I've visited Sant Ambroeus in both New York City and Southampton, and I can honestly say my experience at the East Hampton location was my favorite. From the moment I arrived, Margaret at the front door made me feel genuinely welcome with her warmth, professionalism, and hospitality. She set the tone for an exceptional meal. The atmosphere perfectly captures the relaxed elegance of East Hampton, and every detail feels thoughtfully curated. The food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the drinks were just as impressive. The service throughout was attentive without ever feeling intrusive. This was easily my favorite Sant Ambroeus experience, and I'll absolutely be returning the next time I'm out east. read more

Always spectacular food & service. Cesar salad was superb, along with the hamburger made with veal & short rib! How do they call that a hamburger? Haha- super delicious! Wonderful cocktails too. I had no idea I ordered a $50 Caesar salad. WTF? It was delicious, with its lettuce and parm and croutons, and I added chicken. And the bill came. And it was $50 for my salad. No happy ending here. read more

This restaurant is exceptional! I sat outside with a friend in a tiny nook. They have fenced with plants and it was quite pleasant. The service was a little slow, but no fault of their own as the place was absolutely packed. We started off with coffees that were absolutely perfection! Add to that a ham and cheese omelette that is the best I ever tasted anywhere in the world. It was cooked perfectly, had the exact right amount of ingredients, and had potatoes seasoned with rosemary as well. If you are in the mood for something sweet, the marzipan cake is delicious! My only complaint is that they were out of croissants - they said they only make a few each day. I will definitely be back! read more

The atmosphere and wait staff are nice, but that's where the praise stops....It took a half hour to get our coffees....we couldn't get our waitress' attention so we had to ask the hostess who subsequently brought over the coffee as if they forgot.... After 45 minutes, the omelet (if you can call it that as it was tiny), which was bland and came out cold. We sent it back and it returned about a minute later after being microwaved. I would chalk this place up to being a one and done spot. If it's this slow off season, I can't imagine how much of a disaster it will be this summer....unless you want a 2 hour, overpriced, sub-par breakfast...go to the Southampton location, which is fantastic. I have rated St Ambroeus a 4 before, but this past trip was just ok. I know it's the Hamptons, and everything is stupid expensive, but 3 entrees, one appetizer a glass of wine and an iced tea should not be over $300.00 (with tax and tip). And if it is, it better be an incredible dining experience. It was not. Without getting into a lot of detail, it was Christmas week, and the service was spotty, but i could live with that. The lobster pasta, usually my favorite dish there, was just ok. The pasta this time was a squid ink linguini, which was fine, but the lobster itself was mushy. $55.00 for the special pasta, it should be special. Even the iced tea was mediocre. It tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. Like i said, I've been there a number of times before, and it's usually very good. But they are priced at "better than very good", and in a holiday week where you can say service might be off, it wasn't off at Nick and Tony's earlier that week, nor was it off at Highway. I will probably give it another shot at some point, because it's convenient, but they need to start earning their price point. read more

We've been dining here regularly since they opened and I just realised I'd never posted a review. In at least 6 visits, we have never had anything but excellent food, perfect and particularly friendly service, and wonderful ambiance. We have not had a dish on the menu we didn't love, I can partially recommend their seafood dishes. The lobster pacceri is so good that it's the main reason I'm on a low pasta (versus no pasta) diet. A lovely restaurant staffed by lovely people serving great food. read more

Tried this new (to East Hampton) restaurant out this week and had a lovely meal. They honestly did a fantastic job renovating what used to be Babette's! Waitstaff was kind, helpful with recommendations and present throughout the meal. My lobster pasta came undercooked (still had a crunchy bite to it) but after telling the manager they resolved it promptly and the dish was phenomenal. I highly recommend the ultra luxurious clam chowder and saving room for dessert. Loved the Principessa cake! read more

We came here to celebrate our daughter's 22nd birthday. Our reserved table was unfortunately not ready when we arrived (due to lingering guests, I suppose) and we had to wait quite awhile. The manager absolutely did the right thing and offered us each a glass of Prosecco, and we appreciated it! I had the Lobster Paccheri and it was perfectly cooked and so delicious. Equally devine were the Principessa and the Gianduia (hazelnut) cakes for dessert. Not one crumb remained. We had a magical evening, and will return. read more

