Went to this restaurant for my mom's birthday dinner and had the greatest experience!! The grounds and restaurant are beautiful. The food was amazing & service was great. Must get the clothesline bacon!!! The whipped potatoes and Brussels sprouts are unreal too. We brought my 1 year old daughter - staff was incredible towards her. Will definitely be back! read more

Celebrated Valentine's Day here in 2026 and it was a very memorable experience. The hosts were very welcoming and seated us right away. All the ladies were given a long stem red rose. Our server was very delightful and attentive. They offered a special Valentine's Day menu but we decided to order from the regular menu. Starters were a shared wedge salad - loved the bacon pieces. We also got the oysters with caviar. For our entree, we split the bone in ribeye accompanied by mashed potatoes and creamy spinach. Best creamy spinach I've had so far! Dessert was complimentary with two huge chocolate covered strawberries and complimentary rosé Prosecco. Everything was awesome! read more

We were so excited for this experience. The service was very good! Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive and knowledgeable and very easy going. The Ambience is nice albiete a wee bit on the stuffy side. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of steakhouses. They serve the most delicious popover I've ever had. Scrumptious, Devine, delicate. The food was good. It's expensive and we knew that so it was fine. We had been dying to try it. I think we would go back and try it again. We were not overjoyed but it was a nice experience. Maybe we will try the brunch. read more

Just had an absolutely fantastic meal at Double Barrel. We started with the burrata salad with duck prosciutto which was spectacular. For dinner we had the double barrel steak special which included two 8oz steak filets, a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a peppercorn crust and béarnaise sauce. For $120 it is a tremendous value. We finished the meal with key lime pie which was 10/10. The service was impeccable and I regret that I don't recall my waitresses name but she was attentive and friendly. Finally, Phil S, who I believe is the GM, chatted with us to assure that everything was up to par. He was truly a warm and convivial host. We will be returning again soon! read more

So.... It's hard to write a review like this when the service was so warm and welcoming. The staff really does go out of their way to try to ensure you have a good experience from the front gate to throughout your meal. However, the food is disappointingly average and in some cases bland. For clarity, this is based on this year's Mother's Day brunch. While I typically wouldn't judge a place from one special event... the fact is you've got to bring your best for Mother's Day, period. And for an annual event, things just seemed a bit amiss. For instance, the giant table of oysters didn't have oyster forks available until asked for well into the serving period, and the same went for utensils to serve at the dessert table. The food was generally under seasoned and varied from meats that were entirely too dry to Caesar salads that had way too much dressing on them. It's a shame because you can tell they're using quality ingredients, but they're being completely mishandled during the prep and cooking process. The only exception were the cupcakes- they were amazingly moist and flavorful. While I appreciate the whole equestrian vibe of the decor and the room is generally comfortable, I do wonder about the large red horse statues throughout the dining room. They're odd. With the horse drawn wagon rides and fresh flowers being delivered to regulars at their tables, you can see there was an attempt to make it a special occasion by the staff. However, I can't say I'll be back. The only reason I'm even entertaining a three is that the staff is so darn nice. read more

You may think you're in for a fine dining experience, but you're not. Skip this spot and find another restaurant to support. First of all, they make it seem exclusive and aggressively fancy on their website. Very focused on a dress code and even stating that they have loaner shirts. There is even a warning on their site and when you arrive stating that blue jeans are frowned upon. However when we arrived there were people in jeans, sweatshirts, doc martens, etc. Kinda surprising. The staff seemed nice but they were incredibly slow and inattentive. We arrived at 6:30 for our reservation and weren't served dinner until 8. The drinks took painfully long to be served -- even coors lite from a can. They don't have ANY beer on tap. We had to ask for drinks about 6 times or more before they would arrive. The bread service featured burnt popover style rolls and cornbread. The cornbread was pretty good but the waiter took both plates away before our group could finish them. The smoked salmon appetizer was pretty good, but the fried calamari had zero flavor besides oil and definitely didn't seem fresh. For my main I had the Kurobuta pork. For such a prized type of pork, the chefs absolutely destroyed it. All I could taste was the extremely, EXTREMELY salty sauce on the stir fried vegetables. The veggies weren't fresh and were pretty inedible due to the saltiness. I couldn't believe the sloppy presentation either. Beyond disappointed by Double Barrel. Will not be returning. Such a waste to spend so much money on this experience and food. read more

This is one of the best meals we have had in RI! We went on a Wednesday night for the prix fixe date night meal deal and were really impressed by all of the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The service was spectacular as well - so accommodating and friendly, very professional as well. Everything you would expect from a luxury resort. We will definitely be back! read more

The property is amazing. The food is 100% worth a visit. Although pricey, it is so very worth it. From the bread service and the bacon on a close line to the short rib and filet everything we tried was amazing and tasted absolutely delicious. The raspberry lemon drop martini was probably one of the best I've ever had. The only not so great thing was the service. The maître d, host, and food runners were great. But the server almost seemed to be annoyed that we were eating there. All in all pretty great experience and would recommend. Food is definitely a 10 out of 10. read more

Our first and definitely not our last dining experience at this venue. From the start booking the reservation online was a breeze. The confirmation and calendar coordination was a nice touch. During the reservation process I was able to select "Date Night" as one of the available descriptions for the reservation for two. Upon arrival my wife and I were greeted by a very polite and professional receptionist that quickly got us seated. For a Saturday evening I expected it to be bustling, but it wasn't. It didn't seem dead, it just seemed very "available". That was comforting. From the start it was easy to see that no minor detail of the entire evening was not very well thought out and prepared for by the staff. Although many other smaller tables were available with two chairs, we were seated to a large round table for 4+ with a half-moon booth enveloping the large , thick, solid black walnut table with giant maple contrasting inlay of The Preserve's logo in the middle. As a fine woodworker I took note of the quality and craftsmanship of the tables. That's not common but certainly noticed and appreciated! My wife and I commented that the seating was well thought out and the location of the table in the restaurant was ideal as well. It made us feel special with a sort of "Lady & The Tramp" romanticism to it, perfect for a date night! Overall each member of the wait staff was exceptional. From our waitress, to our server, and even the bar tender that prepared our drinks table side. Polite, professional, courteous and warm, without being overbearing at all. I had one of their drink specials, a toasted marshmallow espresso martini that did not disappoint at all. With that being my favorite drink I've made it a point to try many of them when I can and this was one of the top two I've ever had in my life. Like a Lay's potato chip, you can't have just one! My wife and I shared an order of the truffle fries before our meal. To be honest I fully expected them to be overpriced French fries with a hint of truffle flavor added somehow. I couldn't have been more incorrect. To start, the fries were cooked perfectly, which is something so uncommon that you don't realize it until you're having fries that are cooked perfectly. After all, they're just fries, right? Wrong! These were the best fries ever and were incredibly delicious by themselves without any condiments needed. Oh, and they weren't skimpy with the truffle either! Absolutely delicious! For dinner I had the braised boneless beef short ribs with whipped mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The asparagus and potatoes were exquisite themselves, but that beef short rib was out of this world. It would be unfair to serve that to someone that has never had short rib before as any short rib they have thereafter would be a letdown. From start to finish there wasn't a single aspect of the entire evening and experience that I could find something to complain about. My wife and I were not only delighted and impressed, but already looking forward to returning the next time and we hadn't even paid our bill yet. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later! read more

This review is based on a lunch time Sunday visit with what I would call the B squad staffing. After a much anticipated visit to double barrel steak house our experience was less than average. I've frequented other David Burke properties in nyc and ct and have never had such a meh experience. While the food was cooked to perfection and was as fresh as can be, our experience was an extreme let down. Underwhelming at best. I must note that it was summer time and I am hoping it was temporary staffing due to staffing issues that have plagued the country. The ambience was eclectic per usual with any David Burke property. This establishment is located on quite a facility to begin with, but just a tad a snuffy.(you'll see what I mean if you visit) The Preserves in RI formally owned by the ocean house is out of this world but you can feel like your slightly out of place if your not a member. That said I would love to attend a golf tournament or skeet shooting event with the boys!!! Ok back to why I'm here...When you're planning splurge on a fancy dining experience such as this, you expect top notch service and NOT wearing your meal due to staff incompetence. In conclusion you will always get a good meal at David Burke's, but if they don't get a solid consistent staff, this may turn out to be a lemon. Good luck!! I hope to see you on Yelp and giving the best review ever!! Cheers read more

All I can say is WOW about this place. It used to be a members place and is now open to the public. From the time you drive into the property you do not feel like you are in Rhode Island. It's like going on a destination without leaving your state. Now onto the restaurant review. We stopped in to just see what was on the menu so we could come another day. While looking at the menu Justin the GM came over and said please stay - why wait for another day. So we stayed for an appetizer and so glad we did. We had the Clothesline Bacon which they do a show at your table for presentation. Hands down some of the best bacon we have had. My husband had an old fashioned to drink. It was brought to us in a smoking box. Presentation for that was great also. Can't wait to come back and try brunch and dinner. Come say hi to Justin and tell him you saw the review on Yelp. read more

