They serve delicious bread with olive oil dip to start .....really tasty My wife had the squid pasta ..... she loved it....and reasonably priced I had the salmon with lentils ..meh.....very uninspired and I expected alit mor for nearly $50 Very nice server..attentive and sweet ....and the hostesses did their best to accommodate our time change request But overall, a rather mundane dinner for nearly $150 is just over the top Great outdoor space, sone nice dishes that I'd like to try, and I will return, but probably won't be a frequent guest read more

Dopo La Spiaggia is a cozy place. Located on Sag Harbor. This was my first time dinning here. Dopo stays busy. Reservations are a must. The staff attends to your dinning needs. The dishes that I had were fresh, hot and delicious! The portions were what portions should be for an entree. If you're use to large portions you will question the size of your entree. Better than ever. Creative and delicious specials. Apps are really good -- the tonno, the melanzane, I could recommend then all (and I wish they'd bring back the kale salad with the fantastic dressing!) Pastas are wonderful and really shine here including terrific basics like spaghetti with tomato sauce and trenette with clams. And the famous rigatoni with sausage that always draws raves. But save room for the entrees! I've never seen a NY strip disappear so quickly! (And there are some new ones like the salmon that I can't wait to try.) Warm and inviting inside, peaceful outside. We have been to this trendy restaurant a few times . This time I'm giving it only three stars because of their prices and a couple of dings on food and drink quality so I thought I should balance it out. While we appreciate what's going on with inflation etc, we don't mind the higher price but then the food quality and everything else has to be there too. Starters, the don't have the best specialty cocktails going. Yes they have all the standard drinks but if one wants added flavor, they don't have any. No strawberry, pomegranate, watermelon etc. So if one wants a pomegranate margarita which Patrizia likes, no luck. And drinks are $20 each. My suggestion to the management? Get some flavors and spruce up your signature drinks. Especially for a summertime restaurant surrounded by water views. She got the plain margarita and I ordered a Bloody Mary. Both were good. This time we ate inside at a cozy table for two. Patrizia was sitting to close to a wall so we moved the table a few inches then we got yelled at since it's a small place. If someone did seat next to us, I would have moved the table back and give them room but no one was there yet as we chose and early dinner 530pm. For an appetizer, we split the tonno. A spicy tuna tartare, marinated cucumbers, avocado. I believe this was $29. And not big enough to split. But it was delicious. I wanted to try their octopus but they told me they didn't have it. After, when I paid the bill, I was happy they didn't have it. :-) I had the special fettuccini home made with oxtail ragù sauce. I never had that before and though it was good and the pasta was Al dente and cooked well. Patrizia had the salmon - grilled Scottish salmon, caponata Siciliana. So here is the thing. Patrizia is Sicilian. Born there and everything and an outstanding cook. In an Italian household, eggplant is a staple and we grow our own eggplant here and Patrizia make caponata often. The bottom line is it just didn't taste good .i think she was also expecting the fish to be hot and the caponata to be cold. Both were hot. The salmone was good. And she ordered a side of crushed potatoes and she thought they were delicious. Dessert we tried the panna cotta - we never had it before but it tasted good. And I had an espresso. They did serve us bread with oil. So, one shared appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 dinners and a side. One dessert and one espresso. A bottle of mineral water. $220 tax included. Service was good. Although maybe a little on the abrupt (cocky?) side. I left him a $50 tip .i thought that was good and surprised he didn't come back to say "thank you". Maybe in the Hamptons it's expected or a standard tip. I don't know. Buon appetito! Comments are welcome and appreciated. Tonight we will be in the Hamptons at another high end restaurant. when we went yesterday to try their $39.00 price fix menu, we did not even consider that this would be one of the worst experience we had for a long, long time. Although our waiter upon asking he indicated the portions would be a bit smaller to justify the lower price, we did no imagine the portions would be so minimal that they should have been served on a side dish. One of the dishes we order-the pork saltimbocca. A very small and tough piece on meat that even was missing the prosciutto the menu specified. Made reservations here during a Hamptons birthday trip. The actual restaurant is very inviting and gives a home-y feel. Our waiter was great, giving excellent recommendations and warned us about the pre fixed menu items being smaller. I'm glad he warned us up front because the portions are SMALL. We all ended up getting entrees after hearing just how small (4 raviolis for the pasta dish and 2 scallops for the a seafood option). The squid ink pasta was flavorful with a lot of seafood in it. The desserts we ordered may have been the best things we got, homemade tiramisu, panna cotta, and flourless chocolate cake. The drinks however weren't great. I love a strong drink but when a martini only tastes like the alcohol and burns my nose, I'm not a fan. read more

