Our first time here and it was the best meal we had this week. Dinner and 2 cokes was under $50. My girlfriend got the pulled pork and was able to finish about half. I got the 6 rib meal and there was so much meat on each I took half home. The rib meat literally fell off the bone as I picked up the ribs. Some of the best bbq we have ever had. The homemade bbq sauces were also excellent. Top of the list for our vacation next year. read more

The first I ordered the Meet Sampler tray. It was a generous amount of meat for $30, easily shareable with 2 to 3 people. It will make two meals or the two of us. Also had a side of the sweet potato fries. Friendly, high energy place, service is counter pick up, so nothing too special there. Note: Happy hour from 2 to 5 PM Monday through Thursday had good prices on drinks and several appetizers. read more

Really enjoyed the food here; probably the best meal I've had in Sedona during our week long visit! I would even give them five stars if it were not for the weird ordering system that makes you order food and non alcoholic drinks apart from alcohol. We were considering getting cocktails but decided to just get soda because we didn't want to deal with another line and transaction. I imagine other people feel similarly so they may be losing sales due to this odd arrangement. We both had burgers- I had the jalapeño popper burger which was excellent and my fiancé had the cheddar burger. Burgers are so huge and served with a ton of lettuce and tomato and piled high on a brioche bun. The bun and the apricot BBQ sauce were the best. Real jalapeños and cream cheese. A manager came over to chat with me after we finished and we were just finishing up our sodas and she was super nice and cared to hear our feedback. Bathrooms were also very nice and clean. The soda is self serve but we got our burgers very quickly- it is not table service- you retrieve them at the kitchen counter when your number is called on their speaker system. Look forward to returning here! Really nice experience- they also have both indoor and outdoor seating on a patio. read more

Last stop for food in Sedona and this place was recommended by Vineyard tour guide. I was little hesitant because it was a BBQ place for breakfast. Well was I wrong. Nice decor inside and staffs were so friendly. The price was spot on and affordable. Ordered Brisket country hash and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and The Vaquero omelet. Im not a huge omelet fan fun the ingredients sounds good. Food came out pretty fast and they looked yummy. The portions were huge.. I regret ordering so much food. My omelet was so yummy with nice combination of veggies and the brisket. Hashbrowns was also pretty good, nice crispy outside and soft inside. Biscuits and gravy was also very good, and portion was huge. The country hash and eggs was also pretty darn good. Eggs cooked to perfection and brisket was also yummy. I love the different varieties of BBQ sauce and other condiments they had was nice. Habanero BBQ sauce had good flavor and little spice. Over all the food was very good and portions were huge for what you pay. I definitely come back here if or when I come back to Sedona. Over all experience was great. read more

Its a walk-up-and-order type of restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They have outdoor seating with misters. Looks like they never clean those chairs outside, tons of flies everywhere. Great view from the patio of Sedona red rocks, cant complain about that. They have 5 different bbq sauces to choose from and you get as many sides of it as you want. I got the ABc Burger it was pretty good but not mouthwatering delicious. Very fresh and was better with some BBQ sauce or ranch. My partner got the Brisket burger which was cooked very well, it was mouth watering delicious and the best brisket burger he said he has ever had. Mac n cheese was good, but the flavor//spice was not consistent. And very THICK. The flies were annoying but manageable, i guess it comes with the territory? read more

Just trust me. Go here. Holy cow the ribs and burgers are ah-may-zing. It's laid back, great music, and high energy. The people cooking know what they are doing. The first bite of my burger made me pause, mouth full, and just appreciate the immediate satisfaction. Great grilled taste. You'll be happy if you do this like I did. You order at the counter and get your plates when they call your name. It was a fast turn for us, and I didn't see anyone waiting. read more

The food was good! I had the brisket sandwich and baked beans. I wasn't a huge fan of the baked beans though. I also had a bourbon flight. I thought it was reasonably priced. You order at the front and then pick up your food so it's not your normal sit down and be served restaurant. We didn't know that. They have a great selection of food overall on the menu. Folks were nice. And the ambiance is very chill. I love that you can sit outside because the scenery is FABULOUS in the distance. This was the perfect spot after a long day of hiking. read more

