To start every meal from here should start and finish with their beans. They should be a meal all by themselves! The cornbread... oh the cornbread.... On the menu it, like the beans (bbq beans), just says something like cheddar cornbread but it's so much more than that! It's dense it's surely not over cooked and the two should and could be a meal. Then there's the meals!! We've been here twice now. We drive from east scottsdale just to go here. It's the best bbq in the state I'm convinced. My wife had the green chili pork which was great. It was just like my mom use to make. Rather thick and the pork was really tender. I had the bbq platter with brisket and pork. Their brisket is to die for. Smokey, tender and not filled with fat. I could (and did) cut it with my fork. They give you several options for sauce. I prefer their sassy one. It's just good! Anyway did I mention the beans!? Oh and their cornbread? Jerome, AZ is unique unto itself. As you walk through the streets, you can't help but notice the incredible smoke that wafts throughout. We knew that good barbecue was in order. As we approached the host stand, we were greeted by a friendly and accommodating hostess. She asked us if we preferred indoor or outdoor dining. It was a beautiful day and we were warned that the outdoor space had some bees and flies due to the abundance of the restaurants house-made barbecue sauces. The bees & flies weren't really an issue, especially since they have some large fans that blow the critters away. It was worth it to sit outside! We ordered onion rings and fries for the table after realizing that everyone at the table wanted to try them, but also wanted other sides. The onion rings are beer battered and served with a barbecue mayo sauce. The fries are dusted with the sweet bbq rub... to die for! Our meals were all delicious, but we especially appreciated our incredible server, Bonny. She explained her favorites on the menu and detailed each sauce, including the fact that you can order the sauces to go, or online. Bonny made our experience perfect, and we are so appreciative! Came out to wander Jerome and see the sights. I could smell the wood burning all over town so naturally had to go eat. Got the ribs, fries, and corn bread. Ribs could have been a tiny bit more tender but they were still very good when I drizzled their tangy bbq sauce onto them. Fries were a bit over seasoned for my taste but the cornbread was big and delicious so I didnt eat many fries anyways. Only reason I put 4 instead of 5 star is the service was a little slow, then the server said he'd fix one of our orders right after he took the next tables order...but then he took a second tables order!!! Like wtf dude? 3 of us are eating and the 4th is just sitting there waiting to get her meal fixed. The Corn Bread!!!!!!!!! Walking around Jerome and the smell of BBQ lifted us off our feet and swept us into the little bbq joint. There was a lady at the door taking names and she would holler your name when the table was ready. We happed to get luck and find a seat at the bar and the only down side to sitting inside is you leave smelling like the most amazing bbq and are hungry all day. Honestly, some of the best BBQ I've had in my life! Definitely wasn't expecting to find this place in Arizona! Bobby D's could put most other eateries to shame in a tourist town, whether or not they serve BBQ. Seriously, this was good BBQ that I wouldn't have expected out of the South. Prices were super affordable and the food was absolutely delicious. I could have eaten a whole pan of the cornbread alone! Service was very friendly as well, catching me off guard since I rarely get that in tourist towns. We enjoyed a seat outside on the patio and watched the people wandering by while eating our lunch. Jerome's best bbq spot! Jerome is a copper-mining town that has cute boutique stores and we stumbled upon this BBQ place for lunch. The smell of the BBQ made us take back a reservation at another restaurant. It was really busy inside but we luckily were seated right away. They have three different seating areas: indoors, indoor deck, and outdoor deck. We were seated at the indoor deck and our waitress was phenomenal! She was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the brisket platter with seasoned fries and cornbread to share. The platter wasn't too big but it was enough to satisfy both of us. The brisket fats are cut off twice so I was a little concerned if it would be tender. Our waitress was right, it was soft as butter! I do wish it had more fat on but it definitely was tender but not as juicy. The cornbread was nothing spectacular but seasoned fries is a must! I would recommend stopping by when you have a chance. The bbq ranch dressing