There aren't too many options for places to eat on Shelter Island, and with weird hours for COVID, we were left with even less. I was excited to try Maria's because of great reviews, and we did get a few items we liked but overall I thought it was just ok. You can call your order in for pick up, which will save you a lot of time because they were pretty busy on a Monday night! - Chips and salsa: comes with a huge portion of fresh tortilla chips and a side of guac and pico. I really enjoyed the chips and couldn't stop munching on them - Baja fish taco: HUUGE portion! When I opened the box, I thought it was two tacos, but it was actually just one giant one. The fish portion was pretty big and it comes with avocado and slaw. This was really hard to eat as a taco, so we just ate it with a fork. I'd recommend this taco if you come here! - Campechano taco: mix of chorizo and beef. Super dry :/ didn't really enjoy this one.. Even with all the sauces they give you, it wasn't very satisfying - Al pastor burrito: pretty decent portion as well! Flavors were a little lacking, and the meat was also a bit dry. The extra sauces helped a little but I wouldn't order again.

Baja Shrimp Tacos

The Baja Fish and Shrimp Tacos were amazing! It's a take out place but the have some outdoor seating that they will serve you after ordering inside. Service was good and fast. We had the nachos, fried plantains and some Choriso Tacos. All were good but I would go back for the Baja Fish!!

Baja shrimp taco is immaculate. So much shrimp in one taco. just amazing. Chicken taco is super yummy and not too salty! Nachos is pico de gallo was *chefs kiss* but the nachos were very clumped up together- still very good.

Huevos rancheros

I've been to Shelter Island a bunch of times now and for some reason, never came in here but better late than never! I had the Mexican omelette and my girlfriend had the huevos rancheros. We both loved our food and thought it was a flavorful and hearty breakfast. The chorizo was way better quality and quantity as the amount they give you at Stars. We both loved the fresh avocado and appreciated the large amount. Can't wait to come back and try the tacos next time!

Best Mexican food on the island. Burritos, salads, and tacos all are great! Also just recently tried the mango coconut smoothie with yogurt, so delish. Be careful your order is right they have messed up my order multiple times. Always sweet about fixing it

I stopped here after eating at the Islander since I was still hungry. It is literally next door to the Islander hidden behind another place. This one is as authentic as they come. They had a lot of stuff on the menu but my favorite is the carne asada torta. It was really good. The carne asada had good flavor and wasn't dry. The sandwich hit the spot and was exactly what I was looking for. If you are in the mood for mexican food this is the place to stop. It is a small place but packs a punch!

Barbacoa, Lengua, and El Pastor tacos

I'm extremely picky with my "Mexican" food. I was blown away to find some of the best goat Barbacoa tacos I've ever had in Shelter Island NY of all places.

"Green sauce chilaquiles"
Angel R.

The worst chilaquiles I have eaten!!! What had to be crispy chips dipped in sauce turned out to be greased and cold tortillas, we spoke to the manager and the solution apparently was to put our dishes in the microwave and give us sauce outside. I think your staff could try to be more pleasant. I honestly expected more from this place.

I was in town for a bachelorette party weekend, we decided to have breakfast here. I ordered…read morethey're famous Chelsea and it was a great choice. The food was very tasty, the combination of the ingredients made the dish worthy. The eggs were over-easy and the bread absorbed it nicely. I would definitely recommend a trip to this little market if your in town. The market also had very unique organic products and the feel of it was very cute. I found Ezekiel cereal which I had never seen before. Overall great place.

A great quick-serve breakfast/lunch spot in the heart of downtown Greenport…read more A group of 7 of us wanted a quick breakfast after a yoga class, so we decided to stop by The Market. They had a good sized menu with your breakfast/lunch staples, and they're extremely vegetarian friendly! I had the platter with eggs and potatoes and it was delicious. They have alternative milk such as oat milk, so if you have a dairy allergy then you're in luck. There are some tables and chairs if you'd like to sit down, and there's a small grocery store section with lots of allergen friendly and vegan food options for purchase. The service was quick however one of our orders was incorrect: One egg sandwich was supposed to have avocado and tomato and it came with just eggs. Just be sure to double check everything before you leave if you have a larger order. Otherwise, everything was delicious and very decently priced.