We came here for both breakfast and dinner. You order first here and then sit, separate line for alcohol. It was busy when we arrived for dinner, the table we sat at hadn't been swiped down and had bbq sauce on that my husband got on him! For dinner we had the baby back ribs, they weren't fall off the bone as I had hoped more like country style - with all the bbq sauces they had to try, it was kind of a shame they already put sauce on them. My husband got the Philly hoagie which he enjoyed, I think he actually liked his sides the best - potato salad and slaw. I had the smoked Mac and cheese and I must say I am never impressed by restaurant Mac and cheese and same again here. They had a good selection of local AZ beer which we enjoyed, wasn't soo fussed by the cocktail I had. We came for breakfast too, which was a lot more quieter and the prices a lot more reasonable, even cheap you could say. My husband has biscuits and gravy which he enjoyed. I went for the breakfast burrito - which isn't your typical breakfast burrito, the eggs aren't scrambled in the mix, it's layered - tortilla, egg, cheese and then the meats all mixed up. It was pretty big and could have been shared, would have been easier to eat if they had wrapped it in foil - was falling apart. read more

So it's self seating you order at the bar.. btw menus are on the tables or on the bar itself we are not much of the drinking couples but the margaritas look amazingly delicious and they have coke on tap the inside was cute and cozy with Cow print seat omg!!! Adorable I'm mad that I didn't get a chance to get a picture but let me tell you why we came for the food!!! Amazing BBQ I had the turkey club and my hunny had the Jalapeño burger and we shared onions rings the best part about this place is that it has a dog menu!!!! Like stop!!!!! That alone will have me coming back to this place for my pups alone... we sat outside on the patio they do bus the tables for you but you do have to pick up your food when called over the loud speaker 10/10 we will be back for sure!!! read more

Came highly recommended. We expected a nicer place ... had to make 3 trips to get everything to the table. No seat inside and not many outside. It was hot out so would have preferred an inside dining experience. We got the meat sampler and we're underwhelmed. Left alot of iit. Got the ranch beans and mac n cheese. No one like the mac n cheese. Beans were good. The dill pickle was fav part of the meal...turkey was fav meat. . Honestly wouldn't be llikely to return. read more

Colt Grill is fantastic! I had their brisket platter and the brisket was incredible. It was so tender and extremely well cooked. Fantastic flavor! Service was quick and everyone was friendly. They have a wicked sauce bar too so everyone can find their own favorite BBQ sauce. They have a nice choice between indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a nice bar with a couple TVs. If you sit outside you may order more than you think you need because the smell from the smoker is INCREDIBLE. The good, the bad, the ugly... Here we go! First of all, this is an order at the counter and then you get your order and take it to your seat. This is a seat yourself. Larger parties will probably not fit inside (bigger than 4 is a larger party). I'm not sure why yelp shows it is good for larger parties... But you get to find a spot that will work and push the tables together yourself. We are a family of 6. So outside we went... Good: The smoked platter is decent... And they have apple juice for kids...the chairs are comfortable. And that's about it for good. The bad: The kids hamburger was so burnt my son wouldn't eat it. See the pics. The smoked Mac and cheese, which is supposed to be one of the popular items was not very good at all. The child chicken tenders were pounded so thin, I'm not sure there was more meat than breading (again, see pics), and when you order something one way it isn't guaranteed you will get it that way. The ugly: if you don't come the second they call your number, they will continue to call it every 1-2 seconds (no joke), louder each time, and then add your name to the number and keep calling it.. full experience below. We chose this place because of the raving reviews. They also had children options on their menu. Also I was impressed at what one person said about their customer service... Maybe they had a good day, but the day we went.. those individuals were NOT working. My husband and I came in with our 4 children. One is ASD and the youngest had just need potty trained. We went to order and I explained my son who is autistic didn't want the friend chicken sandwich, only the chicken. I asked if that was possible. She assured me it was and so we ordered it. We also ordered... Smoked Mac and cheese, basket of sweet potato fries, basket of regular fries, small smoked brisket, smoked meat sampler, child cheeseburger and fries, child chicken tenders and fries, 3 sodas, 1 apple juice, 1 lemonade specialty drink, and one beer. After ordering, my husband and I were going back and forth from outside to inside (there was no room for 6 inside... Only outside around the corner of the door) getting drinks... Soon my 3 yr old who has recently potty trained announced he had to go #2. Now if you are a parent, you understand how big of a deal this is.. so I go to take him to the bathroom. While inside, our number is called. Now I can't rush my 3 yr old (though I tried the more stressed I became)... And they proceeded to call our number every 1-2 seconds, getting louder every time and then added my name to it. When my son was finally done in the restroom, I rushed out very very frazzled and explained we were in the bathroom. Come to find out, even though they were calling our number incessantly... Our full order want even ready. The Mac and cheese was placed out as we had already taken the other food out and I had happened to go back in for some sauce. So at this point, I'm stressed, trying to get the other things we need to eat... And finally get back to the table. That's when we discovered the burnt hamburger (my son had maybe a bite or two), the flat chicken tenders (if you can call them chicken with as little meat as there was), and the fact that they didn't make the one accommodation I had asked for but gave us the whole fried chicken sandwich. Needless to say, we won't be back. Anyone with small children or special needs children.. I wouldn't recommend coming here. We definitely won't be back. read more

