Cold lobster roll
Adam B.

This place is iconic ... at one point, before the commercialization of the Montauk area, this was one of only two options for true roadside seafood stands in the area. Now, there are too many to count ... but this is the classic. I am not sure if it changed hands ... managers ... owners, etc. but the last few years made it not as good as it used to be. That's not to say it's bad. It's fucking great ... and probably always will be. But it just seemed like one of those spots where everything clicked and it was a true 5-star experience that was just on point. As in, perfect. Now, it's just great ... and I'll take that. Food: - I always get the cold lobster roll. Spoiler alert ... You are not going to get the same lobster roll you see on their Instagram and social. I was taught to always under promise and over deliver when it comes to marketing. The social media that shows giant, red chunks of lobster meat in a light dressing? Not really the case. You'll get mostly knuckle and shredded claw meat. A few chunks but their IG page is the equivalent of a McDonalds menu board showing crispy lettuce, fluffy buns and thick char-grilled burgers, when we all know what you actually unwrap. Having said that, this will rival anything you get in Maine ... or anywhere else. The meat is fresh and the dressing is perfect ... a little mayo, celery chunks and slight seasoning. The bun was toasted ... but not with butter ... which is too bad because that makes a huge difference. I probably could have eaten 25% more sandwich and been satisfied but I will admit that it left me wanting a few more bites for the price. Their fish and chips are my favourite ever. Freshly cut fingers of cod loin fried in light tempura batter. That makes all the difference. I have noticed that you used to get thicker rectangles in the past. Now, the pieces are a bit thinner. I'd recommend getting the full portion. The appetizer portion is a bit skimpy with 4 smaller sticks. Also ... the printed menu says $8 and the price charged is $10. Having said that, I have never had better fried fish. French fries are crinkle cut. Shake Shack stole this. Nothing special ... bagged and delicious. The service: Awesome. It is clear they hire people who truly enjoy working here. They are very capable and on the ball. Most don't use pads and remember your order. Our waitress was cheerful but not over the top ... very friendly and made our meal better. Atmosphere: Inside is a typical beach bar decor. Not fancy at all. The outdoor patio is where you want to sit. The two top tables are placed a bit awkwardly ... you are literally bumping elbows with the table next to you, it's that close. Also, don't expect privacy in your conversation. Also, they look at the tables across from you, so you kind of feel like you are watching someone else eat uncomfortably. Not to mention I had to look at a fat guy's butt crack who was sitting across from me at a picnic table for the whole meal. Overall, this is a classic roadside beach snack shack. Sure, prices are high because you are in the Hamptons but everything is fresh and good and worth the splurge. The music is fun, 1980's tunes and a very good and relaxing playlist. I'll continue to come back even though we're at 4 - 4.5 stars vs. the old days of 5+.

Summer isn't summer without a lobster roll at Lunch. It was a beautiful day, the restaurant is bright and clean. Service is friendly and welcoming (thanks Vincenzo!) I devoured my lobster salad roll and creamy Cole slaw. My husband opted for seafood chili and licked the bowl clean. It was full of lobster, shrimp and scallops, topped with cheese and accompanied by sturdy tortilla chips to scoop it all up. He finished with the frozen key lime pie (key lime is his all time favorite) and gave it two thumbs up.

4.0 / 5.0 Speaking of Montauk, this is the place to be! It was crowded with many customers from the moment it opened. I gave my name at the reception and waited about 10 minutes, but the turnover was good so I was able to enter without waiting too long. The restaurant was larger than I expected, with table seats, counter seats, and terrace seats. I ate on the terrace, but there were umbrellas and other measures to provide shade so I didn't feel the heat of the sun. The famous lobster roll was delicious, but the Baked Stuffed Shrimp was also very tasty with a strong garlic flavor! I recommend sharing it with the roll. The staff were all kind and gave me a coloring book for kids. There are also two clean restrooms.

Good food. Service is efficient. Sat outdoors under the plant balcony. Unfortunately it was a bit cold but the food was fortifying. Better value here. Hot lobster roll was a DIY adventure. Manhattan seafood chowder was satisfying, full of flavor and goodies. Clam strips were meaty and delicious. Crab cakes were good too, with minimal fillers and binders.

Excellent as per usual. Got my lobster roll fix here, and sat outside on the back patio. Great place, great staff, great food, friendly and fast service every time I come here.

So absolutely delicious - cold or hot you can not go wrong with a lobster roll here!! Staff was incredibly nice and the food came out fast. Side note, they have the best cherry coke!!

A must lunch stop while visiting the Hamptons! They easily accommodated our party of 5 after only a 15 min wait and a drink from the bar. Recommend the Lavender Gin Lemonade. We all got the Hot Lobster roll which comes with a side of slaw. We shared crinkled fries and onion rings. Had a fun celebrity spotting too!

This restaurant is by far my favorite stop right before entering into Montauk. This place just brings back so many great memories of vacationing here with my family. My fiancé and I decided to come here for dinner and when we arrived it was busy but not packed. Our waitress came right to our table and served us drinks and our food came out pretty quick. I ordered the crab cakes platter with coleslaw and french fries. The crab cakes were so tender and they fell apart easily when cutting into them but they were very delicious. My fiancé ordered a lobster roll because he hasn't had one in years and he was very happy with it. The inside of the restaurant had a very nautical look and just felt like you were on a boat. Again, I have nothing but nice things to say about this place and we can't wait to return!