Went here for dinner with family today and was not impressed at all. The service was slow food was mediocre at best. For the amount of money you pay I expected a lot more from this restaurant. We had a reservation at 630p and we didn't get our plates until about 8p. The drinks and appetizers were very slow to come out through the 1.5 hours we had before our main course came out. There was hardly anyone at the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered bread service, calamari, and the smoked salmon. The bread was burnt, calamari was all batter and barely any calamari, and the smoked salmon was decent. I ordered a New York Strip and it was the thinnest slice of meat I've had at an upscale restaurant like this. For the price I expected a thick cut. As others have said, this place is not worth the price point and it's trying to be an upscale restaurant but it shouldn't be. The price does not match the service/quality. read more

Eh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either and for the cost, it should have been great. The clothesline bacon was delicious and everything else that we had was just ok. Three of the five at our table ordered steak with a side of whipped potatoes and they were not impressed. While the steaks were cooked to temperature, the two filets and ribeye were not very flavorful. The "whipped potatoes" were grainy and bland. I had the short ribs - the meat itself was tasty, but the pasta and creamy mushroom sauce were also very bland. We didn't fare much better with dessert. The crème brûlée was also just ok. The "award winning" key lime pie was frozen - I don't think that it was supposed to be served that way. I wanted to love this place, but it wasn't worth the hefty bill or the 45 minute drive to get there. read more

So bad. Beautiful location but the food was subpar. The service was so slow as the server told us she was the only one working.... There were 3 tables booked at 1:00pm on a Saturday. We went to celebrate 2 birthdays. Atmosphere- nice, log cabin feel. Beautiful fireplace Service - sadly very slow Food- not great, ordered the bread service as I really wanted to try the gruyere popovers and corn bread - never got it, the "mgr" came over after about 30 minutes and said they were just starting to cook the bread for the day (it was 1:30!) we said not a problem - we would wait for it..... Our entrées were deliver about 20 minutes later- barely warm. We ordered the steak frites, a hamburger and a the chicken sandwich- each was just blah.... Mine was (steak frites w/bernaise sauce) barely warm and the bernaise sauce had almost no flavor. So disappointing. We never got the bread service, when they came by to clear plates they said it would be another 20 minutes. We had them remove it from the bill. All in all it was a huge disappointment. We got there at 12:38 and left at 2:28. $160 bucks later leaving very unhappy. Don't recommend. read more

Visited here with some friends. Glad I didn't have to pay the bill. Overpriced upscale restaurant for the rich. Food is mediocre Just to get through the road, there is a security check point asking all sorts of questions. I joked with the guy and said. Great venue. Great food, service and ambiance. A little expensive but worth it if you like an amazing evening.

I feel bad for the reviewers who had negative experiences. I came here with my girlfriend on my birthday back in August 2023 and all we could say was wow (here I am writing the review months later - that's how much DB stuck out to us). Will certainly be returning for Valentine's day in 2 weeks! It was a Sunday night and there were only a couple other tables. Our server was a nice girl but you could tell she hadn't been in the restaurant industry long -(quiet, a little awkward and shy, not too personable - but that's honestly fine since I've worked in restaurants almost my entire life and get that not everyone is the most extroverted server ever. We ordered a bottle of white wine - the manager walked it to us personally and told us all about it's origins and preferred pairing with foods, which was a very nice addition to the service. He was extremely knowledgeable on not only the wine but the food that we ordered as well, and very friendly too. With the wine, we got the bread service and everything was hot and fresh - the popovers were amazing! In addition, we split the burrata and prosciutto salad which was delicious. For dinner, we split the tomahawk for two and a few sides (I believe the truffle fries and spinach), and we both agreed that it was the BEST steak we have ever had. It was perfectly rare to medium rare and every bite was absolutely tender and juicy. We left extremely happy with the service, ambiance and food, and will surely be returning soon! read more

My husband and I tried Double Barrel Steak on Wednesday night. We were a little disappointed. In all, we were seated in a quiet area in the restaurant which was nice but the table itself was odd. I am not a tall person so that may be the problem but once I sat, the table top came to my chest, I felt like a kid at at the "Adult" table at holidays. We started out with the Lobster Ravioli which were really bland and had very little taste. We finished our starters and our plates where never cleared, so when our entrees came, our dishes where still there. We ordered wine, and our wine came out after our entrees. Just things that should've been done in a different order. We're listening to the sommelier tells us about the wine while our dinner is getting cold. My husband had the short ribs, I had the salmon, both where good and cooked well. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse and my husband had the key lime pie. They were both really good. read more