Not sure this place can handle the March Sedona volume. Chaos, cramped interior and after being open for quite some time - the short cuts are obvious. Jerky texture ribs and although we ordered 'Rich' (vs. lean) brisket, it was still over done. Our first day in the Sedona area we were starving and ran across Colt Grill in a strip mall in Oak Creek near where we were staying. This is a walk-up take out barbecue restaurant that has some indoor seating. My husband had a burger with cheese, bacon and avocado. I had the brisket tacos. As mentioned you walk up and place your order, pay and wait for your number to be called. We placed our order and waited, we waited a while. We decided to sit inside and eat at the restaurant. The wait seemed to take longer than necessary frankly, the place wasn't busy. That was my concern, it took way to long for what was produced. Our number was eventually called, the food was hot and was good. My tacos were good. My husband's burger was good. Neither were great... read more

Ordered take out because we were just across the street at a hotel. The order was ready faster than I expected. They forgot to add all of the sauces we ordered and if I didn't remind them about our dessert then that would have been forgotten as well. The only thing that was somewhat edible was the burger and cookie. My kid loved it. I don't think I've eaten a worse brisket in my life. It was obviously taken off the smoker too soon because the fat hadn't fully rendered yet. Super chewy and I could barely pull it apart. The macaroni was overwhelmingly Smokey and just a clump of Mac. The inside is super crowded for most of the day. They have some outdoor seating. I'd come here again for more of their burgers but that's about it. read more

*WE TOOK OUT FOOD* This restaurant was fine - the staff were great with takeout and very cute sauce bar, but our takeout was subpar. The ribs weren't baby back (maybe because we aren't from around here?). The turkey burger was okay, lacking in flavor a bit. The French fries were stuffed in the box and very soggy. I assume it's better to just eat in here. read more

OMG happy dance... brisket was phenomenal!!! Got the small plate with half lean and half rich cut (so nice that they ask you). This is what I was craving (especially after having brisket at another place a few days earlier that left me wanting). Colt Grill delivered! Brisket was nice and smoky and juicy. The serving size for the small plate was perfect for me to indulge. I tried a couple of their sauces (the smoky campfire one and the sweet fire one?) and they were both fantastic. Husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and son ordered the cheeseburger. As soon as the trays were placed up on the counter, we were like "wow!!" The buns on the sandwich and burger looked glisteny and fluffy (no stale old buns here!) and the meats in between looked so juicy and thick. My son said he wasn't even that hungry yet when we showed up but then he polished off his entire burger so voraciously it was so good. Coming to Arizona, I had several bbq places bookmarked and this was truly a winner. Staff were all pleasant, ambiance was nice and most importantly, the food was so worth the calories! You order at the bar when you walk in on the right, pick a table and get your food at the counter when they call you. Until I return, I will be dreaming of this brisket! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We went to the bike shop next door and smelled the smoke, so decided to try it. I tried the Sampler platter - it is a LOT of food! It is enough for two people. The brisket was too fatty for my taste, but it had good flavor. The pulled pork and turkey were delicious. We tried both styles of beans. Both were good. I preferred the sweet but the smoked was good too. I preferred the Nana's Toast over the cornbread. They have an area to take your own BBQ sauce. I think there were 8 varieties. I liked the sweet desert and texas. I felt that this was a good meal for the price and the bang for your buck was also significant. Someone next to us got a burger (menu notes it is ground fresh) and it was huge. read more