Hubbie and I stopped in for an appetizer and cocktails before our dinner arrangements at another restaurant in Sag Harbor. Walking up we noticed a super cute patio that was pretty busy at 4:30pm. Staff welcomed us and was very friendly. We sat in the cozy bar area on bench furniture with pillows. It was comfortable and I loved this adorable space. I also noticed the dining area was decorated nicely and had a fireplace. My husband had a vodka martini and I had a cucumber margarita which tasted very fresh and crisp. This was a first for me and I enjoyed it. We shared an appetizer called Burrata which is organic mozzarella cheese and tomatoes embellished with herbs and balsamic. Bread and oil were included. This was amazing and really hit the spot. I highly recommend this combination. We chit chatted with the bartender a little bit and had a few laughs. It would be nice to return in the future and enjoy a meal. Hopefully the annoying fly buzzing by our table would have moved on by then. Lol. read more

Great location, very attentive staff, lovely space. No AC on, we were all sweating to death. Some of the pastas were pretty good, the special carrot soup was missing something, tasted like baby food. The only reason it's not 5 stars for me is I have always experienced a little rudeness or maybe coldness is a better description. Honestly, for me, the food is worth it but it's just a strange issue. Nice patio. Good service. Food was okay. I was hoping to try the calamarata beef ragu that the other reviews were talking about, but it wasn't on the menu. Had the NY strip instead. Cooked it to my liking, but the seasoning is very basic, grilled - so no crust, and presented just the way it came straight off the grill, nothing creative. Tomatoes in salad were beyond their shelf life. Branzino tasted like it was rotten. Pasta was undercooked. Chicken Milanese was rubbery and tasteless. Served ice cold refrigerated bread. Refused to serve warm bread. Tables are way too close together. Constantly bumping into neighboring diners. While most Italian restaurants are supposed to cook their food in olive oil, most of the dishes at this restaurant contain dairy. read more

Dopo in Sag Harbor is a solid Italian spot. I've eaten dinner here once outdoors and done take out for lunch once. The outdoor seating area is really pretty and there is a lot of greenery. Earlier in the summer, they didn't take reservations but they do accept reservations in August. The pasta dishes I've tried (penne, trofie, ravioli) were all really delicious. I was shocked at how quickly they were able to make my lunch to-go order on a Sunday; it took them about 20 minutes! I would definitely recommend this spot! read more

I'm so disappointed in my experience here last night. They usually nail it, but not this time. I ordered the burrata to start. I've had it here before - always amazing. Cherry tomatoes were not seasoned and way too cold - no flavor at all. The burrata was also too cold- it was a solid lump of cheese, as opposed to creamy and rich. Again, not seasoned. I have the tick bite allergy where you can't eat meat (yes, it's awful!), so I ordered the rigatoni with vodka sauce, peas and sausage, but with no sausage. Again- I've ordered this before and it was delicious. This time was rigatoni in a plain tomato sauce- not a vodka sauce. Boring and, believe it or not, luke warm. Our server was friendly, when he was around. It wasn't busy but we sat there with dirty dishes in front of us for 15 minutes before we flagged someone down. He pretty much took our order and that was that. No check back, asking if we would like more wine (we did). Lastly, the focaccia type of bread was flavorless and cold. Spent a few days in Sag Harbor and decided to check out Dopo. Quaint little building located off Main St. Didn't hit all my marks. I realize food costs are up everywhere we turn these days. But to have almost all appetizers priced $25 and up? Steep for anyone. When compared to dining at a highly regarded Italian restaurant the night before, I knew it would tough to top. I had the Bisteca entree which was a little fatty. Good size portion but I have had better. Biggest disappointment of the night? The coffee. I'm an American; not some European tourist. The only coffee made available to guests is the expresso driven version out of an expensive looking machine. I want a drip coffee all Americans are used too. Plus, the floureless cake although good cost way too much money. Trendy place in an upscale Hamptons like neighborhood. Prices and portions are out of whack post Covid everywhere. read more

