So the location and feel was great, the service was great, and the taste was good...but they missed the temp on my rib eye by a country mile. When I saw the menu stated l the recommended temps and basically anything over "medium" was sacrilegious, or something to that effect, I was stoked. I am a black and blue, or Pittsburgh rare guy, and when I requested a great steak house when visiting, this seemed like the right call. My exact statement, as always, when ordering a steak, was "I will 1000% never send it back for too rare, and cold in the center is fine", so when my ribeye was served at BEST medium, it was disappointing to say the least. At $50, I expected the temp to be spot on. The waitress seemed "meh" when she came around and I noted that the temp was well over, she did apologize, but that was about it. In 1000% transparency, I've had way better temps at Texas Roadhouse. Flavor was fine, the sweet potato side was nice, but for a $50 steak to miss temp by that much? Very, very disappointing. Next time I visit, certain I'll look elsewhere. The most disappointing thing is that a black and blue temp is not hard. Yes, its a PIA to get out with a three top, but a 4-6 minute ribeye to miss by that much, at a steakhouse, is a bit of a travesty.

WELL. This place is exactly what Westerly needed! From the same folks that bring you all fun in the sun all summer long at the Windjammer, Chillingham has shown the refined side of what a steakhouse can be. From the moment we walked in, the service was astounding. We were seated upstairs, with a view of the executive chef, Lenny, and his team delectably cooking each meal to order. The exposed beams and rustic decor lend themselves beautifully to the country western vibe of Westerly's newest eatery. Now. For the food. As a person who cannot consume gluten in any form, this was a dream meal. The staff was attentive to my allergy and made sure that every bite was safe. We began our meal with the carpaccio, which honestly had no right being that delicious. Next was a pair of ribeyes delivered to the table, both beautifully cooked to the most incredible, tender, medium texture. There was absolutely no need for a steak knife. The drink menu has been crafted to complement the dishes perfectly. Thank you for an incredible meal!

Second time here! Flat Iron steak was even better than the first time I came here. Service was great at the bar and at the table. Mushrooms on the filet and cinnamon butter were a great addition. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. Chips with onion dip for an app is perfect to get you ready for dinner. I recommend the Caesar salad and onion rings as your sides. The other steak options looked huge as they walked by us... It's location is awkward, but there is no better steak place between here and Mohegan Sun. Prices a perfect for a full meal With sides like onion rings or a sweet potato and a salad vs the a la cart menus at the chain steak places. Great date place, clean single bathrooms. And it has an outdoor patio on the river. Can't say enough about how great my steak was. And consistently cooked perfectly. Bartenders pour well and mix a great drink. Wine and beer list is just right. Go around 7 and you'll still have plenty of time to eat and enjoy. Couples nights with friends or sitting at the bar with a buddy, are a guaranteed good time.

The food was high quality, mostly locally sourced and perfectly prepared. Sauces and seasoning couldn't have been tastier. Went there a few days ago for the first time. My first choice was the "Summer Fettuccine" which unfortunately was so popular it had recently sold out. I settled for the more plebeian hanger steak which at any random restaurant can be anywhere from meh (mediocre) to excellent. This was EXCELLENT! Tender and tasty. Loved it. I decided to come backcountry the next morning and sample their breakfast fare. Equally delicious. So satisfying. Had a few things all excellent but the "simple" (not really so simple) "Morning Taco" was outstanding; definitely a cut above. The staff was extremely friendly, especially our outside bartender Gabrielle, who was fantastic, so personable and creative with her drinks. Honestly, the drinks and her service were the best part of our experience. We started with the lobster wraps, which were good, but the tarragon and dill were very strong and overpowered the lobster. Next we had the scallops for $38, which I didn't feel were worth the price about 12 small scallops with a bit of lettuce. They were cooked well, corn sauce was nice but nothing particularly special, and I would've ordered differently knowing what I was getting. We were still hungry, so we got the rigatoni, which was delicious. My only note was again the heavy use of fresh dill, which started to overpower an otherwise great dish. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the location, the great staff, and especially Gabrielle. I'd return for drinks and try different menu items next time.

