Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Mexican/Spanish food spot of Montauk. Compared to the alternatives, this place is affordable and delicious. Parking in the front and back with open seating behind the building. There is a hot bar with solid options and a menu with food cooked to order. I recently visited Montauk and to my surprise there was a lot of over priced average food. How is that possible? I am not one to complain about price when it comes to food, if it is good. My friend and I searched for places to eat and most had a rating of 4. Which I guess is not bad. However she then found a place that was rated 4.6 that served tacos. Right away I am thinking I won't like this place since I have not had good tacos in awhile. I was wrong. *The hidden gem of Montauk.* The juices were fresh. The food was light and full of flavors. Also reasonably priced. It was authentic and delicious. When you first walk in, the place is small. You get in line to order your food, which is behind the glass. Feels like you are back in the school cafeteria line. Don't let it fool you it's waaaaay better than your school lunch. If you are ever in the area you should definitely stop there. Friendly service. Little take out spot in Montauk that specializes in Guatemalan cuisine. More of a bodega but they do have a menu with some Mexican items on it. Wanted to try the Guatemalan empanadas but they, of course, were out of them. Got the oxtail stew and was only given one oxtail which was mostly none and fat. It was on top of a bland fried rice with sweet plantains and a side of plain sautéed veggies. Not very filling or flavorful. The fried chicken was a little better. There is seating out in front but I don't recommend sitting in the back unless you like being attacked and stung by yellow jackets. Service at the counter was welcoming and helpful and there isn't any place else in the area where two can have lunch for under $25. Okay for what it is but not my favorite place. read more

We ate 3 nachos before we hit the soggy mess that was the rest of the dish. The large order of guacamole included a large amount of chips (which were honestly the best part of this entire meal) and less than a tablespoon of guacamole. The owner is very friendly the guacamole was fresh and delicious and they had some tables in the back outside to enjoy your food. Good inexpensive freshly made food or lunch. 3 Taco combo a great deal, mix it up... I got 2 fish and one shrimp, all great $11.99. They will offer some choices of level of hot sauce on the side. Friendly folks. I went twice in 2 days, as I was in town for work, not a tourist. Bills itself as takeaway but there are picnic tables outback that they encourage you to use. You have to exit & go around back ( unless you want to cut through the kitchen :-0) so maybe it is officially takeaway, but a great deal in Montauk. read more

4 stars for food quality: had the chicken tacos and chicken was grilled well and juicy, tortillas were fresh and held together perfectly (these are corn tortillas, mind you), the pico was fresh and you could taste how fresh even the cilantro was, guac side was good, chips that came with tacos were only ok. But 2-3 stars for other important but not essential things: no seating, no bathroom (though they let me use the employee one), no credit cards (though the owner's sister's shop 50 feet away let me run my card there...odd, but it worked out fine!), and perhaps most importantly there was a language barrier--I speak moderate Spanish but the lady didn't understand that I wanted a separate order of guac and chips on the side. All these things are surmountable, but you gotta satisfy your customers! The meal was a bit overpriced for these reasons, but the food was good enough for the 4 stars. I want to see these guys succeed. Really good Mexican food! read more