on the side made the salad. We shared the cornbread, which was more like a dense cake. It was good and we took home to heat back up in the oven. After ordering from the bar and watching food come out with confusion for every table we finally got our tray. The vapid server mumbled something and stating that she would be back with the house bbq sauces, after 15 minutes I took the sauce bottles from a table that left. Then I had to engage the other server who was hitting the vape and ask to bring out the rest of our order. The restaurant was not busy and it was in between rush hours. The original server never came back to check on the table while I saw her and three others hitting a vape. I don't care what anyone does but do your job at the least not the least of your job. This has been our go-to place to eat when we plan a day trip to Jerome from NW Phoenix since 2015. But, as the saying goes, all good things eventually come to an end. I get things have increased in price because of COVID and this joke of an Administration, but should that also mean service should decline, too? And what's with the 12% service charge for ordering at the counter?? Which, btw, is the only way TO order now if you want to eat there. And, or course you won't know that until after you pay and specifically ask for an itemized receipt. Of course, after I also left a tip...shame on me for that. So, instead of being waited on, you now have to essentially do all the work (except for them bring out the food and drinks) right down to getting your own silverware, plate and napkins, you get a 12% charge for a whole lot less service. Their website makes this statement "Our goal is to satisfy 100% of our guests, 100% of the time, the right way: by delivering exceptional service, a unique atmosphere and amazing food." Well, you have failed miserably at this now. We, sadly, won't be back. And I'll be sure to let all my Phoenix friends know that Bobby D is more about making a killing off their customers as opposed to making sure they feel compelled to come back. We visited Jerome, AZ and had read about Bobby D's BBQ so it was in our list of places to check out. Once we arrived to Jerome, oh boy !! What a busy little town !! Traffic was crazy and parking hard to find. We found somewhere to park few minutes away and just walked back into town. It was not far but the steep slopes and non-existent sidewalks made it for an interesting walk. Once we arrived to Bobby Ds, there was about a 15 minute walk which we were ok with. They also let us have our dog in the small outside sitting area so that was great. We were shown to our table and quickly visited by our waitress. She even brought a bowl of water for our dog, it was a hot sunny day and the nice cold water was great for him. I ordered the "dark spicy chicken" with cornbread and fries with a lemonade. The chicken was ok, I think it had too much bbq sauce to my taste and the chicken didn't really have much flavor on its own if it was not for the sauce. The only thing that made the dish "spicy" was the jalapeños that were mixed with the bbq sauce and slapped on the chicken but again, the chicken didn't have much flavor on its own. The fires were yummy, battered seasoned fries and they were delicious. The cornbread was pretty good as well. The lemonade was very good and refreshing and I went for a second dose of it. I'll admit I was a little skeptical and afraid this might turn out to be a tourist trap. I was very happy to be wrong and never thought I'd have one of the best BBQ meals I've had in a long time right in the middle of Arizona. The ribs were amazing, just right without being too tender or too tough with just the right amount of sauce. The beans were excellent as well with a bit of a chili flavor and since I hadn't had a salad in days I tried their side salad and was impressed with that as well. The chipotle lime dressing is worth a try. Be sure and check out their sauces on the tables too and try them all, you can't go wrong with any of them. Even the sweet tea is spot on and the service is so friendly that it makes you think you're back in the south. Yes, 5-Stars! This place completely lived up to its hype. It's supposed to be the oldest restaurant I'm Arizona. I can believe it, since this fascinating town of Jerome was founded in 1875! We had the smoked brisket reuben (a great new take on an old idea) and the J-Man pulled pork sandwich. Both were sumptuous and satisfying and smoked to perfection. They were served with the best baked beans I've ever had in my life... perfect sweetness and smokiness, loaded with strips of pulled pork and the beans just melted in my mouth. There were a wide variety of specially-made, in-house sauces at the table to choose from too!
