Really had a super fun lunch here on a day trip to Jerome with some longtime college friends. Very friendly attentive server Bonny Jean was great helping us. We went up to Jerome Arizona. Decided to try Bobby D's BBQ. Learned that this place is the oldest restaurant in Jerome. They have their microbrew beers. And I had flight with 4- 5 ounces glass. El Diablo, Belfry Marzen, blasphemous berry and cherry sour ale, and batty blonde are beers that I ordered. I like El Diablo the best. I ordered beef brisket with baked beans. Service was friendly and quick. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Only one restroom was working and the towel dispenser in there was broken. The prices have gone up considerably since we were there, but that's happened everywhere. The side salad ($4) had lots of yummy fresh ingredients--mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, cheese. The ranch dressing was tasty when used as a dip for fries, but didn't seem to have much flavor on the salad. The meats (dark chicken and pork) were ok, but not spectacular. The skin on the chicken was slathered with bbq sauce, but the meat itself was pretty bland, although it was very tender. The pork had some sweet sauce that detracted from the smokiness of the meat. The fries were excellent. The cornbread tasty and covered in melted butter. For the cost, we'd probably try a different place next time. read more

Disclaimer: I rarely, if ever, give 5 stars. There is ALWAYS room for improvement. That said, a friend and I spent the day in Jerome. We are local VV residents, but Jerome is a treat and in my opinion, not a daily adventure. I've been reading reviews on Bobby D's for some time so we decided to try it. Started off with drinks - local Belfrey Brewery IPA and the Jerome Donkey??? Good bourbon old fashion with a twist. Entrees were the AZ Cheesesteak and the Big J. We split the sandwiches which were huge! Both of us opted for the baked beans, which were FAB! Pieces of brisket and flavored perfectly! The pulled pork and slaw in the Big J were awesome! Pieces in apple really make the slaw and the pork's was beyond generous. The Carolina style sauce is perfect with the pork. The brisket was again, plentiful. I did find a large piece of fat, but I can overlook that based on the quality of the meat. Tried all the sauces and loved them all! We also had the fried zucchini, which was breaded just right, tasty and served with a top notch homemade ranch. We sat in the outdoor patio and watched Main Street. They have daily specials and live music. My only complaint with Jerome is the parking but we lucked out that day, lol. Service was good, our server Jose offered suggestions and recommendations. Overall, just a cute, laidback venue with awesome food and libations. There are lots of restaurants in Jerome for its size...this is a good start for the Jerome foodie scene! read more

FAT !! Always liked this place in Jerome. Ordered 2 brisket sandwiches, asked for " lean". Both were 50% fat. We piled it on a napkin because it was so obvious. I've always wanted to eat here, but of course we already had our favorite spot for when in Jerome... Today I somehow convinced my husband to try it with me and so we took our chances and stopped in for lunch. It was a Sunday afternoon and we got lucky and scored a nice table on the outside patio which is dog-friendly. Service was actually decent, but sadly, I can't (and won't) rave over the food. Smoked BBQ is what drove me here and though my preference is to have a spicy BBQ sauce available, this place didn't really meet my expectation. My husband ordered the Smoked Reuben sandwich, which was made with beef brisket as opposed to the traditional corned beef. He said it was good (or he was very hungry because he ate that thing in speed time!), but it could've used more flavor. I had to agree because my brisket sandwich was very bland. I mean the meat was super tender, but it lacked flavor. I added one of the bbq sauces, but even then, it was bland. . I actually only ate half of mine and was done, due to not being overly thrilled by it. Our server did bring out a six-pack of sauce choices, but I really wish there had been a spicy BBQ. So much for the food... So now, about the location itself. They do smoke their meats in an outside smoker and as we were sitting down eating we happened to have a table that overlooked the area where the smoker was located under a gigantic tree. I think what turned me off is witnessing a young man come out and retrieve two trays of bacon from the smoker and he placed the first one on a table (a very dirty table!) and then stacked the second tray on top of the first tray! All I could imagine is how dirty the bottoms of all them trays are if they are setting them down on that gross surface! I was immediately turned off!!! Because of this, I honestly can say, I will not be eating there again! Anyway, $60 later (inc. tip) and for that price all I can say is that we now know what we know and we will not be back. read more