Honestly, was expecting more from this place. Tables are so close together that My back was touching the person behind me's chair. Even though outside seating was empty, and we had a reservation, our waitress took a bit to come over and say hello. When she did, she did not mention her name or any specials, nothing, just "what can i get you". As a server of 8 years, I'm used to hearing and giving SOME sort of introduction on the place I'm eating at, the server's name, etc. Our waitress maybe exchanged five sentences with us the entire night. The atmosphere was really weird...seemed like the staff had no problem attending to every little thing that the rich residents of Sag need (a puddle where some dude parked his car....he threw a fit and the staff was ON IT immediately). The food was average, pasta was al dente, brussel sprouts had no flavor. Overall very weird experience, I assumed that paying minimum $20 for a SIDE this place would at least be good, but honestly you can get better marinara at the store. Would skip if I ever visit Sag harbor again. Maybe if I had a LV purse and tacky gucci slides it would be different. Bummer. read more

This cozy and sacred hidden beach restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere in this restaurant is perfect. Outside there is a cozy, flower-planted terrace overlooking the green city and the megayachts. The menu is very creative and the food is delicious. If you are lucky enough to meet Maurizio, it will spoil you with excellent service, interesting stories and great wine offerings. Excellent service and family friendly. read more

There's better options everywhere else. Super disappointed in the Bologna's. The only dish that was loved at a table of 8 was the eggplant dish. So if you go I recommend trying. Great ambience at this restaurant. Super chill with very efficient and friendly staff. Great menu choices that should cover all of your Italian taste buds. I went for the Spicy Tuna Tartare for first course which was fresh and decent tasting although it could of been a bit spicier in my opinion. Second course was the Bistecca which was Rib Eye with asparagus and shaved fennel. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare but it turned up more like medium but I ate it and it was a great tasting cut of meat, full of flavour. Dessert was a sponge cake with Nutella and nuts which was really light and not too heavy on the sugar which capped the whole meal off perfectly. If you're in the Hamptons then give this place a go. Found this restaurant via goop.. WOW was I severely disappointed. Staff and our waiter, were very rude. After our meal we were enjoying our dessert cocktails when the owner asked us to order food due to covid....after he had seated us him self an hour earlier. We felt very rushed and disrespected by the staff and owner. My group consisted of 3 young girls trying to enjoy a Monday night in the hamptons, but felt very unwanted. As we were leaving we disclosed with the owner our disappointment in the service and our treatment and he did not care less. No apology and wished us good luck. DO NOT RECOMMEND. We have been going to dopo la spiagga for a few years. Today was a big disappointment. It was not busy maybe 6 tables in the mid afternoon. Food was ok. Not as good in the past but decent. It was the service that makes me say I will never go back. Sat for 1/2 hour before anyone took our order. We had to ask 3 different people to get us bread before we got it. The appetizer came and dinner not 5 minutes later and we took a few bites of our appetizer. Our water glasses were empty and we had to get up and ask the bus people for more. They were too busy standing in the back of the restaurant talking instead of taking care of their customers( three of them). Not ok especially when you are paying top prices. A mixed drink was $20. I get it's the Hamptons so you have to expect to pay more but they really need to pay more attention to their customers read more

Very disappointingly. Food served in an alley so dark one could not read the menu or what one was eating especially dangerous when eating fish which was overpriced, dry and a small portion. Had to use cellphone for illumination as did others.Staff attentive but anxious to get you out because people were waiting outside. Don't order the salmon! Would not return!! read more

