This review only has to do with the doubles. I was looking for a place to eat, as I was leaving Montauk and saw the restaurant doubles. The reason I had to stop in here is that I have a house in Trinidad and could not believe there were doubles (Trinidadian street food) at the end of Long Island. I must say, I was skeptical, but the doubles was really excellent. There was flavored bara which also had a great crisp to it. The Chana was really tasty and the sauces really great. If you have never had Trinidadian food, let alone Trinidadian street food, you really should try this ! read more

We were not very happy today at Doubles. The cashier who took our order was not friendly or helpful. She did not tell us that the house sauce is spicy /hot- one of us reacts strongly to spicy food. w We got our order and started eating it only to discover it was not what we ordered! Doubles is such a cool, laid back and unique spot nestled in the heart of Amagansett. I stumbled upon them while walking around the town and was drawn in by their abundant outdoor seating and awesome energy from the many locals I saw. There was definitely to a nice buzz going as everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals and having lively conversations. Upon walking in, I really loved the overall vibe and the interior design- it was so well thought-out and everything just flowed perfectly. As for food, I went with the curry chicken and potatoes over rice. It was a hefty serving and came in a bowl. I got full about halfway full so after requesting a cover, it was perfect to go! The rice was quite flavorful and the curry was delicious with such the right about of slight kick. I loved that they even had a chess board and several other fun games available for anyone to play. While the mahi mahi sandwich and chicken-and-potato roti were delicious, I wasn't totally wow'ed by this place like I thought I'd be. Also got a chicken and rice dish and a double, which was all very unique but overly spicy and flavorful. Felt like, dare I say, too much flavor all at once! A fun relaxing place with a lots of choices on the menu We had the fried chicken sandwich and the mahi sandwich. Both were excellent. The fries were great too. Nice and crispy and not greasy. The people we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Some people saw us eating outside and asked us if the food was good and we said YES!!! They went in and ordered and loved their food too. Great Caribbean joint out in the hamptons area. Authentic, spice has good kick. Fairly priced for the area. Welcome to Amagansett! On my first visit I of course had to try the Doubles ($12) - seasoned chickpeas and cucumbers on a bread. You get 2 and they are fairly filling. I thought they were delicious. I also had a watermelon slushie ($10). Refreshing! Next time I hope to try the chicken roti, which looks like a burrito. They have outdoor seating and a few stools at the bar indoors. They sell numerous goods as well but I didn't really look that closely at the offerings. read more

Snuck away for a lunch out this week and finally got to try this place now that the summer crowds have subsided. Fish and potato roti was absolutely delicious, as was the scotch bonnet sauce that accompanied it. It was a nice autumn day and we enjoyed eating outside. First time at Doubles! Ordered a Leilani Bowl to-go and was pleasantly surprised with my order :) It was delicious, fresh, well-balanced, and large portion. They have some seating inside as well as a few tables outside. Large selection of interesting snacks and drinks available too. Will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area! read more

Casual vibe with delicious, flavorful food. Best on a day without rain since most of the seats are outside. The house special "doubles" has an interesting mix of textures and flavors. Really nice and large enough to be a meal or a shared appetizer. While I think they are meant to be eaten by hand (like an open-face sandwich or folded like a taco), I found that a knife and fork helped immeasurably. Also enjoyed the crunchy greens and the fries. This was our second time in less than a month after discovering it. Each of the beloveds got their own chicken and potato Roti this time which I'll describe as a burrito, like roti shell perfectly browned and within, fresh cooked chicken- white and dark meet and perfectly cooked potato chunks in a curry sauce. The vegan had the bowl option chickpea curry with rice and peas, I learned the rice and peas was actually rice and kidney beans and fresh cooked kidney beans are such a treat. The beloveds were contemplating next time. maybe they would get a bowl and a Roti and share or add the rice and peas on the side as they were admiring my rice. The packaging was good- cardboard bowls. And not too pricey considering it's the Hamptons. The chickpea bowl was 15 the chicken Rotis were 18 and good sized. And the ambience -I mean summertime in Amagansett, the breeze flowing through the open windows, gave tables inside a porch feel and outside a picnic. Such an attentive and welcoming staff. Fun sitting at the diner bar stool. I had a very hearty, generously portioned and very tasty mahi mahi fish roti (bathed with the best salsa verde sauce I've ever had) which was served over delicious curry potatoes and rice with peas. The sweet plantains will bring childhood memories to Caribbeans and Latinos alike. The chocolate flourless cake slice was creamy, chocolatey, and beautifully contrasted with the salt flakes. Yum! The only problem with Doubles is that you want to order everything -- which we did because we were a big group, but that meant sharing. So next time, I'm going by myself and ordering, well, I think I'll start with the fried chicken sandwich because it has a great crunchy crust, and also get a double, which has just the right touch of tamarind, but maybe also the Freddie Bowl because the stewed pumpkin and chickpeas and whatever the dressing was delicious! This new Eatery in Amagansett is delightful - the Chicken and potato Roti was so delicious , and I discovered dairy free rhubarb and strawberry Yoghurt , great as dessert with a packet of Kolsvart Swedish fish Candy . The benches , couches and seating area outside is beautiful , and easy access from the car park, if you have mobility issues. Dogs are welcome , as the dining is currently outside , but in the fall they will only have room inside for a few tables . The staff are energetic and friendly , they do take out and curb side pick up too . All in all a GREAT NEW casual dining venue - especially in the shade of the trees and umbrellas. Doubles is a complete gem! The Caribbean-inspired food is so delicious...I find myself craving the rotis, fish sandwich, and the "doubles". The breakfast rotis are incredible. Sometimes I stop by just to pick up a salad. I love their crunchy salad! I can't wait until more local greens are growing, because last summer they added all sorts of cool greens and veggies to the salads.