Have been to Bobby Ds several times in the past, I'm a return customer. Our group of 7 stopped in on Sunday after a long days jeep excursion, hungry and looking forward to some good eats. While our waiter was quite accommodating and pleasant the food experience was not of quality previously experienced nor equal to the expense. The 4 orders of Zucchini were over cooked and the burger was lack luster. I shared with my waiter the lack of protein content on my sandwich and asked for a side of meat. Kudos for providing a second sandwich however there wasn't much more than a few oz of brisket and the balance was fat. The brisket portion on the other sandwichs also primarily consisted of fat. It would have been much better to tell us you were out of brisket. Can't say I'll be back nor will the others. read more

Popped into Bobby D's while on a day-trip to Jerome. Just like almost every place in Jerome, it's a hodgepodge of rooms with uneven flooring and fixtures that have likely been in place for a century, but they do have fun (if not rickety) patio from which you can observe the comings and goings of the colorful locals and tourists. We ordered a couple of AZ beers on draft as well as the BBQ Burger and Brisket Sandwich. Neither comes WITH a side, so be sure to add those on if you want them. The food came out fast and the server was friendly, bringing us an assortment of sauces for dipping and drenching. The burger was tender and basic, with a butter brioche bun, thin and super crispy bacon, and a couple of onion rings stacked on top. It also came with a side of some sort of queso which I passed on. No lettuce or tomatoes, but that didn't bother me at all. My friend ordered the brisket sand, which again, was plain but tasty (although a little too fatty). So right off the bat your on the side of Mingus Mtn in Jerome (nuff said about that). My wife and I both got drafts and they were ICE COLD, a must for draft beer. I was torn bc I love brisket, but I also love ribs. PROBLEM SOLVED. They have a rib platter that comes with choice of other meat. BOOM brisket baby! The ribs and the brisket were amazing! My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and it was gimongo! The sauces were great too. Their signature crowd favorite, jalapeño molasses, was the best! The flavor of jalapeño, but not all the heat. My friend and I stopped in yesterday for lunch. The first thing I noticed was the friendly greeting by the bartender/server. He attended to our orders quickly even though it was busy. We split the rib plate with chicken, fried zucchini, coleslaw and cornbread. Upon delivering our food, our server explained all the sauces we could try. Everything was absolutely delicious. The meat was seasoned well and tender and all the sides were great. I really liked the coleslaw with green apples in it. Excellent service - above and beyond and the best bbq I've had in a long time. Ate here after exploring the town of Jerome. Firstly, the smell lingering in the air around the restaurant brought us in. The place inside is smaller, but the back seating area is much bigger. We ordered from the bar area and the food was brought out pretty quickly. I got a beer, which was served in mason jars. The chicken wings were smoky and delicious! It came with Ranch and bbq sauce. They were nicely spiced with a good dry rub. We also got the Cuban sandwich with seasoned fries which was also good, but I thought the wings were better. The only reason I didn't got 5 stars was because the sold out of brisket, which I wanted to try. Not their fault as we went in after lunch hours. Overall good experience with good food. read more

Not too happy about our visit to this restaurant. I am aware that barbecue restaurants cost more money, but at least give your customers a reason to come back or recommend your place. Jerome is a small town with limited choices of places to eat. But if we have to go back, I would not come here again. Very skimpy on their serving portions, the brisket was too dry, and I've never been to a restaurant that gives you such a small amount of fries like this place! Drinks are also overpriced! Smokin good! When I walked past the grill shack I knew it was the real deal. I sat on the pleasant patio and ordered a half rack of babyback ribs. So tender and a kiss of smoke glazed with jalapeno molasses sauce. Did I mention they make all their own bbq sauces?! I accompanied it with the perfect beer batter onion rings. Quenched my thirst with their house red ale. If I had to be critical, the ribs were a touch dry. The cornbread was too dense and had an oily finish. I think the ratios were off in the recipe. Bobby D's is in one of the oldest buildings in Jerome. It used to be called The English Kitchen whose name is still visible on the outside wall. I had lunch there yesterday and walked away believing that they really know how to make bbq right. Inside you walk in to the original dining room with a lot of dark wood and booths and a bar to sit at. This room has a lot of charm. Next you can go into another enclosed room with a lot of windows and tables to eat in and finally there is the outdoor patio mostly covered by a large tarp. I sat on the patio because of the nice weather and ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with baked beans as the side for $16. The food came out about 10 minutes later. The sandwich had plenty of thick sliced brisket on a nice looking bun. While I didn't notice much bark the meat was tender and flavorful. They offer 4 sauces on the table and I liked the jalapeño molasses the best with a hint of sweetness and jalapeño. The sandwich was tasty and filling. The baked beans had A LOT of pulled pork meat in it and was also very good in taste. I enjoyed this meal and would be happy to return. One unique aspect of this restaurant is that behind the restaurant on the open lot is where they keep their bbq smoker under a small shed. First time at Bobby D's BBQ in Jerome, AZ. Arrived in town early and spotted the BBQ Master loading up chicken thigh and leg quarters into the large grill. Smelled the smoke in town throughout the morning and so lunch was a no brainer. I had the half rack of pork ribs, BBQ beans and a jalapenio cornbread. Ate outside on the dog friendly patio. They have at least six different sauces available. The pork ribs were good, the side of beans and cornbread were some of the best. The service here was excellent. We are from Kansas City and love our BBQ. Getting BBQ elsewhere requires good reviews before we try them out. We give high praises to Bobby D's BBQ. We had a fairly warm day for February so we sat outside on the deck. All of the staff seemed to have a truly happy soul and shared it with us. In particular, Lucy B. who took care of us and the lady (I wish I caught her name) who welcomed us with our Golden Retriever and gave us choices of where to sit in the covered or uncovered deck areas. We started with the Screamin Wings. We got them dry (but great seasoning) so we could try all the sauces. We ordered a slab of ribs with fries/slaw & cornbread. The ribs were sooo meaty and filling! We had fun with the sauces and fell in love with the Jalapeno Molasses and bought a bottle to take home. Lastly we got out of our lunch drink rut and got the Prickly Pear Lemonade and Gingerberry Mocktail (blackberry puree, ginger beer, soda, lime). We really enjoyed these drinks. The consensus is to go back when in Jerome, but we have a few other places we like too. I guess we need to stay the entire day I order to get to all our favorites in Jerome. read more

An adorable town on the cliffs with great BBQ to add. We smelled the awesomeness as soon as we exited our car. You seat yourself and when you enter, you'll see the bar with a tasty stout on tap. They were a bit short staffed. Tables were available on the patio, we just needed to wait a bit before one was cleaned. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Just be aware that no COVID precautions are practiced here. Tables are a good distance apart and sitting outside was so enjoyable. We ordered the BBQ Pork sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The pork was delicious! It was super flavorful and tender. I left the buns, way too much butter for my taste. The plate may have been a better bet for me. The onion rings were not worth the upgrade. I didn't care for the coating. We also ordered the Brontosaurus Beef Ribs with Cole Slaw, Cornbread and an added side salad. The ribs were seasoned perfectly! The side salad was delicious and better than the Cole Slaw w/ apples inside. A variety of BBQ sauces are available on the table. I love spicy and sadly not one was offered. I chose to order the brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw. Each table has several bottles of their very own home made sauces. I really like the jalapeno sauce so I used that on my sandwich. The brisket was actually really good. It had a nice smoky flavor and wasn't smothered in any sauce. This gives you the option to choose what sauce to add on the mean and bun. Just ate at Bobby D's BBQ. The server wasn't great; she didn't come and explain all the different sauces which, by the way, were in plastic bottles, the tips of the bottles wen't cleaned and one bottle had no label and the tip of the spout was snipped off! The server had to asked to bring napkins and we weren't even offered water. The zucchini was over fried and refried to a crisp and tasted burnt; even the second order was the same! Very disappointing! The cornbread was way too dense and cold! The brisket was good and it was tender but the ribs could have been cooked some more. It would have been really nice to have wet wipes to clean off our sticky hands. We've eaten here before but today's experience was very disappointing! I would not recommend this to my family or friends who visit from out of town. Lastly, the bathroom was awful! What a gem! I had seen a few people recommend this place and we decided to give it a try! I had the Brisket Sandwich and my boyfriend got the Brontosaurus Ribs. His ribs were huge and full of tender meat. The only thing I will note, though, that the bread on the side (if you get white), is just a buttered piece of bread. My boyfriend was expecting some sort of toast. So I would order the corn bread! The brisket was delicious and enhanced even more by the five different yummy sauces they had. I got a side of coleslaw and beans. The beans had some pulled meat in them which made them extremely hearty. They have a ton of seating both indoor and outdoor; we sat outdoor on their patio and it was shaded and perfectly breezy!
