My husband and I had our introduction to Chillingham's Westerly on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This was our first trip to Westerly to dine at this steak house, keeping in mind that we're in CT around the Navy Base so we aren't very familiar with the Westerly downtown footprint. Upon entering Chillingham's we were immediately greeted by a smiling, happy to help face. The entry way was clean and didn't feel as if it was closed in, hard to access, and it didn't feel as if I was an interruption to other customers enjoying their meal. The atmosphere was easy to slip into and felt highly comfortable, especially for an upscale steak house. Accessibility is a hard feat for Chillingham's. In the Westerly downtown area, they are tucked in behind the main strip, and their access area is a hidden drive beside a secured parking lot. Once we had located Chillingham's, which wasn't an easy task, signage is well marked from the RI direction but not from the CT direction. By "well marked" I mean the restaurant is struggling with city ordinances for signs and other businesses not sharing their buildings for directional signage. The parking lot is quite small and hard to maneuver in. We ended up parking on the main street and walking down. This was not unenjoyable at all and would have been even more pleasant had it not been sprinkling. The downward street to their building is not well lit, again, not belonging to them, Chillingham's is hard pressed to fix this. The entrance to the building was clean, easy to enter, and well kept. The online reservations made it very clear that there was an upper seating area where steps would be essential or a downstairs area. This is an excellent way to prepare diners and allow them to customize their experience at Chillingham's. While the stairway was open and spacious, there was a significant amount of grease on the stairs. This not only is a significant fall risk for diners but must impact the Chillingham's staff as well. Understand that the upstairs area is beautiful and spacious and has a wonderful at home feeling. However, with restrooms located downstairs and staff using the stairs for food transportation, greasy stairs are just not safe. During the visit, we opted to sit upstairs. The music level and noise levels were excellent for an enjoyable dining experience. There is plenty of room between and around tables ensuring a private, comfortable meal with plenty of room for staff and patrons to maneuver without causing any interruption to meals. Lighting is on point throughout the restaurant. Intimate and cozy while being bright enough to see clearly. The meal was amazing. I have not had a steak cooked to that perfection since my father passed away many years ago. The sauce on the steak was pure perfection. My husband enjoyed the prime rib and has nothing but excellence to say. Without using the word excellent 17 times in a row, I'm not sure how well to express the quality of the food served. Taste was divine and there was no question as to if the food was locally sourced. You can taste the freshness. Our waiter did a fantastic job ensuring we had a wonderful meal. He was very familiar with the menu; in fact he described the special so well I was ready to skip the appetizer and have the main course immediately. His demeanor was positive and proactive; he knew when to make small talk and when to make the exit. He repeated the order back for confirmation and upsold both the special and dessert, making his job done perfectly. We didn't feel rushed or ignored at any point of the visit. The menu was easy to read, understand, and portion sizes and prices were clearly displayed. Allergen information was clear on the menu as well. Overall, our visit to Chilllingham's was very enjoyable and we can't wait to visit again. I give 9 of 10 stars, only loosing the last star for the difficulty in locating the restaurant. read more

An amazing location to get an excellent steak. If you're lucky there will be seats available at the bar where you can enjoy an amazing view and delicious cocktails crafted by David. While the Ribeye was cooked perfectly and just as delicious - I can't the same about the "2.0 Buffalo wings". 2.0 means they are coated in a blue cheese infused buffalo sauce. The taste was too light and it wahard to pick up the Buffalo or blue cheese taste. I'll try another wing option next time. The salads were fresh, plentiful with delicious dressings. I felt the baked potato was lacking. I got it loaded but it wasn't much different than what I could make at home with a russet potato from stop and shop. I did like the bacon chunks but I would stop short of calling it loaded. In the end it was the steak I went there for and I was not disappointed. The steak and the crafted cocktails with a professional bartender made the evening a success and I will be back. read more

