This is by far the best cheese enchilada I have ever had. I've had cheese enchiladas all over the country. This is by far the best imo.

We went for lunch and there was no wait, which could have been a red flag. The restaurant is nice. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they only came with rice and beans. They didn't come with sour cream or guacamole for being $23 seems a bit pricey. The tacos were so spicy I had to stop eating them as my mouth was on fire. When the waiter suggested them he should have mentioned they were spicy. Also, the meat in the taco was luke warm and the tortilla wasn't fresh. My daughter had the cheese enchiladas that she shared with me. They were bland. The salsa looked odd and I couldn't figure out why. I ordered a side of guacamole and it was $8, and drinks $4 a piece. They nickel and dime you on everything. $65 plus tip for 2 people for mediocre food. I'd go somewhere else. Chipotle is better. read more

This is a really nice Mexican restaurant in uptown Sedona. I was working, so I usually don't stop up there unless I get lucky and find a parking spot which I did. I had been here in the past when it had a different name, but this experience was much better. I was seated by the windows which have a fantastic view of the mountains. I ordered a Chile Relleno plate with rice and beans. It was delicious and looked very upscale and elevated. The prices in this area are more than average, but this meal was worth it. The service was exceptional and fast. I'm not generally in this area often, but I would definitely return. read more

We loved this place! We were strolling the street after a long hike and looked up at their rooftop patio and said 'heck yes!' We started with the chips (fresh!) and salsa, which was dark and smokey, and wonderful. Hubby had a beer and I had the Smokey Margarita (highly recommend!) and we split the Queso Fundido. I've had thus many times in Texas, but never with corn & Pablano peppers in it. So fresh and DELICIOUS!! My only complaint... they only give you 4 tortillas with it, then charge you if you ask for more. Service was good and the view was AMAZING! What a nice addition to a perfect day. read more

Every time we went to Sedona we would stop by Oaxaca. This last time we seen they changed ownership as well as their name to La Vecina. Oaxaca has been in business for decades this place won't be in business for long. I had the cheese enchiladas and the enchilada sauce tasted like pasta sauce. My wife got the carne asada which was so bad they shouldn't even call it carne asada. It was mystery meat. This is not a "mom and Pop" mexican reciepe food place. We were a party of 5 for lunch. I guess they made up their own idea of mexican food. Two orders of fajitas, neither one sizziling. A taco salad with all ingrediants seperated and no kind of mixer (salsa, sour cream, etc.) dressing. All you get is the taste of individual vegtables. Cost is normal Sedona i.e. add $6 if you want any change to the nachos. They also add a charge for credit card payments, Portions were large. Service was average. read more

Nice spot with a fun view. We wanted Mexican food and were not disappointed with the food here! We started with the elote appetizer, and a big fresh plate of warm chips are provided. The food portions are good for the main meal, but each meal comes with a beans and rice side plate that made for a lot of food! This is definitely a good place to share one dish. We were promptly seated on the rooftop patio that had spectacular views. Along the railing will be on the direct sunlight during the late afternoon but you can sit fully in the shade in against the wall. Sweeping views of the rocks and even if you are sitting with your back to the views, they have installed mirrors for your viewing pleasure. We ordered the cheese enchilada and the quesabirria. Enjoyed our meal at La Vecina! We were visiting from out of town and looking for good Mexican and came across. From the sounds of it, this restaurant is newly renamed with a new owner. The rooftop has a beautiful view of the landscape. Somewhat small menu, but the classics are there. I decided to have the enchiladas "you pick" combo. I chose chicken and beef which was a good choice. My husband ordered a taco bowl which was plentiful in portion size. Both dishes were. Conveniently located on the main road in Sedona near shops. The upstairs outdoor area is great for some nice views and enjoying the beautiful weather. They do have heater units in case it gets cold. To be honest the only downside is the food was expensive for Mexican. Average dinner plate was $25-28 but very delicious. We got the vampiro tacos with sirloin and the al pastor tacos. The chips and salsa were good and complimentary. Our server was attentive and helpful with the menu. I also got the shuga and spice margarita. WOW. This place was a fantastic surprise. We walked right in. I chose this place based on my fellow Yelpers--so thank you! It's new to Sedona and is making its name. The chips were soooo good with the queso. (Of course I was starving as well after a long day of hiking!) Picky 9 was not impressed with her cheese quesadilla but appreciated the fries. This restaurant is right on the uptown strip-so conveniently located. Great views. we had a Birria Burrito and l Pastor tacos-both came with rice and beans. They were both very good. There are a lot of stairs to get into the place and again to get upstairs to the outdoor patio but it was nice. The wait staff were attentive and the food was presented nicely. The salsa was real different! My hubby liked it but not me. I know all food has gone up but $45 for lunch for 2 (without drinks or tip) is high. read more

La Vecina was, unfortunately, the biggest dining disappointment of our trip to Sedona. While the service was excellent and the staff was attentive and friendly, the food fell far short of expectations. We started with the "fresh guacamole" listed on the menu, but what arrived looked and tasted anything but fresh. It resembled prepackaged, chilled guacamole that had already begun to brown, topped with roughly chopped tomatoes and onions. If a restaurant advertises fresh guacamole, that's exactly what customers should receive. Our entrees didn't improve the experience. Both came with pinto beans and rice that were bland and noticeably under-seasoned. The rice was dry, oily, and oddly crunchy, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. Overall, the meal lacked freshness, flavor, and the authentic Mexican taste we were expecting. This ended up being the worst meal we had during our stay in Sedona. Looking back, the nearly empty dining room should have been a warning sign. La Vecina has wonderful service, but the kitchen has significant improvements to make before we would consider returning or recommending it. read more

Starting with Julio, our server, everything was topnotch. Julio was very attentive. He noticed our table was wobbly, and he fixed that immediately. After we finished the first batch of tortilla chips and sauce, he obliged and gave us another round. He was conversant and accommodating, and had such good humor. We were so glad we had him as our server. Wish I had taken pictures of what we ate, but we got carried away and started eating because every dish looked so good and so very much mouth-watering. We started with the calamari and were so happy we chose it as an appetizer. So tender! The chicken quesadilla was cooked and seasoned to perfection. (Sweet, spicy, smoky). We had the Tinga enchiladas with a green chile sauce that was amazing and a trio of al pastor tacos with chunks of pineapple and super tender thinly sliced pork in fresh tortillas.