This was on so many reels and Tik toks for must try places when you're in the Hamptons. So, obviously we had to try it! It wasn't busy so we were able to get a nice table outside. I can't remember the name but I had a banana pina colada of some sort that was really good! I started off with the seafood dip which was a bit too spinachy for my liking. The hot lobster roll was delicious! It comes deconstructed so you have to make it yourself but it's definitely a winner

So happy to find this place again! I stumbled across it years ago and knew it when I passed it again this weekend. We got lucky and didn't have to wait long for a table. Everything was so delicious and fresh. We started with the fish bisque and New England clam chowder. I'm a chowder girl and this one definitely measures up. We got one of each of the styles of the lobster rolls and the fish&chips app. Everything was perfect. So much lobster in each roll. Our waitress was lovely. Look forward to coming again.

Outdoor seating last night. The warm and cold lobster rolls are still 5 stars. Didn't have the clam strips this time but I did order the dozen clams. The lobster bisque was so good. I had to take another back home for later tonight.

Delicious hot and cold lobster rolls, insanely good chocolate cake, charming outdoor dining under a grove, an iconic staple in the Hamptons. A must-stop when you're here. Only good things. 5 stars!!!

This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant of all time. He is obsessed with the lobster roll and baileys banana coolada (I'm not sure if that's the name because he always calls the drink a BBC). Drinks are always spot on and the patio is the best place to enjoy the summer weather. I'm not exaggerating when I say we go 5 times a year. The only feedback I have is that the vegetarian options are a little limited- I wish there was more than just a veggie burger- but the fries are classic and the vibe of the place is killer.

How much are Lobster Rolls this season?

I don't recall the exact price but looking at my credit card statements for 2 people , 2 apps, 2 lobster rolls , and 1 beer with tip was just under $120. So I would say each roll was low $20s/ roll . Well worth it. The place is so fresh and… Read more

This isn't a martini that justifies a smaller pour it's a basic mixed drink, and the serving felt completely stingy. For the price, you'd expect at least a full glass. Definitely not what you'd hope for at that price point. Disappointing.

Customer service treated the incident like it was absurd that we would be distraught over FINDING A SNAKE UNDER THE BED. Details below. I planned my best friend's bachelorette weekend in Montauk, and booked Ruschmeyers. We had a Friday through Sunday booking. Saturday night, we returned from dinner, and a snake was spotted in the room. We looked through the room and discovered a snake under the bed that I slept in Friday evening. We called the after hours line (there is not a single staff member on site at the hotel) and they sent someone to remove it. The snake was huge. (See attached photos and video). It was close to 3 feet long. It was terrifying. The whole night all I could think about was how a snake was under the bed that I slept in the night before. We did not sleep that night. Since this incident happened, it has been difficult for me to fall asleep. I now remove the bed sheets prior to getting into bed at night because I need to make sure nothing is underneath them. I arrived back home to Chicago Monday, and called customer service Tuesday. I was greeted with hostility. The person on the phone made it seem like it was absurd that I would be upset about finding a snake under the bed. They said 1. Well, it's a rural area 2. Well, we did remove it I didn't even receive any semblance of an apology or acknowledgment of how scary the entire incident was. Customer service said " so what are you asking for" and I said I think some form of refund is appropriate. He told me he would call me the following day with an outcome. Wednesday came and went, nothing from Ruschmeyers customer service. I called twice Thursday, no answer. I texted the thread where they had previously reached out to me, no response. On Sunday I had the bride -to- be send an email and explain what happened, with pictures. No answer. She followed up on her email. They finally responded. They said they would give her a call Wednesday. Once they called her, they told her it was really out of their hands at this point, as I waited a WEEK to reach out. I called 2 days after checkout, math is hard for some I guess. It was the same customer service rep I spoke with the week prior. They behaved as if her email was the first time we reached out. They offered a small reduction in the total bill. She called them again and I joined the line. I laid out exactly how many times I reached out, how they told me they would follow up with me and never did. We argued. I explained that at this point. with their lack of understanding and their dismissal of our complaint THAT WE FOUND A LARGE SNAKE UNDER A BED I would expect a full refund. They denied us this. They mentioned that if we visited Montauk again they could offer us some discount on a new booking. To think we would ever stay here again, knowing their casual and dismissive response to our rightful complaint is laughable. We finally came to an agreement that they would refund us a night of the stay. To recap, it took: 10+ unanswered phone calls 5 text messages that were ignored 3 actual conversations with customer service, of which not a single "I apologize that this happened" occurred I am attaching pictures and videos of the snake. It is incredibly disappointing that Dune Resorts treated us so poorly. To treat this situation like it was something overdramatic, or did not warrant us as guests to be upset, well I will let the video and pictures speak for themselves.

I don't really care for grapefruit or gin but I found this combination extremely refreshing. I would definitely purchase it for myself. It would be one of my favorite beverages. I was very excited with this event because it was a plus1 and in Montauk so I was able to bring Mrs. M. and expose her to the Yelp World. Upon arrival our Host Nadia greeted us and explained what was entailed with this event. They also had snacks for us to go with our drinks. Breakers itself, one of the many resorts in Montauk was small but inviting. There was a pool by the bar with seating and a small restaurant upstairs with an adequate menu. All the staff was polite, efficient and accommodating. The atmosphere of Breakers contributed to a very nice afternoon having the Long Drink and snacks and speaking with other gusts. I'm sure there are numerous summer hot spots in the Hamptons that one can lay out at but here the staff was super sweet and ultra attentive. Parking can be slightly challenging because all spots are not overtly clear. Once you finally maneuver into a spot and park up the lounge-ability, drink-ability, and vitamin D factor is totally abundant. Not a large space but comfortable with separate pool, bar and patio areas. It would be nice if it was adult only, but kiddies are allowed too. Just A Note: Lyft is now servicing the Hamptons and Breakers Montauk is only a short Lyft from the LIRR Montauk stop.