While the hotel offers several dining possibilities, there is no question in my mind that Coast is their culinary chef d'oeuvre. My dining partner and I found their New England-inspired cuisine to be not only beautifully presented but also absolutely delicious. Throw in an award-winning wine list, friendly & personable service, picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean, and a most satisfying evening at table awaits. Be advised, however... What also awaits is a pretty hefty hit on your pocketbook, as our five-course prix-fixe Degustation Menu - with several choices included - was priced at $145.00 per person, plus beverages, tax & gratuity (there is also a similarly priced vegetarian menu). If you want to add the Reserve Wine Pairing, which I did, that will cost you an additional $125.00 per person (Grand Wine Pairing an additional $250.00 per person). Definitely not what you would call a cheap date. That being said, however, in my opinion - and that of my companion as well - dinner here is well worth the expenditure. Our first course was the Ninigret Pond Oyster "Pan Roast." Sourced from a local coastal lagoon that is linked to the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island Sound, Ninigret Pond is home to several reliable oyster purveyors. I must confess that I have never been an enthusiastic fan of bivalves in general - and raw oysters in particular. However, the pan-roasted representatives sampled here, smooth & buttery with a touch of sweetness and sprinkled with Royal Belgian Osetra Caviar, were quite good indeed. And the Ruinart Singulier 18th Edition, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Nature, Champagne, (France), proved to be the perfect libationary accompaniment. But even better was the outrageously delicious Bluefin Tuna Tartare. I have tasted this dish on numerous occasions; however, this particular incarnation was in a class all by itself. Gently caressed by avocado and kissed by golden kiwi and a beguiling carrot ginger reduction, the result was a presentation that was pleasing to both eye and palate, and a highlight of our evening. The 2019 Tegernseerhof Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd Wachau (Austria), of course, added immensely to the enjoyment. The next course presented us with a rather interesting conundrum... the choice between two equally appetizing possibilities. My dining companion, of course, went immediately for the Seared Scallops & Foie Gras. I, on the other hand, decided to side entirely with the carnivores... Kuro Farms Wagyu Strip Loin. Companioned by short rib, confit carrot, and Sicilian pistachios, this was a winner all the way... as was the wine selection, the 2020 Aslina "Umsasane," an enticing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from Stellenbosch, South Africa. The dessert course was especially noteworthy, a Blackberry Sudachi Entremet aided and abetted by white chocolate mousse, lavender, and raw honey sponge. A rather unusual denouement, I must admit, but a lovely presentation and irresistibly scrumptious. And, once again, the wine selection - 2018 Domaine Huet Le Mont Moelleux, a Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Touraine, in France's Loire Valley - was right on the money. The Bottom Line: An exceptionally fine dining experience. Pricey, to be sure... but, in my opinion, worth every penny. A restaurant to which my dining companion and I would gladly return. Highly recommended on all counts.

Coast Fails. Coast…read moreno longer is the exquisite dining experience we have enjoyed for many years. It is now overpriced, forced, and mediocre. We started by selecting the 7 course ($245 pp) menu which promised to be a culinary delight chosen by the chef. The first 3 courses were from the cold appetizer menu - they were served all at once (rushed), and had a vinegary, distasteful flavor. We then had 2 courses from the hot appetizer menu - one was 2 small potato buttons (again, with a vinegary flavor) and the other, a piece of very good lobster (served separately which was better). We then had 1 item from the entree menu (wagyu beef) - small, fatty but flavorful, and virtually no sauce and 2 Barbie-size asparagus heads. The dessert was a flavorless jelled chocolate ring - with a dab of forgettable ice cream. We have always been delighted with the extraordinary surprises from the kitchen - this time, it was a total disappointment in every way - presentation, flavor, and portion size. The servers were confused (failing to bring cocktails & wine on time). The bread was the best part but don't ask for more (it's rationed 2 per person)! Their once fun "per dish" wine pairing is reduced to "per course" and not worth it (3 glasses). Additionally, the room location has changed. No longer do you have the refined and ocean-forward experience, now only some guests MAY see some water. Our table was adjacent to their other restaurant, with a curtain separating us and the noise level was not acceptable (we even had difficulty understanding our servers). There was virtually no recognition of a birthday celebration at our table (there's always been something "special" for the guest of honor). The little confections for all were a nice touch, but lackluster. For 5 of us (7 courses each, total of 4 cocktails, and tip) it was $1800.00. We left sad, disenchanted, and hungry (not like the old Coast). We won't be back unfortunately, and don't recommend it to anyone - many better options.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but this one is deserved. First of all the food is amazing but their "summer" menu seems far more limited than the non-summer menu. After being in Italy a few weeks ago this place is on par with many of the meals over there. It definitely has become drinks are fast to come out but food is slow. This has been true the last 2 times both in August. We had to ask our waitress for several things multiple times. It was a running joke that we asked for more bread 3x, butter 2x, another glass of wine 1x, and a side of sauce for the kids meal 1x. None of these ever showed up except for the wine. Then she disappeared for 20 minutes and never asked about our meals. Also, the kicker is one of the previous pics from 5 years ago is from the penne vodka with added chicken. We asked to add chicken again and for $9 we got one tiny thin cutlet which doesn't even compare. We love coming to this area but it might be our last time since there are so many good places. One other thought is when we first came in 2021 there was an older gentleman offering ice cream to all the kids. My kids loved it and always wanted to come back. It was great since they didn't charge us. Fast forward to 2026 and there was no ice cream in the building. We also heard the same guy arguing with another table that it took an hour for their food to come out and asked was it at least good lol.
