    Hot dog and fries
    Dee C.

I went to get a hot dog with mustard, relish onion and a small frie. $8.50. Prices went up. And they didn't toast my bun on my hot dog. I was disappointed. And I got a smaller portion of fries too.

A great casual spot for seafood, burgers and ice cream. I was there on a rainy day so there were no lines. Usually there's long lines on a sunny day as the food is worth the wait. I opted for some ice cream and the staff were friendly, courteous, and quick. Food is either enjoyed on one of their picnic tables, your vehicle, or to-go.

Quintessential summer burger shack, great burgers, good hot dogs Was a very nose day, so we took a drive to Harry's but took the scenic route through ct to get there. Got here and the place was busy. Jumped in line and snagged a menu from the front. It's a simple menu, burgers, dogs, fries, some seafood and whole belly clams. So a good selection. Ordered a red hot, a dog and a cheeseburger to try them out. The hot dogs were good, grilled well and plenty of onions. The buns were a little dry, so not the best buns. The red hot was a standard basic red hot. Little spicy but one-note. They did cut and grill the red hot though which I greatly appreciate. The fries were generic but functional, nothing special but cooked correctly. The burger is small, but the quality is stellar. They either grind their own or source their meat from a skilled butcher. The meat was tender, juicy, and coursely ground to retain that steak like texture and flavor. They season their patties, and cook it to a nice medium well. In a land of smash burgers, they decided to go the juicy route. I like a good smash burger, but both smashed and juicy styles need a skilled cook to pull it off. The cooks at Harry's know how to cook and season correctly for their style of burger, and the end result is awesome for the location. If you happen to want a burger stand that's just a step above what other burger shacks offer, then Harry's is a very solid choice. It's great food done cheap, simple but executed properly and a nice place for a respite.

Harry's Place is definitely an institution of roadside eats. Hamburgers, hotdogs, some fried seafood. You can smell all the deliciousness as you pull in! It's counter service and there's a few picnic tables out front near the counter, but plenty more in a much more serene area out back. The burgers are the standout here imo. They look small, but they're quite filling and always juicy and flavorful. Always add grilled onions!! It's the best part! Hot dogs are good too, but apparently you have to ask for a griddled bun? At least according to a server when my husband went to ask about his cold bun. I find that kind of odd, but i guess just specify every detail to be safe.. They definitely aren't cheap either. Don't expect to come here and feed a family on a budget. Also, the bathrooms leave a little something to be desired. I'm not expecting the Ritz and it's certainly a step up from a port-o-potty, but they're pretty dirty and poorly stocked. Be aware that the parking lot is mostly gravel, and the only area that's paved is right out front.

Published menu at the stand. Not the same price they actually charge you

Beware! They overcharge you. The prices on their displayed menu and take out menu is not what I was charged I was told that they increased their prices but they haven't changed their published prices at the counter ir printed take out menu

Classic single burger , order of fries and hot dog

Delicious!! Nothing fancy butttt that's what you want sometimes , a classic great quality food that doesn't disappoint! I will say, if im being honest I'm deducting a star for two reasons , my burger was too undercooked. Maybe some ppl like it like that so I didn't say anything. Other than that burger was great!!! And the mac and cheese bites I had to return cus they were cold in the middle. When you think of a classic burger and hot dog, These ppl delivered!! Can't wait to visit again for there lobster rolls

This our friends and family that come up from NC every year.

Go to Harry's every year when I come up to the family lake house. He serves hamburgers, hotdogs, fries. They specialize in breaded clams, oysters and lobster roll with butter. Speaking of that I was very disappointed because the lobster roll was $30.00! Really, really! Lobster capital of the world, New England and he charges the same price I can buy it for in North Carolina. I didn't get it but the burgers are great! I have been going there for over 20 years every time I get the lobster roll but not anymore!! The outdoor eating is great and the service is awesome.

Clam strips. Batter so thick, there was no clam taste.

I grew up stopping at Harry's either on the way-to the beach (Ocean Beach Park in New London), or on the way back, so I was excited when my brother stopped here in our way to RI. My sister in law ordered a double burger and said it was very good. My brother ordered the fried fish and chips and said it was "ok" ... the breading was too thick and not that tasty. I had ordered the clam strip platter, and we ordered onion rings for the table. The breading on the fried clam strips, after eating half of them, I still hadn't tasted any of the clams. Same can be said about the onion rings. I was very very disappointed. I refuse to give Harry's less than 4 stars though... I have-to believe they care enough to look into this breading issue after they read this review? This restaurant has been a family favorite for too many years not to fix less than stellar items, especially the batter on their fried foods. Soooo with that said, as long as you stay away from the fried foods (not worth the calories), for now and you should be ok. Maybe ask them if they've changed the batter since the end of August 2022.

Harry's Place in Colchester is a CT Institution. It's been open for 100+ years. No matter how you look at Harry's, it's at least a solid burger, dog and fried seafood stand with outdoor seating open in warmer times. In my experience, the people who think of Harry's as a 5 Star Place, grew up going to Harry's and have great memories. I grew up in Ohio and have no longtime memories of Harry's. I like occasionally visiting when I'm in the area though. Harry's grills a solid burger. Today, I ordered a 1/4 pound cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato. For a quarter pound burger, it is taller and less wide than you would expect. Every part of the burger was above average, but not up there with the best CT burger places for me. I also ordered a side of fried calamari. It was good. I would order it again. Harry's often has a line. I thought they managed the line fairly well and service was friendly. I think I waited in line about 10 minutes and waited another 10-15 minutes for my food after I ordered. Four Stars for Harry's Place, but it's definitely one of those places that you should check out if you haven't.

