Your normal average cafe in the heart of the Hamptons. This is one of the last reasonable spots out in the hamptons. They have limited space and make the most of it. This translates to very little leg room. The food is good when it comes hot. The Healthy omelette is a good choice here. The service here is good. They take care of you here. I came in with my service animal and this woman was an absolute wretch of a person and wouldn't allow us to be seated. She kept demanding an ID card, which I tried to educate her that service animals are not required to have an ID under the ADA and told her what she could ask and she still refused us seating. Smaller diner esque "greek restaurant" that offers some classic diner staples such as pancakes and eggs. Came here on a Thursday and the place was really packed, service was friendly but super slow for coming to a place with a handful of tables at 1pm. Ordered the avocado toast with eggs and it was worse than the avocado toast I prepare at home for around $18 dollars. Toast is literally on whole wheat wonder bread, avocado was hacked and not completely ripe, eggs were wet which made the toast soggy. Underdressed side "salad" which was just arugula and tomatoes. I ordered here today for lunch and ordered the buffalo wings with celery, they forgot to add the celery sticks to my delivery and when I called the lady who answered started laughing. Then I said well I paid $20 for my order ; tax /delivery/tip and she then says not her problem. Very rude indeed. Just had the worst expirience at this restaurant the service was horrible and very unprofessional at the least! I ordered a dish which had ingredients that I could not consume because of my vegan diet that were not listed on the menu and when this brought to the attention of the server who was pretty much taking orders from every table in the restaurant her response and the response of the women behind the bar was that "they are not a vegan restaurant and we don't serve vegan food here " although I did not take one bite of the food they still made us pay for it. read more

I've been coming to John Papa's for a long time and the food is good. It is a bit on the pricey side but it's where we live. I really like the new owner as before he bought it he was a chef/waiter. A really nice guy and he always welcomes me when I come in if he is working. All of the waitstaff are nice and helpful. It's a staple in East Hampton for the local spot and for the summer people that come to visit. The seating area is ok. I like to get a booth. John Papas Cafe is your traditional coffee shop of old, (which I find refreshing), with an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, and best of all, great coffee always served hot. I am a regular for breakfast, but recently decided to try their dinner menu and nightly specials. I knew my dinner would be good, but I was surprised at how delicious my broiled sole was, as well as my friends scaloppine dish, terrific! Both were served with soup or salad, fresh vegetables and hot crispy garlic bread. All for a more than reasonable price. the food is excellent when it is made correctly. we placed a large order of 5 salads and requested specific omissions (ex. no tomato) and all orders were made incorrectly. hesitantly, we did not want to mention this to the business but since we order almost daily from this location - thought it would be worth to mention to management. woman at counter said that she is the manager and insisted that she did not make any mistake and denied the feedback several times - for spending $70 on a group order, I do not think this was right at all. she did not acknowledge or apologize and insisted that we placed order incorrectly on the phone, even though we had repeated order 3 times despite being rushed off of the phone. After dance recitals I'd celebrate with their chicken marsala or when I went on a breakfast date I'd come here with my boyfriend before school started. I've been going to this Village staple for decades, as it is one of the few down to earth eateries in East Hampton. The breakfasts are great, with the usual assortment of eggs, pancakes and waffles. Their feta omelet is a real New York diner fave. Lunches include many Greek style dishes including gyros, Greek salads etc. the shrimp gyro andGreek Salad with grilled shrimp are terrific. Burgers, sandwiches etc. are well prepared and there are milk shakes, egg creams and other sweet treats. Papas does a roaring business and one often has to wait for a table, but well worth it.
