I been wanting to come here for years and I finally made it to Rumba! Was it worth the hype and was the food great? Absolutely yes, and the service and workers here are great. You walk in here and you feel like you're on an island. The food is cart bean inspired and just packing flavor and cooked with love. For appetizers we got the Dominican ribs and sriracha chicken wings! Both appetizers were out of this world. I got a variety of tacos that were awesome. My wife's sister's husband got a burger he loved and his wife got some type of a risotto dish. Everyone's food was great and the drinks were amazing as well. I really loved this place and look forward to coming back. Great place to play the bar and watch sports. They offer valet parking and it is located on shinecock bay with a beautiful view! On a rainy weekend afternoon the place is still jammed packed because it's just that good The waitstaff is attentive despite its hectic atmosphere and the food does not disappoint. We had a plethora of appetizers and there wasn't one dish on the menu that wasn't great but Oh my god the ribs! They are melting off the bone and the perfect amount of sauce in them. Delicious meal and wonderful service! Me and my husband had dinner here on our way for our 20 year anniversary trip to Montauk. The ambiance is fun and tropical. Great for families, friends or special occasions. What stood out was how they asked if we were celebrating anything and when told we were celebrating our anniversary they gave us champagne and played our first dance song. I will say, the restaurant comes up fast so be aware that when you are driving by, you'll come up to it and then BAM, there it is haha. My friend and I got the coconut shrimp to start and the pieces were huge! So flavorful and crispy and the sauce was delicious. We shared tacos (taco Thursday!? Sign me up!) - a Brussels one, a shrimp one, and a fish one, and some coconut risotto and literally everything was divine. Came here for dinner via the Cowfish to Rumba courtesy boat at the start of 4th of July weekend. Arriving here by boat is just so cool, and I still can't believe this boat ride is actually free. We'd made a 7 pm reservation for two but wanted to sit outside, which ended up resulting in a bit more of a wait. The hosts were apologetic and you could tell they were in the middle of dealing with a ton of chaos trying to get everyone seated after the happy hour rush cleared out. After about a half hour we were seated outside just in time to watch the sun set. The ambiance of this place is cool and Caribbean themed, as is the menu, which makes for a fun atmosphere since Rumba is situated on the water. This menu is a welcome change to anything else you'll find out here in the Hamptons. We started off with the Dominican Rib appetizer which was fall off the bone tender, a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Next, we split the soy and sugar cane salmon which was perfectly cooked and paired impeccably with the coconut risotto and the Caribbean Mahi, served with amazing plantains. If you're in the Hampton Bays area and feel like you can't possibly look at another menu that's nothing but lobster rolls, this should be your next spot. read more

We called to ask about the corkage fee and they said if it's from a local winery, the corkage fee is complimentary for one bottle. Brilliant and awesome! We shared the curry clams to start which was beautiful in green curry sauce and soaked in goodness. I had the burger which was juicy and cooked perfectly. The fries were thick seasoned just right. We were craving some food with flavor so on our way to Montauk, I asked my uber driver to pick us up in South Hampton, wait for me while I picked up the food we ordered in advance from Rumba. We could not wait to dig in so we asked permission to eat in the car from South Hampton to Montauk. He was such a great sport. My order was ready when I arrived and when I checked in on Yelp and noticed that I qualified for a Yelp discount and was able to get my bill adjusted because of the perk- Yay for being a Yelper! We ordered the Coconut shrimp Island Ribeye, which came with mashed sweet potato Side of Sweet Plantains Side of Island slaw Zen Garden Curry Veggies Our fave were the coconut shrimp and the island ribeye. The mashed sweet potato was a little strange. But those sweet plaintians were a hit. The slaw abs the curry veggies were not that great but decent enough as veggie options. This place tries hard and succeeds accommodating visitors - they have shuttles for parking so no one has to shlep blocks or get hassled for parking on the street... Fun times are still here.... My friends and I arrived around 3 pm on a Saturday and were able to be seated right away outside. We ordered drinks an app and our meal all at one time. Unfortunately, my dunch lunch/dinner arrived late and the salmon was way undercooked in my salad. I had asked the waitress to have it cooked a little more. Waitress was great and very accommodating. However when the meal was returned I could not eat the salmon. Hard as a rock. Did not want it at this point as it was late coming out and my friends had finished their meal. Waitress once again did the right thing and did not charge me for the salmon. It did put a bit of a damper on the outing. Not a real big deal but I go often and have never had a problem. I visited Rumba at 1:30 PM for an appetizer and a drink. While the cocoanut shrimp was fantastic as usual and the drink and bar service was very nice, the atmosphere was not at all pleasant. There was a table of two mothers and three very young children, under 3 years old. Children will be children but when one is constantly screaming and the other is banging on the table with a sippy, it is extremely uncomfortable. I left early, but not before suggesting to the receptionist that it was too bad the family couldn't use the private room that was available. I was told that Rumba is a family oriented restaurant and that meant they could seat them wherever. Basically, I was told I would have to accept it. I did say I would have stayed longer but I got the message to go elsewhere. read more

My friends and I had a fantastic time here. We decided to pay a trip to the Hamptons for a friend's birthday in the dead of winter and spent most of it at the rental house with the exception of Rumba for one dinner and it was sooo worth it. The food was amazing, the wait staff were extremely kind to our large table of 9 people, even as they were waiting on the rest of the full restaurant, and my friends could not stop talking about how good the drinks were. As a self-proclaimed "mussel connoisseur", whatever the curry-type sauce that they used for this dish was the best I've ever had (all my friends kept asking to try one and I begrudgingly allowed it...). I decided on the special of the night which was shrimp in some kind of curry sauce and it was also insane!!! We also loved the interior design - it felt authentic and between the ceiling fans and the monkey statues, we kept finding something new to look at.
