Log Cesar

A very classy establishment, and I'm glad we chose this place for dinner the other day when we were out in the Hamptons, cause it really is an upscale and timeless spot. We came in for dinner around 6:30, this was on a Saturday night, and I don't think we had reservations, but as luck would have it we got a nice table across from the bar which is a section for walk ins I suppose, so that was nice. The server was super energetic, and also had so much energy she kinda gave me a little anxiety at times. Nice girl, but I don't like when servers put on the overly happy and exuberant fake personality when they talk to guests, I kind of got that from her. Anyway, the menu in my opinion is kind of minimal, there aren't many choices to go through what you want, but the one thing that did jump out to me was the Cesar with Oysters, so I dived into that. We ordered two martinis, and the ones we got were pretty bad. So bad in fact that we sent them back cause they were basically water. My girlfriend asked for a remake and I asked for Whiskey straight up, at least that can't be messed up. The second martini she said was much better, and my whiskey was, just whiskey, so that was good. The Cesar itself, and I've seen a trend here, is like another fine dining place we've been too recently, and idk why Chefs are doing this now, it was just a log of Romaine. Not cut up, just a solid log that you got to cut yourself. I hate this trend. Or style. If it's a thing now, I don't like it. Cut up the salad. The taste though was delicious, the oysters ontop were an incredible add on, and the tuna tartare she got was delicious also. Very expensive, it's the Hamptons so I wouldn't expect otherwise. As we were leaving there was a really pissed off family talking sternly and priviledgly at one of the hostesses, and I stayed out of that, but I would expect these Hamptonites to be wildly rude at times when they don't get what they want. Overall I liked it here, would come back for dinner!

The kitchen was a big disappointment tonight on the meats. I was really looking forward to their 22oz Prime Rib special. I prefaced that it should be medium rare and hopefully hot. The first time it came out STONE COLD, so I sent it back. The second time it comes out on a warmer plate about 5 minutes later, still stone cold. The third time it came out overcooked and hot. . So then I switched to the Ribeye which they said was something they do very well. So I cut into it and it was still blue. The second time it came out medium rare and was good. The service tonight was good and the staff is friendly. They did their very best to try and make amends. My recommendations: The biscuits Their creamed corn The ribs The ribeye (order it medium if you want medium rare)

Had a great late night meal! We ordered the biscuits which came out warm with the essence of rosemary in the mix. The burger and the French dip sandwich. The burger was medium rare and was served on some soft bread. Paired with shoestring fries that were lightly salted. It was a perfect match.

Excellent! I can easily say this was our best meal while visiting the Hamptons area. The house salad was delicious-enjoyed every bite! And the chicken sandwich was so big we easily shared this meal. The rosemary biscuits were also very good. Our server Victoria was lovely and so attentive. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

Delightful service, vibrant atmosphere, and the best French dip I've had. Looking forward to my next visit with a dirty martini at the bar.

$35 for a chicken sandwich and $22 for a glass of sauv blanc makes this a pricey option for a quick meal in the bar.

Ask the Community - East Hampton Grill

Is it pet friendly?

Absolutely not inside the restaurant, though you might call them and see if exceptions are made for service animals. I've never seen a pet inside. During the summer they have a few tables outside for drinks. Guess you could have a pet there.

Is there a vegetarian entree?

You can get a Caesar salad, as a main. There are no vegetarian main courses besides salad

Does East Hampton Grill have any outdoor seating?

They have outdoor tables for drinks but no outdoor tables for dinner

Are they open for lunch?

Unfortunately no

I was trying to find a way to go there without having to drive so far just for food. I live an hour away from them, so the travel time is what makes going there a deal breaker consistently. It's worth going to East Hampton generally, but it should be a day thing. Not just to go eat. The person who helped us was very knowledgable and asked good questions in terms of what you'd like for your platter. The food was top quality. Our platters were worth every bit of that gift certificate and I'd love to come around this place again! I also had to buy their sauce on the way back home because we use it for some dinners. My only critiques is regarding the mac and cheese. I wish it was more of a homemade baked mac and cheese with the toasted top. But definitely good mac and cheese nonetheless. The mashed sweet potatoes were definitely too seasoned with all spice. It gave it too much of a kick than I was expecting. I liked the seating inside and outside. If we didn't have bad allergies, would've probably sat outside and enjoyed our meal. Also, this place has their own parking area. So that's definitely a plus!

I got ribs, brisket, BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. I also got an order of the little gem salad. The ribs were some of the best I've had in years. Very juicy, excellent smoky flavor. Tender, perfectly cooked. Brisket was okay when it was warm, but after cooling off a little bit, it got very dry. I'm not a big fan of brisket in general because of how dry and hard the texture can get, but this is okay while fresh. The BBQ sauce on the side helped, but I probably wouldn't get it again here. The BBQ chicken was the most disappointing - just shredded chicken smothered in a ton of sauce. It was very dry, like sticks of matches drowning in sauce. Mashed potatoes were very buttery and delicious, but also retained some chunkiness and skin too, which I really liked. Very flavorful and decadent. Mac and cheese was very good as well, but not the toasty top kind. Still very cheesy and good, like they used real cheese. Cornbread was a surprise hit - very moist and soft, denser than most cornbreads, and a lot sweeter than most cornbreads I've had at BBQ places. It tasted more like a dessert corn cake, which I didn't mind at all. The little gem salad tasted very fresh. Dressing was just okay, and the salmon we got on top was very stinky and did not taste fresh. The skin had a nice crunch to it though. I wish the fish had been fresher. The greens were great, so I might just get it with chicken next time, or something else if they would allow that. Overall, really great food! I would definitely go back here again. It's been a while since I've been to a BBQ place that has really good smokey char flavor without tasting burnt, while still retaining juiciness (in the ribs anyway). I'd highly recommend the ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, salad, and cornbread. I want to try some other items as well. Very friendly service too.

Gotta love random little spots you didn't know existed which serve a wonderful purpose. That would…read morebe Smokey Buns which my wife and I visited back at the end of October when we were in search of a quick bite before a concert in the nearby area. Smokey Buns served a purpose for sure, but it was definitely a tasty purpose by the end of things. You see, out in the Hamptons you're destined to find some high quality spots, but with that comes more coin being shelled out and a longer meal time which we did not have the ability/desire for. Smokey Buns, though still a little pricier than your average quick serve burger spot, has just the right amount of class with a nice zing of cozy simplicity. You can see this combo in their decor as well as across their menu. Smash burgers and fries make up the gist, but there's a few other unique items (halloumi salad, fishwich, steak frites on Sundays) that help bolster its East Hampton location. For us, we just needed some burgers and fries and so we both got the #2 cheeseburger (a smash burger with smokey sauce, lettuce, tomato jam, crispy onions and american cheese) along with an order of spuds and a garlic paprika mayo sauce. Everything came out rather quickly, after ordering from the semi-friendly staff member, and it all was truly tasty. Was it a touch pricey? Perhaps. But I'll take that over what else was available in the area. Overall, Smokey Buns is perfect for what it is and where it's located. In no way would I necessarily travel out east just for this handheld. Though if I was looking for a quick bite in a cute spot without completely breaking the bank, I'd gladly return here. Use it yourself as a purposeful location when in need of something a little less frilly.
