We finally made it to this institution after I decided at the last minute to go to Montauk for my birthday this weekend, which happens to coincide with Labor Day weekend. We were able to get a reservation at 8:45 pm at the bar for Friday night- I could not believe it. When we arrived we waited only a few minutes and we were seated in the dining room- we were told the bar area never truly clears out- and I was thrilled. We had the famous zucchini chips for an appetizer, the panzanella salads then seafood for the entrees. The staff was attentive and cordial, they treat everyone as if you are important, which I think is spectacular for The Hamptons. The music was filling the restaurant and it was perfect for my birthday dinner. My only gripe (which seems irrelevant because, Hamptons) is the parking situation and there are no lights anywhere in their lot. It adds to the East Hampton charm, but we did have to park pretty far away. All in all, perfect dinner. read more

Finally made it to this Hampton's institution and it did not disappoint. Came here for an early dinner around 5:30 pm on a Friday and was able to get a seat at a bar. The interior of this restaurant is beautifully decorated and intimately lit. Definitely a cute place to take a date. We started off with cocktails, and I was happy to find that my dirty martini was made to perfection -- just the right amount of olive juice. Next, we ordered the focaccia which is a must have. The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy and airy and the flaky sea salt and rosemary absolutely made this dish. We also split their baked clams special which was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the yellowfin tuna crudo was fresh, salty and delicious. We also had the half portions of their lobster pasta with fresh local corn and penne dish that was their take on an a la vodka, also excellent. Service as friendly and prompt, our bartender Stephanie took great care of us. I've seen other reviews saying this place is overhyped but hard disagree. Staying in business for 36 years out in the Hamptons is not a fluke. This place is doing everything right. read more

I had to park a half mile away because all the parking lots were full. The Strip Steak was average (nothing special). For Hamptons pricing, this place is not overpriced. Funny to review this place after going for so many years. Recently we've been eating in the bar, either at one of the high tops or at the bar itself. We recently ate at the bar and had a wonderful evening. The ambience was convivial if a little frenetic, but in a fun way. There was a great crowd at the bar. If you want quiet the dining room is a better choice. Cocktails were delicious and service at the bar was excellent. The current chef is excellent and the food is better than ever. I started with roasted mussels in a puttanesca sauce and had homemade pasta with a rustic sauce and a burrata...both excellent. My dining companion enjoyed the beet salad and the shrimp crudo. We shared a panna cotta for dessert...also delicious. Dining in the Hamptons has gotten very expensive. Nick and Toni's is one of the few places that still feels like it's worth it. read more

We had several items, including the focaccia to start which was really good with the side of whipped honey ricotta. For entrees, the table had an assortment of dishes - penne, short ribs, NY strip and some others. All were prepared really well. Nick & Toni's is a staple of East Hampton and a great place for a celebration. They really pack people in there, but the service was great and so was the food. The fried zucchini was amazing, sliced so thin and crispy with a Parmesan coating. The halibut was good and the tartufo is a must for dessert. It serves two people! We were looking forward to dining there with our out of town guests and were extremely disappointed and annoyed at the lack of professionalism of Nick and Toni's when our reservation for July 3rd which was made a month in advance was cancelled by the restaurant just a few hours before our seating time. They have a policy of charging $50 per person late cancellation fee but have no problem cancelling customer reservations and offering no recourse. Very unprofessional and not worth patronizing when there are plenty of other exceptional dining options in the area. Beware! read more

We were out east for the day and decided to give this restaurant a try. Always heard good things about it. Reservation was easy and we were seated promptly. We started with the Cesar salad which was good. One thing that started to annoy me early on was the service. I had to ask for everything. Water refills, bread, plates for the bread. For the main dishes we got two pasta dishes. One was a special with rigatoni with bolognese and the other was lobster Campanella. Both dishes were very good but the rigatoni was barely warm. Very disappointing. Price was fair but we wouldn't go back. I just feel like a place with this type of reputation should have had much better service and hospitality. read more

I had dinner last Sunday on the heated porch with friends to celebrate a wedding, a birthday and someone becoming a US citizen. We picked Nick and Toni's to celebrate because the food and the service never disappoint. The meal was delicious and cooked to perfection with an artisanal cheese board, seasonal salads, risotto, steak, chicken and a dessert of dark chocolate cake with the signature house gelato. If you want to quickly spoil what is usually a great dining experience, simply rush diners through every course, make sure that the food is lukewarm when it arrives at the table & then have an attitude when you tell the server that you & your wife would like to finish enjoying the glasses of wine they ordered for dinner before getting coffee & dessert delivered! This was case last night during restaurant week sadly. We have always had wonderful experiences at Nick & Toni's over the years but not last night. A few other nit-picks. The tables in the room we were in were too close together resulting in staff kicking & tripping over diners chairs!! Not pleasant. Nick and Toni's serves foie gras - an item so horrifically cruel, that only the most heartless, self-centered individuals would ever order it. To produce "foie gras" (the French term means "fatty liver"), workers ram pipes down the throats of ducks and geese several times a day in a process known as "gavage." This force-feeding of excessive amounts of food causes the birds' livers to swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds have difficulty standing because their engorged livers distend their abdomens, and they may tear out their own feathers and attack each other out of stress. These animals have such terrible lives, that I would never step foot in a restaurant that serves it. read more

Haven't been in a few years, but N & T's always aims to please. Although it was the fault of Amex for listing Tuesday after Labor Day as a reservation option, the restaurant reached out to apologize. They generously offered anytime on Monday or Wednesday to accommodate our table of 4. Love the warm lighting, the artwork, and the comfortable banquets. We sat in the middle room with an inviting view to the patio. Our waiter was great, describing the specials enticingly and giving us time to pace our order. Appetizers, their amazing zucchini fritti + roasted peaches with stracciatella, hazelnuts & grilled bread, were delicious and perfect for sharing. Standouts all for main courses, grilled tuna was cooked perfectly with fairytale eggplant caponata and long beans. So good. Others had swordfish. So fresh! Their tried and true roast chicken. Seasonal lobster and cherry tomato pasta also delightful. Desserts, almost too full to order, consisted of an amazing lemon sherbet and a scrumptious chocolate tart. This is a wonderful place to linger over dinner. The kind of place where they refold your napkin, provide new silverware between courses and wipe the table too. Love the little touches. The service is always friendly and attentive, the specials are always interesting, and the food is consistently excellent. i had the tuna crudo (one of my favorite appetizers, and my second helping this week). While it is tough to compete with Pastis's version, this came awfully close. Jalapeno and bacon lent flavor and texture to the impeccably serve tuna slices. Main course was a grouper special. i decided i don't love grouper, but it was an issue with the fish itself. The presentation, on a bed of couscous and greens, was flavorful and interesting. we had a great time at Nick & Toni's. the food, service, and vibe were great. we made an outdoor reservation on resy exactly a month in advance (set your alarms folks) and we're seated promptly in the patio by the friendly hostess. our favorites were the zucchini fritto (a must) the summer corn salad (also a must), and wood roasted fish. the branzino comes with this zesty green sauce that's amazing. the only miss for us was the squid ink spaccatelli, and while the spicy sauce was delicious, it fell short because of the grainy pasta it was served on. it tasted like it came out of a box. a delicious sauce deserves a delicious pasta :) overall we had a great time, and will definitely be back next time we are in the hamptons. read more