Okay, so you are in Sedona; it's amazing and beautiful! Give yourself credit for visiting and enjoying this beautiful desert palace, but choose your restaurant wisely - many are tourist traps with sub-par food. I asked multiple people here where to go, and they all were "ehh" on the over priced restaurants. So, I went to my favorite foodie source (cough cough YELP) and found this highly rated gem of a restaurant, all thanks to fellow Yelpers! Serious shout out to Yelpers for helping me find the best place to eat - I really appreciate it; y'all saved me and your recommendations held true. This business is OUTSTANDING. Seriously, I am not kidding at all, if you don't visit this business, frankly, you are missing out on some of the best food the area offers. It's literally a BBQ dream come true. My family ordered Brisket tacos, sides of fries, Mac and cheese, slaw, and my son an I ordered the Sampler Platter of smoked meats. While all were fabulous, I highly HIGHLY, going to say it again, HIGHLY recommend the sampler platter. It's built for two or more, and will give you a chance to try all that they offer. I really can't recommend it enough. Now, let's get to the sauces, because sauce freaking matters to me, a lot, and I love options. Well, their sauces are....wait....guess....FANTASTIC!!! I love it hot (I grow Reapers), but the flavor in the milder sauces they have are even better. Try them all! They have a stand set up with cups where you are able to do so. Let's talk drinks, do you want to guess how awesome the margaritas are? Yeah, they are BOMB. Get the spicy canyon margarita which has jalapeño! How about the draft beers, yep, they are bomb too! Let's talk service; you order at the bar, they will announce when your food is ready, bring drinks out, and are genuinely nice people. This is hands down, one of the best places I've eaten at in years. Superior, fantastic, best food, kindest staff, quality, and incredibly affordable. THANK YOU Colt Grill, I cannot put into words how much I think about your establishment. You are Awesome!!! THANKS again! read more

Colt Grill was close to our hotel in Sedona and came highly recommended by the hotel front desk clerk, so when our niece gave us the option to dine here for dinner, we took it as a sign. The smokers are outside in the front of the restaurant which is pretty cool. The ordering processes is unique. You find an open table (inside or outside), order your food/drinks at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. It gets a little hectic and can be confusing, but that's how it works. LOL! Hubby and I ordered the smoked sampler plate with beans and Texas toast. Everything was really good! The plate had pork, brisket, ribs, sausage, and turkey. The ranch beans weren't super saucy, more like just whole pintos with some meat. I loved them! There were tons of BBQ sauce to choose from. I grabbed a few, but didn't know which was which by the time I got back to the table. They were all good. I also had the I'm Your Huckleberry drink. Which was vodka with lemonade and mint. It was very refreshing. It wasn't too strong or sweet or sour, it was perfect. We had a great time and the staff was very friendly and professional. Cheers! read more

