I love happy hour at Venice. Jennifer is the bartender, she is so accommodating and kind. She gets to know your name and makes you feel special and welcome. The food and drink deals are good, and tasty. I love the Cesar Salad, The Meatballs, and The Pizza. Not to mention the house bread. I plan to return, and bring my friends!

Throwback Thursday? Who says time travel is merely science fiction. One you walk through the front door of the Venice Restaurant, you are transported to a different era, perhaps the 1980s. The Venice reminds me of Italian restaurants I used to frequent in my youth, though they were missing the white tablecloths, and large bread basket with bread sticks. Otherwise the menu, the décor, the black waitress uniforms and lighting was a trip back in time, and not necessarily in a great way. We chose this restaurant because it was convenient to our hotel, and after a long day at Block Island, we wanted to grab a quick dinner. We were forewarned by the three star Yelp rating that the venue would be iffy. And my fellow Yelpers were right on, though the food on this visit only warranted two stars. We ordered: * Calamari * Ravioli (with Bolognese sauce) * House salad The calamari was rubbery, a little fishy and generally unappealing. The ravioli was prepared too al dente, the edges were hard, though the center of the ravioli was good and the Bolognese sauce was fine, standard fare. The house salad was fine, the lettuce was fresh and the blue cheese on the side was also fine. The bread was slightly warm, not especially tasty. Our waitress (Sam?), was excellent, cheerful, professional and prompt. Service was excellent throughout our meal. Would we return? Not unless we had to, or we were compelled by exhaustion.

Of all the places in Weaterly RI, we chose thisnreataurant to have dinner in. Its a holiday weekend. Okay, They were busy I get it. But rude, pushed off, abruptly shut down during an order. Waited over an hour for a glass of wine and then when I asked again was told they were busy and dont have enough help, as ro explain why I dont have my wine yet instead of just getting the F'ing wine. Other locals came in and got the Kings treatment so they were not "that" busy. I could go on but I wont. I will simply say this was my 8th and final time eating here. Do yourselves a favor and stay away. Avoid at all costs!

Could be a great place if they hired a real chef. Hospitality is great but no chef. Pay a real chef. 90,000 a year and the place would rock.

This time, we left happy, and full! Garlic knots with marinara, on point! My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad with house made dressing. And the pizza was delicious! The spinach and artichokes had just enough flavor not to be bland. The ricotta was a nice layer - not thick- and flavorful. The crust was light and airy, just enough crunch. Maybe it could have used a drizzle of olive oil after cooking, but it was still very good. Our server, Cassie, has been there for a long time, and was right on top of everything. It was slow... Mid Sunday afternoon, but we know they can get busy. There is a large parking lot, as well as outdoor seating. If new to the area, you could miss it... The plaza sign is covered with overgrowth, so watch closely!!

The nostalgia was real, and I was hoping the food would still taste like it used to -- and it totally delivered. We got a large Meat Mania pizza, a small buffalo chicken pizza, and 6 garlic knots. The Meat Mania was packed with all the classic meats and had a great ratio of toppings to cheese. The buffalo chicken pizza had a nice balance of spice and tang -- not overwhelming, just right. The garlic knots were more on the well-done side this time, so they were a bit chewy and harder to tear apart than usual, but they still had a rich buttery garlic flavor that paired really well with the pizza. I wouldn't say they were perfect this time, but I still enjoyed them. Everything tasted just like I remembered -- the kind of comfort food that hits different when you haven't had it in years. If they keep up this level of quality, I'll keep coming back every time I visit home.

The GPS led us to a parking lot, with a good number of spots and Nana's was 20 steps away. They do have a patio with a few tables but because it was raining, we went straight inside. When we arrived, there were only a couple parties seated, but by the time we were mid-way through our meal / leaving, the place was packed. Our server helped us with understanding some of the items on the menu and also warned us about some of the iteme they didn't have, like pepperoni, mushrooms, and donuts. With that in mind, we ordered risotto balls to start and the pesto egg and cheese sandwich (baked fresh eggs, pesto, cheddar cheese, lemon aioli, brioche roll) and Dijon and lemon chicken salad sandwich (slow roasted chicken thighs, lemon aioli, herbs, local greens, pickles, and side of fries) for the main meals. The Yaupon iced tea caught our attention since it has indigenous tea with rotating fruit fusion so we ordered one just to try it. The risotto balls came out a little sooner than the other items. We loved the crispy outside, but not a huge fan of the inside since it was mostly risotto with not enough cheese or something to glue it all together. The sauce tasted like a fancy marinara - it was tart, lightly sweet, but a tad acidic and herby too. In our minds, we imagined our main plates looking differently, but I think it was mostly because we didn't do a good job of reading the menu. The pesto sandwich was good. The eggs reminded us a lot of a quiche-spongey and light. It did not have a strong pesto flavor. The roll seemed homemade; it was good and airy. The Dijon lemon chicken salad sandwich was okay. The chicken thighs chunks were tender, and I could definitely taste the pickles, lemon, and Dijon. I think it needed more salt or even something sweet to balance out the acidic flavors. The bread was well toasted. The fries were delicious with the right amount of salt, crispiness, and variety. The iced tea was not our favorite as it tasted overly sweet which might've removed any fruit flavor. The staff was very attentive, they have lots of tables and high chairs to choose from, and lots of natural sun coming through the large windows.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but this one is deserved. First of all the food is amazing but their "summer" menu seems far more limited than the non-summer menu. After being in Italy a few weeks ago this place is on par with many of the meals over there. It definitely has become drinks are fast to come out but food is slow. This has been true the last 2 times both in August. We had to ask our waitress for several things multiple times. It was a running joke that we asked for more bread 3x, butter 2x, another glass of wine 1x, and a side of sauce for the kids meal 1x. None of these ever showed up except for the wine. Then she disappeared for 20 minutes and never asked about our meals. Also, the kicker is one of the previous pics from 5 years ago is from the penne vodka with added chicken. We asked to add chicken again and for $9 we got one tiny thin cutlet which doesn't even compare. We love coming to this area but it might be our last time since there are so many good places. One other thought is when we first came in 2021 there was an older gentleman offering ice cream to all the kids. My kids loved it and always wanted to come back. It was great since they didn't charge us. Fast forward to 2026 and there was no ice cream in the building. We also heard the same guy arguing with another table that it took an hour for their food to come out and asked was it at least good lol.

I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous
