We went up to Jerome Arizona. Decided to try Bobby D's BBQ. Learned that this place is the oldest restaurant in Jerome. They have their microbrew beers. And I had flight with 4- 5 ounces glass. El Diablo, Belfry Marzen, blasphemous berry and cherry sour ale, and batty blonde are beers that I ordered. I like El Diablo the best. I ordered beef brisket with baked beans. This sandwich was very good. My brother ordered Rueben. He said it was good too. Glad to try this place since it has history in this place. Thank you for hospitality
Everything about this place was fantastic! Especially our server, Felix! Explain everything to us quickly. Our food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. As far as dessert goes. We had the peanut butter cheesecake thing and it was awesome! Also enjoyed the sliders very much as far as the sauces go I enjoyed the jalapeño molasses and the lil miss Tang
Service was friendly and quick. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Only one restroom was working and the towel dispenser in there was broken. The prices have gone up considerably since we were there, but that's happened everywhere. The side salad ($4) had lots of yummy fresh ingredients--mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, cheese. The ranch dressing was tasty when used as a dip for fries, but didn't seem to have much flavor on the salad. The meats (dark chicken and pork) were ok, but not spectacular. The skin on the chicken was slathered with bbq sauce, but the meat itself was pretty bland, although it was very tender. The pork had some sweet sauce that detracted from the smokiness of the meat. The fries were excellent. The cornbread tasty and covered in melted butter. For the cost, we'd probably try a different place next time.
Disclaimer: I rarely, if ever, give 5 stars. There is ALWAYS room for improvement. That said, a friend and I spent the day in Jerome. We are local VV residents, but Jerome is a treat and in my opinion, not a daily adventure. I've been reading reviews on Bobby D's for some time so we decided to try it. Started off with drinks - local Belfrey Brewery IPA and the Jerome Donkey??? Good bourbon old fashion with a twist. Entrees were the AZ Cheesesteak and the Big J. We split the sandwiches which were huge! Both of us opted for the baked beans, which were FAB! Pieces of brisket and flavored perfectly! The pulled pork and slaw in the Big J were awesome! Pieces in apple really make the slaw and the pork's was beyond generous. The Carolina style sauce is perfect with the pork. The brisket was again, plentiful. I did find a large piece of fat, but I can overlook that based on the quality of the meat. Tried all the sauces and loved them all! We also had the fried zucchini, which was breaded just right, tasty and served with a top notch homemade ranch. We sat in the outdoor patio and watched Main Street. They have daily specials and live music. My only complaint with Jerome is the parking but we lucked out that day, lol. Service was good, our server Jose offered suggestions and recommendations. Overall, just a cute, laidback venue with awesome food and libations. There are lots of restaurants in Jerome for its size...this is a good start for the Jerome foodie scene!
I've always wanted to eat here, but of course we already had our favorite spot for when in Jerome... Today I somehow convinced my husband to try it with me and so we took our chances and stopped in for lunch. It was a Sunday afternoon and we got lucky and scored a nice table on the outside patio which is dog-friendly. Service was actually decent, but sadly, I can't (and won't) rave over the food. Smoked BBQ is what drove me here and though my preference is to have a spicy BBQ sauce available, this place didn't really meet my expectation. My husband ordered the Smoked Reuben sandwich, which was made with beef brisket as opposed to the traditional corned beef. He said it was good (or he was very hungry because he ate that thing in speed time!), but it could've used more flavor. I had to agree because my brisket sandwich was very bland. I mean the meat was super tender, but it lacked flavor. I added one of the bbq sauces, but even then, it was bland. . I actually only ate half of mine and was done, due to not being overly thrilled by it. Our server did bring out a six-pack of sauce choices, but I really wish there had been a spicy BBQ. So much for the food... So now, about the location itself. They do smoke their meats in an outside smoker and as we were sitting down eating we happened to have a table that overlooked the area where the smoker was located under a gigantic tree. I think what turned me off is witnessing a young man come out and retrieve two trays of bacon from the smoker and he placed the first one on a table (a very dirty table!) and then stacked the second tray on top of the first tray! All I could imagine is how dirty the bottoms of all them trays are if they are setting them down on that gross surface! I was immediately turned off!!! Because of this, I honestly can say, I will not be eating there again! Anyway, $60 later (inc. tip) and for that price all I can say is that we now know what we know and we will not be back.
The brisket was ok. Fatty and smoked. It was tender and small serving. The place is old and charming. Price is on the high side.
Have been to Bobby Ds several times in the past, I'm a return customer. Our group of 7 stopped in on Sunday after a long days jeep excursion, hungry and looking forward to some good eats. While our waiter was quite accommodating and pleasant the food experience was not of quality previously experienced nor equal to the expense. The 4 orders of Zucchini were over cooked and the burger was lack luster. I shared with my waiter the lack of protein content on my sandwich and asked for a side of meat. Kudos for providing a second sandwich however there wasn't much more than a few oz of brisket and the balance was fat. The brisket portion on the other sandwichs also primarily consisted of fat. It would have been much better to tell us you were out of brisket. Can't say I'll be back nor will the others.
Popped into Bobby D's while on a day-trip to Jerome. Just like almost every place in Jerome, it's a hodgepodge of rooms with uneven flooring and fixtures that have likely been in place for a century, but they do have fun (if not rickety) patio from which you can observe the comings and goings of the colorful locals and tourists. We ordered a couple of AZ beers on draft as well as the BBQ Burger and Brisket Sandwich. Neither comes WITH a side, so be sure to add those on if you want them. The food came out fast and the server was friendly, bringing us an assortment of sauces for dipping and drenching. The burger was tender and basic, with a butter brioche bun, thin and super crispy bacon, and a couple of onion rings stacked on top. It also came with a side of some sort of queso which I passed on. No lettuce or tomatoes, but that didn't bother me at all. My friend ordered the brisket sand, which again, was plain but tasty (although a little too fatty). Overall good if you're looking for an easy and salty quick meal in Jerome.
So right off the bat your on the side of Mingus Mtn in Jerome (nuff said about that). My wife and I both got drafts and they were ICE COLD, a must for draft beer. I was torn bc I love brisket, but I also love ribs. PROBLEM SOLVED. They have a rib platter that comes with choice of other meat. BOOM brisket baby! The ribs and the brisket were amazing! My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and it was gimongo! The sauces were great too. Their signature crowd favorite, jalapeño molasses, was the best! The flavor of jalapeño, but not all the heat. This is a definite "put it on your list" eatery. We drove from downtown Sedona and it's well worth the drive!
Bobby D's reminds me of Texas. This is a little slice of barbecue Heaven located in Jerome, AZ. The brisket was A little fatty but it was delicious. When visiting Jerome, my recommendation for food will always be Bobby D's no matter what anybody else tries to tell me! Whenever brisket is on the menu, you better believe that's what I'm getting!

Surprisingly this visit we had no wait! Diago our server was so nice and friendly. Food was good. The onion rings were near perfectly cooked and battered. My taco trio was a little light on the ratio of meat but the cook was so super, great Flavor. My wife's salad was a great healthy menu option. Kids menu had several options. Enjoyed our Lunch and We Will return! read more

I'll start with the positives; we were greeted immediately and guided to a clean indoor picnic table and our host turned out being our very attentive server. It was a cool afternoon and patio dining was available. This is a quaint little place, with a 'good' reputation. Great selection of local beers, and a robust wine selection both local and international. I had a local Belfry's Mexican lager, the Dl Diablo, which was excellent and served in a small mason jar. The better half had a Chilean Chardonnay which she enjoyed. I had the AZ Cheesesteak, which was a disappointment. The meat was flavorless, and the amount of fat was equivalent to a slider. I had the BBQ beans which were awesome, reflecting I should of had just the beans and beer. My best had the shredded chicken sandwich, the meat was rubbery tough and tasteless as well. Her coleslaw was a disappointment, seemingly cabbage and carrots without any distinct hint of Mayo, vinegar or other seasonings. We were unable to revive the meats with their multiple sauce selections... it's a shame, we've read some good reviews and there's a dearth of BBQ places, but it was a miss for us today. read more

