. read more

pretty good food. Unfortunately we sat in the kitchen area and could hear the chef talk down to his staff and curse to his runners about switching sides for entrees. Being someone who is in the restaurant industry if you have an open kitchen I find it appropriate to stay professional towards your employees. No need to talk about how many beers you need to get through a shift or how f#^^%} mad you are at them. Your guests can hear. Hospitality is everything. Wait til after the shift. Beware family diners. Although they claim they are a child friendly restaurant they are not. Diners with children are segregated to the back patio, outside of the restaurant and in the back corner. This occurs with multiple tables available inside the restaurant. The tables that were full outside all had children. The food was bland and service blah. Simple but delicious fare in a pleasant atmosphere. We went for dinner prior to heading across the street to the Talk House for a show. The service was excellent as was our food. The salads were fresh. They had oysters form nova scotia which were wonderful. The large plates were a tasty striped bass one of the best hamburgers and fries ever and mussels in a curry sauce that were the best dish on the table. read more

Surly uninformed hostesses and wait staff. Food arrived cold, with my order of rare blamed for the poor temperature. Asked about six times to remove one plate while other in the party still eating. Finally, prices are a complete ripoff. $17 for a single drink of gin, no added mixers while special mixed cocktails priced at $15. None of my issues were greeted with just a small "sorry". Tables were plentiful which suggests that even in "The Hamptons" where Manhattanites like me are used to being ripped off this place is not long for the world. Good Riddance. read more

Stayed at The Reform Inn and thought we'd try their sister restaurant - Meeting House. My wife had the salmon and I had ribs. The ribs were off the bone, tender and tasty. I've had blow-your-mind ribs and this wasn't quite that...but very VERY good nonetheless. I'm not much of a salmon person but my wife, a HUGE foodie, enjoyed it along with her sides. It was a casual atmosphere and the staff was awesome. I would definitely go back on my next visit. I'd give it a 4 1/2 stars if I could. read more

Thrilled to say that my prior complaints are largely obsolete. The artichoke is back (!), the spag bol is once again perfection and the foie gras burger has been deemphasized. Like many other reviewers of this restaurant, I believe it is fair to say the staff certainly have an attitude, and a bad one at that . I ordered the pork chop, and the menu described it as being served au jus, which sounded great. It came with a thin brown sauce that had an intense smoky flavor. With nothing else "smoked" on the menu, it was clear that this smoke came out of a bottle. What a shame to spoil a nice piece of meat with cheesy artificial flavoring. Of greater concern to the dining patron, was that they gave no indication of the fake smokey taste on the menu, and the waiter was simply arrogant in his response. One member of our party indicated he would rather not have with sweet potatoes, and asked if there was a regular potato that could be substituted. The same arrogant waiter said they had no regular potatoes on the menu. Naturally, several people at the tables around us were served dinners that included french fried potatoes. If you're going to eat at The Meeting House, keep your expectations low in spite of the $$$ cost; we found the three and a half star rating is still a little high. read more

My husband and I have tried almost everything on the menu, and we have never been disappointed. There are also always great specials, and the staff is very attentive. The menu items are creative and food is always of the highest quality. They also have an extensive Prix Fixe menu during the week. BUT, just like any other popular place in a vacation town, you probably want to avoid it during the high season. I guarantee that you will have a wonderful dining experience if you remember NOT to go on any Friday or Saturday night in the summer. read more

We came here because our friends who own a home nearby said it was their favorite place. When I first looked at the menu I was a little discouraged because nothing really looked amazing. There was a decent selection, but I wasn't so into the flavor profiles. The special of the day, however, was GREAT. I had the baked goat cheese appetizer which was good, but nothing to write home about. For my entree, I had the gnocchi with broccoli and mushrooms (hold the ham) and it was mouthwatering. My husband loved his Spaghetti Bolognese and our friends had the Chicken Milanese (really tasty) and Exile Chicken Soup (a little spice above standard chicken and vegetable soup). Came off season (mid January) and enjoyed a wonderful meal! We sampled the Kale salad as an appetizer as well as the mixed fried seafood- fresh and delish and aoli was da bomb. I was pretty full for my turkey burger and couldn't quite taste the cranberry sauce claimed to be on it - next time I'd ask for extra. We tried truffle plain and sweet potato fries. Good times were had. The bill was large but like what else is new for a place like amagansett. read more

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. EVER. Started with the appetizer special, which was goat cheese stuffed figs with prosciutto and arugula, which was out of this world. Then we shared the special prosciutto pizza and the scallops with cauliflower cous cous risotto. We finished with the blueberry cheesecake and raspberry chocolate cake.
