Spaghetti Nerano.

Our second time to this lovely new restaurant at The Maidstone. Highly recommend. The service is warm and accommodating. Our dinner was delicious both times. This evening we ordered the grilled octopus, grilled peaches with burrata and pistachio and then had the Spaghetti Nerano and the Nero Linguine. We also had the charred zucchini. Garden seating is lovely as is the inside dining room. Bravo

I came here for dinner with my husband last Sunday over MLK weekend. We decided to stop in because we saw an ad in the Independent for the Sunday prix fixe and $1 oysters after 4pm. Our usual go-to for dollar oysters on Sundays is the Bell & Anchor in Sag Harbor, but we opted to give the Maidstone a try. When we were seated for our 6:45pm reservation, I asked the waiter about their dollar oyster special and was told that the offer was only from 3-6pm and only at the bar. I mentioned the ad I saw in the paper but he told us that information was wrong. We were a little disappointed in the false advertising but ordered a dozen oysters anyway since we were looking forward to it. The oysters were excellent (even if they were triple the price we were expecting!) and we really enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer we shared. My husband also said his martini was made perfectly, which is a huge compliment coming from him! All in all, we enjoyed our dinner at the Maidstone but the bait and switch of the newspaper ad left a bad taste in our mouths. Our house is in East Hampton so I'm sure we'll be back at some point, but we'll make sure to get there before 6pm next time!

So, I've been coming here for over ten years and to be honest - ten years ago this place would have gotten flat out Five Stars! And we visited no less than once a week. This place was our go to and we miss it for what it was. Somewhere along the line they messed up the formula. First and foremost with the staff. In the beginning they had the best and most consistent staff in the Hampton's. They knew you when you walked in and knew what you wanted a how you wanted it. Now, the staff is never the same, they barely know the menu themselves much less know what I might like. The menu is a mess. In the beginning it was distinctly Scandinavian. The meatballs were a staple among other favorites. Now, most of the dishes that gave the place its brand are gone and now the menu is as random as chili and tacos. No seriously, chili and tacos are on the menu....like a dive bar might have. My advice is this - give it a try but keep your expectations low. It's clear they are trying to get back to that place but they keep missing the mark - but who knows maybe they will accidentally get it right some day - even a broken clock, amiwrong?

The young man waiting on is explained that because it is a bed and breakfast they had restrictions on dining hours ok I understand As the night progresses and me on a sour mood.. these folks were able to turn it around with kindness , thoughtful care and exceptional food The salad with buratta was so fresh , very simple but elegant In presentation The Tuna Tatare an absolute powerhouse of clean flavor without a fishy aroma. The bomb dish ( in a good way) was the linguine with lobster. Wow!!! Many places here on EH destroy your wallet just by using the title " lobster" this perfectly seasoned dish is a light butter cream sauce was not at all heavy the lobster plentiful and frankly enough for two ppl All in all my only complaint is that they are only open Wednesday through Saturday but hey.. if it's that good it worth planning around their schedule. Go!

There was so much history here and the restaurant just hasn't done anything to improve on it. Food is decent, but not worth the price. Service is mixed and uneven. First, the bar has become super sterile and it's lost a lot of its soul. You guys got rid of the wood paneling in the bar, the booths, everything. There was no one at the bar and the bartender kept me waiting for like 10 mins and didn't clean the dirty glasses from the party my before me off the bar. See the picture. It was gross. The steak was good but under-salted. The Brussels sprouts were horrible and the Gigi salad has been massacred. You killed a simple salad. The bread was microwaved nonsense - it came so hot it was inedible and then when it cooled it was so hard to eat...I mean it's bread. Not that hard. The carrot cake was one of the worst I have ever had and you had a good carrot cake. You weren't even making it - you were buying the carrot cake. Just sell that one. This is such a sad thing that happened here. Actually depressing.

I don't like a Caesar drenched in dressing but this was ridiculous. My lobster tail was delicious but they didn't take it out of the shell which was weird to me. Cookie and ice cream for dessert was perfect but the hefty price tag for dinner was baffling, considering what we had to eat and drink. Would only try again if they did price fixe in the winter. Not impressed.

First off the Caesar salad was mediocre at best, lettuce was limp, drenched in sauce topped with a few stale croutons. Ordered a porterhouse medium, when received the fillet side was well done and grey while the strip side was medium well, and yes I know that with a porter house both cuts are usually not the same but it was literally grey! And at 160$ it was unacceptable. I wanted to send it back but my husband refused since it was dinner time and was getting busy. Then there was the lobster mac and cheese. Great sauce and texture but there were 3-4 pieces/shreds of lobster in the entire plate. Other sides were good but could not enjoy since steak was terrible. I really wanted to love this place since we live very close by but unfortunately it's a one and done for us. Good luck.