Should have been better. I'm so tired of excuses that it's busy cause it's Summer. This is what you are....a restaurant in a Summer location. It is what it is, train your staff better. It's Tuesday (July 4th is this Thursday) and already they're basket cases. Again, it is what it is. You do 90% of your business in July and August, staff up! Yes, the outside dining area is still nice as when it was Tutto years ago. And the food was good (not amazing, but still very nice). But the staff and lack of a warm welcome atmosphere from the staff just annoys me when I'm dropping $150-$200 without ordering much. I'm just so fed up with slacking staff that you need to ask 2-3 times non stop for water, or bread, or more water when your glass is sitting empty for 10 minutes. No thank you, no goodbye, no feeling that they could care less you even dined there. We'll stick with our favorite places like Almond and Bell & Anchor that never disappoint even when they're slammed which is always. read more

Very disappointing and snooty service with a high price tag. I went to Dopo on the morning of my intended dinner to make an in-person reservation (my phone kept getting a busy signal). The hostess told me she could make a reservation at 8 pm indoors. While we're still very much in the midst of Covid, the restaurant has fairly spread out tables in the dining room, so I said okay. When my boyfriend and I arrived at the restaurant that evening, we were sat in a connected bar room, a few feet from the bar itself. Clearly a table for walk-ins rather than reservations. The waitress immediately came over for drink orders, but we said we needed a few minutes to read the menu, so she left. Soon, more and more patrons packed into the tiny bar area, crowding our area. It already wouldn't have been ideal if we weren't in the pandemic, as it was hot and poorly ventilated, but due to the current circumstances, we became more and more anxious. 20 minutes later, with no check-in from our waitress, I went to find the host to see if we could be moved to a table where we would be more comfortable. I was told that we were at a VIP table, but that they would do their best. No one followed up with us until our waitress finally returned to take our orders. She also said that there were no tables to move us to. My boyfriend went outside to speak to the hosts again, and he was rudely told that we should be happy we have a table at all. We promptly left the restaurant, after drinking water for 30 minutes with no help from the staff whatsoever. This was unacceptable behavior, particularly given the price point. read more

I was excited to try this place as I was a huge fan of Tutto and italian food in general. I was visiting my mom for the weekend and I thought Dopo would be the perfect place for a nice lunch. I was mistaken. The service was terrible. While we both speak perfect English, they assumed we didn't because of my mom's thick accent when she spoke to the hostess. We never saw a server. The wait staff decided to send the spanish speaking bus boy to take our entire order. That was a terrible idea because not only was it offensive, but he didn't know how to be a server. He took our drink order then came back 15 minutes later with our drinks and took our appetizer order. The appetizer eventually came out and he decided to come 30 minutes later for our entre order. We waited over 45 minutes between finishing our app and our entre. Our empty dishes sat there the entire time. We watched as the servers (clearly in a different uniform than the person serving us, who was the same person clearing the tables) were kind and attentive to the other 2 tables in the restaurant. It was highly offensive. I was so upset that I couldn't even enjoy my meal. Not only was the service horrible, but the food was subpar and pricey. The only thing I really enjoyed was the panacotta and the espresso. We also waited around 30 minutes after we finished our coffee and dessert for someone to walk by us to ask us if we'd like the check. I would understand this level of service if the restaurant had been packed. But we were 1 of 3 tables on a Sunday afternoon. We were completely ignored and looked on while other patrons enjoyed their time and I feel that it was because we don't look like the type of people who could afford that restaurant because of my mom's accent and the color of our skin. Well, we can afford that restaurant and we still left a nice tip just to prove that we can. I will never go back and I don't recommend it to any locals who expect to be treated properly. We've lived in East Hampton for over 20 years and never have we been treated that way at a restaurant. We truly felt like we didn't belong. My tip is to stick with what you know. Especially places like Dockside that treat locals like family. read more
