Interior atmosphere was very much suit for "Hamptons" vibe. Little rustic and bay inspired. The food was more of Asian fusion and wasn't too clear on what the restaurant wanted to stand for. My favorite dish was the Korean Chicken buns which was part of their appetizer menu and it came with 2 buns reminding of Korean fried chicken. The big downside was the price. It was way overpriced for 2 buns. The Linguine with clams was a solid dish. Pretty good but the portion was little on the smaller side for the price. Spit Roasted Organic Chicken was the least favorite from the dishes we ordered. It was not very tasty and visually did not look great either.

Lobster Toast! All it was missing was that crunch from the bread to give it some texture....

Came on a Thursday night in August after making a last minute reservation. Dinner was at about 9, after a long drive out on the LIE we were ready for some food. Decor- looks kind of like a dive from the outside, but inside sleek and open, if not a bit dark and loud. We were seated in the back at a large table Meant for six right by the bar. Started off with lobster toast and drinks. Drinks were excellent, Lobster toast was almost there. The lobster was sweet and light. All I wanted was some crunch from the bread to give the dish some contrasting texture. Nope. Got squishy bread, so was kind of just chewy. Easily could have been fixed by simply toasting the bread they used or using a crustier bread. Taste was on point tho. Entrees were the squid ink pasta with shellfish and the special of the day, pan roasted Halibut. We also ordered a side of broccoli rabe and French fries.... because every good meal deserves a fry. Squid ink pasta was cooked perfectly. Very hard to get the shrimp to not be over cooked but this was perfect. Flavor was very good, not fantastic, but the execution was perfect. The halibut stole the show. While the piece of fish was rather small for $45, the smell that came off that plate made our mouths water. And that crust, perfectly seared. Try as I may, I can never get a crust like that and believe me, i tried many times this summer to do it. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Why this is not on their regular menu I have no idea, but it should be. When we were driving over we were praying it was available since we did not see it on the menu but the photos of it on their site were unbelievable. French fries, eh. Broccoli rabe seemed bland at first when eaten with the mains, but upon second tasting was quite good with a subtle hint of heat. For dessert we had peach cobbler. The best part was the home made whipped topping. Peaches were hard and crunchy, not cooked enough. Wanted to like it but just not well done. Great find, located right on the side of 27, just like the name implies!

The food continues to delight at Highway. We are thrilled the Asian Night items have been extended to everyday. All of the choices are good ones, and easy to pick sharing dishes. Get the Duck Pancakes if you can. Much love to Lala and Fred, running a tight ship there! Special Thanks to Justin. Food is Delicious. If i could only get that hummus recipe...

We started with two unusual and inexpensive appetizers- the heavenly biscuits (2 per order) for $5 served warm with Hampton's organic honey. These biscuits were delicious and I could have eaten a basket full of them. With a cold beer they had just the right amount of savory and honey sweetness. The deviled eggs (3 per order) with special relish for $12 were a perfect starter. Not to heavy - melt in your mouth. Onto the entrees: my triple cut brioche roll fried lobster po boy sandwich $48 was toasted with butter, tomato and lettuce and crispy tender lightly fried lobster pieces. With a Nice sandwich remoulade. A bit expensive, but it was a large sandwich full of lobster meat. A little hard to eat because of the height of the sandwich. My wife tasted my sandwich and thought the lobster should remain cooked but not breaded and fried. To each their own. The Nashville style hot chicken sandwich came on the same three cut brioche bread with the shiny top, perfectly toasted ($36). Here again - delicious tender chicken and a large meaty sandwich. Beer and wine service was spot on with a leisurely time pace between appetizer and entree. No room for the two offered desserts- but the key lime pie looked scrumptious.

Our server (sorry forgot his name) was genuinely friendly - a rarity in the Hamptons these days - and made great food recommendations. The restaurant is one flight up with indoor and outdoor seating, even our inside table offered fantastic water views. Shared an order of burrata (a special of the day) to start, thoroughly enjoyed the creamy globe of cheese resting on tricolor sauce with toast points. My bouillabaisse, comprised of a large lobster tail, clams, mussels, and white fish, was well spiced with a saffron-based broth and served up with butter-slathered toast to mop it all up. Yummy! Partner's lobster rigatoni was made with plenty of fresh lobster meat and a well flavored creamy sauce. He said it was filling and delicious. Excellent experience overall, would definitely return when in the area.

All this and more is possible when you dine in during the week from 12-3:30pm or from 5-6:30 for dinner. The interior of Lulu's is super nice and upscale. Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I was too hungover to have a cocktail sadly, but my brother got The Ambassador martini (also on happy hour) that looked delicious to start. We ordered pretty much every seafood item on happy hour along with the shishito peppers and were so happy and satisfied by the end. All of the seafood was incredibly fresh. The shishito peppers were perfectly grilled. The octopus skewer was tender and delicious. Shrimp, crab, oysters and clams were all super fresh. Even the bread they put out was out of this world. My only complaint is that there were a lot of fruit flies around -- likely because we were seated near the produce that was out on display. But I would still come back for this food and these deals.

Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton: Culinary Highs and Service Lows…read moreRating: (Food: 9.5 | Service: 6) Topping Rose House remains a bit of a Bridgehampton enigma. As a spot we find ourselves returning to a couple of times a year, the kitchen continues to operate at a gold standard, even when the front-of-house seems to be stuck in a bit of a fog. The Food: A Seasonal Symphony If you are coming strictly for the palate, you will not be disappointed. The freshness of the ingredients is palpable: * Oysters: These were pristine--served icy cold and exceptionally fresh. The mignonette was the standout here; perfectly balanced and bright, it elevated the oysters rather than masking them. * Pea Soup: This was a revelation. It tasted as if the peas had been picked just yesterday; it was vibrant, "green," and utterly delightful. * Lobster Roll: While it was admittedly small in stature (especially for the price point), the execution was flawless. It was bright, crunchy, and avoided the heavy mayo-trap that many local spots fall into. The Service: A Comedy of Errors Unfortunately, the gap between the kitchen and the dining room was wide during this visit. While our waitress was personally lovely, the actual mechanics of the service were incredibly frustrated: * Timing Issues: We were offered bread at the start of the meal, yet it didn't grace the table until we were finished eating. * The Water Gap: Our sparkling water sat empty for far too long. Refills were offered, but like the bread, they arrived only after the meal had concluded. * Lack of Proactivity: There was no offer for drink refills throughout the courses. * Accountability: Most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment. Mistakes happen, but a simple "I'm so sorry for the delay" goes a long way. Instead, the lapses were never addressed or accounted for. The Verdict: Topping Rose House serves some of the most phenomenal, fresh food in the Hamptons. However, when you're paying Bridgehampton prices, you expect the service to match the caliber of the kitchen. We'll likely be back because the pea soup and oysters are hard to quit, but we'll be crossing our fingers for a more attentive experience next time. mi