I come here often, love the food, however, today the way you order has changed, have to order inside, rather than at the table, I hope this is just for Halloween, not the new way of of ordering permanently. May sound petty, but ordering and being served like a human was a much better way! Again, just love the food and the servers, amazing!.... read more
To start every meal from here should start and finish with their beans. They should be a meal all by themselves! The cornbread... oh the cornbread.... On the menu it, like the beans (bbq beans), just says something like cheddar cornbread but it's so much more than that! It's dense it's surely not over cooked and the two should and could be a meal. Then there's the meals!! We've been here twice now. We drive from east scottsdale just to go here. It's the best bbq in the state I'm convinced. My wife had the green chili pork which was great. It was just like my mom use to make. Rather thick and the pork was really tender. I had the bbq platter with brisket and pork. Their brisket is to die for. Smokey, tender and not filled with fat. I could (and did) cut it with my fork. They give you several options for sauce. I prefer their sassy one. It's just good! Anyway did I mention the beans!? Oh and their cornbread? We actually have taken both home each time so we had extra. Would it be healthy to eat beans 3x a day? Because I would. Mmmm bbq beans for breakfast. That sounds like a Cowboy thing lol. read more

Jerome, AZ is unique unto itself. As you walk through the streets, you can't help but notice the incredible smoke that wafts throughout. We knew that good barbecue was in order. As we approached the host stand, we were greeted by a friendly and accommodating hostess. She asked us if we preferred indoor or outdoor dining. It was a beautiful day and we were warned that the outdoor space had some bees and flies due to the abundance of the restaurants house-made barbecue sauces. The bees & flies weren't really an issue, especially since they have some large fans that blow the critters away. It was worth it to sit outside! We ordered onion rings and fries for the table after realizing that everyone at the table wanted to try them, but also wanted other sides. The onion rings are beer battered and served with a barbecue mayo sauce. The fries are dusted with the sweet bbq rub... to die for! Our meals were all delicious, but we especially appreciated our incredible server, Bonny. She explained her favorites on the menu and detailed each sauce, including the fact that you can order the sauces to go, or online. Bonny made our experience perfect, and we are so appreciative! All in all, this BBQ place doesn't let down. It's a must-visit when you're in Jerome! read more
The Corn Bread!!!!!!!!! Walking around Jerome and the smell of BBQ lifted us off our feet and swept us into the little bbq joint. There was a lady at the door taking names and she would holler your name when the table was ready. We happed to get luck and find a seat at the bar and the only down side to sitting inside is you leave smelling like the most amazing bbq and are hungry all day. The great side was we got to pretty much watch everything that came out of the kitchen and it all looked amazing. Not being a meat eater it wasn't really the spot for me but I always find something so I have the salad and the dressing was amazing along with the most amazing jalapeño corn bread I've ever had. Chad had the tacos and he said they were freakin amazing and they really did smell it. !!! read more
Honestly, some of the best BBQ I've had in my life! Definitely wasn't expecting to find this place in Arizona! Bobby D's could put most other eateries to shame in a tourist town, whether or not they serve BBQ. Seriously, this was good BBQ that I wouldn't have expected out of the South. Prices were super affordable and the food was absolutely delicious. I could have eaten a whole pan of the cornbread alone! Service was very friendly as well, catching me off guard since I rarely get that in tourist towns. We enjoyed a seat outside on the patio and watched the people wandering by while eating our lunch. It was fun to watch them look around as they'd catch a whiff of the smoker! Bobby D's really blew us away overall and we'd definitely recommend a visit when you're in Jerome! read more
Jerome's best bbq spot! Jerome is a copper-mining town that has cute boutique stores and we stumbled upon this BBQ place for lunch. The smell of the BBQ made us take back a reservation at another restaurant. It was really busy inside but we luckily were seated right away. They have three different seating areas: indoors, indoor deck, and outdoor deck. We were seated at the indoor deck and our waitress was phenomenal! She was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the brisket platter with seasoned fries and cornbread to share. The platter wasn't too big but it was enough to satisfy both of us. The brisket fats are cut off twice so I was a little concerned if it would be tender. Our waitress was right, it was soft as butter! I do wish it had more fat on but it definitely was tender but not as juicy. The cornbread was nothing spectacular but seasoned fries is a must! I would recommend stopping by when you have a chance. Enjoy the little town Jerome has to offer and try out their BBQ with their amazing sauces. read more

Only ones there. The place could use some serious cleaning and some maintenance. FLIES everywhere! Don't like the self service style but we stayed anyway. Had my order all figured out and had to keep repeating it. So much for self service. If you need something more you have to get up and get it. Drinks and food came quick. Sandwiches were good but that's all you get. No sides? Not even chips? $56 for what you see in the picture lol. There are other places to try next time. read more

Smoked meat. Need I say more? Not too much, not too little. The wind carried the smoke downhill and I knew this place wouldn't disappoint. I ordered a Prickly Pear Margarita to start. It was on the smaller side for the price, IMO but it hit the spot in the Jerome heat. The Q: The meat came sauced. I would ask if they can leave it off next time so customers can get the flavor of their awesome sauces without interference. I ordered the two meat plate with brisket and sliced chicken. Both were extremely tender, especially the brisket - fell apart with a fork. My friend ordered the Arizona cheesesteak piled high with meat, cheese, and peppers. Sides: Fries were thick, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Nice thick slabs of green chili cornbread. A little on the dense side but tasted great. The other sides sounded delicious and I will definitely try next time. Sauces: I forgot the names and ingredients but others have posted pictures. 3 - tangy, jalapeño, and a garlic mustard. More wet than thick but probably the best I've ever had. I plan on ordering them online! Service: No complaints. Practically a quintessential BBQ experience. The backyard decor with wooden picnic benches, smokey aromas, checker-lined metal trays and mason jar glasses fit with the small western mining themed town. Park in the lower two lots and walk a short ways. read more
We were passing by the town of Jerome, AZ and saw this BBQ joint. It was a Saturday and the town was PACKED! We had our dog with us and were happy to know that the patio area is dog-friendly. Despite the amount of people there, the wait time was really fast. We were seated and our waitress took our order quickly. I had a lemonade with the Cuban King sandwich. It's like a BBQ version of a Cuban sandwich. It was interesting. The fries were really good. They were seasoned and lightly battered which gave it a sweet and salty taste. read more
Our lunch before heading to Arcosanti... Despite the breeze the patio seating was comfy and Lucy helped make it a great food and drink experience... We shared a Reuben, fantastic fries, onion rings.. the sauce collection helped a LOT in spicing things up a bit more... Light ale and root beer to complete the picture. Highly recommended! read more

Great BBQ and great service. I got the chicken salad and it was great, my husband got the brisket and it was delicious too. My son got a burger and said it was good, I didn't try it so can't say. I wish we would have sat in booth 3! A historical building with so much history and great food and service. Definitely a must if you stop in Jerome. We went at 1130 and no line. read more

If you enjoy grossly overpriced mediocre BBQ this is your place!!! The brisket was well smoked, not over done but really lacked flavor. Slaw was also bland but the shining star here is their baked beans. Smokey, spicy, sweet & delicious the AZ red sauce was quite too!! read more

Good sauces, great mac and cheese, meats also good although not nearly as flavorful as what I smoke at home. 1lb Brisket 1lbPulled Pork Platter 2 orders of Corn Bread (4 total large pieces) Lg BBQ Beans Lg Mac & cheese Overall good, 4.5ish stars but just north of $100 + an automatic 12pct service fee is added...which is fine but I'm not tossing another 15-20pct tip on top esp since it's a setup where orders are placed at the counter, not tables. Still no regrets as we were hungry and food was ready quickly. read more
Oh my Goodness! Some of the best bbq we have had! So filling and I just had the salad! The salad with brisket was so good, black beans, tomato, cheese. The bbq ranch dressing on the side made the salad. We shared the cornbread, which was more like a dense cake. It was good and we took home to heat back up in the oven. The side fries were seasoned and cooked crispy. The sides of baked beans were delicious and some of the best we've had. The brisket Reuben was unique with fresh made sauerkraut. Very good the big boy sandwich was full Of meat and more than enough for two people to share. They have several bbq sauces on the table to try. For drinks the cactini was very flavorful and refreshing. I chose the Bloody Mary, this was the best I've had in months. A hint of bbq taste, garnished with a pepper sausage chunk, olive, jalapeño, lime and pickled onion. Surprisingly smooth and light with a robust flavor. Overall this was a great meal, very filling and a nice change from your standard restaurants. Change your pace and eat here while in Jerome. read more

Oh my god. Visiting from California, this is some of the best BBQ we've ever tried. Ribs, tacos, chicken, slaw, fries, the house sauces - everything excellent and to die for. read more
We visited Jerome, AZ and had read about Bobby D's BBQ so it was in our list of places to check out. Once we arrived to Jerome, oh boy !! What a busy little town !! Traffic was crazy and parking hard to find. We found somewhere to park few minutes away and just walked back into town. It was not far but the steep slopes and non-existent sidewalks made it for an interesting walk. Once we arrived to Bobby Ds, there was about a 15 minute walk which we were ok with. They also let us have our dog in the small outside sitting area so that was great. We were shown to our table and quickly visited by our waitress. She even brought a bowl of water for our dog, it was a hot sunny day and the nice cold water was great for him. I ordered the "dark spicy chicken" with cornbread and fries with a lemonade. The chicken was ok, I think it had too much bbq sauce to my taste and the chicken didn't really have much flavor on its own if it was not for the sauce. The only thing that made the dish "spicy" was the jalapeños that were mixed with the bbq sauce and slapped on the chicken but again, the chicken didn't have much flavor on its own. The fires were yummy, battered seasoned fries and they were delicious. The cornbread was pretty good as well. The lemonade was very good and refreshing and I went for a second dose of it. I didn't finished my chicken. It just didn't do it for me. The staff was great, prompt and friendly service. read more
Bobby D's is located in Jerome. A very fun little mountain town just 25 minutes from Sedona. Bobby D's has indoor seating and seating out on their deck. The bbq is some of the best bbq I've had, especially the brisket. Delicious! Their onion rings, pulled pork and prickly pear sweet tea are also great. Bonny was our server and she was awesome. I highly recommend this place. read more

We were seated right when they opened and got a table on the patio. I tried the Rib Plate with brisket, cornbread, and coleslaw. My favorite sauces were the Jalapeño Molasses and Arizona Red which were mildly spicy and sweet. I actually really enjoyed the side of seasoned fries which were extra crispy and didn't need ketchup. The prickly pear lemonade was great and came with free refills. The cornbread was savory with cheese and green chilis(?) mixed in. Overall, the food here was pretty good but pricey. read more

Omg Guy Fieri talked about this so place and so of course we had to come! Being from Texas the state of bbq of course coming in with an eyebrow raise do how good the bbq is. Our server Austin was amazing and helpful- let's get to the food!! The wings were delicious- everything was non stop flavor from the ribs to the sandwiches- the fries were even great- baked beans on point- seriously stop here wish the time it takes to get in and enjoy the food! I'll admit I was a little skeptical and afraid this might turn out to be a tourist trap. I was very happy to be wrong and never thought I'd have one of the best BBQ meals I've had in a long time right in the middle of Arizona. The ribs were amazing, just right without being too tender or too tough with just the right amount of sauce. The beans were excellent as well with a bit of a chili flavor and since I hadn't had a salad in days I tried their side salad and was impressed with that as well. The chipotle lime dressing is worth a try. Be sure and check out their sauces on the tables too and try them all, you can't go wrong with any of them. Even the sweet tea is spot on and the service is so friendly that it makes you think you're back in the south. It's worth a trip to Jerome just to eat here so be sure and check it out if you're in town. read more

This place will wow you before you even try their food! The small of the fresh grilling BBQ outside will engulf you as you walk around the town of Jerome, and it will bring you here to Bobby D's. You won't regret it because as good as this food smells, it's delicious too! The brisket is juicy, flavorful, and will melt right in your mouth! My favorite part of the experience was that they offer you all of their BBQ flavors on the table. They recommend you try each one and decide for yourself which is your favorite. I ended up mixing several together because they are all so good and compliment each other very well. The staff is very friendly and quick to service. They have seating both inside and outside. We were lucky enough to sit inside near the bar, which is an experience all in its own! We fell in love with the small town of Jerome, and Bobby D's is one of the establishments that brings the city it's true charm. I highly recommend following your sense of smell and eating at Bobby D's because you won't regret it! read more

It was unusually warm the day we went. The food was very good but it was uncomfortable on the patio and there were lots of flies. We had to cover our food between bites, and one of our group didn't cover her drink right away, a big flew in it. They didn't get 1 order right but quickly corrected it and took 10% off our total. It must be a lovely place when. Temperature Is lower. The view was very nice and staff was very attentive. I'd like to try again read more