Unfortunately, our experience at Chillingham's Steak was pretty disappointing, especially considering our bill was $307.80 for a party of 5. The biggest issue was the 8-oz filet, which cost $58. It was extremely charred--so much that I had to remove a significant amount of the char just to be able to eat it. For a $58 filet, I expected much better. The drinks were also disappointing. 3 out of the 4 we ordered did not come with a garnish, which made the presentation feel pretty lackluster. The $12 Seedlip mocktail was especially disappointing. It genuinely tasted like water with almost no flavor. For a $12 drink, I expected considerably more. All drinks were served with boba straws. They were also out of many items we wanted, which made ordering frustrating. By 7:30 they were out of the wedge salad, baked potatoes, baked stuffed shrimp and the pork chop described on the menu. The service started okay, but went downhill during the meal. Once our food was served, she never asked if we wanted another round of drinks, it felt like we were basically forgotten. After she dropped off boxes, it took another 20 minutes just to get our bill. We were sitting upstairs surrounded by multiple unbused tables, which definitely didn't help the overall atmosphere. The area was also fairly loud. There were 5 people in our party, with two people splitting one steak, and the bill was ultimately split three ways. We were also charged a $10 split plate fee, which was another thing that didn't feel great given the overall experience. I will say the service wasn't terrible the entire time, and the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, but there were just too many little issues throughout the meal. Between the over-charred $58 filet, flavorless $12 mocktail, missing garnishes, unavailable menu items, dirty tables, and the long wait for the check, I expected a lot more for what we paid. Overall: 1/5. I wouldn't be in a rush to return. read more

Went for my birthday dinner on the 4th . I was very happy they reopened as I visited before they closed a few months ago and thought it was delicious. This experience was anything but good. Salad was warmer than room temperature, service was slow & never came over to well after my dinner was served to ask me if I wanted another drink. My steak was barely room temperature and very undercooked. My husband's ribeye was nothing to write home about for the price point they are charging they just lost us as a customer. The hash was so spicy he couldn't eat it . The best part of the meal was the chocolate cake. They need to do better if they intend to stay open . read more

Had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Chiillinghhams. The food was extraordinary and the service impeccable. From the unique variety of appetizers to the steaks and burgers cooked to perfection, the sides, salads and amazing array of scrumptious desserts, one couldn't ask for more. We wanted to try Chillinghams Steak since it reopened, Monday we finally got the chance. We were not impressed. There were 3 large tables already seated when my husband and I arrived, (parties of 6 or more) and 1 server for the main downstairs dining room. Already off to a bad start, we are seated and it takes a while for her to come over ordered a couple of drinks and they take a long time to come from the bar. Longer than it should. Another table is sat, but as we are sitting there waiting I am freezing!! It was so cold on the restaurant, the table that was just sat all went and got jackets from their car to wear during dinner. Are drinks finally arrived they were good. I would say one of the better parts. For starters we had the shrimp cocktail and the poutine. Dinner my husband had the whisky burger and I had the salmon. Portions were pretty off! The burger was as big as frisbee! My husband ate half of it. My salmon I believe my cell phone is bigger, if it was a 4 oz serving it was barely. I got the asparagus because they ran out of Brussels sprouts and they looked like they were just thrown on the plate. Not a $38 plate. I wanted to update my review, we celebrated a birthday this week. Chillinghams went above and beyond! Dinner was delicious! The birthday guy opted for the dry-aged ribeye and it was worth every penny! Lucky my got a taste!! We brought family with us who had never been here before , they really loved their meals. We were able to sit at a bigger table so no crowding with our meals, they had a birthday card at the table and when dinner was over brought a generous slice of house made cake for the table to share. Recently re-opened and we had high hopes. Unfortunately, they were not met. On a Friday night, they were empty and vibes were slightly off. From the beginning, service was slow, and all the servers were kind of grouped together up front. Ordered drinks, aperol spritz for $16 was watered down (immediately can tell by the color). Appetizer was pork belly crostini, served on a stale MASSIVE piece of baguette, rather than a crunchy thin slice you might imagine. Caesar salads were warmer than room temp/which threw us a little off. The main course, Bone in ribeye, was good but came pre-cut which was unfortunate. When the check came, there were several discrepancies on the check versus menu. When we walked into the restaurant, someone was at the front complaining about the exact same thing which is super sketchy. read more