The Colt Grill is hands down THE ABSOLUTE BEST BBQ spot I have ever dined at! As it turns out they have several locations throughout N. Arizona -- the location I ate was located in Oak Creek, which was about a 15 min. drive from Sedona. I liked the modern rustic decor and overall southern ambiance. When you walk in you grab a menu, decide what you want, order at the front counter/register, grab a seat, then when your number is called you pick up your items from either the kitchen area or the bar (if you ordered drinks). Despite it being fairly busy when we arrived all of our food & drinks were ready in approximately 10 minutes, and I always appreciate efficient systems and service. The BBQ here is AWESOME! For food, we ordered a BBQ Chicken Sandwich, Mac & Cheese, and a "Filly" Cheesesteak. The smoked brisket "Filly" Cheesesteak was the best cheesesteak sandwich that I have ever eaten (exponentially better than any proper Philly Cheesesteak that I have ever tried!!!), and I would happily drive 2 hours from phoenix to grab one! The smoked brisket was seasoned perfectly and soooo moist and tender ... all I can say is YUM! The BBQ chicken sandwich was also great -- very moist and tender too. We also enjoyed the Mac and cheese. One of the best things about this restaurant is the homemade BBQ sauce bar so you can mix, match, and try all sorts of different BBQ sauces w/ your food -- mixing the various BBQ flavors with your food here is a total party in your mouth experience! The margaritas & root beer float also hit the spot! The staff was very friendly and makes sure you are well taken care of. Most importantly, the food and drinks are reasonably priced when taking into consideration the quality of each item and the portion size, which is why -- overall, this fine BBQ establishment easily earns a 5 star review from me! We were visiting for the weekend and saw good reviews so we gave this place a try. The location seating for inside and outside is limited, and parking on the street in front can be risky. So I would recommend parking away or ordering out in case it gets busy. We got there right before the dinner rush, so the staff felt 'not ready' when we walked in. Every other customer after us seemed to be greeted with warmth when they walked in. We ordered the Sampler platter, Mac and cheese, fries, and Texas toast. Fries were crispy and seasoned. The Mac and cheese came with bacon on top and has a good spice level. The toast was underwhelming. The chicken and pulled pork on the sampler platter were dry, and the turkey was dry in places as well. The brat was good, the brisket was great, and the ribs were great as well. We also got the Cowboy Cookie, and the tag said it was 2 days old. It was pretty crumbly and dry as well. I will also say when I was initially grabbing the food, the trays were hot and the cook/expo did not warn me. So I can see how someone worse than myself can potentially get y'all in trouble for something like that. I would also make the bread/pickle/onion optional to the customer. read more

4.5 / 5.0 - Our Airbnb host recommended this BBQ spot and we loved it so much we went twice during our stay in Sedona. They have a specific system for ordering and seating which is indicated on the door outside, but we hadn't seen it going in and several of us were confused about where to go to be seated. - Ordering: For both dining in and take-out, you order at the register (on the right when you walk in). - Seating: For both tables and the bar, it's self-serve. The first time we went, it was around 6:30pm mid-week, but the place was packed. Fortunately, there was a table leaving, so my bf went to order while I waited at the table. - Pick-up: If you're dining in, they call your number and you pick up at the counter where there are condiments, which is also self-serve. If you're picking up, they will call your number out at the end of the bar (opposite the register) and hand you your food there. The second time we went, we ordered pick-up and the bar area got quite crowded with many people waiting for pick-up. The first time, we ordered: - Large Brisket Platter ($18.95+) - The Filly Salad - Small ($7.95+) - Smoked Mac-n-Cheese ($4.75+) - Triple Crown Potato Salad ($4+) We absolutely loved the brisket. You have a choice of lean or rich cut and chose half & half, so we could try both. They were both so delicious we couldn't decide which we liked better--maybe the rich cut. The Filly Salad was great, too, with a nice blend of romaine, walnuts, pears, cranberries and bleu cheese. It was so much food for 2 people we had leftovers to take back. The second time, we ordered: - Sample Meat Platter ($27.95+) w/Ranch Beans ($3.50+) Even though we went at our pick-up time, it was busy and our food wasn't ready so we had to wait a while. And this time, the lean brisket wasn't as good--it tasted like it had been sitting for a while and it was dry. The pulled pork was delicious, though. We also enjoyed the ranch beans. For the price, it's a great deal and perfect for a family or group to share. Can't wait to come here again! read more

***in response to the business owners reply, my review was honest and far from rude or disrespectful? Was just sharing our experience... While here visiting family, we were craving bbq and couldn't wait to try it!! Honestly I cannot give a legit review because we ended up leaving. The 2 stars I'm giving is basically because the place smelled amazing! Clearly was coming from the smokers and would've loved to try it! But what a turn off while we were in line to order our food, we couldn't find an open table for the 4 of us. Their dining room is very small and packed full! But their patio seating with heat lamps was plentiful and no one was sitting out there because it was cold. And we were cold to begin with and absolutely did not want to sit outside. Really wish they'd make some changes to open up more indoor seating. read more
