Shrimp tacos
Paula L.

My daughter and I came here with very little expectations. There's not much to choose from in the area in December because everyone is closed. We were really hungry and needed food. We ordered shrimp tacos and the fish and chips. The cook thought we wanted fish tacos but that turned out to be awesome. We got that plus the fish and chips!! We totally enjoyed our food and loved the homey comfort of the place. Great experience

Yep yep....we were recommended by the Bike shop closest to the ferry from North Fork. He said it was a mom and pop shop and they have really great comfort food. Definitely a cute spot. Definitely great comfort food. I had the turkey burger w/o cheese, and my beloved avocado of course. Washed that bad boy down with some wine and I was good to go! Very pleasant staff and I liked the simple decor. check them out...you wont be disappointed!

A fun, kitchy place for breakfast. I am never disappointed by the food.

The Islander is a homey, kid friendly spot on Shelter Island. Seating in in or out. Breakfast is awesome. Eggs are always done right. Locals and off Islanders mingle with some good food and great ambiance

A great breakfast!! A place must fulfill three main aspects: good food, a good location and a good staff, and The Islander certainly has them. The eggs benedict and the islander special was delicious. love your pancakes and home fries. RECOMMENDABLE

We were dying for food because the night before we didn't realize there is no food on the island after a certain time. Fyi, the food here takes a long time. It is also a little muggy inside so not sure if they have the ac on full blast. They serve lunch after 10:30am so it isn't like a diner where they serve everything at all times. The eggs benedict was basic but hit the spot. Then again anything would have hit the spot after being food deprived for a day. The french toast wasn't great so I would skip that. They also don't come around to fill up our drinks. This is a 3 star place but with the limited options on the island you may end up here.

Charming local spot with fresh food and warm service. Delicious and happy place where the locals have left their own coffee mugs. Liz is delightful & cheerful. They also have oat milk for your coffee. And it is cash only but they accept Venmo. Great outdoor picnic tables & a porch complement the air conditioned interior when you crave a warm breeze.

Inside. I noticed key lime pie. Oh yea.

5 stars for food, 0 for service! If you don't like being in the service industry, find a new job!

Service was just like one of their specialty burgers: stinky. Good milkshakes though.

So tonight I wrapped things up in Greenport and I really wanted to stop and try Aldos. I'm so glad I did. Espresso is my coffee of choice, especially as an Americano, and Aldos espresso is oh so good! Pair that with a nicely decorated store, super chill music and a killer view of the water and I was instantly in love. I didn't have any baked treats, definitely next time, as this will be a go to spot for now on. I am sure you'll like it too. I'm placing this in my top five spots with a solid tie for spot number two! Last but not least, I have to say the staff was super friendly and not pushy at all, I know I came in late maybe 45 minutes before closing, but they treated me as nice as if they just opened. Great job! Edit: Forgot to mention I grabbed a pound of espresso for home. Cant wait to grind some up!

Sprinkled with actual chocolate which I heard they make themselves. Decadent and such a rich way to start the day. Great homemade biscotti and croissants to dip. Recommend the plain croissant over the chocolate (so you don't get a cocoa rush like I did). Cozy spot with lots of tables inside and in the backyard. 5 stars!!!