So the location and feel was great, the service was great, and the taste was good...but they missed the temp on my rib eye by a country mile. When I saw the menu stated l the recommended temps and basically anything over "medium" was sacrilegious, or something to that effect, I was stoked. I am a black and blue, or Pittsburgh rare guy, and when I requested a great steak house when visiting, this seemed like the right call. My exact statement, as always, when ordering a steak, was "I will 1000% never send it back for too rare, and cold in the center is fine", so when my ribeye was served at BEST medium, it was disappointing to say the least. At $50, I expected the temp to be spot on. The waitress seemed "meh" when she came around and I noted that the temp was well over, she did apologize, but that was about it. In 1000% transparency, I've had way better temps at Texas Roadhouse. Flavor was fine, the sweet potato side was nice, but for a $50 steak to miss temp by that much? Very, very disappointing. Next time I visit, certain I'll look elsewhere. The most disappointing thing is that a black and blue temp is not hard. Yes, its a PIA to get out with a three top, but a 4-6 minute ribeye to miss by that much, at a steakhouse, is a bit of a travesty. read more

WELL. This place is exactly what Westerly needed! From the same folks that bring you all fun in the sun all summer long at the Windjammer, Chillingham has shown the refined side of what a steakhouse can be. From the moment we walked in, the service was astounding. We were seated upstairs, with a view of the executive chef, Lenny, and his team delectably cooking each meal to order. The exposed beams and rustic decor lend themselves beautifully to the country western vibe of Westerly's newest eatery. Now. For the food. As a person who cannot consume gluten in any form, this was a dream meal. The staff was attentive to my allergy and made sure that every bite was safe. We began our meal with the carpaccio, which honestly had no right being that delicious. Next was a pair of ribeyes delivered to the table, both beautifully cooked to the most incredible, tender, medium texture. There was absolutely no need for a steak knife. The other steak options looked huge as they walked by us... It's location is awkward, but there is no better steak place between here and Mohegan Sun. Prices a perfect for a full meal With sides like onion rings or a sweet potato and a salad vs the a la cart menus at the chain steak places. Great date place, clean single bathrooms. And it has an outdoor patio on the river. Can't say enough about how great my steak was. And consistently cooked perfectly. Bartenders pour well and mix a great drink. Wine and beer list is just right. Go around 7 and you'll still have plenty of time to eat and enjoy. We tried this local steak restaurant over the weekend. It was just okay. The starters were good, the shrimp cocktail was good. The french onion soup was average. Ordered the NY strip and mac and cheese. The stake came out 10 minutes before the mac. Our waitress was ok, didn't check on us as our drinks sat empty. The steaks were very good, but the non-steak options were limited & frankly, the soba noodles with seared tuna was inedible. I've never understood complaints of "too salty" until this meal. The tuna was ok; the noodles were inedible. I mentioned this when the waitress offered to wrap it up, but she had no comment. OK but not anything like the reviews I read. All the reviews say it's the best place for steaks. We were on our way to Foxwoods to an event so we made a reservation to-eat here first. we knew it the first taste of the bread that all the hype on Instagram was total BS. The bread tasted like Pillsberry frozen dinner rolls that were freezer burned- not worth eating. I had a wonderful burrata salad. The three people I was with each a different type of steak. They all tasted very, very bland. All overcooked we ordered, medium, rare and all of them arrived medium well. We didn't say anything because we wanted to get to the show and if we waited for food, we would've been late. We ate and everything was just OK. It was nothing great. Nothing bad, but just nothing notable at all no special seasonings. Nothing on the steaks or the side. The service was OK - a secret. You shouldn't have to ask for water for a knife, etc. so it was possible, but it wasn't great experience so average I can't imagine that this place got written up as the best steak restaurant. read more