    Our order. No bueno.

The shop is super inviting and nicely set up. All of the scoopers are beyond friendly and sweet, and terrific at what they do. I think sundae construction is an extremely underrated thing that I, admittedly, can be a bit of snob about. They are all masters. Nearly all toppings and elements are homemade, as well as all of their own creamy, while not excessively heavy, ice cream flavors! Even the dairy free options are excellent, and I couldn't even detect a difference. I have been 3 times recently, and most recently had one of the best ice cream experiences of my entire life (if not the best, and all 3 times have been among the top actually). I had a scoop of "Pride" (cake batter with funfetti cake chunks) & a scoop of dairy free blueberry lemon poppyseed in a waffle cone. The extra large homemade cone was crisp and perfection. The Pride flavor was a rare instance of cake batter ice cream not tasting artificial, having an aftertaste, or being overly sweet. The cake chunks were massive. The blueberry lemon poppyseed was utter brilliance. A bright base with all the flavor of the finest lemon poppyseed muffin you could imagine with thick ribbons blueberry , I'll call it a compote (pure fresh saucy blueberry). The other 2 stops I made I ordered sundaes. The first was their May mocha sundae including chocolate cake sandwiched between 2 scoops of espresso chip ice cream with mocha sauce, a biscotti, whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. The second was their classic sundae with brownie between 2 scoops of your choice (tiramisu & blueberry), walnuts, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. Both were phenomenal and I love the presentation. The assembly, ratio of toppings and honestly every aspect of the sundae is perfect. I go at off times so I love sitting on one of the 2 benches out front. So relaxing. They also sell pints to go. I can't say enough good things. Honeycone is a true gem, as good as an ice cream shop gets. Definitely check them out and support this incredible place!!

They offer a variety of seasonal flavors, and they've just swapped to their winter ones! I got a cup with gingerbread ice cream and chocolate orange ice cream. There were a bunch of other flavors though, like a peppermint one and eggnog! Since there's a good number of seasonal flavors, it was hard to figure out which one to try! While they unfortunately don't offer samples, they do offer an ice cream flight with 6 small scoops for $13.50. Tempting, but I unfortunately didn't need 6 scoops so I went with just the two! A cute option nonetheless. They do let you mix and match flavors of the scoops you get, so I got to try two. The flavors were phenomenal, I was so happy to get try them. What a pleasant little surprise in the middle of a cute shopping area!! I certainly recommend it here.

For me, the last time i saw a real emu was yesterday. The emu's name was Frosty, and he/she(?) happens to be a resident of Robb's Farm Ice Cream in Glastonbury. We also saw a donkey and half a dozen goats in fenced in fields, so Robbs sure gives you some value added to their sensational ice cream. Robbs has many of the traditional flavors, but some cryptic flavors that will send you scurrying to their posted cheat sheets to decipher the ingredients. Some of yesterday's flavors were Cow Pies, Dirty Barn Shoes, Donkey Tails, Llama Delight, Purple Calf, Tractor Grease, and Udderly Ridiculous, Not only is their ice cream terrific, but its reasonably priced. A 2-scoop cup is just $4 with tax included. I couldn't resist some of their crazily named flavors, so my two scoops were Purple Calf (black raspberry with cookie dough and chocolate chips) and Tractor Grease (chocolate with fudge and chocolate chip cookie dough). Robbs has quite a few picnic benches under a pavillion, so we grabbed a seat and enjoyed our ice cream on a beautiful summer day in the country. Truth be told, we loved Robbs a lot. It seems like the drive thru line is always veerrrryyy long. I just walk inside. Why idle my engine for twenty minutes (or whatever) to pick up a meal. Inside I'm usually first or second in line and have my food in minutes. The entrance situation on this building is odd. You really can not see it. Located on the side of the building, facing the main road, you have to cross through the drive-thru line of cars (or park on the left side of the building), follow the sidewalk toward the drive-thru, bear left and then look to your left to see the door. We placed a rather large (seven people) on-line order over the summer and they did manage to forget an item, so I get how that process needs to improve at this location. We also got an item that was not 'ours' in that order. Perhaps a case of 'wrong bag' in a busy kitchen? Whatever, the person without a burger was unimpressed as was the person who paid for the sandwich. Figuring out how to stop this madness definitely needs to happen. When we order inside for just a person or two, they do 'get it right'. There are napkins, straws and a couple other items located in an area just past the cashier. Whether you are dining-in, or taking-out, you need to grab your own items from this area. The staff are pleasant even if not the most interactive. Last visit I had their fish value meal. I must say, this fish is good. The outside is surprisingly crispy, you can really taste the cheese on there, nice bun and it was well constructed (as in, everything lined up, my cheese wasn't half off the patty for example). I will definitely get this fish sandwich any day ahead of some other fast food option. Way better texture and taste. I like Wendy's and am glad I have this option. On days I need to 'chew and screw' this is my preferred option.