Underwhelming. Ordered the naked oysters, lobster dumplings and the burrata and prosciutto. The oysters were by far and away the best of the 3. Found a hair on the plate 4 oysters in. Ordered the 60 day aged ribeye and the sesame ginger salmon. The salmon was overcooked and flavorless. The ribeye was cooked to order, med-rare, but that was the extent of it. Only one bite revealed the aging. The steak was served with a severely wilted garnish. Why bother? It would have served better as is. Between the kitchen and the server nobody could recognize this?. I have had better ribeyes at chain restaurants. Dessert was good enough but again, for a supposed high end restaurant, should have been better. Won't go back. read more

Most recently went to Double Barrel on Valentine's Day. We've been before and had chatty waiters and decent service. Definitely overpriced for food that is good, not great. This time, they served us bad champagne. Like cork fell off, came out dark brown with no bubbles. We don't typically say anything, but when asked we mentioned it was likely spoiled. They took it off the receipt and took it away, but never said anything, didn't apologize. Seemed odd? Most other places would've apologized or even comped the other bottle we ordered or dessert? Otherwise we ordered the cesear salad which was a nice size, oysters (had to ask for origin), tomahawk for two (sides were disappointing but steak was good), and sundae (fine). Don't think it was worth the price. Unlikely to come back. read more

Table of 2 dining for brunch at a pre purchased event which fell on Super Bowl Sunday. We were comped the entire event as there was no service for the amount of people it was oversold to. There was a private party of nearly 15 people that walked out. We saw at least 5 other separate parties leave for lack of service. We've never seen anything like it. It was an extremely uncomfortable experience. The entrees we had sat under the heat lamp a little too long and were dry. There were incorrect items given to us and poor excuses. The excuse we got was that people called out for the Bowl or that an enormous amount of staff walked off the job the day prior. If I could give zero stars I would.. overall we have been here a couple of times and there always seems to be this angry man running around. We are guessing he is the boss so never said much but after last night This was unexceptional. We witnessed him using profound language at a server who allowed him to violate her personal space clearly out of fear. We then watched her go grab her bag and leave. We then did the same thing. Today, Mother's Day, my daughter and wife and I went to brunch at the Double Barrel Steak house located in the Preserve Sporting club in Richmond RI. My daughter made the reservation a few months ago and I must admit after reading the Yelp reviews I went with some concern. I will try and structure my review to address some of the negative comments I read in yelp. First the arrival at the security gate, some reviews were negative about the experience. We were greeted like old lost friends. When we explained it was our first visit he replied "you will love it here" and gave us clear directions to the restaurant. Upon arrival at the hostess desk within the restaurant were were immediately seated at a table at a small bar with many mounted animals on the walls. The room was beautiful with wood and stonework. We arrived right at 11 AM opening so it took a few minutes for them to continue setting up. No problem we grabbed a few mimosas and sat down. Our waitress came and introduced herself along with a few extra mimosas. There were several negative comments about slow service. We did not experience this. Our waitress cleared dishes every time she walked by but what I was most impressed by was the management in suits who also bussed tables every time they walked by. You do not see that every day. Now on to the food. Among the 3 of us we sampled, in no particular order; The lobster rolls, Stone crabs, U8 shrimp, Beef tenderloin Eggs Benedict, pork sausage, smoked salmon, lobster Pasta and popovers. This was only 1/2 the items offered! Everything tasted was exceptional. By the way the staff at all the stations were just as friendly and efficient as our waitress. We did have a small issue. When my daughter booked she confirmed they would make omelets. She reconfirmed this a second time. When we arrived, we found this to be incorrect. Not that we needed any additional food but my daughter mentioned this to one of the managers. He apologized and proceeded to have someone make me an omelet. That is excellent service! So, to summarize, friendly efficient staff, exceptional facilities, great food, and problem-solving management who are not afraid the get their hands dirty. We were so impressed that we are researching joining the club. read more

Must say that we came here not knowing what we were in for. We just wanted a good steak dinner and recognized the David Burke name so thought we would give it a try. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the wedge salad, it wasn't your typical wedge but none the less, delicious. We all had the rib eye steak that were cooked and seasoned to perfection. They didn't have enough steak so one got the New York strip. We finished off with dessert of lava cake, cheesecake, rum pecan pie and chocolate cake. The service was impeccable. We came as we were which I do NOT recommend. There is definitely a dress code that we were not aware of and I do not recommend bringing small children, Even though they do have highchairs, coloring books and fun glasses for children the ambiance here is definitely for adults. read more