This location is not good! Go to the southampton one. Linguine vongole was rich and creamy and not at all how it is prepared in south or on madison. Brussels were fried. Wine pour was so small. We complained and the manager had the worst responses. Thats how they do it here he said. The whole restaurant including the chef needs re-training. Don't bother going here until they figure it out. Eight of us sat down for lunch. We were visiting from out of town. East Hampton is a cute town. Many expensive designer stores and cool boutiques. All Eight of us had the avocado toast. The lime zest is a great addition. Make sure you order your toast, well done. The order only comes with one piece of toast, but with the poached egg it is pretty filling. We are delighted to welcome this tried and true Restaurant group to Newtown Lane. It is absolutely beautiful to look at, tremendously chic, perfectly lit, only a smattering of tables. Every detail of the decor left me gobsmacked. It's a small space so it has an intimate feel though, mercifully, the tables aren't all crowded together. The staff is friendly and professional. True, the prices will leave you weeping but that seems to be true everywhere now. At $22 the signature cocktails were uneven for us. A gin drink was quite watered down and lacked much flavor. A vodka drink was delicious but, served in an only half filled coupe, amounted to only a handful of sips. The bread (gratis!) was delicious and served warm with a delightful, peppery olive oil. The fluke carpaccio appetizer was flawless. My friend's artichoke and parmesan appetizer was delicious but, we felt, needed an additional ingredient, maybe arugula, to temper the strong flavors of the artichoke and cheese in a lemon dressing. My chicken paillard started out strong but the second half was so salty that I could not eat it. It was like someone stumbled and spilled a copious amount of sea salt on just one half of the dish. My friend's pasta Bolognese, a signature dish, was a huge hit. I never eat dessert but this place was too pretty to leave prematurely. We ordered a hazelnut confection and a lemon cream confection with a layer of the almost-never-to-be-seen marzipan. Both were perfection--light and fluffy and rather an unexpected generous portion as well. There are some very nice wines by the glass. Manager kept giving us an eye every time he walked past us and made us feel uncomfortable. Ruined the experience. Drinks were good and the chips were good as well. We stayed for 20 mins and the bill was over 125$ with tip for three drinks and chips. read more

Went for Saturday brunch. Two orders of avocado toast came with mostly hard boiled eggs rather than the soft boiled as indicated (and expected) on the menu. Server was very nice and the dishes were corrected. Sitting and watching food coming from the kitchen, we noticed bowls of French fries going by. While not on the menu, we asked if we could get an order....no problem. Imagine our surprise when the bill came and we were charged $17 for a side of fries. To put this in perspective the avocado toast was $18!! Absolutely ridiculous. We questioned the charge and were told that was the price. Our fault for not asking prior to ordering, but seriously. Talk about ripping customers off. There are many places to eat in the Hamptons. Will have to think twice before revisiting this restaurant. The owner should be ashamed of themselves. If the owner is reading this, we sat at the first table on the left hand side. You might want to check the vent overhead....we had water dripping on the table read more

What a disappointment! Just too expensive for what turned out to be a surprisingly mediocre meal. Only the dessert shined, which was a real letdown as we have dined at Sant Ambroeus' restaurants in NYC over the years and always felt the food and overall experience were very good. In the new EH location, which is very pretty, the service was indifferent and, prices wholly unjustified -- $24 watery cocktails, $33 green salad, bland pricey pastas and, most surprisingly, a half portion of a pasta that showed up on the bill at more than 85% of the full portion price. We were happy to see this new Sant Ambroeus come to town, but unfortunately it falls very short. read more

I would love to be able to review the food here. Unfortunately I cannot because it never arrived. My friend and I were a party of two - I am a black man. We waited an hour for our lunch to be served - including salad appetizers and entrees. We made several inquiries to the waiter, the hostess, and the manager, to no avail - we finally had to get up and leave -- unserved and hungry. We were told there was a slight service delay, however we had arrived for an early 12:30p reservation - the restaurant was nearly empty, and we watched numerous tables around us fill up with parties of two, three and more -- all arrived and were seated after us, ordered after us, were served and finished eating, and their leftovers were packaged and delivered to their tables, and they departed -- all while we sat waiting for service of any kind. I inquired of one departing party -- their reservation was in fact later than ours. I never pull the race card - I have a fantastic life and socialize in broad circles. I'm a homeowner in East Hampton and I love this city. However I have no choice but to call this out. If I could give Saint Ambroeus negative stars I would. read more
